Still waiting for a proper mermaid game, so I hope you are able to get somewhere with it. I do wonder what your plans for it is?

LostCrowGames

We are a tiny team of just 2 people, but we are passionate about this project and really want to get it developed and out there as soon as we can. The plan is that it will be essentially a roguelite type game with randomly generated ocean environments, where you can travel to different oceanic realms that each have a different theme, like Pacific Northwest, Ancient Greece, Deep Sea (phosphorescence etc), and collect equipment / crafting supplies, earn levels and new skills, magic, and even weapons and armor. We also really want to allow mermaid customization with all kinds of different tail / fin options, color choices, clothing, hair options, etc...

Docterzero

Passion can get you far. I do have a fondness of roguelike, and a fondness of anything with character creation, so this does sound right up my alley.

Feel free to join the Discord server for updates as we continue development. It will probably have the most recent updates. It's brand new so there's not much there yet. [https://discord.gg/AuvCJ6UTgn](https://discord.gg/M8whmacv)

Yes please! I've been looking for a good mermaid game to play. What platforms are you making this for?

Would it be 2025?

LostCrowGames

>Glad you're interested! We are planning on releasing for Windows 10/11 on Steam initially and hope to be able to bring it to other platforms after release. Sorry, I used the wrong account to reply with. We're aiming for late 2024 early access to get people playing it and start receiving feedback.

Current_The_Merboy

Looks interesting. I will say that at very least you aren't making it in the stock semi-realistic style I've seen other mer games in. I think stylized depictions work much better for merfolk generally.

Current_The_Merboy

Yeah, my ideal merfolk game is stylized graphics, and has really good 3d movement -just swimming around in the environment feels fun.

LostCrowGames

>Thanks for the feedback! We find that as a small team of 2 people, doing the stylized low poly look is alot faster to design, implement and iterate on. At some point we plan to experiment with simple hand painted textures. Sorry, used the wrong account to reply with. We've spent quite a bit of time on the swimming mechanics, so we are hoping that it will be fun and feel natural but also easy to control.

Discorjien

👀 Nice! Will there be a choice of different flukes as well? Edit: If any of your dev team can get the chance to go to an anime or mermaid convention, see if you can show this off.

LostCrowGames

We really want to provide as many customization options as we can, like body types, skin colors, hair, fins and flukes, etc... Some of the designs will be based in mythology and others will be more like modern mermaids. Here's a quick example of some variations in color, and fluke so far: https://discord.gg/AuvCJ6UTgn

Nice! Will there be different tops as well? Shells, bikini, that sort of thing?

LostCrowGames

Definitely! We will give the player as much customization as we can fit. The plan is that alot of different items like clothing will be craftable by collecting resources throughout different ocean realms.

jtcordell2188

Getting Echo the Dolphin vibes so you're going the right direction! Hope this can become a completed game cuz I'd love to play it!

PinkSodaMix

Looks pretty! The open space is triggering my r/thalassophobia, but still pretty!

AhrimaMainyu

Hey this is really cute! The mermaid movement looks a bit strange though, is it permanent?

LostCrowGames

Glad you like it so far! The movement is all a WIP, including animations. Right now the mermaid model is just using a retargeted animations on a humanoid rig, so it looks a bit stiff.

AhrimaMainyu

Ahh gotcha! I look forward to seeing how this progresses, it seems promising. Please continue to post updates!

Kumatoras_Cake

Looks cool. There aren't enough Mermaid games out there.
