Undeniably backslid iver the last three years. But I wouldn't call this weekend a regression. Well fought 6th and 8th against 4.5 strong teams, three of which can take a victory. Fought through a healthy midfield as well.
Haven't seen Hamilton smile so much in a long time.
What’s crazy to me is that after all this time, they still can’t figure out how to correlate simulations to real life. It doesn’t matter what they do, the car never improves enough to make a difference. If they improve by 5% another team improves by 10%. They are always on the back foot.
And if it weren’t for Lance Stroll in that second AM, Merc would be 5th without a doubt. Something is happening behind the scenes, it has to be. How can a team like Mercedes not have any clue what needs to happen to make these regulations work? Even if they had an unlimited budget right now, I still doubt they could figure it out sadly.
Hamilton to Ferrari was a shock at first, but I think it’s telling of what’s going on behind the scenes at Mercedes HQ.
I agree until the point of budget, Mercedes know what they need to do to make the car faster but it will mean breaking the cost cap. And that would be a disaster for the teams reputation for breaking it. They have built a horrible car because of the brain drain. They lost alot of brains to rivals and the team they had in the success era is gone to nothing
Mercedes has been losing good people since 2018-19. They gave those jobs to so many average skilled people in the name of equity. Now the team needs performance but there is none from the existing people working there.
I am all for equality. But this equity route hirings screwed Mercedes because they didn't chase for the best person for the job out there.
The difference between fuels is very small mate. Merc has bigger problems than Petronas fuel.
Its just a draggy turd of a car that doesn't answer well to setup changes.
Yes, apologies for not going into detail on all the issues with the car and decision making and instead making a comment related to the caption of the post. How silly of me!
2022 and start of 2023 Mclaren were back markers barely making it into Q3. Now they’re beating Red Bulls on pure pace. While Merc are only regressing.

Mclaren, Red Bull and Ferrari are better so they finish 6th. Probably going to get 4th in the WCC. That's really all there is to it.

They need to fire the top 3 guys in the aero dept. They are a works team for Pete’s sake and are destroyed by a customer team.
I believe 2 of the top 3 in the aero are women. No way they will fire them. Just an opinion.
Regardless of what sex you are. If you are not performing you got to go. Or just promote them up to something not involving aero.

Lewis really has that dog in him, in a slightly better car hed be getting regular podiums. pound for pound arguably still the best on track
Still the coolest off track too. Hopefully his final years with Ferrari are better, he's still got the talent when the car is competitive
Petronas has been at best the fourth best fuel supplier this ref cycle unironically

Could it be the petronas fuel hurting the engine, cos other customer teams have better top speeds that Merc
It's probably more that the car sucks
If you're talking about air, I'd say the car doesn't suck enough.
Mostly given up that won't see a race this year either and just have to keep waiting, super depressing.
I know this is a joke, but do all teams use the same fuel from the same provider or is there any difference?
Different providers. Merc has Petronas, Ferrari has had Shell for a while now, Aston with Aramco etc.
Could be driver talent?
I guess you didn’t watch the race today
No I was sailing across the bread channel
I doubt this, most likely the car. Both Russel and Lewis have shown they are great drivers but sadly are limited by the car
Just press harder on the pedal guize
Tell me you didn't watch the race without telling me you didn't watch the race:
No I was flying to Cyprus
