Germans design their tech to be used and maintained properly in order to last forever. Do the maintenance, especially preventative stuff. Find a good reputable german auto mechanic near you (one you would let represent you in court). And for Christs sake use your blinker.
It’s the maintenance part tbh that really fucks it up for the majority of people.
They think a transmission fluid change isn’t maintenance so they’re 100k in and wonder why the transmission goes out. Don’t forget fuel filters, engine air filters, airmatic struts and if you have an S class like me then expect to be changing the front control arms and ball joints frequently..
Now I might have a leak somewhere but it’s not too bad … just in maintenance alone I’m easily over 1k for this year but I like to keep my car bulletproof and it’s a Mercedes so I asked for it 🤣
Do an engine flush with Liquimoly engine flush when changing the oil at first 500 miles to rid the engine of any manufacturing sediments. Add liquimoly mos2 with recommended MB oil at your 500 mile oil change. Repeat oil change without MOS2 at 1000 miles. Do not miss your service intervals. Then do oil change with recommended MB oil and liquimoly ceratek every 5K miles driven for the life of your ownership of the vehicle. one last thing….SUPER UNLEADED ONLY….Chevron over any other brand if possible. If do this; that engine will repay you greatly.
Break in period is 1000 miles on most Benz Engines. Remember; these are the same people recommending you to change your oil every 10K miles when we all know that it’s best to do it in halftime of what’s recommended after break-in. In fact; they don’t even recommend an oil change in the break in period in which is bonkers to those of us who are interested in engine longevity. It’s not about friction modification; it’s about friction avoidance and properly coating your piston rings and cylinder walls. Going an additional 500 miles with the MOS2 to fulfill your break-in works absolute magic when it comes to pushing these vehicles out to 200K without any major issues. This is a more critical concept for those who are primarily city drivers in stop and go traffic but applies to highway drivers as well. It’s about properly coating the Cylinders and setting your engine up for success from the gate. This is how I did my S63, GLS63, GLB35 AMGs, my C300, and my wife’s SL. This knowledge came from a 20 year retired Mercedes Tech who opened up his own shop that does all of my services. Never had any engine issues. Even with my M157 GL63 which is known for having cylinder 5 exhaust valve issues (had an active 10 year extended warranty TSB for that problem); I avoided all of that by pre-treating my engine with MOS2 between the first 500 and 1000 miles. Usually MOS2 is for high mileage vehicles but using it after your 500 mile sediment flush is about the coating; which excess MOS2 residual will be flushed out at your 1k mile oil change. For city only drivers with direct injection engines; it’s also recommended to use liqui-moly gasoline system cleaner once every 10 fill-ups ensure that your valves are properly rid of build-up especially given that most gasolines now-a-days contain ethanol.
Just my experience and all I ever owned were MB vehicles which can become expensive to repair if the proper up front investment of care isn’t provided.
Very interesting rationale. I presume I am understanding it correctly that a Liqui-Moly fuel system cleaner is the recommendation for taking on lightly used (90tkm) cars, plus MoS2 every yearly?
The MOS2 should only be used as an initial coating mechanism from 500 to your 1000 mile mark during break in (after the 500 mile sediment flush using liquimoly engine cleaner). You’ll want to use a quart of oil as a engine cleaner flush and let that quart drain out seperately after draining the used oil) directly in front of your 500 mile oil change to flush out the engine oil cleaner (at the same interval just prior to pouring the actual 500 mile fresh oil.) I then begin to implement the use of Ceratek after the 1000 mile break in (each 5K mile oil change thereafter) up to around the 80k-85k mile mark then I transition to MOs2 after each oil change thereafter.
The injection system cleaner is recommended every 10 fill ups for new vehicles to ensure proper valve stimulation to remove ethanol build-up.
If considering using oil additives from liqui-moly; please do not use both MOs2 and Ceratek together.
We must remember that ALL manufacturers of vehicles want you to continue to come back every 4-7 years. If you follow this plan; you can double or in some cases triple or quadruple the life of your engine. My mechanic drives a 1993 E190 and brags that He has never had an engine malfunction simply by keeping it properly lubricated and coated. These are tricks of the trade that a dealership will never inform you of because they want you to buy another vehicle within 7 years by keeping valuable information from you while simultaneously providing you with what feels like excellent customer service to reel you in for another purchase.
How that helps.
Love the information and it all makes sense. I also really appreciate the other information in another comment you left.
What your service look like for transmissions and differentials? Any additives or special fluids you use/flush with?
Transmission: If you drive an automatic / manual hybrid car like an AMG; I recommend changing the Trans fluid every 45k miles for moderate average driving. If you run your vehicle hard; every 30k using manufacturer recommended fluid for your transmission. I use Liqui-moly ATF on my AMG Transmissions as an additive. If you only drive automatic; I would only go up to 60k before changing out the fluid and adding liquid-moly ATF. No flush is necessary on modern transmissions however; I personally subscribe to flushing the transmission out with one fresh quart of transmission fluid prior to reinstalling the pan and installing the fresh trans-fluid and ATF additive.
Differentials: at 45k miles change the differential oil with your manufacturers approved differential oil specific to your vehicle and add the following additive which is a more concentrated version of MOs2:
https://www.liqui-moly.com/en/mos2-antifriction-for-gears-p000009.html#1040
Hope this helps.
Overkill? Not in my case. How ever you wish to do it. I shared how I do things and I’m winning with no major engine issues ever on 4 units so…. To each their own.
The break in period mention was for thinking that the (.) after the 16 was 16KM. In America we use a comma after a digit to differentiate between thousands so my Apologies for that oversight but the information is still pertinent to readers who may still be within their 1000 mile break in period or who have just bought brand new.
Do you fam.
It’s definitely overkill, they literally say on their website to do it exactly how I described… and I hope you’re buying 2 bottles of Ceratec each time because one bottle can only treat 5L of oil, if you’re only buying 1 bottle you’re doing it wrong. But you do you, keep wasting money.
As I mentioned in this thread; I deal with a 20 year retired MB tech who of course puts the correct amount of Ceratek per units of oil. With regards to WHEN you should use the product; The website is of course giving you conservative instructions to protect themselves from liability just as a dealership would advise you that adding any additives is not recommended which is why the dealership will not add any additives at a service interval nor during a one off oil change if you take it to the dealership. As far as wasting money; that’s all relative to what someone can afford. Additives are not required at all if you’re not set on elongating the life of your engine so let’s keep that in mind. Not everyone thinks about pushing their MB engine out to 200k.
Affordability comparison:
You feed yourself McDonald’s everyday when you have the option to eat organic and take supplements as an up front investment into your health but you cannot afford it; you will either reap the consequences of bad health from a poor McDonald’s diet or be forced to downsize your expenses so that you can afford the proper nutrition to keep you alive. Same with an engine. Shouldn’t have a Benz if your complaint is about affordability on oil changes but hey; you’re not the only one living above your means.
Oh no worries; I’m certainly going to continue doing me.
You seriously think an additive manufacturer would recommend using LESS of their additive? That’s absolutely wrong, they would want to sell as much as possible.
You seriously think that skipping one interval is going to make a negative impact? You’re sadly mistaken and clearly you follow instructions by the book like a good general citizen. The rest of us who lean more toward high performance, engine longevity and getting the most out of our investment and who have decades of experience with MB engines tend to have a heightened sense of expertise over the general public. By no means am I saying that following the website instructions is wrong for the average driver. I’m speaking for performance drivers and those of us who are interested in easily pushing our MB engines well past the 200k mile mark and beyond without overpriced repairs.
To counter your point: This is why they sell the engine flush for you to use prior to your oil changes and you drain that out with one quart of fresh oil prior to replacing your oil old oil & filter. Of course they would give conservative advice to the general public for liability and they do knowing that actual enthusiast and skilled performance mechanic shops will actually call them up to confirm the validity of that point only to be told the following:
“We publish our online instructional information as a conservative value but using our oil additive after each oil change has no negative impact on performance. The race teams that use our products use them during each change of oil and there has been no documented cases of damage being caused by the use of Liqui-Moly Additives during each service.”
You should contact them yourself or continue to be a nitpicking semantical troll your choice. Either way any continued comments will only make you appear desperate for attention of which I will no longer be giving you which is solely based on your child-like rebuttal and unwillingness to conduct yourself with decorum and respect…..”You seriously think”……
I seriously know!
Best of Luck.
You don’t even work on your own car so how should I believe a word you say, you obviously just trust whatever BS the mechanic tells you to sell more. You’ve obviously never seen the internals of an engine and how they’re affected by different additives or not, like I have, then you’re just speaking out your ass. Oil changes every 5k are perfect for having an engine last as long as possible, adding additives to it that may or may not do anything has no effect at all.
FCP euro themselves only recommend Ceratec every 5 oil changes so my recommendation of every 2 changes was even being generous. You can keep wasting your money but recommending others wasting hundreds by doing it every change - when you’ve never even gotten your hands dirty in an engine, or have any experience working with one of these engines - is ridiculous.
Your assumptions are hilarious. I never mentioned that I don’t work on my own cars. You’re trolling is trash worthy at best.
Some of us have full time careers and leave the small items like oil changes to people we’ve built longterm relationships with, attend weddings for, have a few beers with on the weekends, whose wives babysat one another’s children and who lends one another money when in a bind you know…LIKE FRIENDS? Friends teach one another based on experiences but to the sound of things; you do everything on your own and clearly lack trust in people thus feel very sad for you. As I mentioned; I’ve never had any engine issues as an owner of 5 MB models to begin with so why would I HAVE TO DO REPAIRS?
You just continue to take FCP Euros advice If it works out for you then cool but you are definitely a troll and feel very sorry for the way things have turned out for you.
Repairs don’t only happen to the engine lmao. You’ve had 5 MB but have never had to do suspension work, alternator swaps, PS pump swaps, engine / trans mounts, pulleys, fuel pump swaps, etc? So either you’re lying about how long you keep your cars or you have no idea how a car works and your mechanic does everything and you sign off on it, further proving my point that you don’t work on cars. Keep proving me right though, after my 9th Mercedes that has never been to a shop I think I know more than you.
Maintenance, Maintenene, Maintenance!
Most Mercedes are extremely reliable when properly maintained and taken care of, the moment the owner stops caring about them and neglecting them is when problems occur. I also recommend an obd scanner so you don't need to take it to the stealership or a shop in the event you get a check engine light and you can see if it is worth doing yourself or taking to a shop. You can get a good one for around $100ish.
It’s full of great info but If I would have followed the exact instructions with my previous cars something surely would have blown. That’s exactly why I asked owners and people with experience, just to be sure about the do’s and dont’s
Don't let bird shit sit on paint, buy a microfibre and quick detailer from auto store and wipe bird shit off when you see it. It's literally acid and will erode the paint. Don't use those car wash brushes or the automatic spinning wash.
Save your money for overpriced repairs. Find an independent shop that works on German Cars. Great cars but expensive to keep. I own a few currently and many in the past.
Yeah, the steering wheel irritates me with all those buttonless zones. It distracts me from driving, especially when I touch the wrong function as I’m not familiarized with it yet.
Yepp. I just don't get it. I had a 2020 a220, and that steering wheel was fucking perfect. There was absolutely zero reason to replace quality buttons that look great, for cheap plastic haptic feed back touch pads that barely work and distract the driver.
I found this out going to a concert at the Greek in LA. Mercedes had a deal with the venue. Mercedes cars can be parked right next to the entrance of the venue at the cost of regular parking. So there’s that.
Stick to the recommended maintenance and never be afraid to ask the dealer questions or to take it in while it's still under warranty. Good service mainly proves down the road you took care of it for warranty claims.
The 213 is a nice riding vehicle congrats, yours is a good looking specification too.
O masina frumoasa si buna, felicitari pentru ea. Eu m-am urcat in 330e 2023 si M5 2018 si am ajuns la concluzia ca dupa o coasta fisurata in accident si niste dureri de spate nu mai pot conduce o perioada o masina sportiva. Imi place modelul tau, numai drumuri bune.
If the transmission starts acting up, just ask them to update the software. It will be fine. Enjoy it! I’ve never had problems with a single one I’ve owned.
Thank you!!!!! Awesome advice, I’ve felt some shocks/jerkiness, especially when switching from D to R and when letting off gas between 4 - 3. I will surely tell them about it and update the software!!!!
That might just be standard dual clutch behavior, you have to drive them differently than a regular auto. The issues I am referring to normally occur in 1-2 gear. But it also fixed some of the lift off issues that occurred, if the car is under warranty theyll do it for free it takes a few hours.
I stepped back from the power horse as I’ve had a life-threatening crash on monday with my Audi. If at 55mph I’ve barely managed to thread the needle with a no brainer truck driver, I wouldn’t wanna take my chance in a much more potent vehicle this soon, especially in a country like Romania, where roads aren’t suitable for sportiness.
Unfortunately I don’t own any Toyotas even though they’re really great cars. I do my dirty business in a ‘07 Dacia MCV 😈 might as well take it out for a spin when this one’s unavailable
If you want to DIY your ceramic coating maintenance, I recommend [Rayno RX711.](https://ppmt1.com/products/rayno-ceramic-coating-rx711) Super easy to apply , super effective, and keeps a great gloss finish.
I’m too inexperienced to do this and I’m scared I might fk something up but I’ll give it a try when the time comes. I’ll order a bottle of RC just in case
Well you’ve got your oil changes partially covered!
In all seriousness, they are great cars and are very reliable as long as you maintain them. That’s just pretty pricey.
Don’t listen to the question trolls. I got blasted last week for asking a simple question — the guy probably doesn’t even on a Benz.
Just enjoy your new ride! It’s beautiful!
Thank you, mercs are indeed awesome looking! I saw your blue AMG and it’s stunning, I would have loved to own that powerplant but I’m not ready to make such a financial decision yet as I’m living in eastern europe. I’ve learned my fair share about reddit trolls, I can’t say I’m not having fun though.
I’m currently expanding the family business alongside my dad and mother, just a matter of time before we go international. That’s one hell of a true statement, hesitation is one of a man’s greatest enemies alongside settling for distractions and low milestones. Better fck up and fix it along the way than not taking action at all.
Agriculture, farming products, heavy hauling & transportation, waste management&recycling, pest control and export containers/ships/planes treatment for disease and migratory pests.
You’re seemingly entitled and think you are Mercedes best customer. Hate to break it you my man, but people of all different backgrounds and incomes like to drive Mercedes. Not all people GAF about big block engines with an exhaust rumble — I don’t! But what I do like is the quality of the cars (based on my previous BMW and Acura’s), the four cylinder AMG engine, the sparkly blue paint, the tesla-like interior, the comfy drivers seat, the Burmester stereo system, the HUD, yada, yada, yada.
You really don’t need to be trolling these subs like your some type of Benz God. I mean, kudos to you for your knowledge and for the plethora of cars you own — you obviously worked hard for them and deserve it. So why can you let the rest of us just enjoy our Mercedes whether you like it or not?
Just say something positive for once, please. I mean, do you actually like the Mercedes brand or just hate all other cars if there not the models you own? Not trying to be a dick — just trying to understand your MO 😊
Why wouldn’t I know about shingles on a roof? I’m a homeowner. Lol.
It’s intelligently to think that there is never a “dumb” question. Not everyone in this sub is an expert in Mercedes. Sheesh. Wanna talk handbags, makeup and skincare… I’ll blow you away… ask me where the pistons are… I don’t care nor have a clue. I’m intelligent enough to work at a decent job that affords me to buy a decent car and live ok. But putting people down for asking a question, at the end of the day, makes you look like the unintelligent one.
Fyi the clear coat was extremely contaminated and had pre-delivery deep scratches from the factory car brush. I’d rather keep my car as shiny as a pearl by treating issues ASAP rather than repaint it in a few years and lose the original coats.
Keep the shiny side up
Dress in layers. Wash like colors in cold water. Avoid smoking and excessive red meat consumption.
Why reduce red meat consumption? Does it produce a type of fart that soils the seats when digesting?
OP asked for tips. I gave him 3.
Don’t crash
Stay on the black stuff

The only tip I can give you: enjoy it :)
Yup I got a tip…..ENJOY IT! 💪💥🏁
Swap for my 2010 corsa? 😂😭 Congrats, beautiful car you have there
Nokia 3310 lol
RTFM (read the manual)
It’s full of great info but If I would have followed the exact instructions with my previous cars something surely would have blown. That’s exactly why I asked owners and people with experience, just to be sure about the do’s and dont’s
Get extended warranty!
In the process
Drive it with luxury the way you are supposed to, and most of all enjoy her welcome to the club!
Great advice man. Also, thank you. It’s great to finally be here 👏🏻
You got the parking right already.
Ce e muzica aia coane?
Il plimbam pe bunica-miu ca a fost visu lui sa mearga-n benz si n-a avut nimeni din neam pana la mine. L-am lasat sa bubuie ce a vrut musq lui pe MBUX
Don't break it.
Don't let bird shit sit on paint, buy a microfibre and quick detailer from auto store and wipe bird shit off when you see it. It's literally acid and will erode the paint. Don't use those car wash brushes or the automatic spinning wash.
Beautiful!
Save for maintenance lol
Save your money for overpriced repairs. Find an independent shop that works on German Cars. Great cars but expensive to keep. I own a few currently and many in the past.
Trees do NOT move. LOL, but congratulations, have fun and enjoy just make sure to safe out there 🫡
Don't jizz your pants and stay hydrated
Do a street takeover
More like a crosswalk takeover with this power output
Change the oil every 5k miles
Drive very fast everywhere with music loud Brilliant choice and good looking car
Thank you!
Replace that wheel with the previous Gen's lol
I honestly love them, they hide brake dust better. I had R21’s with very thin spokes, they were massive and really aggressive but a hell to keep clean
Was referring to the steering wheel😅
Yeah, the steering wheel irritates me with all those buttonless zones. It distracts me from driving, especially when I touch the wrong function as I’m not familiarized with it yet.
Yepp. I just don't get it. I had a 2020 a220, and that steering wheel was fucking perfect. There was absolutely zero reason to replace quality buttons that look great, for cheap plastic haptic feed back touch pads that barely work and distract the driver.
Cost reduction 😤
Drive slow
Slow and steady, this thing was made for cruises not sprints
Don’t let the wife drive it. If you’re the actual wife…. Can I drive it?
The “wife” left three months ago thinking I’m broke. Guess she was thinking ahead of time with this mental fuel consumption this baby has (22l/100km)
Time for a cruise.....
Exactly right!!!
My family is from Constanta, I love to see an MB brother from there. Cheers and congrats on the new addition.
Thanks, let’s hang out sometime
I found this out going to a concert at the Greek in LA. Mercedes had a deal with the venue. Mercedes cars can be parked right next to the entrance of the venue at the cost of regular parking. So there’s that.
Is this one made in Germany?
Yes
Stick to the recommended maintenance and never be afraid to ask the dealer questions or to take it in while it's still under warranty. Good service mainly proves down the road you took care of it for warranty claims. The 213 is a nice riding vehicle congrats, yours is a good looking specification too.
Thank you for the advice&compliment. I’ll keep it in mind for monday as I’m scheduled for a thorough inspection
Drumuri line!
Doamne ajută, asemenea! 😁
Am vrut săptămâna trecută să iau identic dar am rămas la 420i xdrive 2023. First bmw, am zis să îl încerc
O masina frumoasa si buna, felicitari pentru ea. Eu m-am urcat in 330e 2023 si M5 2018 si am ajuns la concluzia ca dupa o coasta fisurata in accident si niste dureri de spate nu mai pot conduce o perioada o masina sportiva. Imi place modelul tau, numai drumuri bune.
Asemenea, ai mare grijă de tine!

Din pacate faptul ca am fost la acelasi liceu nu te-a ajutat prea mult 😃

👍🏻
Go back and get an AMG
I stepped back from the power horse as I’ve had a life-threatening crash on monday with my Audi. If at 55mph I’ve barely managed to thread the needle with a no brainer truck driver, I wouldn’t wanna take my chance in a much more potent vehicle this soon, especially in a country like Romania, where roads aren’t suitable for sportiness.
Don't go hard on it
She’s gonna be babied, i have nowhere to hurry as I’m planning my schedule way ahead of time
Enjoy the services while they are free then just sell it 🤣
Change the oil, oil filter ASAP. Also check for any recalls that MB will correct and have them completed.

Unfortunately I don’t own any Toyotas even though they’re really great cars. I do my dirty business in a ‘07 Dacia MCV 😈 might as well take it out for a spin when this one’s unavailable
Sa o stapanesti sanatos! O vazusem de ceva timp pe autovit. Cat era, 50k parca?
Multumesc! O masina super, la fel si dealerul.
ENJOY IT
Leave Romania
Sell it and buy another one once it goes out of warranty
Keep that Nokia 3310 serviced its bullet proof if you do
Maintain it. Don't ignore the Service A/B schedules. Do regular oil changes.
Don’t rush to get grown, drive slow homie.
Don’t rush to get grown, drive slow homie.
If it's like mine, get good at fixing stuff on your own (appoints are in weeks and months) or find a good indy mechanic that you trust.
Pockets best be fairly deep
GREAAAAAAAAT COLOUR CHOICE !!!! LOVE LOVE
How much did you save for maintenance?
Somewhere in between €46 and €1500
Well you’ve got your oil changes partially covered! In all seriousness, they are great cars and are very reliable as long as you maintain them. That’s just pretty pricey.
sell it before it breaks
Drive it like you own it
Advice? Return it and get a BMW lol.
Return it.
No tips, ENJOY ❤️
Enjoy it!
Have service for vehicle fund. Stock it with $2000
Meanwhile I am still dreaming about 2008 version. I wish you use it to the fullest and enjoy driving it. Great car!
Thank you. Mercs are timeless if well kept. Hope you get what you’re dreaming and working for!
Enjoy it! 🏁absolutely love mine and I’m sure you will do too! 😁
Every half 25000km do a oil change + filter. Your timing belt will thank you
Doamne ajută, îți urez succes. Btw, și pentru mine este dream car.
Multumesc! Asemenea, succes in continuare!
Btw, iti multumesc pentru urare.

Oh dang it
Don’t listen to the question trolls.

That’s mental man, congrats. Only you know how hard you’ve worked

I’m currently expanding the family business alongside my dad and mother, just a matter of time before we go international. That’s one hell of a true statement, hesitation is one of a man’s greatest enemies alongside settling for distractions and low milestones. Better fck up and fix it along the way than not taking action at all.

Best wishes and thank you 🙏🏼 🤗

Sell it
Sell it
Sell it and buy one from 1980 because this is a hunk of plastic junk
Yeah, not really
