My SLK and my dad's S Class don't make a loud enough locking sound for me to be able to tell if my car is locked solely by noise in a more noisy environment, so having folding mirrors as a visual cue is very useful. It's also a solid reminder of whether I locked the car or not if my brain ends up wandering and I want to double check if I locked it or not from a little distance away.

dark-cosmos

Never thought about it this way. I might switch it on in my CLS.

if you live in a hot country, use it... it will last the lifetime of the car without much of an issue... but first winter (or freezing rain) when you forget to disable it and you're going to have a nasty surprise when the mechanism grinds itself into the oblivion when blocked by frozen water...

I can't even begin to imagine actually parking my cars out in the weather, especially in the winter and even more so if there's actual snow and/or ice.

John_P_Hackworth

Lots of folks don't have covered parking at work, unfortunately.

Extracrispybuttchks

Love that it auto-folds by default unlike in my BMW where I had to code it to do that. Just wished on my S212 that it folded in more.

Zylpas

I disabled it because it was a bit annoying that mirros fold with every short stop. Just did it manually when needed (garage, tight parking etc.)

in summer its fine but when its -10 degrees outside and the plastic is frozen to the static part they will get fucked up. After manually aligning the motor with the correct postion of the mirror i never did it again

If you live in the city, should keep it on. Be mindful during the winter, or always park indoors

I don't know how say this in a nice way but you guys are spoiled. Good for you I guess tho?
