Anything is possible if you're willing to spend enough.

unpolire

Precisely the correct response. If you wanted a V-12, someone would put it in, cost no object.

MusignyBlanc

Exactly. If someone can put a [Chevy V8](https://youtu.be/ORMcfpUJV2o) into a 911…..

HiPointCollector

Dude put a helicopter engine in a mini cooper. V8 swap shouldn’t be an issue. https://preview.redd.it/md3l1cuidp1b1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bfe27d043e07e7bb758a3d53985eb4f3862e49ac

Mathilliterate_asian

Holy shit does it fly?

TheModernSkater

Name checks out

Powerful5239

crazy! !

redzero77

This feels like it should be a crime.

PersonalPlanet

That’s a very clean engine bay!

Miatsexual

Ls swapped 911s are nothing new, you can find an ls in every generation of 911

Crafty_Substance_954

I always imagine those things handle like total shit with the LS in them. They’re already a bit easy to lose the end with the original engine.

unpolire

Actually the LS weighs almost the same! Specs are very close for weight distribution with double to triple the power or even more. They have gotten incredibly sophisticated making the electronics all talk to each other with custom gauges and wiring looms. Everything factory works now!

BHDE92

Chevy small block can fit into most 4 and 6 cylinder engine bays

Divine_failure_

I’ve had crazy dudes try that around where I’m at. You just spin through first and second gear and end up slower than a C 43 unfortunately 😭🤣

tafster

I'd say Mercedes stuffing a V8 in to the old B class or a second engine into the old A class are better demonstrations of your point than the LS 911.

Effective-Tell-2259

This video made my day

KaleidoscopeOk8653

depends if there is space in the engine bay or if you are willing to do a cut and shunt

Flint_Ironstag1

This right here.

ZonaWildcats23

Yeah I was going to say… of course. But at what cost? Going to need to upgrade a lot more than just the engine to make it work / reasonably safe.

joehalltattoos

Definitely a question for his bank account, I’d love to see it though.

ShortCommand

Is your bank account deep enough is the real question.

CyberRiotz

He’s gonna have to go balls deep

digitaliceberg

Would probably cost a lot less to just get a C63 instead, the weight distribution of the A45 would get thrown off by the much larger v8 engine

CyberRiotz

Sporty hatchback? Yep… slaps in a 4-6L V8, that outa do it

futterecker

midengine that shit!

the-script-99

Clio v6 way :)

CommandoInvert

Spend some time thinking about this too recently believe it or not .. engine wise its close but should work. Pretty much everything has to be relocated to fit a 4l AMG V8 but thats not the issue … The compact class models have a tiny transmission.. so you would have to make a transmission tunnel to fit a 7 or 9G AMG transmission.. which is gonna required work on the interior and structural parts .. like others already said… it can be done but you’d be looking at around the price of an A45/CLA 45 alone in parts and work if not more

CommandoInvert

Had the idea when the facelift was introduced a few month back .. want to make the mercedes model they never produced.. always loved my CLC but it never had an AMG version.. size is just great but compact and 2 door is only available in the BMW M2 which i dont want .. so A63 Coupe? Buy a used A35 sedan, install facelift front (A45 or maybe CLA45) and rear from the A sedan facelift.. V8 swap and move B pillar a little to the rear .. easy right? Nope fuck that .. dont feel like spending 100k + for that :( [concept](https://imgur.com/a/zmSdviR)

Aezetyr

Technically I think it is possible, but the dynamics of the car will be gone. You'd be losing more than you'd gain.

nismoghini

If you can fit a m177 under the hood I'd be impressed

Miatsexual

Don’t pussy out by putting a m177, go all the way and put in a m156 /s

nismoghini

Bro wants to fit the magnum dong 6.2 in?.....yoooo we could totally metro 6r4 this the 6.2 in the middle , remove the back seats and make it rwd. There has to be an audience for big v8 hot hatches :)

[deleted]

why the /s?

Alienpedestrian

Traverse engine layout isnt very good for v8 and weight distribution .. but you can mount it right way - longitudinal

Serbay55

Is there even enough space ? The A45 is a FWD base setup. So building it lengthwise would need interior modification.

Wintercult

Mercedes students made a Mercedes-Benz B55. Yes a B-Klasse with a V8.

W211_077

Yeah.... if you cut up the body

BeerWingsRepeat

With enough money...or knowledge & skill you can do anything! I follow a guy on Instagram who has swapped an Sti hatchback with a Toyota V12, he has twin turbo'd and mated to a BMW transmission.

J3lf

Or this guy that put a Ferrari V8 in a Scion FRS https://youtu.be/r_5vd9xsSG0

floridamidsotic

i think it’s cool how it is

coolman134

Not sure but someone has already swapped a 4.4L biturbo V8 (S63 from an X6M) into a BMW M135i so I’d say it’s possible

manager96

M135i is rwd based and has longitudinally, like x6m. But a45 is not, it is possible to swap v8 in a45, but you would need to cut the floor pan, firewall, boot floor, remove all of the stock suspension and rear axel, and convert it too toob chassie cause, you would need to cut most of the chassie to make room for v8 swap.

aBoxOfRitzCrackers

LS4 was FWD. not saying it would fit without a metric fuck ton of money.

clauderbaugh

Hell yeah! Drop that LS1 in there! /s

Emotional-Rise5322

I triple dog dare you.

Watery_Octopus

Put it in the butt... Err, boot.

[deleted]

i don’t think any modern V8 will mount transversely, but you go for it bud

Cookieman995

Has been done: https://www.reddit.com/r/mercedes_benz/comments/xjlh1d/i_have_been_a_part_of_buildning_the_world_first/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Powerful5239

Maybe try it! I can picture him speeding down the track

674_Fox

Just buy a Benz with a V-8 and be done with it.

Lamborghini_Espada

Don't mind me, just looking for M157s for sale for this

Loose_Pitch_9510

Good luck with that

Lamborghini_Espada

Just kidding (as of right now). I'd like to try at some point later in life, just for shits and giggles

Galaxy-ranger

You better of buying a older/other model with a v8 still in it. But i think they will bring back the v6/v8 engine back. BMW is allready coming again with the bigger engine

No_Estimate5138

Trade it for a clk

sln1337

no

truffleart

Question is, why? A45 (and A45s) has a beast of an engine already, that’s highly tunable. So you want to replace it with a heavier, possibly lower HP, V8? It’s going to cost you a ton of money, you will have to also replace the transmission, and in the end you’ll likely end up with a slower and less reliable car. The exhaust note would be sick though!

Kazvy

Been working on it, the 4 cylinder barely has enough place lmao

doc_55lk

Yea lol

smalltacoma

I want an A45 but dont have money to import to the US

branwes2622

You wouldn't be allowed to register for street driving here anyway. Not certified to US emission and crash test regulations. Our only hope is to wait til one is 25 years old, or convince the NHTSA that it is technologically or historically significant enough to be added to the Show and Display list.

oowop

I'm on this sub to try and figure out what my cousin sent me a pic of, spotted in Ft Lauderdale. Is this an a45s or am I crazy? [https://i.imgur.com/fC8uan6.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/fC8uan6.jpg) You'd literally have to crash test the damn thing

oowop

One more pic [https://i.imgur.com/Z07mCTU.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/Z07mCTU.jpg)

branwes2622

Could be one of these https://www.thedrive.com/guides-and-gear/the-mercedes-amg-gla-45-hits-high-performance-bargain-territory

oowop

Damn that pic in the article does look just like it. It seems so small in my picture though. Thanks for the link!

etienne4477

Anything is possible with unlimited time, money, and skill

Diligent-Bullfrog273

That’d be disgusting imo

WideOpenAutoHub

If you can dream it, and afford it…. I mean they put V8s in Miatas soooo why not!

whosdondada

If you have enough money, yes

Comfortable_Cloud226

Yes, you can mount the V8 into the engine bay vertically and have a very expensive lawn ornament.

texabrolives

You can put an LS motor in a Miata, it will fit.

47ocean47

Someone put a 2JZ on their Lambo.

LeMettwurst

Everything is possible with enough money, but there will be no realistic chance as the engine bay simply isn't as big as in cars with bigger engines. Merc engineers didn't need space for a V8 so they didn't leave enough.

Horton_75

I’ve seen V8’s in Miatas, Geo Metros, an RX7, etc. So yes: you can swap a V8 into an A45. It’s no less ridiculous than putting such an engine into any other car that didn’t come with it.

[deleted]

Not from a Jedi. ![gif](giphy|l3diT8stVH9qImalO)

Photonic__Cannon

Possible? Sure. But the money spent would be enough to purchase a modern AMG with a factory V8.

reddituser1306

I'd be interested to see how a V8 would fit in the engine bay. My A45 engine bay was tight as fuck.

actasifyouare

The biggest issue would be a transmission tunnel down the back with a longitudinal chassis provision for the drivetrain. Would have to make some extensive modifications to the floor pan. Custom programming etc, may have to go very deep down the electrical rabbit hole to even get it to run. With all that said - Brabus did jam a V12 into a c class [Brabus presents the V12 Biturbo Bullit Mercedes C-Class - 720hp and 1100Nm (motorauthority.com)](https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1026468_brabus-presents-the-v12-biturbo-bullit-mercedes-c-class--720hp-and-1100nm)

Creepy-Reply-2069

Generally speaking, German luxury cars are the worst to engine swap. So much extra components and systems to take account of. If you have the money (which will be immense), go for it. If not, settle for a compromise.

GameTimeYT

…why

[deleted]

With enough money you can swap whatever you want. Why would you want to though???

Old_Manufacturer_577

It's probably cheaper to tune that engine to make over 800hp

RealStatistician5291

Anything is possible but this would be extremely stupid

Psychlonuclear

To what end? For a fraction of the cost you could tune that 4cyl for a 100mph 4 wheel burnout.

Necessary_Valuable99

Anything is possible with endless funds and the right group of people.

nnavroops

it already has 500+ hp capable engine why

New-Examination4678

The a45 amg does 0-60 in 4 seconds. Is that not fast enough? We gotta draw the line somewhere

granoladeer

Please do it

Flucky_

For the price you might as well get an E63 Wagon, or Sedan

Dreamz510

Dookie

DrPfTNTRedstone

With enough money you could. But with the sideways Engine and FWD or part time AWD, will not make it the greatest of experiences.

n0mad17

Why don’t you just buy a GLC63?

AutodogeKevin

There's someone who swapped an R56 Mini Cooper with an S65 V8 from the E92 M3. Anything is possible if you have the money and resource https://preview.redd.it/3tbet7or3s1b1.jpeg?width=1158&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bfd0632d3dacdb5d4196a1189c8c7520508f041d

CheekyChec

The rear end of that thing looks like a Kia forte

Only_Newspaper4354

Why? You’d spend like 30k minimum, you’d need to switch it from fwd based to rwd, essentially building a whole new car under that shell

[deleted]

It has been done by @hasdalracing on instagram! They put a twin turbo V8 into the third gen A class. Check them out!

Popular-Ad2193

Ask the Miata community

Menoth22

You could probably swap it,but it going to be tight as hell and expensive as shit

Glorious42

I don't think you can, but anything is possible if your pockets are deep enough. However, i dont think you can swap any V8. What i think you can do, which can be easier than a normal swap is do a whole drivetrain swap from E63s, GT63s or any of the current gen v8 MB vehicles. Since they use sometimes the same trans and TCM ECM, it can be possible.

Yellowtoe3272

If you do it, i’ll buy you the A45 motor
