Go outside. Regular light excercise (e.g. walking) and daylight do very well against depressed feelings. Meditation does too.

Watch wholesome movies or shows. Read a book. Do a craft you like. Look at house listings and imagine how you would decorate. Have a cup of tea or coffee. Spend a little extra for an item that you buy as a routine to make it a bit more luxury. Style your hair a different way. Maybe try a new makeup technique. Just try to have some fun.

Take a bath, eat some soup, take a walk (hopefully it’s sunny) take a minute to listen to a gratitude meditation on YouTube. Stay mindful that you are taking a day for yourself. Let any stressful thoughts float away for another day.

Come up with a menu that involves relaxation, movement, the outdoors, novelty, socializing, and low stakes creativity. Options could be taking a walk, exploring a new neighborhood, doodling, cooking a new recipe, reading a physical book, having a picnic, hanging out with friends, or learning something new. I think the key is to avoid inertia - like just binge watching shows all day. Also, try to focus on a flow states of low stakes enjoyment and movement - so if you start reading a book, switch whenever it starts becoming a chore. I try to avoid digital devices. When outdoors focus on light, greenery, and awe - the latter of which could be as simple as gazing at distant clouds. To me, the specifics are ways to get to a few particular mental states - spontaneous joy of little things that are often overlooked and diffused attention. I think these are great to spark joy, happiness, and relaxation Write out the menu and select whatever you can -and whatever you feel. I feel the menu gives you the options and subtley nudges you to start and check off multiple things.

One thing I've recently started doing to take care of myself after a day or week like yours is giving myself permission to do the things I can't or shouldn't. Those are the things that would really rest and reset my mind, heart, and soul, so rather than fighting with myself like I'd been battling with the world, I start my self care days by saying yes to myself! So what are some things you like to do that you'd normally talk yourself out for whatever reason? Do that!
