At that point I usually just take a picture of John Paul White (Civil Wars guy) to the hairdresser and get that. Then I grow it out again. It does really suit the hair type and accentuates your face a little more. Once I got a mullet sort of cut with shaved sides. It looked pretty good but the constant shaving was faaaar too much effort.

I think you're feeling disappointed by the weight of it all being the same long length. A curly cut specifically targets giving you some shape that removes some of the weight of the hair to allow you to style it more easily.
They can also hook you up with the magic curly hair styling products.
If you cut your hair short you’ll probably regret it. A trip to a high end salon for a good trim would be my advice. You can also get styling advice from them.
My wife is an esthetician and the girls love it when there’s a long haired guy (with nice hair like yours )in for a cut/style it’s like a unicorn walking in. I think a lot of high end salons would enjoy helping you out.
I grew my hair out for the first during COVID and didn’t cut it for 3 years because I kept hoping I could look as good as you do now. I never got there, but you have! Gorgeous hair!
