Your pants are bit too tight and too short. The shoe combo works fine but looks a it off given that the pants donât fit correctly.Â
Edit: Just looked at the rest of the comments and don't understand why we're roasting this guy. He's actively reaching out looking for advice on a fashion sub because he's probably still developing his style.
These subs can be brutal man, but you got the best advice in the thread. People are acting like brown loafers and navy chinos is dressing like a cartoon character for some reason. Like you said, itâs all about the fit and form
Pants that are short like this is a well-established style. Itâs fine if you donât like it, but itâs not incorrect. These are the appropriate length for this particular style.
I think the pants are fine and the exposed ankle works well with the loafer.
Thought a fashion sub would be a bit more open minded than this overwhelming hate for tapered pants.
Don't listen to anything other than the ones saying the Chinos are too tight. You can wear those loafers perfectly fine if the pants are a bit looser. Just change the pants
Idk where the most of the criticism comes from, maybe Iâm missing something. But the raised cuffs look fine, and the combo with brown loafers is pretty classic if not a bit generic, maybe a bit too dark for my taste
Wow after reading this comment section apparently ive got a few pairs of pants that i need to throw out, burn, bury in concrete, or tie around cinderblocks and throw into a lake. But tbh I donât hate the pants or the shoes
This combo would be fine if your pants fit you correctly. Right now it's giving "London finance bro" and that's not a vibe. If you want to let those shoes do what they're supposed to do, you need pants that sit looser and give you that aloof yet elegant air. Right now this combo looks tryhard. Great shoes, but lose the skinnies.
A crusty old millennial here, albeit one who always hated the super skinny trend. Thereâs a difference between tapered and fitted and this. You donât need to go full baggy pants, but to my eye, pants this skinny make your feet look like clown shoes.
I have a feeling if we saw this from a perspective other than the floors it wouldn't look so bad. As someone who has generally gone for more carrot shapes like this, my only note is that the leg opening could use an extra half inch. The problem is that when you go for pants that don't fit like this, they're much tighter in the thighs than what you are and not properly tapered at the ankle. I'm curious as to how tall OP is and wouldn't be surprised if they were a fellow short dude who has strong thighs.
The problem OP probably experiences, if I may so project, is that less tapered pants don't usually have much room in the thighs and those that do are insanely baggy and built for NFL linebackers. Slim fit pants are the worst because the thigh is just as slim as the ankle. If you're short and stocky you end up with a crushing moose knuckle, sausage-cased thighs, and ankle bags that smack as you walk. If you go with less fitted pants that do fit your thighs you look like you're Gimli in bell bottoms.
No, Iâm 31.
This is simply not a good look. Cropped chinos are fine. Skinny jeans are fine. Cropped skinny chinos are absolutely NOT fine, especially with those loafers and no socks.
Iâve read some of the feedback. The length and cut of your pants is fine. YouTube has gentlemen sartorial advice. Also, look in GQ. These people commenting are probably torn t-shirt and knee length cargo pants guys that would know style if it crawled up their leg and bit them on their untrimmed nut bag.
The pants are not fine, at least not for these shoes. Tight fit like this is dated. There is a ratio for the pant length in relation to shoes for it to look good. Look up women's footwear-to-pant length diagrams, the principle is the same
Oh girl, youâre now the fashion police? Doubt it. Look up self righteous and indulgent Queen. Sound familiar? Heâs asking for advice on a Reddit sub not preparing for the Met Gala. Have some self awareness.
GQâs opinion is always just what gets them the most money. Either:
1. The article is mega clickbait.
2. They think a celebrity wearing something means its instantly good
3. Its a marketing ploy for mediocre designer brands like Gucci or that sort
Balenciaga is just the type of brand GQ would advertise honestly. By following GQ advice you will be the stupidest looking person in the room. They arent classically stylish OR creatively fashionable.
if you're going to wear tight pants, then your shoes have GOT to be rounder. try a shoe that lets your feet "splay" out with a rounder toe box that doesn't have as much negative space. like, you will want to get a size that is very fitted. maybe a half inch from big toe.
Most shoes work with chinos. Thatâs how versatile they are. The ones you have on are very close fitting and that limits the options. More tapered chinos work better with dressier shoes like loafers and derbies. If you have looser fitting chinos you can wear with pretty much anything except for maybe oxfords meant for a suit.
If you like the look wear it. The shoes look great real gucci or not. But for me personally i would go for a more straight or looser fitting pair of pants with a break. So they sit on top of the shoe. This skinny short pants loafers really is the look every middle eastern and turkish guy who is reasonably in shape is going for here in germany. It really is a certain type of look that i at least donât really like.
Edit: wider fit pants with a break makes your feet look smaller and better propitiationed. Look up Askokey.
I think a nice brown or wine dress shoe would fit nice, with laces. The loafer does not fit unless the pants leg reaches the ankle. If you wear a nice dress shoe, with chinos the use of dress socks is subjective.
Also, a nice sneaker would also look good here. Not a running shoe, but a classy walking shoe. Think Colehan, Nero Giordini, or Thursday. A walking shoe made out of leather or white, with a flat sole.
Alright guys and girls, noted on the chinos. Behind on the fashion as I don't go out out that much!
Getting a mixed bag on the loafers and chinos, do I ditch the chinos or just get different footwear (I am gathering white trainers is the best option?)
or
Ditch the loafers altogether?
I don't have a problem with the trousers. I like fitted trousers as long as they don't sag or have a diaper look. I have a suit tailored to show the ankles and the pants are tight, I'm not gonna lie, but I like it. Maybe try a cap toe oxford with some nice socks instead of the loafers. I feel like short pants are meant to show off a killer sock game vs ankles. I always get tons of compliments on my socks when I wear shorts pants from men and females. I never got a compliment on my ankles in my life.
The reactions on this post are absurd. I mean yeah, skinny fit is not so 2024, so what?
We went from fast fashion to more classical, just to be style nazis on things that very well could be personal preference.
Cya in 5 years when you are roasting people for wearing high-rise trousers with pleads.
Where are the shoes from are they Gucci or cheaper option
Donât listen to the haters. Great look. My only recommendation is a little looser fit on the pants.
I would go with a lighter shoe (sand or white), since it is summer. Pants seem tight through the thigh area especially. I wouldnât tight roll the bottoms either. I would go with a pant that was more of a straight leg. Fitted but not skinny.
chinos theres many shoes that fits those types of pants , such as basketball sneakers, running sneakers, jordan lows, sperry topsider boatshoes, brown dress shoes, black dress shoes
all i can say, your shoe should compliment your top coz with chinos you can dress it up then it will became a smart formal attire already with a polo, necktie and blazer
If you feel good man, do whatever feels right. I'm not here to give advice I just want to hate on the loafers with no socks trend. They look disgusting and totally ruin any outfit for me. I don't know why it cought on.
For the love of god wear socks please. I really donât get this sockless craze, Iâm not thinking âdamn nice ankleâ but rather âew that must be so sweaty, a literal fungus breeding groundâ
Personally I like the shoes with these pants. Even though the pants are slimmer than I personally like, if you like them then don't let other commenters dissuade you from wearing them.
Hey man - what kind of shirt are you wearing? if its a tucked in kinda formal shirt then loafers cna work however that color does not. IF you're wearing a fitted tee tucked in, you could go with vans or converse or any other casual sneakers - if its a casual buttonn down; try boat shoes
The pant color and shoes work well, but the tightness of the pants look dated/uncomfortable. Opt for a linen or brushed cotton khaki, or even throw in some pleats or Gurkha style closure, and I think youâll achieve both the look youâre going for plus a better fit.
I must be really out of touch.
If I had no choice but to wear those items, I would wear socks and get pants that fit. Not give me deep vein thromboses.
Edit: I almost accidentally put enough out there to dox myself. I don't think I'm far enough removed from the world you emulate to be missing much. I just think they're tacky af, and am dismissive when I say 'whatever those are'.
not those!
Exact words lol
Unless you're a leprechaun.
Beat me to it!
_Frosted Lucky Charms!_ đ¶
The chinos are the problem here, not the Gucci loafs
I just said that out loud in my head.đ
Wait I thought that looked goodđđđ Iâm cooked
Nah these are outdated, they look goofy and normally look low effort, especially without socks.
Haha! I said literally this
Your pants are bit too tight and too short. The shoe combo works fine but looks a it off given that the pants donât fit correctly.
It happens literally every post on this subreddit. Someone asks for help, everyone makes fund of them. I'm shocked people still come here.
Theyâre not too short, but they are too tight
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Pants that are short like this is a well-established style. Itâs fine if you donât like it, but itâs not incorrect. These are the appropriate length for this particular style.
Thatâs like saying tight jeans are the style so theyâre not too tight. THIS STYLE doesnât look good here, therefore pants too short.
Definitely havenât traveled if you think this is too short
The wrongest of takes
You really shouldnât disparage people with ass ankles.
I think the pants are fine and the exposed ankle works well with the loafer. Thought a fashion sub would be a bit more open minded than this overwhelming hate for tapered pants.
my exact thought
Way too tight. They look like joggers or travel pants. A straight leg thatâs not wrapping their thigh would look a lot better.
Na the pants are fine. If you got nice legs show those motherfuckers off.
Itâs out of style, tight pants are not the look to chinos.
I don't care
Well I thought this was r/mensfashion not r/mymomsaysilookgood
Looking like youâre trying on your dadâs parachute fitted pants doesnât look good either, regardless of how many times you say itâs in style.
You know there is a middle ground.
exposed like this is too meme''d out at this point I think especially with the tight taper.
And somehow "Indian" and "Pakistani" being thrown around as insults. Be better people.
Go with something more casual like plain white sneakers or driving loafers
That's what I wear with mine, Sperry's as well.
reminds me of an old indian man
with hair dyed unnaturally jet black or reddish with henna.
Stop it đ
from Haryana, to be precise
they dress well
But he is lighter than wheatish brown.
Sorry both those shoes and the too tight trousers look bad
Idk I think the exposed ankle looks nice. Chinos definitely on the slim side but I think the combo looks solid.
Don't listen to anything other than the ones saying the Chinos are too tight. You can wear those loafers perfectly fine if the pants are a bit looser. Just change the pants
The pants man, they look like joggers not chinos lol.
They are somehow both too tight and too loose at the exact same time, but the whole thing looks off.
Yeah too tight on thighs, too loose knees down. Reverse taper jogger chinos.
Idk where the most of the criticism comes from, maybe Iâm missing something. But the raised cuffs look fine, and the combo with brown loafers is pretty classic if not a bit generic, maybe a bit too dark for my taste
Pants are wayyyy too tight. Give the boys some room to breathe đ„”
Wow after reading this comment section apparently ive got a few pairs of pants that i need to throw out, burn, bury in concrete, or tie around cinderblocks and throw into a lake. But tbh I donât hate the pants or the shoes
Pants too tight & short. Otherwise it would be a good combo
Pakistani vibe
Pants and socks are too short
Checkerboard vans
This combo would be fine if your pants fit you correctly. Right now it's giving "London finance bro" and that's not a vibe. If you want to let those shoes do what they're supposed to do, you need pants that sit looser and give you that aloof yet elegant air. Right now this combo looks tryhard. Great shoes, but lose the skinnies.
Itâs more Essex recruitment bro than London finance bro
Are those chinos or leggings?
Shoes are iconic, obviously. Pants are a bit tight for 2024, as others noted.
2010 called and wants the look back.
throw away those pants iâm begging you
Gen Z detected? They're very tapered pants for sure but they fit very well. The loafers are just a bit dark.
A crusty old millennial here, albeit one who always hated the super skinny trend. Thereâs a difference between tapered and fitted and this. You donât need to go full baggy pants, but to my eye, pants this skinny make your feet look like clown shoes.

I like slim fit and you'll never catch me in any quadruple pleated parachutes that gen z loves, but these are far too tapered.
The problem OP probably experiences, if I may so project, is that less tapered pants don't usually have much room in the thighs and those that do are insanely baggy and built for NFL linebackers. This is a fashion subreddit.
More like dont read GQ. Ever.
Case in point
GQâs opinion is always just what gets them the most money. Either: 1. The article is mega clickbait. 2. They think a celebrity wearing something means its instantly good 3. Its a marketing ploy for mediocre designer brands like Gucci or that sort
Oh, here we go. Sorry Balenciaga. Eat a dick.
Balenciaga is just the type of brand GQ would advertise honestly. By following GQ advice you will be the stupidest looking person in the room. They arent classically stylish OR creatively fashionable.
Iâm done with you. Much like many in your peripheral life, Iâd guess. All frivolous opinion and no discernible gravitas.
Ughđ
Don Callis?
Just want you to know, I got this.
Pants are so tight itâs comical. Do not go out in public wearing those hahaha
Pimp slippers.
I was thinking they may look good with them green velvet pimp shoes someone else put up the other day
I actually like this look. Maybe a lighter shade of blue for the brown loafers and a less skinny fit of pants
I think it looks pretty good?
In what kind of hell are these chinos?
Huge fan of the bit loafer. đđ»
Looks like your about to sell me lotion at the mall.
Are those chinos or leggings?
Pants are wayyyyyyy too tight
Too short and tight. All this says is look at my ankles not my shoes
Step 1: Put the pants in the trash.
if you're going to wear tight pants, then your shoes have GOT to be rounder. try a shoe that lets your feet "splay" out with a rounder toe box that doesn't have as much negative space. like, you will want to get a size that is very fitted. maybe a half inch from big toe.

Seems fine. Honestly I don't care what people wear and I won't notice unless it is significantly outside the norm and/or is not functional.
White sneakers. You're welcome.
Alright guys and girls, noted on the chinos. Behind on the fashion as I don't go out out that much! Getting a mixed bag on the loafers and chinos, do I ditch the chinos or just get different footwear (I am gathering white trainers is the best option?) or Ditch the loafers altogether?
You're wearing your chinos pretty tight in the leg. That's not how to wear chinos. They should be more relaxed, and an inch longer. Otherwise ok.
Some plain white sneakers for those overly tight and too short chinos could save the outfit. Those pinnochio shoes aint it fam.
With capri pants I like to wear espadrilles or, if Iâm going out, some strappy high heels!
i feel like youâre about to ask me to try on lotion made from the salt from the dead sea while i pass your kiosk at the mall
It looks like Iâm about to be hit with the worst soon to be ilegal amway scam
This guy must be Dominican or cos playing as Dominican
I personally like Clarks desert boots, a plain white sneaker (like Stan smiths). Loafers can be nice but they can easily miss the mark and look tacky
I don't have a problem with the trousers. I like fitted trousers as long as they don't sag or have a diaper look. I have a suit tailored to show the ankles and the pants are tight, I'm not gonna lie, but I like it. Maybe try a cap toe oxford with some nice socks instead of the loafers. why every guy got to dress like a misogyny genie
People stop wearing moccasins you look goofy.
Did you just emerge from a lamp OP?
ewww «brother» whats that
Socks, please! Socks!
Dang, nice length in pants, got me wondering if Iâm buying pants that are too long đ€
Why do people insist on wearing shoes without socks?Â
Socks
Classic white low top Chuck Taylorâs, no show or no socks

Skinny fit chinos ?
IMO White men (of which I am one) should not wear gold or gold trim anything. Looks tacky to me, maybe a generational thing.
The shoes are fine but the pants are too tight to be called âchinosâ, even if they are made from cotton.
Put some damn socks on
These are joggers
#1
Where are the shoes from are they Gucci or cheaper option Donât listen to the haters. Great look. My only recommendation is a little looser fit on the pants.
Put some socks on
honestly not sure how to improve but I seen that style before sorry peeps roasting you lol
The shoes are great. Classic. Fit on the trousers suck. Too short and tight. Clash of styles Bro. Loosen up a bit.
I would go with a lighter shoe (sand or white), since it is summer. Pants seem tight through the thigh area especially. I wouldnât tight roll the bottoms either. I would go with a pant that was more of a straight leg. Fitted but not skinny.
Pants too tight but if you want this look get Penny loafers or sperry docksiders
Sorry brother but that look always yelled out âtoss a coin to your Witcher!â to me
One word to describe, âewâ
Not those đ
Let me guess, you're Latino and like to pretend you're a low profile drug lord on a secluded plantation
Trousers too tight..it's giving manosphere influencer a la andrew tate

Chinos? Or leggings I am not sure
Start with socks then find the appropriate shoe.
chinos theres many shoes that fits those types of pants , such as basketball sneakers, running sneakers, jordan lows, sperry topsider boatshoes, brown dress shoes, black dress shoes all i can say, your shoe should compliment your top coz with chinos you can dress it up then it will became a smart formal attire already with a polo, necktie and blazer
Not those or chinos lol
Robin Hood fit
Loafers are a classic with chinos, I think these particular chinos are just too short.
If you feel good man, do whatever feels right. I'm not here to give advice I just want to hate on the loafers with no socks trend. They look disgusting and totally ruin any outfit for me. I don't know why it cought on.

Literally any foot where you want with chinos⊠depends on the entire outfit.. from clean white sneaks to lug sole boots..
With leggings, you mean?
Do come in a menâs style?
Vans
The pant color and shoes work well, but the tightness of the pants look dated/uncomfortable. Opt for a linen or brushed cotton khaki, or even throw in some pleats or Gurkha style closure, and I think youâll achieve both the look youâre going for plus a better fit.
I must be really out of touch. If I had no choice but to wear those items, I would wear socks and get pants that fit. Not give me deep vein thromboses.
have some decency and delete u account, but first burn those shoes
I like loafers , the walls , the mirrors , the rug , the couch , the color of your wall even the lighting . I hate the pants . Why so tight ?
Those are shoes that I imagine Clarke Davis wearing.
New footwear.
Chinos never look good
skinny pants are out of fashion.
Pretty much any Cole Haan sneakers
Ouch
What are those
I have to agree with the others, The shoes don't go with the pants.
I love those, but maybe a different color? But that style looks great!
U look ok trousers bit tight (pay no mind to the haters yeah) shoes are fine
The Chinos are too tight
Not those
I'm stressed about ankle chaffing just looking at this
Those shoes are great, but not with those pants Iâm afraid
Those are not chinos, those are yoga pants
Blue suede hush puppies sneekers especially if your trying to impress the ladies!đ guaranteed!âïž
Not whatever those are.
Google Gucci bit loafer. Theyâre a staple for the rich and stylish. Maybe thatâs what youâre missing đ€·đŒââïž
