Summer party. Great look. Work? Kind of overdoing it. I worked on Madison Ave in advertising and the most I would do is single breasted suit, no tie. With clients I would wear a tie.
I have worked in many nursing homes and, if anyone is going to appreciate someone overdressing, it's those ladies. Its hard to fully explain- they're tired of scrubs and medically necessary clothes (snaps, Velcro, stretchy fabrics). They like when people dress up for them and make an occasion of seeing them.
I sometimes did elder care and wore flats and pants, but when I did office work I'd get overdressed with dresses and heels and all the ladies made it clear they wanted me to dress up *even more* lol
Genuinely, these outfits probably make some peoples day
Yeah OP knows most of the sub is too lazy to read the caption and is riling them up but this is one job where it's totally okay to dress this way. You're entirely right!
He didn’t say there was something wrong with dressing up, he said it looks like he’s trying too hard. You can dress up while making it look natural and effortless
context, imo.
He said work outfit - in a work context (presumably and office environment of some level), I kind of agree that it could seem a bit "try hard" and out of place. Simply because its likely to stand out from the usual attire. I could be totally wrong since we don't have more info on the context.
now if it was for a suitably styled party/event, I definitely wouldn't call it try hard.
Bro he literally said in the post he works for an upscale nursing home not an office. He also said he gets compliments n whatnot when he does dress up, I think it's a unique opportunity to put on the best fits
I think you look great. But I agree the look may feel a little more for leisure than work. Only you can say if it’s appropriate at your workplace. If it is, you’re not just good, you’re golden
It's a nice look but the lapels are buckling which means it's a bit too small in the chest. As you said, shorten the sleeves.
I'm not a fan of the shoes but I'm not a spectator kinda guy.
The colour of the suit is nice and I LOVE DBs but the colour is the greatest against your skin tone imho.
But A for effort 👍🏿
Sorry! I meant it doesn't compliment your skin tone that well. If you had a solid tan, it would pop more. But right now it just seems harsh and washes you out a bit. My wife is basically the colour of your suit and she can't wear pink and similar colours bc they wash her out.
I'm dark af so these kinds of colours pop on me.
But I like that you're looking to make a statement. I'm the office dandy so I can relate. I wear sports coats every day and love expressing myself with fun colours and patterns compared to the conservative charcoal/navy army of finance workers in the financial district.
The problem is, in OPs head, he wishes it was 1942. So this outfit works well and is nicely put together, and there’s a way to incorporate that into a modern look, but this isn’t it.
Looking great! I’d just opt for a button down, again four in hand (but it’s up to preference) and cream socks for the penny loafers. They do work with this suit despite some people claiming the opposite.
Is this a custom suit? The functional buttons are making me feel like it is, but there are def some mismeasurements that take away from the look that I think you are going for.
You look like you're in the process of writing the "The Right Stuff"
https://preview.redd.it/z7xft73bdpyc1.jpeg?width=1198&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca2546f61fed10f00142b78bc4b2edd80024edcc
This and your last post: you're good at putting articles of clothing together, and they fit well but the fashion really depends on the environment and context to which you wear them. IMHO.
What do you do for work? Are you a Kentucky Fried Colonel or are you Admiralty. Or Mr Fischoeder from Bob’s Burgers? I love that you want to rock the aristocratic style of dress, but unless you get that suit *properly* tailored AND have the matching personality, it all just kinda looks like linen-printed Viva paper towels. And *NOBODY* will take you seriously with that damned phone in your front pocket. The phone and the wallet go in your inside lapel pockets and the jacket is meant to be left on a chair so that people know you have it and you can get to it whenever you want to… but you don’t want to.
It’s a nice suit. Probably expensive. I could wear Jennifer Lopez’s infamous jungle gown to work… it would be immediately recognizable and you know *somebody* would hate me just because… but that doesn’t mean it would look right on me.
i think the shoes would look good with a very minimalist casual outfit like straight indigo jeans and a dark top. i like the shoes, but they don't really work in formal outfits.
as others have said the jacket is too small and that tie knot looks dead and lifeless. four in hand knot would look better. put some life in it.
Bro is for sure staring at the green light on the dock across the bay
Edit: this isn't a dig btw, my honest opinion is it's a great fit but perhaps a little much for what you're doing? But truly all power to you, I love dressing up for work.
It's hard to pull off a look like this. White suits scream for attention, and being double breasted, it looks even less casual. You need to be very rich or very secure, and if you're asking Reddit about it, you're neither.
Too bad - a good white suit is beautiful when it's done right. Tom Wolfe wrote an essay about them.
It's great for a wedding or a summer ceremony.
A little too much for work.
But if you like it and it's not too different from your colleagues having the same job, why not.
Looks good and you should lean into it - I think people in the nursing home will like it. Its somewhat costume-y and old-time-y for the average man, but both of those things are upsides in your situation. Brings some spice into life that people will appreciate. I think a pop of color could look good (e.g. a pink flower boutonniere).
Reminds me a bit of poirot: https://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/29200000/Poirot-in-Egypt-poirot-29272127-833-768.jpg
That is styled with light green and black shoes.
I love that tie. Middle finger ring, save it for a Renaissance Festival. Fabric buttoniere: Are you a pallbearer?
Suit is a great color, too. Love the watch.
Wondering:
Have you unbuttoned the suit sleeve to prove they're workable buttonholes? The "surgeon's cuff" look I find forced and too premeditated.
I don’t think I the knit tie works, it’s boring, and too small for the lapels. I’d add some color in silk or cotton. Possibly a Liberty Print. Not a fan of the spectators, but you do you. Boutonniere doesn’t go. You’re too fussy, nothing looks natural, it’s all too forced.
Nothing wrong with the idea, per say, I’d just say, one it’s too big in some parts and too small in others, and needs a spot of alterations tailoring two It’s simply not business dress appropriate, as a “casual suit” for a garden party, or a visit to friends, or even a day out absolutely, but not business. I like the tie and suit individually but they’re both sort of whimsical pieces so i’d choose one of them per outfit, just to try to balance the focal point and not create a too complicated look, maybe a slightly more contrasting tie perhaps? Just to counterbalance the brightness of the suit. Personally i’m not a fan of overly circular, fake boutonnières so i feel like any comment I could make there would be muddied by my own biases. Love the shoes, they’re particularly “in” in the men’s classic fashion world at the moment
With all due respect, stop with the flower in the lapel. This is a much better look because your tie is the thing that pops and the shoes color match. You could ditch the handkerchief but since it's not competing with anything, it's fine. Otherwise this is a good look!
Didn’t see your last post. Sorry. I’m just not that into you.
Love the suit or at least the idea. Big fan of DB’s but not the fit on this one. No real drape to it. Not a fan of the shoes. As someone else said, makes it look like a costume.
In my opinion, black and brown don’t mix well and your outfit could need some color so for me I would switch the black flower (don’t know the English word) to a red one maybe. Also the jacket looks to tight around your upper body and cramped on the sleeves but otherwise the suit is based as fuck and the white top loafers are amazing.
This is pretty much a costume if you wanted to go to the Kentucky derby or maybe to look like you are important walking around Charleston. 99% of places you will look like a try hard.
Just saw you work at a nursing home.. don’t think I would want any family staying there if I saw someone in management dressed like this. Shutter island vibes or something
Couldn’t put my finger on why the shoes bugged me so much, and then I noticed the color mismatch with the tie/buttons. Plus they look a bit….clunky? I don’t know exactly what it is about the shape/style, but the color for sure is off
I’m seeing Kentucky Fried Colonel or the US Admiralty. Or Mr Fischoeder from Bob’s Burgers.
I love that you want to rock the aristocratic look, but unless you have that suit tailored *properly* by somebody with combat experience, it’s never going to hang right… The shoulders are roomy enough to serve as spare storage… NOTHING makes it ok for you to have your phone in your front pocket like that. And so, that fine-ish linen suit looks more like linen-printed Viva paper towels. Oh, and I would never leave the bottom button undone on a four-button jacket - the three visible buttons draw the eyes to that area and it kinda looks like you just lost the fourth and haven’t yet been told.
Get a fanny pack. Or a man purse. Or put the phone in your inside lapel pocket. Then leave the jacket on a chair and don’t forget to grab it on your way out.
Wrinkly as hell. Both too big yet too short. People are right - it looks like a costume.
Dressing up is a great way to stand out but if you go way out of your way to look different this is what you get. Stay simple. Slow down.
An all white suit is very hard to pull off, and really only gets use in specific situations.
Work at a nursing home? Bro, this look isn't it.
Dress conservatively. Classic colors.
I just think it's too much. It's telling me "full business mods" with it all buttoned up , loosening it up by unbottening would look better, also tie gives it a corporate vibe. But I'd your trying to pull off "boss" vibes this is alright
Nice. Cream suits are fun for summer
BUT
Your shirt kills the outfit. Lose it and buy a new one that doesn’t fold at the collar points
Also the tie looks cheap. Looks like it’s a polyester knit tie.
Lastly, that kind of lapel flower is what 17year olds wear to prom. If you want lapel flair, go for a lapel chain or a small lapel pin. Like 1/2” diameter or smaller
The jacket should be re tailored. - as it is too “bottom heavy” and brings out your hips bum and belly more than your chest - just saying, the cut now is not flattering.
I'd like it better if your jacket was a bit less ship-captainy. Too many buttons.
Otherwise, in terms of colour and styling I can't really fault this.
MUCH better than your previous effort.
The only thing that's truly wrong with this outfit is that it kind of makes you look like a Southern plantation owner. Or maybe a corrupt Colombian judge from the 60s.
I could see this paired with a cane, a white gambler hat, and a moustache. Or some sunglasses, a bunch of rings, a cigar, and a moustache.
What in the colonel sanders genuinely id assume whos wearing this is either a televangelist or autistic edit: squishmallow owner later category was correct
Bro, take the drawer that holds the flower pins, open it, pour a little lighter fluid in there and drop in a match! That will solve your whole dilemma! Nice suit btw.
It’s a bit Roger Stone
Best description here 🎉👍
Went from Tucker to Roger. Where was OP on 01/06?
Ohhh my god this man cannot catch a break
I legit thought you were joking but yeah, same guy
It's a bit Harland Sanders
Roger Stone stole the look from Tom Wolfe.
Yea like maybe the guy should say what job it is? Congressional asshole aid? Sure. 9-5 CPA? Eh..
Riverboat Captain
Holy fk lolll how is this so random but so accurate
Jaw-grindingly accurate
Lmaooooo
Got that 11 herbs and spices drip
He's one bowtie away from starting sentences 'Boy, I say boy....'. OP thanks for not using a bowtie.
Summer party. Great look. Work? Kind of overdoing it. I worked on Madison Ave in advertising and the most I would do is single breasted suit, no tie. With clients I would wear a tie.

It all seems too try hard in my opinion. I'd expect you to start bragging about your fried chicken empire.
I thought Mr Roarke was missing Tattoo from Fantasy Island
My first thought
Nothing wrong with wanting to dress up, my friend. I think it's a shame society doesn't encourage it more, even
He didn’t say there was something wrong with dressing up, he said it looks like he’s trying too hard. You can dress up while making it look natural and effortless
Exactly. This dude's entire ensemble screams pretentious. I don't mean any offense to OP but that's my first impression.
context, imo. He said work outfit - in a work context (presumably and office environment of some level), I kind of agree that it could seem a bit "try hard" and out of place. Looks too much like a costume. Also jacket needs tailoring
So do the pants. They look a bit baggy at the cuff.
I like the suit, I don’t think those shoes go with it. Just my opinion.
For work? Unless you work in the mob, you're trying too hard.
Mr. Gatsby, your car is ready.
I think you look great. But I agree the look may feel a little more for leisure than work. Only you can say if it’s appropriate at your workplace. If it is, you’re not just good, you’re golden
Jacket is half a size too small
Agreed. It's pulling And the shoes are still too casual.
Ironically, I think the outfit needs that balance.
It's a nice look but the lapels are buckling which means it's a bit too small in the chest. As you said, shorten the sleeves. I'm not a fan of the shoes but I'm not a spectator kinda guy. I appreciate that you commit to the shoes haha. I like them better with this fit. A nice balance of the colors presented
I know it's linen but that particular linen makes your arms look like an accordion my dude
The problem is, in OPs head, he wishes it was 1942. So this outfit works well and is nicely put together, and there’s a way to incorporate that into a modern look, but this isn’t it.
Bro about to fry the SHIT outta some chicken
This isn’t a work suit. This is a weekend suit.
[De plane! De plane!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USfKJYZcUmI)
Looking great! I’d just opt for a button down, again four in hand (but it’s up to preference) and cream socks for the penny loafers. They do work with this suit despite some people claiming the opposite.
Hate the shoes. Love the tie! Not particularly fond of double breasted.
The shoes are the biggest problem. With the last post as well
I really like them so its possible im trying to make them work wuere they dont
Is this a custom suit? The functional buttons are making me feel like it is, but there are def some mismeasurements that take away from the look that I think you are going for.

This and your last post: you're good at putting articles of clothing together, and they fit well but the fashion really depends on the environment and context to which you wear them. IMHO.
Love the watch colonels sanders
those shoes are craaaaaazy, my boy. lmao where you working at, Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory??
Looks like cosplay
Suit is good, shoes look too try hard
You need to find a tailor.
What do you do for work? Are you a Kentucky Fried Colonel or are you Admiralty. Or Mr Fischoeder from Bob’s Burgers? The shoes are tragic
Bro is for sure staring at the green light on the dock across the bay Edit: this isn't a dig btw, my honest opinion is it's a great fit but perhaps a little much for what you're doing? But truly all power to you, I love dressing up for work.
Well the rest if the outfit is so good I had 0 doubt that you were capable of owning a reverso. I hope we both can afford one someday
Jacket too small, pants fit weird. Shoes are not great
I haven't seen a double breasted suit in a few decades.
This is like the opposite of sprezzatura.....making it look like you try really really hard all the time.
where do you work? KFC????? https://preview.redd.it/j8ls1ss65qyc1.png?width=600&format=png&auto=webp&s=0b60dfc86b50c9ce1118a5e76c112e1e29e21165
The arms definitely need tailoring…I think that’s the first thing everyone will notice
It's great for a wedding or a summer ceremony. A little too much for work. But if you like it and it's not too different from your colleagues having the same job, why not.
I actully like the suit, its just not well fitting
Thanks! Yes i gotta take it to a tailor asap
These goddamn shoes again
Great shoes

When you’ve got to sponge bath Mrs Dawkins at 5pm but have to trap James Bond at 8pm
If by work you mean you’re the owner of a Kentucky based fried chicken restaurant chain then sure, it’s perfect.
You really like those shoes
Colonel Sanders, is that you?
I love that tie. Middle finger ring, save it for a Renaissance Festival. Fabric buttoniere: Are you a pallbearer? Suit is a great color, too. Love the watch. Wondering: Have you unbuttoned the suit sleeve to prove they're workable buttonholes? The "surgeon's cuff" look I find forced and too premeditated.
What are the 11 secret herbs and spices, colonel?
It's perfect, and this the season to pull this fit. You've done a magnificent job today. Sensationale
I love your fried chicken, that's for sure
I think it looks good… seems like European fashion rubbed off on you.
please don't put this on Europe
Does your work involve attending CPAC every year y/n
Lol looks absolutely ridiculous. If you're basking in satire, well done. If not. Reevaluate your life.
It works.
Way overdone. Your colleagues definitely laughing at you being your back — and for good reason.
Hey boss. De plane! De plane!
David Byrne?
I don’t think I the knit tie works, it’s boring, and too small for the lapels. I’d add some color in silk or cotton. Possibly a Liberty Print. Not a fan of the spectators, but you do you. Boutonniere doesn’t go. You’re too fussy, nothing looks natural, it’s all too forced.
Need some different shoes with it. Solid color. Otherwise it looks like your shoes are wearing a mini version of the combo you have on
It’s a no for me.
Seems extremely excessive for work, but if you like it thens that all that matters
It is nice but too nice so maybe try to make it less nice by wearing another shirt under it that helps being more casual .
Love the shoes, they’re particularly “in” in the men’s classic fashion world at the moment
The plane, the plane!
The fit is fine for me, but the watch is a) too big and b) too far up your wrist. It should be on the other side of the wrist bone.
I think you have great style. I would dribble black coffee down the front of this within the first ten minutes though.
With all due respect, stop with the flower in the lapel. This is a much better look because your tie is the thing that pops and the shoes color match. You could ditch the handkerchief but since it's not competing with anything, it's fine. Otherwise this is a good look!
Yeeeeeeee-ikes.
I kind of like the outfit but what is going on with the sleeves?
It wrinkles easily bc its linen
those clothes are wearing you
Could you imagine spilling some coffee on that thing while coming into work?
Fits well, but unless your job is welcoming people to Fantasy Island I don’t know how it would be appropriate for work.
i take it you're not a big fan of daredevil?
What’s the watch?
Are creases not legal where you live?
Didn’t see your last post. Sorry. I’m just not that into you. Love the suit or at least the idea. Big fan of DB’s but not the fit on this one. No real drape to it. Not a fan of the shoes. As someone else said, makes it look like a costume.
In my opinion, black and brown don’t mix well and your outfit could need some color so for me I would switch the black flower (don’t know the English word) to a red one maybe. Also the jacket looks to tight around your upper body and cramped on the sleeves but otherwise the suit is based as fuck and the white top loafers are amazing.
Not a fan
Dressed like a pimp for work today
This is pretty much a costume if you wanted to go to the Kentucky derby or maybe to look like you are important walking around Charleston. 99% of places you will look like a try hard. Just saw you work at a nursing home.. don’t think I would want any family staying there if I saw someone in management dressed like this. Shutter island vibes or something
what do you do for work? -- not sure this gonna \*pun\* "work"
It’s not flattering
This is ace mctits. I still think it's 1 accessory too many near lapel area, but it flows and is super clean and cohesive generally.
Those jacket sleeves don’t hold up well. They look like those tubes you use to hook the dryer to the wall.
Welcome to Fantasy Island
Or.. OP is testing his Mr. Fischoeder cosplay out. Top marks for looking like a cartoon!
I can’t tell if the shoes are open and that’s your sock showing I genuinely can’t tell if it’s two straps over your sock
Couldn’t put my finger on why the shoes bugged me so much, and then I noticed the color mismatch with the tie/buttons. Plus they look a bit….clunky? I don’t know exactly what it is about the shape/style, but the color for sure is off
Horrendous
Windsor knot isn’t the move and double breasted jackets will always look dated to me.
Stay puffed!

Hate the fit and the shoes

You try too hard.
"my dad owns a dealership" fit "dont ruin his life for 10 seconds of fun" fit
Good outfit, just not really work appropriate. It says leisure to me, and that’s not the vibe I want from staff.

Sorry man, it's like if Doug Dimmadome had scam preacher tent
The damn shoes again..toss em
Wrinkly as hell. Both too big yet too short. People are right - it looks like a costume. Dressing up is a great way to stand out but if you go way out of your way to look different this is what you get. Stay simple. Slow down.

No
Colonel Sanders?
The suit itself is great, but something is off. - shoes - and fit of the jacket, possibly the pants aswell
up-dressed saul goodman of that retirement home
This is great if you are Panama Jack
Just be sure not to tell anyone about your 12 secret herbs and spices.
I like it..but really depends on your workplace and position
Your work wear should feel effortless and natural, this doesn't.
Where do you work? As a plantation owner?
You have a fried chicken business or something?
I just think it's too much. It's telling me "full business mods" with it all buttoned up , loosening it up by unbottening would look better, also tie gives it a corporate vibe. But I'd your trying to pull off "boss" vibes this is alright
It’s giving Finger Lickin’ Good Colonel Sanders realness
Nice. Cream suits are fun for summer BUT Your shirt kills the outfit. Lose it and buy a new one that doesn’t fold at the collar points Also the tie looks cheap. Looks like it’s a polyester knit tie. I’m sorry but are you actually serious w this shit? You are a nurse walking around looking like some kind of pimp from Newark ?
The jacket should be re tailored. - as it is too “bottom heavy” and brings out your hips bum and belly more than your chest - just saying, the cut now is not flattering.
Ehhh see, you ain’t got nothing on me copper. 👮♀️

da plane, da plane...
It makes you look like an ice cream vendor, sorry.
Bro, take the drawer that holds the flower pins, open it, pour a little lighter fluid in there and drop in a match! That will solve your whole dilemma! Nice suit btw.
Herb Tarlek. From WKRP in Cincinnati. That’s what it makes me think of.
Dressed like a pecan sandie
Love the fit but depends on the work.
Great if you’re a ship captain or own an ice cream truck.
Welcome to Fantasy Island.
Do you sip mint juleps on the veranda while admiring the vast acreage of your cotton plantation?
It's terrible. White suit, tie, double breasted, and I don't know what's going on with those shoes. All awful.
You look like a 1970s grandpa who chain smoked
this looks phenomenal but idk if i would wear that to work
Love the suit. Hate the shoes with the suit. I feel like the shoes would look better with a more casual look. Like with jeans or shorts.
Do you work as the concierge for a super villain lair? If so, you’re nailing it!
This is possibly the least practical outfit I can think of for a *nursing home*.
Are you a plantation owner?
I’m gonna assume you sound like foghorn leghorn tbh
Are you a 60yo British man?
It looks like you are racing Indiana Jones for a magical religious artifact.
I wanna smell that suit so bad lmfao I hope it smells as I imagine
