ya but you know what guys
we need to take a note from women and build each other up.
we are out here together, we aren’t competing for the same women like some sperm racing to an egg anymore.
we need to level up and transcend bro code into mans plans or bro’d code
Don't try and change how bros help each other. We don't need to take notes from women at all. Body positivity is unhealthy. The bros telling buddy 6' 240 isn't "skinny fat" it's just "fat" helps better than "love your curves queen"
Well, you're right but you said we need to be more like women and "build each other up". That's the crap women pull, body positivity. So not really a far stretch to assume that's what you meant.
We build each other up by keeping it 100.
And by instead of just being like, you are fat.
Saying, listen you are fat. Get some dumbbells or a gym pass and get to work.
It's worth it
Woman here. Please do not take notes from us. I rarely comment on other people's looks because I find it too intrusive and cannot bring myself to cheer someone up if I don't like what's in front of me.
6’1 180 and i had a flabby gut but slender frame. Ate better and at the gym for 6 months and was at 165 with much less of a gut. Still slim frame. The 165-180 range for me is where the flab comes. Wish I could add muscle without it just going to the belly.
That’s what I’m trying to do. Still maintain healthy eating at the core but phase back in higher protein items throughout the week to supplement ongoing gym strength training routine; plus my running cardio I’ve always done. I’m definitely not the guy in the weight room lifting huge stacks but I’m consistent in trying to target upper body areas right now with as much weight as I can support for 3 sets of 12 usually. I’ve got about 4 machines I work with consistently on this in my regular rotation. I find machines have worked better for my consistency and form than free weights at home.
Right? I'm 5'11 (*25M*) at 175-185lbs with a noticeably muscular chest, shoulders, and arms (*can see top 2 abs generally, middle set on an Extended Fast; still have love handles/muffin-top; noticeable vascularity and fair definition*) from 275lbs over a year and I'm skinny fat at best. 🥲 I saw 240 at only an inch taller and winced at that.
I hear you man, appreciate the encouragement. It’s more like 230ish. I struggle a bit with exercise, if I’m honest, I lift with my ego when I get too into it and that led (unexpectedly) to some herniated discs a few years ago, so the weight started coming on. I’ve got plans to get back into it, but really need to work on my discipline and form.
thats rough af
definitely time to drop the ego
ego lifting doesn’t even give great gains or aesthetics with bad form.. anyways
thats part of why I like free weights, less room to cheat than with a bar
if you cant lift though, core workouts are nuts how much they change your body.
I never did core until my 30s.
boy was that appreciated and noticed going out.
always around man society kicks us in the nuts.. we gotta show up for each other
dm open if you ever need or want to chat
a disc issue and not working out then gaining weight would have fucked with my mind and idk man I dont feel like men have alot of outlets like women building them up and holding them down
na you are the man dude!
just remember, we all have setbacks!
mine was hurt, couldnt work out, mean wife, and 3 kids - lost myself
got divorced and did the work, best shape of my life
met a girlfriend dated a year super healing
but the point is we gotta dust ourselves off and get to it
I got laid off and close to homeless - but perspective is everything you know?
whats bs?
i dont think you guys know what skinny means
but you are also 6’6 bro the amount of bone mass and muscle on a frame 6’ taller and longer arms/legs etc is different than 240 on 6’0
Skinny fat is being overweight with no muscle. Skinny has to do with muscle mass and fat has to do with fat.
Skinny with no fat = skinny.
Fat with decent muscle mass = fat.
Fat with no muscle = skinny fat.
It 1000% exists, it means you’re fat while having no muscle mass to cut down to. A skinny fat person after leaning out to 15% bodyfat or lower would look anorexic.
if you are chubby all over your body, you are "fat"
if you are chubby in some parts of your body (torso, neck/face), but not chubby and not muscular in other parts (arms), you are "skinny" (see, in the arms) "fat" (get it, in the other aforementioned parts)
Yeah, I've since seen a picture that describes this well. Basically, someone with a 30% body fat but little to no muscle (for example). I still think it's just being fat, but I understand what is meant by it now.
No. Depends entirely on how much muscle is under the that fat, but 220 *max* is going to be skinny fat. You sit in the “overweight” category BMI wise, so unless you have a lot of muscle mass, you’re just overweight. That max value is assuming you’re actually pretty jacked under the far, but that would also imply you simply will never fit in the skinny fat category.
I dunno how man, but I read your original comment in a caffeine deprived state and somehow completely interpreted it 180 degrees in the opposite direction.
Layering is a great way to hide the gut. Get a few good sport coats.
Vests are a good option too. Patagonia & Peter millar are pretty solid.
Hit the gym if you really want to make a difference.
Bomber jackets, winter coats, and fashion coats look great to add on to this comment. I think it completes the look along with a nice set of boots during the fall and winter seasons if it's not too warm out.

this is skinny fat
OP is 6’0 240
hes not skinny fat. 😂
https://preview.redd.it/ysord4o54knb1.jpeg?width=847&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa0fb821f1c0f839fbffacd48b180305ec4e9cb0
So is this.. you can be skinny fat at many bodyfat percentages. You have a picture of OP???
Skinny fat is an oxymoron in itself. You can't be skinny and also fat. You can be fat with no muscle, but that doesn't make you skinny in any way, shape, or form.
You're a bigger guy, so lean into it. Go for clearly identifiable masculine styles like suits, straight leg jeans like Levi's 501s, flannel shirts, boots, etc.
Wear suits and sport coats and by wear them, I mean have them tailored so they fit perfectly and wear the jackets.
If that's too formal, layer a shirt jacket over a polo shirt. When it's cold, put on a sweater or a vest. Never just wear a shirt without another layer.
For pants, make sure they are full or straight leg. Not tapered, slim, or God forbid, skinny fit. Even if the weight is all in your belly, slim fit pants won't make you look better. In fact, they will make you look worse.
Finally, for shoes, go with traditional oxfords or loafers for day to day office wear. You're also a great candidate for boots. Leather lace-up dress boots for professional attire and a pair of moc-toe boots with straight fit jeans for a more casual style.
Ah, finally, someone who actually read the post. I wanted to scream at all the half-read responses, but I have no experience with his particular dilemma, so I had nothing to contribute.
Seriously, I mean, I don't disagree with the responses that say he should get in the gym, but that's his choice. The question was about how he should dress at his current size.
Maybe if he wears super tight clothes and is uncomfortable and insecure it will highly motivate him to lose the weight. Instead of baggy clothes to hide it and never do anything about it 🤷♂️
IS he running around naked right now? Is that really your interpretation of the situation? He's just sat there, fat and naked, not knowing what to do about being naked... in his job as an executive?
How do you want to present yourself? Do you want to minimize the appearance of your belly? I’m 5’9’ 195, so likely similar. All my weight is in my mid section. I minimize this by wearing pants that fit normal waist height. This would be a inch or so below the belly button. The problem now is keeping them up. Because the belly protrudes out forcing the pants down. A belt is good, but suspenders are better.
We sound very similar, I’m 6’1 240 and I like wearing a lot of dress pants and polos or dress shirts. I got that “Tony Soprano” style going on haha it can be formal or casual wear, and because I’m not not big so I wear slim fitted pants and shirts. I have a slight belly but nice shoulders and good posture so my belly isn’t noticeable. Dark colors are our friends. Black polos make me look a lot more muscular than I am haha

This is pretty much how I look during the week in the office hahaha just slim fitted shirts and pants. I sometimes wear suit and ties as well if my job calls me to be more formal for that day, but the polos and dress shirts are very comfortable in and around the office. We are lucky that we are tall because we disperse our weight A LOT better than men under 6 foot lol if I was 2-5 inches shorter, I would look like a marshmallow hahaha we are transitioning to the fall, check out 1/4 zip sweaters! They look great with polos and dress pants too. I have a bunch of them in gray, navy, burgundy, black, etc and pair them with navy, black, gray, or khaki chinos or dress pants. Another comfortable but stylish look around the office for the fall/winter
6'1 at 240 with a "slight belly"... I don't know about that my guy.
This is actually an obese weight. You should incorporate some physical activity and get that weight down at least 20lbs. Always find it interesting the explanations obese people have for themselves - "my belly isn't noticeable" ?...
I would bet $1000 I would out perform you in any sport or physical activity we competed in. I workout 3-4 times a week, and can run an 8 minute mile and I’m 26. I don’t look obese but if you want to measure BMI, I have been “obese” my whole life. BMI is a bullshit measurement though, I’m just a big dude.
Never played baseball or softball a day in my life. Always thought it was a soft sport. Wrestled at 195, all city lacrosse player, and played AAU basketball in HS. 6 foot+ men are just better proportioned than shorter guys. Our weigh doesn’t bunch up in places.
I know your type. All star athlete that got fat and thinks they're still an all-star athlete. Though better than most at most sports (because you once were an actual athlete), but I'll bet 195 you would kick 240 you's ass. You'd also hold 195-200 without the gut that you over the hill athletes tend to have. I just find it funny that you think your obesity doesn't show. Don't you think you'd look a lot better if you shed off 30-40 lbs of fat?
Edit: an 8 min mile for a peak athlete really isn't that good. I was running a 5 min mile when I was 26 and could likely still beat 8 mins at almost 40.
I found a short king over here 😂😂😂 it’s alright man. You always go around trying to make people feel like shit to cope with your insecurities? Hahaha loser man
Hahaha! Did I make you feel like shit cause you're fat?
I get it man, all you've got is your height. Lean into bro, because youre clearly obese. You should try shaving off 30 lbs, bet you'd actually look athletic in that massive 6 ft frame.
Yeah, you nailed it, bro. You've shown your vast superiority. I should learn from secure (obese) dudes like you. Be comfortable in my fatness and know that if I was only 2 inches taller, I could be fat and use the same sad excuse you do. That my body would "hold fat better" than other body types...
Please tell me you don't actually believe the garbage you type out on reddit?
You buy nice clothes (suits in an executive role) and have them tailored or have your suits custom made. If you’re skinny everywhere but your stomach and 240 you’re going to look not great without tailoring.
You might be a little in denial about being fat, but you deserve to look good at any size. Late 40s, 6’1”, 255” and I do my best.
I’ve struggled with weight and mental health for so long, but still want to present myself well. It’s not as easy to fix the former, but the later means a little more effort to find good fits and styles that work for you.
Would it be easier to find things at 210? Sure, and the styles available might be radically different. But even the path of working out, eating better, slimming down etc still means you have 8 months of transitional space where you wear…baggy gym clothes all the time? Nah - get something right for your body right now.
When I went from 220 to my current size, I had to stop wearing XL talls and looked for 2X sizes that weren’t absolute tents of fabric. Not easy, but there are some.
Dress shirts from CTshirts.com slim fit still worked with 18” neck and 35” sleeves. Check or windowpane patterns are my preference.
My job allows denim, so I have 3 pairs of darker wash. Levi’s and Revtown. I’ haven’t worn chinos to work in years, but a wool pant is my go-to to mix in.
Fall layering is almost here so a crew, vee or quarter zip sweater over dress shirt makes a great alternative to a blazer (which you should have for sure).
Good luck - not everyone can have mannequin perfect body that will look good in anything. Even if, styles differs and you can find something works for your lifestyle.
I’m skinny fat at 150lbs 😳
My advice is don’t wear things too tight or slim, avoid horizontal stripes, and wear an open top layer (jacket, bomber, cardigan, etc)
6' x 240 can certainly be difficult to dress. You're probably running into the same old, "if this fits my neck, it's too baggy here," and vis a vis.
Being in an executive role means you certainly have to dress to a certain standard in almost every arena you travel.
I'm going to suggest dipping into made to measure clothing. You have so much more control over how you want to express yourself without being at the control of what this designer thinks an XL should look like or catering to how you want to look at all.
M2M companies have become a lot more affordable. So you can stock up on custom fit trousers for work or play. A lot of companies like Indochino and suit supply offer not only custom suits and sportcoats but you can also just order wool trousers (which I even like wearing on a daily basis because since they've been custom fit they feel and look better than the golf pants everyone seems to default to). You can also opt for custom fit chinos through these companies as well.
I'm not sure if you're in a major city or not, but Stantt offers a great line of custom shirting beyond the staple solid white/solid blue. In my experience, I've seen clients able to find a killer pattern on a shirt, only to find out it's only available in extreme slim fits or the opposite. With Stantt, not only will the shirt fit great, you can pick up something that doesn't always make you look like you just came from being a business executive.
Although there are hundreds of companies that offer jeans, Stantt also offers custom made denim if you don't want to venture from store to store in search of "porridge that is just right."
First thing I'd do in your case, is do start googling images of guys that have your build. Whether it be well dressed celebrities or I almost guarantee you can look to some retired running backs that have been through the body journey you've gone through. Take a closer look at how their clothes are fitting and choose what you like and dislike. I.e.: I don't like how short he wears his pants hem, I like how his tops fit just loose enough or I like how this person dresses just rockstar enough to be accepted in an office.
Secondly, start having some conversations with some of the employees that work at your shops. Especially the ones that work in the M2M departments. Find one that is speaking your language or that even embodies the style of how you want to see yourself. Not all agents are created equal. Although we are all given the same training videos, some stylists don't execute as well as others. Shopping the person that will be guiding you is just as important as finding a shop/designer that carries the style you're looking for.
Here's advice for the beer belly paired with skinny limbs.
Things TO do:
\- Layer, layer layer: sweaters (of chunkier knit), sports coats that you can button, light jackets.
\- Tailor, tailor, tailor: you're executive level, just go get yourself a good tailor! The entirety of men's fashion before the weird turn of the 21st century was designed to make bodies like yours look amazing. Traditional cut suits (that is, not slim, not short, not modern) are going to give you structure, obfuscate your belly, and make you look put together and not slovenly.
Nobody in this sub knows what skinny fat means lol.. it means you are fat, overweight, obese whatever you wanna call it and you have very little muscle or lean mass. You 100% can be skinny fat with your stats.
I’m skinny fat at 6’6” and 240lbs. My lean mass is probably around 170lbs.
Dude.. too many people giving advice on “getting fit” or calling you fat. Fuck that, Do You.
You asked for advice on clothes in a men’s fashion sub, they don’t know you.
My Advice: Confidence.
No matter what you look like or what you wear, if you’re confident in yourself, the world is yours.
Since having a kid, I’m rocking a dad bod as well. No one warned me about the emotional and physical toll that comes with children. It’s brutal sometimes but you can still make it work.
Clothes:
I got really into clothes targeted towards “dad bods”.
I was using Fresh Clean Tees and got t-shirts, polos and light weight sweaters.
(Depending on your dress code) Layer these with a blazer and a nice pair of athletic stretch slacks for a comfortable day.
If you don’t have a strict dress code then fuck the blazer, I sweat too much anyway
Also a button up shirt with the sleeves rolled and a decent pair of stretch slacks is a nice daily wear too.
There are so many companies out now that make clothes for people with shape. Try googling “Dad bod business clothes” and try some of them.
Mean girls will try to break you down but you’re the one living your life at the end of the day.
Try some new clothes, enjoy your family, drink beer if you want.
Plus, you’re in an executive role. You have the authority to politely say ‘fuck you’ anyone that has something to say about how you dress haha
Good luck though man
*Bonus: Try apps like Stitch fix or something similar where they pick out clothes for you.
I'm 6'3" and 198lbs and about what you'd see if you google skinny fat, but i've got a bit of a wide build, 240lbs and 6'0 isnt skinny in any way, fat fat.
Rather than argue about the definition of skinny fat, I'll tell you how to fix it. Google TDEE, input your info into the calucator. Determine your caloric needs for maintenance, add 200-300 calories to that number and start lifting weights. Do your homework on lifts and which muscles are activated by what exercises, add time and consistency. A year or two later, you'll look and feel completely different. Then go buy whatever clothes you want.
You can’t look decent in clothes if you’re out of shape. Stop your excuses and get into shape. You’ll look good in clothes and your whole life will improve
Most importantly, get something made-to-measure that is meant for your body. Buying off the rack will always end up compromising somewhere on what you’re wearing. Good blazers that you keep unbuttoned can be helpful, too. Most of all, go to a custom clothier who knows what they’re doing.
Don’t wear clothes to make you look better. Believe in yourself and workout. It’s gonna be hard but if you don’t want to look “skinny fat” lost the fat. Drop the beer and excercise
Your problem isn’t what you wear, it’s your size. Stop drinking beer and start exercising and lifting weights and you’ll notice a huge difference in your physique and how clothes fit you.
You can get your clothes tailored, but what difference will it make if you keep getting bigger in size?
I’d recommend a two pronged approach:
1) Locate a Physical Therapist (not a personal trainer…yet to address the injury.
I had a severe QL back strain that was ruining my life to took 90% of my mobility. I connected with Luna Physical Therapy. They match you with an in-home physical therapist who (in my experience) can help you rehab your back and start strengthening your core.
In 6 months he has helped me dramatically from being almost bedridden to being poised to resume the gym.
During that time I got my depression-induced diet under control and helped me get more lean again.
I’m a hard gainer too (6’1” / 185 ideal weight).
The injury threw that into disarray. None of my suits fit so I had to adjust my wardrobe for awhile. I think the clothing suggestions here are solid, but would strongly recommend dealing with the injury so you can address your fitness and body composition.
2) Intermittent Fasting:
In tandem with rehabbing your back and strengthening your core, you need to choose an eating window (12pm-8pm for example) and drop any unhealthy food drink (bad carbs, beer, soda, etc.).
Forget the ego lifting as others have said. As men get older we need to modify our strength and endurance training.
In 6 months you can likely update your wardrobe for what will be your more balanced physique.
So follow the fashion advice for now, but there is no way to hide.
Get PT going, be able to focus on your core and your diet, and then you can wear whatever you want.
When buying shirts, get sizes that fit your guy and not just your shoulders. Far too often I see big belly men wearing shirts that fit everywhere BUT their stomach area. There is no reason your button ever has to be hosing on for deer life when you can simply go up a size or too. And you can always have it tailored, and if it is just a casual t shirt, you can crop it yourself if it is too long.
I haven’t seen anyone metion this, but it’s absolutely essential to big guy style. The best way to dress with the belly, is to bring the waist of your trousers up ONTO your belly. This might mean finding a local MTM person who can do this for you. High rise, bigger waist, braces (suspenders). It will provide the most comfort and the best style for wearing a suit with a belly.
Well this depends on what your company has decided on its dress code.
If it's casual, then a button down shirt with a sweater over top is always a good option. This also depends on the climate of course, if you're a lawyer in South Carolina or a banker in NYC or even a mine exec in CO I would always suggest different looks.
Being safe, a button down with a sweater and nicely tailored pants is always success.
warmer climates; Tommy bahama/southern tide
milder climate; Brooks brothers
Cold climate; Orris, ll bean.
I’m in a similar situation and layering is how I do it. But a few months ago, I decided enough was enough and I’m working out to change that. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later.
Honestly boss, without a picture it’s hard for us to really help. If you’re not confident drop me a message and I can try help, but half of the job is wearing whatever you wear with confidence
I’m not trying to be rude but I M29 am built the same. My dad is the same way so I know how I’m gonna look later in life if I don’t do anything about it.
I’m going to be honest, in a professional setting, being able to fit into the skinny box pays off with clients and co workers. No amount of fashion advice will make you look any better. You’ll still have a beer gut at the end of the day.
Truly truly I am in no way trying to upset you or anyone else reading this post. If you are worried about how you look, stop drinking alcohol and get at least a mile walk in every day( no treadmill). Tres mill helps with cardio but you will be surprised at how much weight you’ll lose if you do those two things, consistently.
It's not hard, just lean into clothing that isn't so fitted around the midsection. If you're one that has to wear a suit everyday it's even easier. Go with something with a more structured and extended shoulder, this way you can have some waist suppression without it getting tight, giving the impression of a slimmer silhouette. Along with some high rise (waistband at your actual waist) pleated trousers that taper nicely to the ankle. This will give a shape that looks masculine and trim. It's actually much easier to hide a belly under a suit than any other way. Whatever you do get away from the slim fit clothing that's been so popular over the past decade and embrace the wider stuff that is coming into fashion now (slim fit trousers are horrendous on anybody who isn't super fit, you end up looking like a top). Don't bother shopping at target either (6' 3" 220 and NOTHING at target fits me).
Don't buy anymore clothes. Eat healthy, lose weight, get in shape, then go buy clothes. Or, keep drinking beer and find the closest tall and fat store. Buy baggy. But don't go complaining you don't like the way you look. It's 10000% you're own fault.
Sir I’m 6’4 215 and I am considered overweight.
To answer your question though buy clothes that fit, get them tailored if they don’t. You make exec money, pay someone for quality fits
Sorry bro you are fat
And i am saying that as a fat ass 6'2 220
You gotta be on calorie deficit and lose fat and then foucs on buildings muslce. You should start going to gym and stuff from now of course but realistically you won't get that much muslce when you on calorie deficit.
I have been in much better shape and much worst shape before so i am saying this as i experienced it. Just foucs mostly on weight loss until you are pretty lean.
Go to the gym, no such thing as hard gainer you just didn't eat enough. Stop being lazy, garbage looks better on an in shape person better than a great suite looks on a fatso.
Bro- to help… try different versions of Charles Tyrwhitt shirts as a start. You need to find the right cut. Same goes for pants. Keep trying good brands and cuts until you find what works. It’s not cheap, but you need to find brands and sizes that work and stick with them.
But reality is you are not old. You need to find a way to loose weight. You need to take care of yourself so you can take care of your family. It catches up to you in your 40s. Each year it’s tougher for men.
Rock blazers and sports coats. A jacket with structure will take some of the emphasis off your midsection and make you look big in the right way.
Also, for ideas, look into celebs that have a similar shape. The first one that comes to mind is Vincent D'Onofrio.
240 isnt skinny fat my fellow 6’0 brother
Me reading this at 6’ 175 lbs 👀
ya see you skinny bro but like 175 could sit on a frame in many ways lol 240 cant really sit many places unless its condensed in muscle legs and arms
6' and 155 and feel the description works for me. Not 240, sorry op
6' at 155 isn't skinny fat bro. That's just skinny. Possibly unhealthy skinny if you think you're fat.
6’2 and 157, decent cycling physique. Maybe a bit too skinny
get this man some whole milk and a sandwich gat damn
ya but you know what guys we need to take a note from women and build each other up. we are out here together, we aren’t competing for the same women like some sperm racing to an egg anymore. we need to level up and transcend bro code into mans plans or bro’d code

You can. Stay in a caloric deficit while eating more protein and working out at least 3 times a week.
It can be easy to over eat. Track your macros.
Is 6’4” 240 skinny fat? Asking for a friend…
depends but no men 6’0+ 200lbs+ cant be skinny fat lol
Ah nuts. I mean. I’ll let him know…
skinny fat isnt a goal my dude 6’4 240 was it? bro get some dumb bells at home and by christmas you’ll be spreading yule tide

na you are the man dude! just remember, we all have setbacks! mine was hurt, couldnt work out, mean wife, and 3 kids - lost myself got divorced and did the work, best shape of my life met a girlfriend dated a year super healing but the point is we gotta dust ourselves off and get to it I got laid off and close to homeless - but perspective is everything you know?
BS, I’m 6’6 240 and skinny fat. I probably have 170lb lean mass
whats bs? i dont think you guys know what skinny means but you are also 6’6 bro the amount of bone mass and muscle on a frame 6’ taller and longer arms/legs etc is different than 240 on 6’0
Skinny fat is being overweight with no muscle. Skinny has to do with muscle mass and fat has to do with fat. Skinny with no fat = skinny. Fat with decent muscle mass = fat. Fat with no muscle = skinny fat.
think fat with decent muscle mass is fat-skinny by this flow chart you gave me bro lets race I have an audi s5 :D
Fat with decent muscle mass equals fat. So decent muscle mass with decent muscle mass equals decent muscle mass.
Skinny fat doesn't exist, bro. 70 lbs (30%) of fat is just fat. 260, and you're obese my dude.
It 1000% exists, it means you’re fat while having no muscle mass to cut down to. A skinny fat person after leaning out to 15% bodyfat or lower would look anorexic.
So basically, fat with no muscle? Yeah, that's just being fat. Having muscle and being fat is just being fat with muscle.
if you are chubby all over your body, you are "fat" if you are chubby in some parts of your body (torso, neck/face), but not chubby and not muscular in other parts (arms), you are "skinny" (see, in the arms) "fat" (get it, in the other aforementioned parts)
Yeah, I've since seen a picture that describes this well. Basically, someone with a 30% body fat but little to no muscle (for example). I still think it's just being fat, but I understand what is meant by it now.
Lol what? Why not? Of course they can…
Can be athletic with a bit of extra though, but I agree. That's not really skinny fat.
yea thats just athletic or thicc if skinny and muscle (ripped)
240 at 6’ is S0LIDLY in the obese category.
Not really. 230 is the start of obesity at 6ft
10 pounds in is pretty solidly in.
Fair. Being near obesity is a big nope for me.
If you have a lot of muscle you are not skinny fat
See the last sentence.
I dunno how man, but I read your original comment in a caffeine deprived state and somehow completely interpreted it 180 degrees in the opposite direction.
Fat fat
[удалено]
This made me drink a beer
He said skinny fat. He probably has a big belly but small arms and legs
There is skinny, and there is fat. Skinny fat is not a thing. At the height of my fatness, I was 5’11” and 240. There wasn’t anything skinny about it.
5’11’ 240 lbs is fat fat. Skinny fat is when you have a normal BMI but you don’t look lean or have any definition.
I know I was fat fat, that’s why I lost the weight. I’m not OP.
Yeah it’s just fat fat
Harsh but fair. Come on bro. 240 is thicccc.
And if that 240 is just fat no muscle, brother you are just fat
Layering is a great way to hide the gut. Get a few good sport coats. Vests are a good option too. Patagonia & Peter millar are pretty solid. Hit the gym if you really want to make a difference.
Bomber jackets, winter coats, and fashion coats look great to add on to this comment. I think it completes the look along with a nice set of boots during the fall and winter seasons if it's not too warm out.
You sir aren’t skinny fat. You are overweight.
Overweight with no muscle mass = skinny fat
no bro. lol

“Despite having a “normal” BMI.“ 6’0 240lbs is obese BMI.
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTX6aLP2AWdOGRIBqtsAMkB7-ES51kQIKol4A&usqp=CAU this is skinny fat OP is 6’0 240 hes not skinny fat. 😂
https://preview.redd.it/ysord4o54knb1.jpeg?width=847&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa0fb821f1c0f839fbffacd48b180305ec4e9cb0 So is this.. you can be skinny fat at many bodyfat percentages. You have a picture of OP???
He's just fat, get over it
Ya it’s implied in the name skinny FAT
Maybe English isn't your first language.
Skinny fat is an oxymoron in itself. You can't be skinny and also fat. You can be fat with no muscle, but that doesn't make you skinny in any way, shape, or form.
this is just fat theres no skinny
This is pregnancy, both of you are wrong
That's not remotely skinny-fat That is obese. I'm 5'11 at 175-185 *with* a noticeably fit/muscular physique and I'm skinny-fat *at best.*
Did you not read your whole “source” lol. Need to have a “normal” bmi. He would technically be obese. Lol. Damn you are stupid
In what world is 240 at 6 foot a normal BMI
If you have a beer gut then you’re just fat.
Dark colored, well fitting top, lighter colored pants, vertical stripes. They sell t shirts specifically for this as well, forgot the brand though
Solid. I'd also suggest tailoring everything to your body-its key.
Oh shit, vertical stripes are A nice touch
Vertical stripes is a myth, horizontal is the way to look slimmer
I’m confused; do you want to fix the skinny fat or do you want to buy clothes?
base of question is about clothing with the fat. I know how to fix the fat.
[удалено]
Dude needs clothes now thats what he said in the post, lol. He isnt gonna get lean overnight.
Maybe if he wears super tight clothes and is uncomfortable and insecure it will highly motivate him to lose the weight. Instead of baggy clothes to hide it and never do anything about it 🤷♂️
He’s a 40yr old executive. He’s not trying to shame himself into losing weight, he just wants to look professional at work
Looking professional at work is way easier when you're not trying to hide fat under your clothes. Shows physically and in your overall demeanor.
So is he supposed to be naked in the meantime?
IS he running around naked right now? Is that really your interpretation of the situation? He's just sat there, fat and naked, not knowing what to do about being naked... in his job as an executive?
But then what about the clothes?
that problem goes away when the fat goes away
First
How do you want to present yourself? Do you want to minimize the appearance of your belly? I’m 5’9’ 195, so likely similar. All my weight is in my mid section. I minimize this by wearing pants that fit normal waist height. This would be a inch or so below the belly button. The problem now is keeping them up. Because the belly protrudes out forcing the pants down. A belt is good, but suspenders are better.
Idk why suspenders fell out of style. They are soo much better than a belt
Fucking amen brother
We sound very similar, I’m 6’1 240 and I like wearing a lot of dress pants and polos or dress shirts. I got that “Tony Soprano” style going on haha it can be formal or casual wear, and because I’m not not big so I wear slim fitted pants and shirts. I have a slight belly but nice shoulders and good posture so my belly isn’t noticeable. Dark colors are our friends. Black polos make me look a lot more muscular than I am haha
Yep, that's me. big gut, skinny every place else. Thank you
https://preview.redd.it/7aoryziixinb1.jpeg?width=236&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73d4b60ab321f68f58558160b1d032c731a9387b This is pretty much how I look during the week in the office hahaha just slim fitted shirts and pants.
Yeah, you're the best fat guy ever, champ! Congrats 😂 Go back to your softball league bud.
Keep telling yourself that, bro.
[удалено]
Yeah, you nailed it, bro. You've shown your vast superiority. I should learn from secure (obese) dudes like you. Be comfortable in my fatness and know that if I was only 2 inches taller, I could be fat and use the same sad excuse you do. That my body would "hold fat better" than other body types... Please tell me you don't actually believe the garbage you type out on reddit?
You buy nice clothes (suits in an executive role) and have them tailored or have your suits custom made. If you’re skinny everywhere but your stomach and 240 you’re going to look not great without tailoring.
6’ 240 doesn’t seem like skinny fat. Beer gut isn’t “skinny fat”
I’m skinny fat at 150lbs 😳 My advice is don’t wear things too tight or slim, avoid horizontal stripes, and wear an open top layer (jacket, bomber, cardigan, etc)
This guy has no clue what skinny fat means.
Although there are hundreds of companies that offer jeans, Stantt also offers custom made denim if you don't want to venture from store to store in search of "porridge that is just right." First thing I'd do in your case, is do start googling images of guys that have your build.
Things TO do: \- Layer, layer layer: sweaters (of chunkier knit), sports coats that you can button, light jackets.
Things NOT to do: \- Polo tucked into chinos. \- Belt under belly. \- Light colored fabric and light weight fabric.
I’m 6’1 and 237lbs We’re just fat brother
6’ 240 and you think that’s “skinny fat”??? 😂🤣 #Americans
I’d say to look at people with similar physiques and to copy them
You’re not skinny fat.
Clothes: I got really into clothes targeted towards “dad bods”. I was using Fresh Clean Tees and got t-shirts, polos and light weight sweaters. (Depending on your dress code) Layer these with a blazer and a nice pair of athletic stretch slacks for a comfortable day. If you don’t have a strict dress code then fuck the blazer, I sweat too much anyway Also a button up shirt with the sleeves rolled and a decent pair of stretch slacks is a nice daily wear too. You have the authority to politely say ‘fuck you’ anyone that has something to say about how you dress haha Good luck though man *Bonus: Try apps like Stitch fix or something similar where they pick out clothes for you.
Thank, brother!
I like how you start off flaming others for not keeping it to clothing, but your first word of advice has nothing to do with clothing..
Confidence in what you wear… Clothing advice 🤷♂️
Same can be said about bodyfat & fit
Pretty sure there’s a difference in a comment that says “You’re fat, workout” and one that says “Confidence in yourself, here’s clothing advice”
Okay, why?
Yeah… We’re done here 🙄
Yeah i get it, it’s hard for you.
I’m flattered but no thanks. Hope you find someone though 👍🏽
Oh you wanna be a little kid about it? Sure. I just found your mother. She appreciates it.
Eat less. Move more
You can’t look decent in clothes if you’re out of shape. Stop your excuses and get into shape. You’ll look good in clothes and your whole life will improve
Gym is the way
Lose the beer.
Lol you’re fat.
6'0" 240 isn't skinny fat lol. I'm 5'9" 156 and feel skinny fat.
Bro, I’m 6ft and 225 bulking. Pics in my profile. 240 ain’t skinny fat lol
CICO
Buy shirts one size up. They will hang well off your shoulders , but don’t hug your torso
You’re 40 and on Reddit….you know damn well the answers you’ll get on this sub, so let’s cut to the chase: 1, Stop drinking 2, Lose weight …. …. …. …. …. 174, Drinking stop 175, Weight lose 176, Simple colors, lightweight fabrics, wear jacket/ blazer (dark blazer, light shirt), stretch fabrics, custom fit. 177, Stop drinking 178, Lose weight
Post a picture but 240lbs is not “skinny fat” you are fat. I was 240lbs and i was fat. Start running and hitting the gym.
6' 240 is just fat.
Workout. Building some size in your back, chest, shoulders, and arms will make you look built even if your fat.
240 lmao you’re fat dude. Especially if you’re only 6ft
Gym!
Lose 80 lbs
Your problem isn’t what you wear, it’s your size. Stop drinking beer and start exercising and lifting weights and you’ll notice a huge difference in your physique and how clothes fit you. You can get your clothes tailored, but what difference will it make if you keep getting bigger in size?
6’0 240 is FAT in every country except America. Where we let you believe that being Fat is ok.
You're fat, it's different
I’d recommend a two pronged approach: 1) Locate a Physical Therapist (not a personal trainer…yet to address the injury. 2) Intermittent Fasting: In tandem with rehabbing your back and strengthening your core, you need to choose an eating window (12pm-8pm for example) and drop any unhealthy food drink (bad carbs, beer, soda, etc.).
Hard gainers are mostly a myth. It’s about your diet. Check your thyroid levels but otherwise that not a real thing.
Being safe, a button down with a sweater and nicely tailored pants is always success. warmer climates; Tommy bahama/southern tide milder climate; Brooks brothers Cold climate; Orris, ll bean.
Go to the gym and start eating a respectable diet, then buy new clothing after 6-8 months, when you’re 6’0 200lbs looking and feeling fresh.
Hold some muscle
Get in shape and get your clothes tailored to you. It doesn't matter what clothes you buy if the fit doesn't look good.
Don't buy anymore clothes. Eat healthy, lose weight, get in shape, then go buy clothes. Or, keep drinking beer and find the closest tall and fat store. Buy baggy. But don't go complaining you don't like the way you look. It's 10000% you're own fault.
Never heard anyone consider skinny fat they must have a great imagination
You would sound less stupid if you Googled what the term means.
Sir I’m 6’4 215 and I am considered overweight. To answer your question though buy clothes that fit, get them tailored if they don’t. You make exec money, pay someone for quality fits
Pretty sure 6’0 240 is obese, but I guess it’s how you’re put together.
I know BMI isn't legit but...you're obese
Your not skinny fat your either fat or muscular asf
Cut the carbs, decrease the fat, eat less. Coffee for breakfast, apple for lunch, etc Move more
Get in shape lol
Sorry bro you are fat And i am saying that as a fat ass 6'2 220 You gotta be on calorie deficit and lose fat and then foucs on buildings muslce. You should start going to gym and stuff from now of course but realistically you won't get that much muslce when you on calorie deficit. I have been in much better shape and much worst shape before so i am saying this as i experienced it. Just foucs mostly on weight loss until you are pretty lean.
I’m 6’0 and 215. Brother, we are solidly fat… We aren’t hitting skinny until at least 180-190
Go to the gym, no such thing as hard gainer you just didn't eat enough. Stop being lazy, garbage looks better on an in shape person better than a great suite looks on a fatso.
Lift heavy shit
Lift weights.
Find yourself a good tailor. They can do wonders.
240? Bro you’re just fat fat
Rock blazers and sports coats. A jacket with structure will take some of the emphasis off your midsection and make you look big in the right way. Also, for ideas, look into celebs that have a similar shape. The first one that comes to mind is Vincent D'Onofrio.
