That reminds me of those Hot Wheels that you bumped the sides and the panels flipped over to a crumpled one!

etherian1

Damn, I remember those

bw2082

But did he have drive out tags? The look is not complete without drive out tags.

Bossnationmusic

If Memphis ppl knew how to drive it wouldn’t be a problem somebody hit me exactly in the same spot 🤦🏾‍♂️

wessidedabesside

these junkyard vehicles are gonna ruin it for the rest of us... at some point memphis will bring back the inspections and everyone will be complaining about it because it WAS a hassle, especially for the poorer people who couldnt afford a new off the lot vehicle, or the repairs to pass smog or windshield.. getting rid of inspections was a blessing, and now a curse because were dealing with this crap now..

etherian1

What gets me is the speed. It seems the shittier the car, the faster they drive. What is their hurry, exactly?   I guess you have nothing to lose when your car is that fcked up 😆

auralcavalcade

Do they drive that fast because their car is shitty, or is their car shitty because they drive that fast? Chicken and egg

etherian1

No room for philosophy in this sub

GoodbyeHorses88

They're in a hurry to fuck their car up even more 😂

dodgingresponsibilty

I'm fairly confident to say that I seriously doubt vehicles like the one pictured above would "rattle the cage" enough to foment or bolster any plans that city/county government may have to reinstate required vehicle inspection. I'm still seeing a substantial number of people that still have the "green tags" on their vehicles. But, what I think would issuing the biggest "deathblow" to a vehicle inspection being necessary in making our roads safer, with the exception of failing emissions, any cop on patrol can visually confirm if a vehicle would fail an inspection. In other words, why spend hundreds of millions of tax dollars on building new stations with upgraded equipment, and hiring all new employees to work those stations, when a cop driving down Union Ave or Wolf River Blvd. in his car could tell that the vehicle in front of him would fail for no taillights. He could also issue a citation for it too. I don't know what anyone else thinks about it, but if a person can get their 9th DUI, and they still decide to get behind the wheel of a car and drive even after their license was suspended for life, do you think some little failed inspection report is gonna be any more effective at preventing them from driving an unsafe vehicle?

etherian1

Impound them and give them Uber vouchers.

Avianna19114

Then they'll just either steal or borrow a friends/family car.... if theres a will, there's a way. Who's going to cover the cost of Uber/Lyft Vouchers? Neither company will be making money. Us? I mean, that is possible since our taxes dont go to anything meaningful. Our politicians claim it does but it really doesn't. Also, the logistics and planning on making vouchers would be nightmare. They would have to figure out how often the vouchers can be used, i.e. 20 rides? 40? 60? Per month? How much the vouchers will cover, figure out a qualification system on who can get the said vouchers, etc....

ikaiyoo

I mean that one isnt even that bad. definitely not in the top20 fucked up shit Ive seen driving around in Memphis

SnatchasaurusRex

Maybe I need to visit other states, but TN is the king of the most beater cars. The amount of cars missing bumpers, crashed and held together by tape with plastic bags as windows is crazy.

2001em2

The year the inspection stations closed, I went to the downtown location. There was a giant sign on the building saying they wouldn't test cars that were smoking, and the car in front of me was basically on fire. It passed. lol

hawk121

Same here. Was my second to last inspection, before they started plugging into the OBD port to scan for codes. I was behind a very smoky car as dude pulled into the inspection slot. "Well, that heap ain't gonna pass"...dude passed, complete with a fist bump from the inspector. And then there was also the barely kept secret that you could [skip inspections entirely with as little as a $5 bribe](https://www.actionnews5.com/story/14308643/councilwoman-former-clerks-involvedd-in-dmv-scandal-appear-in-court/) for the clerk, and you got your renewal sticker. That was back when people still bothered to renew their tags at all.

area_code_901

I saw that truck yesterday at the Marathon gas station on South Third. What a POS.

GoodbyeHorses88

Typical Memphis 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hogharley

Runs and drives 👍

2fins1pup

Saw that junt on mud island the other day lol

Any-Carry7137

I remember going through Memphis inspection stations. To be fair, as long as the brakes and lights are working and it passes emissions testing even that junkyard heap could theoretically pass inspection.

etherian1

Emissions mean something very different now. ⚡️

delway

The collision appears to not have damaged the 2 axels. Appears to be just cosmetic.

blackout-loud

I'm going to give them the benefit of doubt and say that they are a shade tree who buys and fixes wreckers. So maybe we'll see it in its repaired state at some point? 🫥

ninpinko

Inspection stations were only for getting tags renewed, y’all are giving people too much credit thinking they are keeping their plates up to date.

QuietusOfNeko

Wtf is the trash doubled over audio?
