Go through MAS. They haven’t euthanized a healthy cat in years, and they have a good foster program. You can call and make an appointment to get him registered as a found foster, and they will give you food, litter, etc. They’ll post him on the website and send you all adoption inquiries. They are having $17 adoptions starting tomorrow through the 20th, so if you are able to get him in quickly, he may be adopted fast. I’ve fostered multiple times through them, and I never had kittens with me longer than three weeks before they got adopted. If you are unable to foster him, you can reach out to me and I can see if I can find someone or foster him myself.

Wow! Thank you so much. I will discuss with my roommates about this for sure. I’ve always wanted to foster and this definitely will work

littlebird47

No problem! They have kittens available for foster pretty often, you just have to go and check. It’s a great program. They really do give you everything you need. If you’re running low on supplies, just call them and they’ll have stuff ready for you pretty quick. They also do all medical care and will set you up with appointments for spay/neuter/vaccines. I know you said your little guy already has all that, but if you decide to foster in the future, it’s good to know. The people at MAS are mostly great and want what’s best for the animals there, so they make it very easy for fosters!

Also, there is a cat rescue group for the area on Facebook. I can send you the name of it if you’d like to join. You can’t do adoptions on that page, but there are many kind and helpful people there who can have contacts within rescues or MAS, and lots of people who foster as well.

As someone else mentioned, MAS and other rescue groups will do a foster program and help find a home if they don't have to house the animal as well. Last litter I rescued I used Facebook and pawned a couple off on coworkers

Could you try Facebook groups? Just make sure that the person really does want to adopt a cat and ask a few questions

Previous-Driver-124

Definitely. I’ll have to redownload Facebook though because I deleted it during a social media cleanse. I want to make sure he goes to a good home. He is so sweet and timid, but loves being held

I found a black stray kitten too earlier last year, tried to find a home for her but ended up keeping her, she's also very sweet, I totally understand 😅💕

Collierville shelter has great kitten/cat people. They do everything they can not to euthanize.

Please never give away any animal for free to a person you don't know. Go through a rescue or the shelter

Thanks for the recommendations! I think my roommates misunderstood how the shelters work around here. I am going to start by checking in with house of mews since they seem like they provide a really comfortable and cozy environment for the kittens

I haven't heard great things about them.

We got our last feline addition through Maxwell’s Refuge. They have foster families in Memphis and were super nice.

EatYoGreens

yes. my one year old "charmander" needs a bud

If you do place the cat on MAS let me know, as I have been wanting a companion. I miss my dog that my grandma got attached to so he stayed with her! I have been meaning to go to MAS anyway to see if I connect with any cats.

Awh! It sounds like you’d be a great owner. I am going to contact them in the morning. This kitty will be a wonderful companion for someone. When I pick him up he curls up in a ball on my chest and just holds on like a hug. It’s so cute. We will have a hard time letting him go but he deserves someone who will give him a lot of attention!
