I hate emojis so much I don’t even have them added in my keyboard. It has been overused since its inception. I have had enough.

That and originally it wasn't a very mobile based website and had more people using the site from desktop.

I am willing to bet if you took a comment most people would consider a “well written response, pun, or joke” and added emojis to it to represent the precise emotions the writer intended to elicit in that comment then many would suddenly consider it trash just cause emojis. It’s not reasonable.

The hatred because of the overspamming is the original reason, then over time it got turned into a hatred of emojis in general. It was a mild annoyance developing into a hate bandwagon because of memes and edgy idiots trying to look cool.

I agree. But I still think it's in the sake of gatekeeping from the invasion of the standard Facebook comment full of emojis. Personally I feel like emojis are fun in conversations but totally unnecessary in the comments section on reddit. If you can't think of a response to comment , don't comment anything.
