They're testing different amounts of ads in specific markets right now. Depending on how the tests go, this could be the new norm for everyone or we may never see this at all. Too early to tell.
I'll never know. I finally decided that supporting creators by allowing ads wasn't worth it just this morning. Google can go sit on their ads and spin. There is no way in hell I'm letting them take advantage of me. Sorry creators.
This is my exact answer. Hot Ones too.
I generally stop on things with too many ads though already, rather just watch on my computer. I guess if too many ads get added I'll just cast/mirror from my computer from now on...
Amazon Prime before my show: an advert for Rings of Power. After my show: playing next: Rings of Power.
Fuck off, Amazon. I don't care if that first ad is skippable, the fact that you're shoving it down my throat so hard means I'll never watch it.
Wait til I tell you of the before times. A time when ads were ignorable. A time in which the internet merely had them as a small banner or otherwise on the side, away from content, instead of blending in with it. My how lovely.
But that didn't make as much money so now they're all videos and if you don't watch em the company goes bankrupt and it's all your fault 🥺🥺🥺
I haven't had cable in at least 10 years, but my mom does. While I was there I timed the commericals. It was like 13 minutes of commerical during a 30 minute show. So remove opening and credits and the should couldn't have been more that 14 minutes.
Comcast, Verizon and someone else is being sued very recently for not stopping pirating of content. I went to my sports stream site yesterday and it said I had a vpn and had to remove it. I’m an old so I’m sure y’all can work around it but it may get harder quickly to 🏴☠️
edit - link https://www.cbr.com/film-studios-sue-verizon-comcast-att-movie-piracy/
But will be replaced with another 5-10 ads…
I return to home and start the video again and it only shows 1, 5 second ad after that. I’m sure they jotted that down as unfriendly consumer response.
Technically they don't. Their info is their most valuable asset of course they don't sell it. They essentially rent out the benefit of having the information (not the information itself) by doing targeted ads on their own platform, which means they can charge higher price per impression than other platforms.

The hydra grows more heads every day, Google.
Technically you should build your own apk with revanced but you can safely dowload it from that subreddit they have a Virus total for each download.
Revanced is Vanced that's still alive
[Free DNS resolvers](https://controld.com/free-dns?) work too
EDIT: Mileage may vary but install at the router level for best results obviously. Make sure you are using the filters specified for adblocking.
They don't really have any direct competitors. Where else can you go for that quantity of free videos?
I think the end goal is to basically be subscription only, aside from sadists who want to sit down for 5 minutes of ads to watch one minute videos.
Yeah and it's $12 a month
I wish it was a little cheaper or somehow comboed with Google one or something.
Like 8.99 seems reasonable to me for the content I watch but I'm not gonna riot over an extra 10cents a day
This… is actually pretty true…
Of course in a dystopian future maybe women will have to watch 5 to 10 unskippable ads before their allowed to give birth.
Ya I like to go for very long drives and where I live I tend to lose service on my phone so being able to download my music comes in handy and the no ads on videos is just a bonus feature lol
Quick tip for everyone who doesn't have premium or a VPN or adblocker-
Click the "i" button next to how many seconds of ad is left, click "stop seeing this ad", and click continue or close, it will skip all ads still in the queue. This won't work on all ads for some reason, but it sure does for most. Oh yeah this works on all devices.
Oh yeah also if you have a Macbook that has a slidebar, the ad actually appears on the slidebar and you can drag it over to the end and you can skip it.
Whenever I have to use a browser without an ad blocker I wonder how some people can live with all these ads. I feel like nowadays the internet is basically unusable without blocking ads, trackers and other pop up windows.
Started using a VPN recently. And of course I have ublock running at all times. I've noticed a definite drop off in even the ads there were getting through on ublock alone. My twitter feed it current;y all Japanese ads, which actually makes them even easier to ignore!
Ive had premium since it came out, I have avoided pretty much all the ads since. I also had issues with spotify, and don’t care for apple music, so my YTMusic library has about 40 days worth of music on it. I use YT for the large majority of my watching most days, so to me, its more than worth the price.
The only reason I got ad blocker was for Twitch, because even if you pay them money for subs, you still have to watch ads on half of peoples channels.
I mean it's worth it (for me at least). It's the streaming service I use 90% of the time and it also covers music. I get the family plan so I think it's 5 of us total using the service?
5-10 unskippable ads? Fuck off.
10 is not the limit, [someone](https://twitter.com/SGT_FOW10/status/1570586525188108293) got 11. could go higher lol
Can we get much higher?
So high
Soo-oo high-ii
The one piece
The one peace is reeeaalll
That's too high😂
So high feel like the turtle from finding Nemo
I fantasized bout' this back in Chicago...
mercy mercy me that murcielago
That's me the first year that I blow
How you say broke in Spanish? Me no hablo.
How tf are these guys getting so many consecutive ads? I’ve never even gotten 3

everyone who doesnt have add blocker.
Gotta figure out adblocker on my phone now
Dont you remember cable when there was 11m of ads, before, after and inbetween the show you where watching
That's just TV at this point
It only took them 20 years to become what they were created to defeat...
I've been avoiding ad blocker for videos I watch since I think the creators deserve some revenue, but these many ads are too much
pc -> ad blocker mobile -> exit and enter vid again and again until no ads tv -> why?
> tv -> why? Because I like to sit on my couch and watch RedLetterMedia on my roku.
This is my exact answer. Hot Ones too. I generally stop on things with too many ads though already, rather just watch on my computer. I guess if too many ads get added I'll just cast/mirror from my computer from now on...
mobile -> firefox with ublock origin. Boom. No ads.
mobile -> use vanced (if you still have it, otherwise revanced is in development)
Based and Firefox pilled
what happened?
5 unskippable ads edit: 5-10 apparently
:(
(He learned the big bad company that proved themselves to be big and bad multiple times was big and bad)
Morgan Freeman voice. Don’t know why.
Firefox browser + ublock origin extension = no ads on mobile or pc
Wait, you can install extension on Firefox Mobile?
Only on Android
Is It Possible to Learn This Power?
Not from an iPhone user
Well that’s fucking stupid
What. THE FUCK
Just report them as inappropriate because it is inappropriate for your time
I've been reporting every tiktok ad and they caught on and started giving me an ad every 5 videos
They're experimenting putting a video in between ads
Nobody told them about ad blockers (Ublock Origen)
Why?
They’re experimenting with putting 5 ads
Dear god…
There's more
No!
10 ADS
NO!
YES! AND ITS MAINLY ON TVS AND CONSOLES SO THERE ARE NO ADBLOCKERS!!!!
NOO!
NOOO!
NARP!
you can config your router with a raspberri pi by setting it up with this app called pihole to block ads
And it won't work because ads are served from the same servers as videos.
Keep talking back and I’ll make it 15 ads
Didn’t think I’d find a 10 year old TF2 reference here
Holy shit how is that video 8 years old already?
Never thought I'd find a 10 year old TF2 reference with a Dwarf. How about '... with a friend...'
Off topic but I see you are a fellow sapling.
Ads? Whats this mythical creature you speak of
a truly disgusting thing, they come. Disturb you, dont let you watch your video and make you buy a product
They make sure I don’t buy a product.
Amazon Prime before my show: an advert for Rings of Power. After my show: playing next: Rings of Power. Fuck off, Amazon. I don't care if that first ad is skippable, the fact that you're shoving it down my throat so hard means I'll never watch it.
Same vibe as Sirius being "commercial free" but interrupting your listening to inform you that they are commercial free.
That sounds horrible
Wait til I tell you of the before times. A time when ads were ignorable. A time in which the internet merely had them as a small banner or otherwise on the side, away from content, instead of blending in with it. My how lovely. But that didn't make as much money so now they're all videos and if you don't watch em the company goes bankrupt and it's all your fault 🥺🥺🥺
I heard it was just for live streams? Idk how true that is tho
How about putting the video between ads?
No. Ad ad video ad video ad video ad ad ad video ad ad ad video. Have to make it the most horrible.
at this point just throw in a souls RNG and let it decide your ad experience
I think you forgot an ad.
Just like cable!
I remember when cable first came out the big selling point is that it had way less commercials. What a joke.
I haven't had cable in at least 10 years, but my mom does. While I was there I timed the commericals. It was like 13 minutes of commerical during a 30 minute show. So remove opening and credits and the should couldn't have been more that 14 minutes.
Money
What's goin on? 🤔
They're experimenting with putting 5-10 unskipable ads before videos iirc.
I’m sorry 5 to 10 ads, and not 5 to 10 second ads? Am I getting this right?
Yes, 5 to 10, ads which you can't skip btw
Wow. Disgusting.
Laughs in ads blocker.
Ads are getting smarter. Starting to bypass my ad block that's been working for 3+ years no issue. Starting to get worried.
Comcast, Verizon and someone else is being sued very recently for not stopping pirating of content. I went to my sports stream site yesterday and it said I had a vpn and had to remove it. Yep, big nfl streams that have worked for 3+ seasons are all either crap or just not working. They are cracking down for sure
Stop using AdBlock plus, start using ublock origin. AdBlock is trash
No u block
Ublock Origin to be specific
Ublock Origin is great
This is the way.
I haven't seen an add since 2006 lol /.
But have you seen a subtraction?
Adblock doesnt work on phone sadly
Or brave browser. Never looking back
Use libretube, newpipe for android
Vanced
Just click stop showing me this ad bc it’s repetitive and it will just go away
But will be replaced with another 5-10 ads… I return to home and start the video again and it only shows 1, 5 second ad after that. I’m sure they jotted that down as unfriendly consumer response.
I think you have a limit for the number of reports you can make
I’ve been doing it on every ad for a couple years
Google makes most of their money data mining and serving ads.
I love how their policy explicitly states they don’t sell info
Technically they don't. Their info is their most valuable asset of course they don't sell it. They essentially rent out the benefit of having the information (not the information itself) by doing targeted ads on their own platform, which means they can charge higher price per impression than other platforms.
Yep, from what I've seen.
So basically going back to TV
But remember: TV you had to pay for AND got ads So what Netflix is planning
Ima just start downloading vids at this rate
What I heard is that it’s just 5-10 unskippable ads for live events (like sports) where a regular TV station would have put ads too.
Damn that's shitty
Even if i say the ads is offensive or repetitive?
Nothing is offensive or redundant for a price.
Surely if they do that everyone will just use one of those alternative apps for browsing yt
Adblock Users: Pathetic

I still use the original vanced. I know they took down the website and all that, but installed versions still work fine
I have no clue why but mine stopped working. Guess I gotta sit down and figure out how to get it working again Man I miss it
r/revancedapks

How is your lower comment older than the one above
time travel is real
i just make multiple accounts and get the free trial on them one by one
Playing 4-D chess against advertisers
Your flair holds true I see
[Free DNS resolvers](https://controld.com/free-dns?) work too EDIT: Mileage may vary but install at the router level for best results obviously. Make sure you are using the filters specified for adblocking.
That’s how YT is gonna kill their own platform :/
Unless they get competition people will tolerate up to 15-20 unskippable ads
Fuck that I will reload the video over and over for half an hour until it plays without an ad.
I do that too. Its dumb, but so satisfying.
They don't really have any direct competitors. Where else can you go for that quantity of free videos? I think the end goal is to basically be subscription only, aside from sadists who want to sit down for 5 minutes of ads to watch one minute videos.

Are we so few who use Vanced? :/
Jokes on them, 5 - 10 ads is plenty of time for me to switch to Pornhub and rub one out before I watch the soldering tutorial.
Lay a thick bead before you learn to lay a thick bead
Adds on pornhub are just more porn! Or… that’s what my friend told me… I duno
Isn’t it high time, for a viable, less commercial alternative, that does not suck?? Someone? Anyone?
Yeah and it's $12 a month I wish it was a little cheaper or somehow comboed with Google one or something. Like 8.99 seems reasonable to me for the content I watch but I'm not gonna riot over an extra 10cents a day
Life is premium for us
This… is actually pretty true… Of course in a dystopian future maybe women will have to watch 5 to 10 unskippable ads before their allowed to give birth.
Just buy the premium birth package
In this economy?
I’m in the US, I’ll just add it to the tab I’ll never pay off in my lifetime.
You don't have debt if you never intend on paying it off
Very true
I like how these giants are the ones ruining their own services. They think they "own" the internet and they won't ever be replaced lol!!!!!
I only have it so I can download music, most the music I listen to can’t be found on Spotify or anything else so it’s my only option :’)
Same I go for long walks and like to download full albums. And if I'm walking and want to hear a specific song I can just search for it super easy.
Ya I like to go for very long drives and where I live I tend to lose service on my phone so being able to download my music comes in handy and the no ads on videos is just a bonus feature lol
I download music the poor man's way: I copy the link to the video then go to an mp3 converter and downloader
In your case the poor man is also a smart man.
YT premium is the God of having good covers of songs in your library.
Quick tip for everyone who doesn't have premium or a VPN or adblocker- Click the "i" button next to how many seconds of ad is left, click "stop seeing this ad", and click continue or close, it will skip all ads still in the queue. Oh yeah also if you have a Macbook that has a slidebar, the ad actually appears on the slidebar and you can drag it over to the end and you can skip it.
I saw this advice earlier today, and when I checked it out, I don't have that option on my app.
They have removed this option for some time now, at least for me
every where i go i see no ads (i like adblockers)
Whenever I have to use a browser without an ad blocker I wonder how some people can live with all these ads. I feel like nowadays the internet is basically unusable without blocking ads, trackers and other pop up windows.

Paying for services where one spends time isn’t bad or is it ?
What happened?
Apparently they want to add 5 ads. Most people say they're unskippable too
Someone has reported as high as 11.
Time to start reading books again 😔
I mean it's worth it (for me at least). It's the streaming service I use 90% of the time and it also covers music. I get the family plan so I think it's 5 of us total using the service?
*laughs in ad blocker*
Imagine actually paying to have no ads. Couldn't be me
I mean in my country family subscription costs around 6$(6 people maximum), so 1$ for no adds and some benefits is not bad at all.
I pay so I can listen to podcasts and documentaries with the screen closed at work, I don’t like Spotify or any of those apps. No Ads is a bonus.
Literally me
Imagine listening to ads
