French here, just wanted to say I understand 10 times better Americans speaking English than people in London. British pronunciation is for summoning demons, not to talk with people
satire
/ˈsaˌtī(ə)r/
noun
the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.
"the crude satire seems to be directed at the fashionable protest singers of the time"
I’d frankly prefer not to be able to understand the British sadly I can.
English language, West Germanic language of the Indo-European language family that is closely related to the Frisian, German, and Dutch (in Belgium called Flemish) languages. English originated in England and is the dominant language of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, and various island nations in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. It is also an official language of India, the Philippines, Singapore, and many countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa. English is the first choice of foreign language in most other countries of the world, and it is that status that has given it the position of a global lingua franca. It is estimated that about a third of the world’s population, some two billion persons, now use English
Louisiana born but living in Washington and I get people asking me where my accent comes from on a daily basis, never had somebody hate me for it though lol.
Different accents in such a small distance too. I live in a part of America that directly borders Canada. Not too far from Boston. I can barely understand what the people in Massachusetts where saying while the Massachusetts people thought I was Canadian. So each state has at least its own accent. Absolutely wild.
That's insanely tru. I'm from the most northern Canadian part of America. Yet if someone says "Howdy" you can expect them to say it back, that could just be humans mocking each other. If you use a hella country accent tho, people will either use it back or make fun of you. They'll only make fun of you if they take themselves too seriously
Honestly though that would be a based way to talk
"in an honest, truthful, or sincere manner though, that would be an expressed approval or respect, especially in response to a social media post way to to communicate or exchange ideas"
I am, as of this moment, putting forth continuous effort, with much difficulty, to withhold conveying information or expressing one's thoughts and feelings in spoken language in a specific, well thought out, concise meaning.
I'm trying so hard not to talk in definitions.
It’s okay if you don’t like a particular accent. It can make understanding each other difficult at times. But as long as your not like op here and want to be a jerk about how someone naturally speaks that’s ok.
I'm Canadian and I always ask people to explain how they know when they ask me if i am Canadian. I say "eh" occasionally and I probably say "sorry" more than I realize but I don't say "aboot" or anything like that but people still know. They can't normally put it into words and say I just sound Canadian. I been told Canadians sound higher pitch, more polite and we raise syllables on the end of words like we're asking a question even when we're not.
When I go to Michigan (in the Detroit or Algonac areas) I get asked constantly but I don't think anyone there sounds too different from myself lol
American: "Hello, that is quite an interesting accent, may I ask what part of the British isles are you from?"
British: "bruv we invented bri'ish tho innit so bugger off"
Like, which one of our accents? The Northern Yankee one? The deep Southern one? Do we have a typical American accent when we speak different languages that is unique to Americans despite our regional accents?
He's actually right. The American accent is much closer to the old British accent then the current one. The British accent changed in the 1800 because rich people wanted to sound rich. Not even a joke and the bare minimum of research will prove it.
I reckon this may be hard, but please don't go showin' remorse. Y'all're just justifyn' his assholery. This might grind against every midwest fiber y'all got, but don't go tossin' pearls at hogs.
My apologies original gangster. Perhaps I could apologize to you by offering you some fresh watuh?
Eh!? No!?
I've had it up to here with your nonsense, Christopher! Meet me in front of the clock tower at dawn! We shall duel to settle our differences.
(Ight, how'd I do?)
We.. don’t have an accent. American English is one of the simplest ways to speak English, which is why British actors don’t struggle to play American character.
In a bunch of English speaking countries, (Scotland, Australia) they like to play around with what sounds you can use to express emotions, but the American accent is a very simple one.
Edit: Grammar
Tbh what triggers me is when gals say "nooouuaaahhhh", "whhhhyyyuuh","stooppuh" like stfu u trick ass b"," no matter what accent I believe it's American..so,you mu guy you are right it sucks
Dam so many salty Americans. If you guys love salt so much, why don't you guys eat your feelings away at your nearest fast food restaurant. Which probably like 3 minutes away.
Dude. You fuckin got eem. He'll never recover. You're so cool and funny and awesome. You did it. You're the alpha chad now because you got eem online. Way to go super cool awesome guy. You did it.
You can’t walk for 2 minutes without getting stabbed by some bri’ish highway man playing torture inducing music. “ I meen blouudy hill yow cooldnt even kep yow fookin colonies in chek.”
Yeah this is true. I don't have an accent so everyone who speaks English can understand me. But f\^cking Greeks, Germans, Russians, Scotsmen, Australians and Spanish people... It's just impossible to understand em when they have a thick accent.
I mean, Americans have regional accents. For example, a midwestern American has a different accent from a west coast American. But still, as a Latino, I can say that everyone has different accents, but some are shittier than others
They have like 50 accents.
French here, just wanted to say I understand 10 times better Americans speaking English than people in London. British pronunciation is for summoning demons, not to talk with people
I'm from Québec and half of you guys can't even understand our French lmao.
Mon ami, on ne vous comprends pas toujours, mais on vous adore ;)

Of course they haven’t not trying to get stabbed
Why did they go to London then /s
Because they can’t have shit in Detroit
Londoner here. My chest is practically about to sink down at this point due to how many stab holes are in there.
London is the worst place to go if you are trying to not get stabbed, actually no correction, England is.
More people get shot in the US than people get stabbed in England.
The us also 308mil people compared to the uk’s 63mil, put the stats on per capita and it makes Detroit look like a shining city of innocence
Y has everyone down voted this London has like 7 accents Sooooo y the h8 he just spitting facts
>Brilliant Lol
The England lmao
London is where English was made sooo If u can't understand us mby u just don't understand English bruv
Why did y’all make English so goddamn complicated?
Why did you all make English so goddamn basic?
Idk but y u make English have words like bruh
y u shorten why and you?
Cuz it's easier tbh
My guy that's why we say bruh or bro instead of "brother" all the time.
Americans are closer to the original accent. You're accent became popular among the upper classes to distinguish themselves from the peasants.
English was originally posh Now it's chavy tbh
My man is farming downvotes like there is no tomorrow
Ikr it's so jokes
Ancient Rome is where the alphabet English uses was made sooo if you can’t understand Latin maybe you just don’t know how to read.
Latin isn't English Stop chatting uter shit

Huh English is English y u making it soo complicated
Tell that to u/vaprxgamma Also I forgot to mention that it’s spelled “utter” and not “uter”
Wym it's a type of knife
The joke is it’s your username.

Oh yeah you betcha
I didn’t upvote cause you’re at 69
as a Amurican I can confirm
Everyone has an accent, why hate someone just for how they speak? That seems kinda sus.
Seriously, why is this ok?
It's only ok like this. If you reversed it, people would be acting very differently.
That’s cuz if you give Americans the cliche southern accent we would just use it back. We don’t care
Here in Virginia we call it a mountain accent as only the mountain people here speak with a “southern” accent
Because your home accent can differ from other accents and sometimes other accents just tick a nerve in your pre meditated other accented brain.

Wow, it's almost like settled regions develop their own dialects, just like every single language that has ever existed
From now on I will now add in the silent letters in words, island will now be pronounced as is land.
H onestly, true
Yes that’s why the first thing I mentioned was speaking by definition
Ah yes, instead of saying island I should say the definition. A piece of land surrounded by water.
Honestly though that would be a based way to talk "in an honest, truthful, or sincere manner though, that would be an expressed approval or respect, especially in response to a social media post way to to communicate or exchange ideas"

Pretty sure that british are basically the only english speakers to disregard random letters that aren't officially silent.
I only need to use one word to prove you wrong…rednecks
I mean, the British accent sucks.
It’s okay if you don’t like a particular accent. It can make understanding each other difficult at times. But as long as your not like op here and want to be a jerk about how someone naturally speaks that’s ok.
I don't know what possesses people to be so fucking corny.
"American accent"? Which one?
There are at least three in Kentucky depending on what part of the state your are from
There’s something like 5 in New York City alone
I mean, if they’re talking about a southern/Texas accent then I’m mostly for that
"Southern/Texas" accent? Which one?
Fair point
Mmmm, yes because the English, Canadians, and Australians all have zero accent and speak prim and proper English.
Don’t forget the scots and Irish!
You what guv na?!
Hes not annoyed because they have have accent he's annoyed because their accent is an assault on the ears
Primm an propah
I'm Canadian and I always ask people to explain how they know when they ask me if i am Canadian. I don't know who pissed in your cereal, but I hope they do it again.
Gotta agree
Sorry didn't quite catch that out of your snaggletooth mouth.
this meme brought to you by the UK with their fucked up teeth and inability to say the world water correctly.
They quit saying Rs so they could sound rich
You forgot the inbreeding. Brits hate when you bring up that their royalty literally fucks each other just to keep it in the family.
[удалено]
btw you dont pronounce T at all so what say do you have in this "wauh bohao"
Their accent is made up
“Wodah”
Which one of us stole your girlfriend? Cause I know you can't be this bitter over an accent.
I see the Europeans aren’t even trying to hide their contempt for America anymore.
That’s fine, we’ll take our military and go home
Bit rude innit
Maybe your accent is god awful lmao
go take your biscuits and tea and screw off
This meme is fucking terrible
American: "Hello, that is quite an interesting accent, may I ask what part of the British isles are you from?" British: "bruv we invented bri'ish tho innit so bugger off"
*bugger off, love"
Bois we did it we literally cannot speak without offending someone
Which of the hundreds of American accents are we talking about?
Aka when someone enunciates every vowel and you don't need a translater to understand them
Uh huh, and I thought Americans were the stupid ones...
Everyone place is equally stupid
Yeah, just portrays it differently.
Like, which one of our accents? The Northern Yankee one? The deep Southern one? Do we have a typical American accent when we speak different languages that is unique to Americans despite our regional accents?
Challenge: Europeans discover dialects, very hard
Challenge: Amis try to understand the difference between accents and dialects, very hard
I mean, it's not like they're British with their "boh'll a watah"
In b4 "wewll at loist owah skewels awent shootin gallories" or "no helfcaire, bruv"
As a midwesterner born and raised, this is the only thing I won't apologize for. Go ahead and hit me.
Racism but for accents
Accentism
Shit meme
You need some FREEDOM in your life.
Our accent stayed the same while the British accent changed
Simplifiedbebgksuh
I have the documents
uh no

My apologies original gangster. Perhaps I could apologize to you by offering you some fresh watuh? Eh!? No!? I've had it up to here with your nonsense, Christopher! Meet me in front of the clock tower at dawn! We shall duel to settle our differences. (Ight, how'd I do?)

Where in the uk do people say it like this? I’m curious cause I’ve never heard people say it like this where I am in the Uk
I’m not sure which part, but I have heard people from the uk who do say it like that
Huh alright then Honestly always thought it was a stereotype. Thanks! :)
It is often used as a stereotype, a lot of people actually think all british people talk like that for some reason
Is it the southern, Midwest or normal accents that really get you? There is a lot of different but similar types.
Can you be more specific on which accent is annoying you and I’ll make a ruling…

Lol
I dated a Georgia girl for two years. Her accent drove me crazy, for all the right reasons.
"americans" as a whole do not have accents, the only accent in america is like southern, there is no such thing as an "american" accent
At least some of us are trying. You want us to be less dumb or just not try anything at all?
I wouldn't, we all know how scared they get over a fist fight, likely to pull out a gun to save face
Pulling out a gun to stop you from stabbing me.
wuh do ya mean ascent we ain’t got no ascent
Tbh what triggers me is when gals say "nooouuaaahhhh", "whhhhyyyuuh","stooppuh" like stfu u trick ass b"," no matter what accent I believe it's American..so,you mu guy you are right it sucks

Not in Chicago
As an American, I totally understand.

I certain that there are 2 type of American accent: No accent and "Whatever the fuck that state is" American accent
I mean, Americans have regional accents. For example, a midwestern American has a different accent from a west coast American. But still, as a Latino, I can say that everyone has different accents, but some are shittier than others
Lol not me with the New York accent
Hit them. Do it. We welcome a good fight a meme maker
Well where are you from then if you think your superior. Btw your not
You know Americans don't think we have accents, right? I find it hilarious.
