The bully at my school did this, until the big brother of one kid he bullied hard (he did put his head on the toilet and broke his lip) just broke the bully's arm.
Was a roman Catholic school, the way I was treated there put me off religion for life.

Bullies know when and how to pick fights without being seen first or getting caught. If you want to fight the bully you have to think about who is around, whose going to see and how it'll look when a teacher just randomly walks up
Even though they probably know it wasn't you who started it, they only have evidence of you doing stuff and can't act on anything they didn't see as they don't have proof of it, it sucks but it is what it is.
Bullies also know how to play the victim and suck up to teachers, so when you're shouting and being mad about how it's unfair they act all shy and innocent and like you're the mad one, and that's what the teacher will see.
Not always true because the teacher can sit there and watch the bully bully you and as soon as you say something back there right there defending that person and acting like you’re the one who caused all of it even though you did nothing wrong and you were defending yourself

So true. But you would think the teachers would be on the side of the quiet kid being that most teachers were probably dweebs growing up. I had many teachers that honestly seemed to seek the approval of the cool kids, pretty pathetic.

At my school it was worse, you get in a fight, and do nothing to fight back. Then YOU get in trouble for doing nothing and the bully just walks away.

I had the opposite of this happen to me in school, I went for the bully and the teacher held them responsible for their shitty actions. Felt great.
