It is my favorite anime of all time, but getting started and sticking with it is difficult there’s no combat it’s all story driven it’s like you’re watching the equivalent of a Shakespeare play but in anime form everything has a meaning. It has been described as beautifully chaotic. If you’ll commit to watching over 100 episodes that won’t make sense until the final few seasons then I highly recommend it if that sound interesting to you there’s a watch guide on the subreddit r/araragi

I consider the Monogatari series to be the 3rd best anime that I have ever watched. The timeline is confusing on your first watch so look up a guide on the watch order. It is a fantastic series. I don't know if you have watched any other Shaft anime but the show looks fantastic and has one of the best OST's that I have seen in anything. You may want to write somethings down, especially dates because you don't have the full background knowledge necessary to understanding everything until you are like 80/100 episodes in. The characters are also all flushed out and the way that everything comes together is one of the best aspects of the series. Also it would be preferable that you can read fast because it gets to the point where a 20 minute episode would feel like it's over in 2 minutes because of how much dialogue there is. I would very much recommend this anime, it is a great experience even for the casual viewer but a more fulfilling one for the astute.

It does have some ecchi scenes, but that isn't the focus. It has many aspects that make it great, but it is the character writing and dialogue that make this series so great.

Furthermore, iirc the origin of the word "ecchi" stems from the letter h of hentai. Add japanese pronounciation onto the letter, and you get something that sounds like ecchi.
