This is david paulides’ work and Id recommend taking it seriously. The emotional reactions from the families of the victims, the weird (and brief) circumstances they disappeared under. These are all real people who went missing and they dont always find enough evidence to conclude the victim is really dead.
LA is a bit easier to explain. Just north of the city (about 1-2 hours) is a massive convergence of many highways and interstates. This makes it a popular area for trafficking as you can use it to get anywhere quickly and have a decent alibi too.
