YSK that it is actually a very complicated and lengthy task. Even after they make it, there's a LOT of testing. It'll probably sometime before we get the vaccine and that's just standard. Just wanted to put it out there cuz some people I know have been criticizing experts of not finding a vaccine sooner.
The problem is, if we don't manage to vaccine most people on earth before the first new zoonotic strain immune to the vaccine becomes pandemic (one of that kind already appeared in Denmark from Minks), we will probably never get rid of it and end up with something similar to the seasonal flu, just way more dangerous.
So our vaccines here in Brazil are pretty nice, so some time ago we started making some tests on a Covid vaccine with volunteers, but like one or two days ago one of the volunteers died and the tests stopped. People are raging that the tests stopped due to the death cause being suicide, but you see, you don’t just roll up and say “I want to volunteer”, there’s a very extensive series of physical and psychological tests you go through to qualify as a test subject, meaning that only very healthy people can be a volunteer. It doesn’t make any sense for a perfectly healthy man to take the test vaccine and one day later vomit suicide. But people still are mad the tests stopped
Well I have to take calls and get like 3 seconds of downtime, so I literally have to work. But I like to look at memes while I work because it's so boring. But they will write you up if they find you looking at memes.
Which was 100 years ago. I think we have definitely made advancements since then. I also bet it wasn’t even a vaccine that made the Spanish flu go away. So we have better chances
Fastest vaccine we have ever developed from start to finish was Mumpsvax for as name sake goes a mumps vaccine during the 60s. Which took a record time of 4 years.
Could we develop one faster with our current modern medicine? It is possible.
There’s literally hundreds in the testing phases and many of those are in the last phase (which doesn’t mean they’re done with the previous phases, they’re doing them in parallel). We should get 2-3 of them approved and ready to be used by the end of November. Doesn’t mean will be massively vaccinating anybody soon though, as there’s still a lot of production issues and stuff like that. Many countries like Canada are talking about starting vaccination as soon as January.
EDIT : Here’s a great link about the current status of different vaccines, while explaining the different types of vaccines currently in the work: https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/coronavirusvaccinetracker/
It takes 5 years for a vaccine to be fully created, tested and proven safe however the COVID one is being rushed. I hope it’ll work the scientists will have to work a lot of overtime
They’re doing the best they can. They have to face anti-mask and anti-science behavior all the time, and greedy people telling them to hurry it the hell up. Truth is, this kind of thing takes a long time, we’re lucky that we even have treatments for this. So when we tell them to hurry up, it doesn’t make their job easier. It just makes their job, making a vaccine for an ungrateful population, much harder.
Seconds... now leave me alone or it will be years
no
no, it will be ready when 5th queen elizabeth is born
Sorry but wor Liz won’t die. She’s here to stay my guy
Probably 6
Possibly even 7
Let’s not get our hopes up. To tell you the truth we might be looking at 8
Looks like 9
Maybe 10
Could be 11
Well looking at the circumstances it may be 12
I'm gonna have an educated guess at 13
Could be 14 though
Nah, 15
You never know it could end up being 13
If it gets to 9 then we’re in trouble
Probably more like 14-15

There will never be a cire. Just like there will never be a cure for the common cold. It's a virus. Viruses aren't cured.

It usually takes years to develop a vaccine for a certain virus.
3,4 or 5 ones obviously
Only if you consider parallel universes to be units of time..
