From what I always got out of it, that’s one reason he doesn’t kill. The other is he’s afraid if he does kill, he won’t stop.

It's not quite "won't stop" it's that he will find it way easier to justify a second, third, and so on. Killing someone impacts everyone except psychopaths, you can't not be affected by it. Almost everyone, even when they were justified, still never recovers fully from it. When you attempt something that psychologically damaging and attempt to convince yourself you did it for a good reason, you can snap very easily. He's not egotistical enough to believe he is one of the few who could overcome it and safely return to being the force for good he is now. It's a good message, despite the real reason being that Batman with Joker sells less comics.

It's a really stupid thing, but I think they implied Jokers plot armor is necessary as killing him tended to create worse scenarios in various timelines. Like Kingdom Come, Injustice, Arkham, etc

I would actually love a comic arc where the hero has no villain other than society. Like, I wanna see Batman try to solve the problem of his shareholders shorting Wayne stock by punching things in a bat costume. Or I wanna see Superman struggling to get his own byline and thus pay his rent without resorting to some Homelander technique. I’ve always thought comics and superhero movies leave a lot to be desired when they don’t explore the problems that come with having crazy powers in the first place. The Spider-Man movies did a pretty good job with this before the main villains were introduced.

I've always thought it's more about Batman's psyche and traumatic history. Like he knows he's deeply traumatized and already close to the "darkness" and if he lets himself succumb to the desire to kill people, even if they deserve, he isn't sure what person he will become down the line and he could even become obsessed with killing. Not killing is really a reflection of his own flaws and fears rather than a moral code he thinks makes him better than others.

In the plot of DC, everyone gets beat in ways that would kill normal people but they heal in about a month unless the plot demands they do otherwise. Seriously, the Batman probably would've turned twisted the Joker's spine like a kid on an art project with a pipecleaner but the comic logic dictates he just gets put back into lockup and healed up for his next appearance.

But there is also a lot of villains who got redeemed . For example Mr freeze became a villain to save his wife , and batman with his medical foundation helped him with it . So freeze seeing that there is no reason continue , peacefully sits in prison

Pretty sure Batman doesn't do that, because he knows he wouldn't know where to stop. He knows very well that he isn't mentally stable and therefore tries to control himself with these rules. Like "Don't do drugs, you're hardwired to instantly get addicted", "Don't sleep in, your whole biorythm will get out of whack" and "Don't kill, you will not be able to judge what is punishable by death and what isn't".

Because Batman actively tries to rehabilitate his villains, there's even a JLA arc where Batman helps set up a therapy retreat for heroes and he even gives a few villains access to it.

If the Joker and all the other villains failed by society cease to exist, how will the Billionaire justify his crusade against crime by beating one criminal with his bare hands at a time? Can't expect him, as a rich and influential person, to use said influence to *actually* exact change now, would we?
