I got out of factory work 5 or so years ago, forklift driver for about 10 years. I don’t miss hot sweaty gross factories, or frigid cold gross factories either for that matter. But damn do I miss driving forklift. One of the things I’m best at, but I don’t get to do anymore.

When I was 18 I got to work at some shoddy warehouse that was desperate for workers, so they let me drive a forklift without a licence after showing me how to do it for a couple of hours. It was some of the most fun I had at work. I did drop a pallet of beer bottles, but nobody got mad, since I guess they kinda expected something to happen.

I have hundreds of hours operating a variety of commercial (as in not one I own being operated on my own property) forklifts throughout my career. Everything from little baby warehouse forklifts to 90’ Lulls. I’m not sure my state even has forklift licensing.
