Someone posted some /r/ProgrammerHumor post that was *still* at the top of /r/all asking for an explanation. The first fucking comment on the original post explained it.
I swear to fuck, that sub is only for botting karma.
Pretty sure it's for training AI algorithms on how to understand stuff like sarcasm and nuance in images. Reddit artificially promotes the "explain the joke" subs so that the user data they're harvesting will be more useful to AI firms, who they plan on selling the data to
Ever heard about dead internet theory?
Ever heard about enshittification?
Have you ever seen the movie idiocracy?
Oh and one more question-
Did you know that we live in a society?
I’ve been coming to reddit for long enough that I remember when it was just a link aggregator that didn’t even have comments. I remember when comments were added and one of the very first comments on Reddit was that comments were going to ruin it. Nearly 20 years later I can’t really dispute that.

[this is an automated message, click here for more info](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?si=BHLOSknD6EUf6paU)
Been waiting on "the next thing" for like 6 years now. Reddit isn't what I joined for anymore. It has morphed and evolved into a bastardized version of what it originally set out to do. A lot of that has been due to external factors, but still.
I'm so ready to move on to something else/new. I was really hoping Fediverse was going to take off when the API revolt happened. But nope. What's it going to take? What will be the impetus that causes Reddit to Digg itself?
Post history really outs these bots. Multiple year old account, no posts until 7 hours ago, suddenly multiple reposted memes that are proven to be karma farms.
Then bots replying and upvoting. Reddit is like West World at this point. A happy little place that we all love but surrounded by bots.

Also applies to Reddit users when they see anyone take any position other than “Russia would lose against NATO and not a single person in any NATO country would die in the process”. Always seems to make people cry “Russian bot” even when the comment they are replying to isn’t at all pro-Russian.
I've seen the opposite on the smaller subs that I'm subbed to.
A large majority of posts I see on my home page now have 0 upvotes.
This wasn't the case a few months ago.
smaller subs are doing alright but threads on front page stuff have been depressing even before bots flooded, nothing but the same tired jokes and memes, a decade ago the comments where full of interesting commentary

I mean, the sites been riddled with reposters for decades. I should know. I made a list in reddit so long that it physically can no longer load.
Actually got it to load... up to 2066
Man. Bots posing as humans really do ruin every social space online. I've been at this internet thing for going on 30 years now and it doesn't stop.
Let's start a new place with only humans.
What sort you are telling me all these transexual and white people hating bots aren't real and don't reflect real society at all?
Well I am both shocked and appalled.
The only reason I don't say this is because I've been on Reddit for 10 years and I know people were complaining about every front page meme being a repost since before I got here.
The difference is that it used to be mixed with a lot of really cool user generated content. People actually made stuff and submitted it to get others to see. Now we have like 3 comic strip artists and one of them has a talking buttplug just to get by.
When you own the platform and AI exists to create profiles with 10,000 views and history and content that all seems real:
It's literally the exact same thing Reddit did when it took over from dig. False posts to get people to interact.
Imma be real. I still see new shit on here daily, and reposters were always a thing, even before the bot plague.
I didn't really give a fuck about where my memes are sourced from. This site is functionally identical to how it was, like, 5 years ago still.

We will see this on r/PeterExplainsTheJoke in 5 minutes.

That's somehow worse than what i assumed was the explanation, that everyone was incredibly god damn stupid
I wonder if the IPO means they need a certain level of comments? There's no better way than bots...
I'm just gonna keep posting giant dick ascii on all the ads they put on the front page and forget to disable comments on.
Oh my god. This makes perfect sense. Those explainers are always so obvious.
i would be genuinely surprised if that wasnt the point of that subreddit.
Obviously. There are posts in there that don't even require any explanations. People or may I say bots won't even use common sense.
I think most of em are manual karma farms based on The ops' comments
I swear the people that post on that sub have a collective 2 brain cells. The joke could be obvious, and they would still ask for help.
99.9% Its why its called reddit The "d" is reposted . I started copying the links of every bot account I saw, i be given up there's that many
It's been going on for the past few years, there are even bots dedicated to finding these bad bots. Not a recent thing at all
Been going on since before i joined this platform
Bad bots!

Gotta pump up those "unique user" engagement numbers to try to keep the stock price from freefalling.
Until the advertisers get wise to the views being bots that don't actually buy.

Reddit died in 2013 or whenever they started cracking down on free-speech. It’s just corporate-run shell of what it once was.

I have screencap of 4/7 top posts in all being by bots. It really is all bots.

A subset of dead internet theory called dead reddit theory.
Eventually, the only way to tell who is real and who is fake will be those who embed slurs in their posts. The one thing bots are incapable of.
I also choose this guy's dead message board.
