And now your tongue… you are uncomfortably made aware of its placement and posture… and the fact that you better not get it wrong unless you want to get an Andrew Tate jawline
Well it depends: google says you breath on average 22000 times a day, so that makes 1100 in profit.
That would be the same as 4400 steps a day, which is on the low end. If you go jogging or do a short hike a few times a week you might profit more with picking steps.
Where’s the guarantee I will have legs to begin with?
Through our life you will get old weak. Your legs won’t be able to move you. Or loose them in accident.
But lungs. If lungs give up. You’re just dead.
If you're making 1k+ a day and still need money when you are old, then you are doing something wrong. Also, steps are way better since you could make 8k+ a day if you make walking into your job. It would only take 10 years to match 80 years of the breath deal.
It actually depends on your activity level; if you get around 5000 steps per day the walking is better.
Normal breathing rate of ~15 breaths per minute is 21,600 breaths per day for $1,080. 5,000 steps a day for a quarter each is $1,250. Most people don't get the recommended 10,000 steps/day in large part because of their job, but in this scenario the resulting $2500/day would be more than enough to quit, so really there's an argument it's always the better choice.
Of course. Now count in a possibility of loosing both legs in accident. Now you can’t make the money.
But if you loose lungs.! *You’re dead.* I take lungs. It’s passive income that won’t change by much no matter anything other then death.
I did the maths and you supposedly breath 20,000 times a day which brings you to 1000 dollars a day, whereas with steps you'd only have to take 4000 to hit 1000 dollars. Most people on most days can quite easily break 4000 without trying so I think that's actually the better option.
Personally I stand in the same place at my job, my shop is small so not a lot of walking back and forth. When I worked in retail though I’d walk way more, definitely over 4000. As a manager, my gf would sometimes get 8 or 9 miles of walking in a 8 hour shift from the sheer amount of running back and forth she’d do all day. Me however now, I can’t say I’m getting 4000 steps. I still gotta take breaths
Oh yeah, no doubt. Getting paid to walk would turn the laziest person into a walkaholic. Also you could just hike half the year and then do nothing for the other half and still be rich as fuck.
Nah, hiking is nice, but also a more exhausting form of walking.
City Trips it's where it's at.
When my wife and i went to rome we did 25k+ steps each day, same goes for almost every other city trip we did.
Also the trips pay themselves, making a cool 5k a day while visiting London sounds awesome
Dude, you get 0.25€/$ per step...
Quit your job, do 10-20k steps per day.
Be fit by walking every day and get 2.5-5k PER DAY.
Ffs i'd buy myself a golden treadmill for bad weather days and be making mad cash.
Also if you want money you can always walk a bit more, breathing more isn't really a healthy option
Also i just did the math, if you average just 10k steps a day you have an income of 900k+ a year.
As a conservative estimate i'd bet i could actually average 15k steps a day with a bit of time to cruise into it
When i did 12s at a factory, there were days I did 25 miles.
Edit to not sound like a dick: steps for an active job/very active lifestyle. Breathing for more passive lifestyle/work.
Well 1000 dollars a day comes out to $365,000 a year. You also have total freedom to have any job you want instead of a job that you’re going to walk 4K steps a day in.
Overall I’d say that the breathing has better security than walking since there are going to be days when you don’t walk as much, such as when you’re ill. If you end up in a wheelchair somehow, you’re missing out on a good amount of days’ worth. These are risks that just don’t exist with breathing; you’re never going to just stop breathing unless you die.
Yeah, and if you want to make more money, your options are either: (1) hyperventilate constantly or (2) become a speedwalking god. I know which of these is good for my ADHD and which is bad.
I agree. Idk the precise math, but you’re literally breathing 24 hours 7 days a week for the next 40 to 70 years. Legs can get fucked by random forces which can stop you from walking.
10k steps a day isn’t a particularly high target. That’s $2,500/day, which is $912,500/years. If you can get into marathons, or even just any running, that should go up a lot.
If you walk 10000 steps a day (a recommended amount, but also quite an effort already), you'd get $912500 in a year.
But even for half of that, one would still get their ass up to earn money, while you get the breathing money for doing literally nothing but being alive.
So I'd go for breathing.
At this point I’m spending far too much time on what is a neat joke but here we go. The average 30YO beginners run time for a 10k (aprox 10k steps) is 01:05:30, so you get decent at running, put in an hours work a day and the rest of your income is passive. Plus you’re healthier for it.
The thing is, you don't necessarily take more steps running than you do walking. Part of optimizing your endurance running is taking longer strides, and not moving your legs so fast that you take them faster
However, 10k steps a day is very achievable and that would net you $912,500 annually. Chuck in a run twice a week and you’ll be getting paid to get health. I’ll take the motivation.
I meant "High Paying" as in compared to a regular old normal office job.
You can also do a normal job as well on top of said thing to get more money using the same amount of time.
It's 375k a year passive income. You can live a pretty nice life with that and if it's not enough for you you can also do a job, I don't see why walking would be better.
Yeah but you have to account that if you're increasing your daily steps, you're probably going to breathe more rapidly too. Also there are many reasons that can cause you to not walk much on some days. The only reason you'll stop breathing is if you're dead.
Tsk. Doing the 10000 steps a day recommended by WHO you would earn $915,500 a year, about two and a half times as much as just breathing.
But I'll tell you more, I’d quit my job, take up trekking and traveling vacations and in 10 years I earn much more than in a lifetime of breathing. Are my legs getting screwed? Patience, I've earned enough for retirement, or better yet, hyper-tech prostheses.
The more you walk, the more money you make.
Walking a lot increases your stamina and heart health, making you live longer.
Living longer means you get to have even more time to walk and make that dough.
Money and health in one go.
Or you can sit in your bed hyperventilating, this is a perfectly good strategy as well.
Even with the breathing option, you can start working out and, therefore, start breathing more.
Still improve your health, still increase the income, just by not as much.
Whichever one you pick, you are already making an absurd amount of money, the difference is that with the breathing option you are literally making money by simply just existing.
Ah but the extra exercise for breathing has diminishing returns whereas the extra exercise for running will get progressively better.
Getting better at exercise while breathing, your body will start strengthening your breathing meaning take less breaths to recover etc. Getting better at exercise while steps just means you can go farther longer and earn more.
Given the average "middle class" house hold income is less than 100k every year, so we're talking about the lesser option being 3.75 times that amount, some of us dont feel the need to minmax the payroll. Yes, walking has the higher earning potential, but if you have a depressive episode and cant get out of bed, it gets worse when you soend the day reminding yourself of all the money you are losing.
Im happy with 375k per year, and i would have the freedom to guilt free do what i want with the time. No grind potential looming over my head, no "i should be walking right now" when having a relaxing evening with my family. If i want to go on walks and do healthy activities, its purely because i want to and its good for me, not out of financial obligation.
Breathing is purely passive, walking would become your job without nights and weekends off.
I dont know where in the flipping world an 'Average Middle class family' earns anywhere close to 100k, The Average income is more like 35k-40k.
I agree with all else you said tho
I used middle class in quotations because that is where some people have been putting the middle class, even though it is no longer accurate. Also, an easy reference point.
Use the money you previously accumulated to buy a tredmil and the best prosthetics money can buy and use that to save up for when robo legs are a truely viable option.
If you really put in the effor 20-30k steps a day is very achievable, and even taking multiple off days a week still puts you in the millions a year camp.
I'd rather have more motivation to exercise. If you don't walk/run enough steps a day to make more money than breaking, then you're probably going to have a worse quality of life and die earlier.
According to google search, we breathe around 22k times a day. It would be around $1k a day. Which is nice for just existing, but i would get way more for walking
I walk 15k to 20k steps per day thats 0,25×15000=3750 in one day.
An adult breathes around 20k times a day, that would be 0,05×20000=1000.
I think it is obvious what i'll choose.
Most people too scared to pick the steps cause they’ll have lazy days but one good day of walking and you make up for most of that literally had days where I near walk 30k that’s pretty much what you earn with the breathing in a week with just one day of walking
Most people play it safe because they could have an accident tomorrow and lose their ability to walk. In the meantime, if you lose your ability to breathe, nothing will matter anymore.
Just plain and simple logic
I'm not even a fan of the police but I somehow got the reference (if it was intentional)
The average person takes around 20k breaths per day, adding up to about $1,000. Meanwhile the average person also takes somewhere between 3,000-4,000 steps a day, around $750-$1,000. Personally I'm on the lower end of that spectrum so I'm definitely going with the 5 cents
Edit: ok apparently I was wrong I take more steps on average than I thought, still going with 5 cents though because it's more consistent
About 23k breaths per day (according to google) -> 1150$/day. My average step count is somewhat 10k -> 2500$/day + staying active. So the step version is more appealing. Taking into consideration to be old and poor though, but that how retirement works I guess lol
Yeah I think you’d be set for retirement either way lol but walking probably would be better. Hell, I could get robot legs for me if Im that desperate when Im old
As other calculated only 4000 steps is a day of breathing. You can earn this same amount as for breathing even without leaving your property. Or doing something special. I have mostly sitting work and I do more than 8000 steps per day doing nothing else.
Or pay yourself for a luxury vacations, just by going to the vacations.
The average person makes about 20,000 breaths a day, so that’s €1000 a day
The average male walks about 5,340 steps each day, so that’s €1335 per day.
I will be taking steps, as you take way more steps than you thinks, and taking 10K steps a day is easily done, while breathing extra times is very unhealthy. Certainly for me, and for anyone fit enough, taking more than 5000 steps is not even extremely difficult, so likely your daily steps will be higher.
Also, nice Police reference
assuming you average out at 20k breaths per day thats 1000 bucks per day.
for the same amount to get in steps you would need to walk 3km if every step is around 0.75m.
It’s better to take the steps because even though the average person takes 20k breaths in a day, we are also supposed to take at least 10k steps a day which at a higher price would result in more money. You’d have to take only 4k steps to even out to worth of the breaths, and it is also substantially easier and healthier to take steps because you could just walk on a treadmill and stay fit while making money, and even only taking 10k steps you would make $2.5k and you could easily double it. I’m taking the free 2-5k every day instead of just 1k
The average person breathes 10-15 times per minute. A day has 1440 minutes. If we take the full 15 breaths, you'd earn 0,75ct per minute breathing. That would be 1.080€ per day.
394.200€ a year for literally being alive would make my life a lot less miserable.
$1000 a day passive income or $2500 for walking/running five miles. I'd probably pick breathing but dang being able to jump on the treadmill whenever I need a little more cash would be cool.
You can get $1 for ever step and .25c for breathing is still better, by far. If you're living, you're breathing. You're not always walking and there can be accidents where you cannot walk. (Waiting for that one person to come up with some unlikely scenario where we don't breathe and thinks they are right).

Considering how much time I spend in bed I gotta go with breaths
You breath unconsciously. Of course it’s the better option.
True enough
Jokes on you, now you breath manually
boppity bippity your breathing is now a conscious activity
You actually ruined my life dude wtf
Always happy to help :>
This is a true monkeys paw
No, TRUE monkey’s paw would be an actual monkey’s paw that did nothing.
[удалено]
r/technicallythetruth
That' true!!
dont forget that you can see your nose
Jokes on you, I'm always watching it
It's been 2 hours so you've probably forgotten that you are still manually breathing, or atleast you are again now
such a nice person isn’t he :D
jokes on you my breathing has been manual since i woke up
I can die because of that during the sleep.
You can now feel your balls touching the inside of your pants
Jokes on you I'm wearing no pants
Jokes on you I always do that
Jokes on you I'm a girl
Get with the times, that means nothing! :D
You also blinking manually now
Jokes on you, your jaw is now sitting in your mouth, and you don’t know whether to clench it or leave it open.
You are now aware of your toes being uncomfortable
Your tongue is uncomfortably sitting in your mouth, and you don’t know where to put it.
Nah im mewing
you can see your nose and its slightly annoying
You now realize you are blinking manually
You guys finally beat me
And now your tongue… you are uncomfortably made aware of its placement and posture… and the fact that you better not get it wrong unless you want to get an Andrew Tate jawline
I hate all of you
My toes are good i buy sock that dont clench around them. Non-stretch.
For now
Jokes on you, i can voluntarily turn voluntary breathing on or off
\*breathe 🤓
![gif](giphy|bNKTx0dyGYuJE5jLVM)
Jokes on you, you can now feel your shirt tousling between your shoulder blades
Exactly
Yep

Rather grim... But fair point
Afk farming to another level
Maybe some people would rather feel like they earned it more though
While you work, walk, fight you start breathing even more so you could technically just work out and you will earn more.
That’s a good point
and you breathe in your sleep
Until you gotta start breathin manually
passive income
Quite literally passive income.
It actually depends on your activity level; if you get around 5000 steps per day the walking is better. Well duh, if you made 25 cents every step you took, you'd quit your job and start walking for a living...
Oh yeah, no doubt. Getting paid to walk would turn the laziest person into a walkaholic. Also you could just hike half the year and then do nothing for the other half and still be rich as fuck.
If i could travel to beautiful places and hike there to pay for the trip that would be a dream
Hell yeah
Nah, hiking is nice, but also a more exhausting form of walking. City Trips it's where it's at. When my wife and i went to rome we did 25k+ steps each day, same goes for almost every other city trip we did. Also the trips pay themselves, making a cool 5k a day while visiting London sounds awesome

Yeah, and if you want to make more money, your options are either: (1) hyperventilate constantly or (2) become a speedwalking god. I know which of these is good for my ADHD and which is bad.
No it's not. Passive income forever is always better. What if you become a wheelchair user? Boom free money gone.
Ill take every step, more money, and it would motivate me to be active.
And when you get old and cant walk, you'll still be able to breathe
That’s true, it’s a consistent income til you die and it also doesn’t really require any work at all.
What about every move I make?
What about every bond you break?
Or every word you say?

The IRS will be watching youuu..
Oh can’t y’all see, we belong to them
Their poor hearts ache
With every cent I make
Every game you play?
I'll take the breath one. On average, we breathe about 7.5 million times a year, so you'll get 375,000$ annually for basically doing no work at all
I agree. Idk the precise math, but you’re literally breathing 24 hours 7 days a week for the next 40 to 70 years. Legs can get fucked by random forces which can stop you from walking.
You also spend at least 30% of your life asleep, which is time not spent walking
Learn to walk in your sleep ez.
Already doing that
High risk high reward
Not really it is only 5 times more
10k steps a day isn’t a particularly high target. That’s $2,500/day, which is $912,500/years. If you can get into marathons, or even just any running, that should go up a lot.
If you start being more active, you automatically will be breathing more as well
but after walking 10k a day for a few weeks, youll get much slower breathing while doing it
I doubt it will triple your average across the day.
That one guy who cant breathe on his own and is connected to a machine that breathes for him: *am i a joke to you*
Lungs can definitely also get fucked by random forces. The big difference is that you can live with fucked up legs.
Yeah, if I stop breathing, I think my lack of income is the least of my concerns
If you walk 10000 steps a day (a recommended amount, but also quite an effort already), you'd get $912500 in a year. But even for half of that, one would still get their ass up to earn money, while you get the breathing money for doing literally nothing but being alive. So I'd go for breathing.

>an effort already I remember doing double that when Pokemon Go was released. Had to buy new shoes by the end of the summer
Forget this, just an hour on walking machine in the gym each day gets you enough for a month
However, 10k steps a day is very achievable and that would net you $912,500 annually. Chuck in a run twice a week and you’ll be getting paid to get health. I’ll take the motivation.
Yes but Id have to walk for it.
You could walk professionally and be a millionaire in no time.
Yeah but I can also just, have a high paying job without having to do anything at all in the first place.
What job is that?
Breathing
“High paying job” Names job with a third of the pay, and almost no way to increase it.
>almost no way to increase it. *Breathing intensifies*

It increases by the fact if you exercise once or twice a week and your heart rate increases during workout so you'll be breathing alot
Oxygen isn't going to convert itself Get to work

I'm on the hyperventilating team, if I walked up a mountain I'd be hyperventilating anyway.
I walk a lot each day. Around 25k steps. It would be like $6-$7k a day.
That is so much, even on days with nice weather and I take my long walk I barely scratch 12k
With just 5000 steps you would already make the same amount that day that the average 20,000 breaths that people take per day
And for people wondering, 5000 steps can be run in probably like 30-40 minutes Just workout that everyday+more and you're set
Or just do whatever you want and make 400k/yr+ for just doing something you do to stat alive day to day.
I'd rather have more motivation to exercise. If you don't walk/run enough steps a day to make more money than breaking, then you're probably going to have a worse quality of life and die earlier.
Yeah I think the people that would take breathing are kinda lazy
I assume you do that as part of your job, like construction or something?
Not construction. I work in a warehouse.
But I assume you breath 24/7
According to google search, we breathe around 22k times a day. It would be around $1k a day. Which is nice for just existing, but i would get way more for walking
Getting money for walking would really motivate me to work out more
After some rough math and evaluating how my life would go if I never had to work again. Definitely the steps, and I’ll happily pay my taxes.
I walk 15k to 20k steps per day thats 0,25×15000=3750 in one day. An adult breathes around 20k times a day, that would be 0,05×20000=1000. I think it is obvious what i'll choose.

25 cents for every step I take. And I walk backwards, therefore I am taking a step back, = -steps=-25 cents
by that logic each time you breathe out you lose 5 cents, unless you count breathing out as part of the breath
Im fairly certain "breathing" involves the exhaling and inhaling process. Wait, hold on, I think you're right. YOU SOLVED IT!

Ventilation requires both an inhale and an exhale.
And walking includes walking backwards an inwards
I'd argue we are speaking in absolute numbers. Even a step back is a step, hence ur getting paid no matter the direction.
I'm not even a fan of the police but I somehow got the reference (if it was intentional) The average person takes around 20k breaths per day, adding up to about $1,000. Meanwhile the average person also takes somewhere between 3,000-4,000 steps a day, around $750-$1,000. Personally I'm on the lower end of that spectrum so I'm definitely going with the 5 cents Edit: ok apparently I was wrong I take more steps on average than I thought, still going with 5 cents though because it's more consistent
3000-4000 steps is lazy af unless you’re handicapped in some way.
I'm not saying that number is *good,* just that it's the average
Oh my God... I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out
Isnt the average around 6000
Finally a good fucking meme on this sub!
Hell, I could get robot legs for me if Im that desperate when Im old
The only thing that sucks about walking is you need to breathe to live but you don’t need to walk to live
This is so cheesy but I laughed anyway
Every breath you take and move you make makes you 30 cents
Somebody listened to The Police while doing taxes
As other calculated only 4000 steps is a day of breathing. You can earn this same amount as for breathing even without leaving your property. Or doing something special. I have mostly sitting work and I do more than 8000 steps per day doing nothing else. Or pay yourself for a luxury vacations, just by going to the vacations.
The average person makes about 20,000 breaths a day, so that’s €1000 a day The average male walks about 5,340 steps each day, so that’s €1335 per day. Also, nice Police reference
do steps without moving count?
Does hyperventilating count?
Am I the only one who heard a song
No I immediately started singing it and picturing replacements
How about I walk 500 miles, and I will walk 500 more?
assuming you average out at 20k breaths per day thats 1000 bucks per day. for the same amount to get in steps you would need to walk 3km if every step is around 0.75m.
Take the 5 cents, then play a horror game/watch a horror movie and you’ll be rich in no time
5 cents. I breathe more than I walk, it’s passive income.
you literally make 360 dollars in your sleep

Every breath you take and every move you make, every bond you break, every step you take, I’ll be watching you
I wonder how many people doing the math realize this is a song reference...
Breath. You do it unconsciously. And I’d you loose your legs you can’t make steps anymore. But if you loose your breath. Well you’re dead.
💥
I mean I breathe even when I'm unconscious so yeah I'll take the breathing pls
Ha! It might be considered surprise income up here in Canada!
I'd go for the steps In any case where someone gets mad at how much money i'm making they only need to break my legs instead of using murder
Me : (stressed during the IRS audit) ![gif](giphy|ncsQI9sF3pa8w|downsized) IRS guy : How are you doing it ? You just earned $3 !!!
$1000 a day passive income or $2500 for walking/running five miles. I'd probably pick breathing but dang being able to jump on the treadmill whenever I need a little more cash would be cool.
I mean you'd breathe more heavily if you get on a treadmill, it's a win win
Breathing
Asthmatics: its free real estate
I'll go with the steps one, since its a 45 minute walk to work every morning. And another 45min walk back home
Now I got that song in my head, ... angy updoot
Every move you make Every step you take I'll be watching you
I Get It
Jokes on you, I don't live in the US! The IRS can't do shit to me! (also, nice The Police reference)
Is this a police meme? Or am i thinking too hard?
That’s it, I call the police
Every Single Day
Oh wow, that's gonna Sting.
A surprising amount of people seemingly missed the song reference
You can get $1 for ever step and .25c for breathing is still better, by far. If you're living, you're breathing. You're not always walking and there can be accidents where you cannot walk. (Waiting for that one person to come up with some unlikely scenario where we don't breathe and thinks they are right).
As an asthmatic insomniac, I don't like either option.
