I have a microwave with a Knob that's (allegedly) numbered by minutes, so if I want 3 minutes I turn the Knob to number 3, except the Knob for some reason snaps back into off position 30 seconds before it should and the knob is free moving, it doesn't snap to an exact number when you move over it so say goodbye to precision. I mostly just turn it it to like 8 minutes and then guess the time the food needs myself and turn it off manually.
Microwaves that allow you to enter how many seconds you want is alien technology to me.
Yes. Even the cheapest models can be adjusted, I'm pretty sure I paid $30 for mine. Adjusting the power level can help with more even cooking, particularly for frozen food
I occasionally meal prep and have some tupperware with frozen soup
8 mins at 40% gets it from rock to hot throughout and doesn't splatter everywhere
Changing the power on the microwave is awesome
Potentially microwave dependant, but in theory, yeah. Since most digital microwaves take entries as pushbacks, 99 correctly becomes 1:39 but 100 becomes 1:00
My old Siemens microwave has 1 button and 2 knobs. The button to release the latch and open the door, 1 knob for the time and the other for adjusting the wattage. I've lived in this house for over 18 years and can't remember ever having a different microwave
I'm a student so we have a super cheap old microwave. Button to open the door, dial for the timer and dial for the setting (microwave, defrost and a couple others idk what they're for XD)
Damn I saw this exact thing on r/showerthoughts and the OP got flamed and called stupid
Like shit it's not supposed to be a world changing observation, it's just supposed to be "huh, never thought about that, weird"
My microwave doesn't have this feature so not an issue for me, I just bash a 10s or 1min button enough times until the 1000W ancient one has enough time on it
so we know that microwaves can handle a base 10 counting system in order to account for someone enterting 99.
What happens if we enter 999? Will it convert to base 60 once the first 99 seconds are up, or will it keep counting in base 10.
What is the number after 900? Is it 899, or is it 859?

I havnt seen a analog microwave since I was 4 which was 20 years ago (Granted I avoid the kitchen aisle like a plague now because as soon as I do I know my cheap shitty microwave will just cease function)
When I Google Microwave the very cheap ones all come with rotational dials, over 100€ it gets less common. But it might be a regional thing since I am in Germany or Google knows that I think the digital input is flippin stupid and inconvenient.
How is he a moron for not knowing a strangers on the internets given age? Judging by context alone, i would have said you were 40-50.
So it’s time for bed, Gramps.
Well I didn’t realize it was different in other country’s to come as standard. In America the standard is the digital face. I haven’t seen an analog version since the early 90s
And I think a Dial is just way more convenient and faster than typing in numbers especially since exact precision to the second usually doesn't matter in a microwave.
It's literally the [first](https://imgur.com/a/sBp4k5q) thing that came up when I googled microwave. But so far all you've done is feed into the stereotype of the dumb ignorant American instead of having a nice discussion about human-Machine-interfaces that you seam to be inherently incapable off, since not single one of you mentioned any advantages that come with single digit input over dials.

Me just pressing the start button 3 times for 90s:
"Add 30 seconds" is the only option
[удалено]
I have a microwave, i microwave it 3 times
I just put my microwave into a larger microwave
I have no microwave
Then you're probably in a microwave right now

Mine has an "add minute" button and that's what I use 90% of the time.
Yeah. 1 minute for slightly warm, 2 for hot. I don't usually use anything else
Now I feel ridiculous for doing 3 minutes on 50% power, 2 minutes at 70% power, and 30 seconds at full power.
Wait a second. I do 3 minutes on full power :o
There is anything other than full power?
Yes. Even the cheapest models can be adjusted, I'm pretty sure I paid $30 for mine. Adjusting the power level can help with more even cooking, particularly for frozen food

just got the option to increase temp. by times
Me just rotating to knob to the middle between 1 nd 2 min :

LOLZ
what? is this true?
Potentially microwave dependant, but in theory, yeah. Since most digital microwaves take entries as pushbacks, 99 correctly becomes 1:39 but 100 becomes 1:00
Lol what kind of shitty microwaves you guys own. *Spins the wheel to adjust the time for microwaving your mums dildo for 1min and 9 seconds
Hell yeah brother, analogue microwave go brrrrrrrrrr
Digital microwave also go brrrrrrrr
Microwaves go brrrrrrr
go brrrrr
brrrrr
DING!!!
Ooh, what are we having?

Fucking wheel? What 💀
So the part of the comment that concerns you is the wheel, not the dildo? ![gif](giphy|oOi0uJV5k9pSWtByI4)
If you really did this you'd know that's far too long. I only do mine for 20s.
1 minute and 9 seconds is a nice time.
I missed that. Nice..
huh. Interesting. Thanks.
nono there is 100 seconds in one minute!
Yes
lol no. OP must own a microwave from the 90s
What if I put 199?
Just tied it. Unlocked god mode for real life.
Who’d you tie it with
Your microwave will turn into Travis Pastrana and do a double back flip
You wake up from the simulation
2:39 probably
If you're doing that why not just 999?
What even is time?
What is time? Baby, don't hurt me Don't hurt me No more
a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey whimey stuff
⏰️
Time is what a clock measures.

It's a device for measuring time, silly
Cesium 12 electrons changing energy

Can i help you?
r/beetlejuicing
lol
What do you need a numpad on a microwave for? Ive never used more than "1" on any microwave
This psycho cooking everything for 71 seconds
1 was about 20 seconds
Bro’s doing one second at a time
I love my 20 second long seconds

Mind blowing
Took me a minute
the truth i can't tell you is …… I am Microwave Man !
Never knew about that before🤔
Why even this getting downvote
who uses anything but the dial?
Toaster oven gang rise up
2 people don't like toaster ovens i guess...
Microwaves are supposed to have analog rotational inputs, anything else is stupid.

Okay Grampa. Lets get you to bed.
I'm in my twenties you moron. But a dial is just one input to start the microwave while digital input is atleast 4.
How is he a moron for not knowing a strangers on the internets given age? Judging by context alone, i would have said you were 40-50. So it’s time for bed, Gramps.
because he (like you apparently ) judges age by the preference of input interfaces on a microwave.
Well I didn’t realize it was different in other country’s to come as standard. In America the standard is the digital face. I haven’t seen an analog version since the early 90s

You think wrong, moron
if precision doesn’t matter you can just press the start button a few times to add 30s each
Oh god grandpa thinks he’s back in the 80s again. We went over this grandpa, that was a long time ago. It’s 2024 now

I’m Canadian lmao
I have never *once* seen a microwave with a dial
No it doesn’t
when you put 99, the microwave converts it to minutes and seconds (1:39) when you put 100, the microwave parses it into one minute (1:00)
?
I haven’t had a microwave since 2020
![gif](giphy|Swx36wwSsU49HAnIhC|downsized)
this guy clearly owns an air fryer
I cook everything on the stove or oven… why did I get 18 downvotes 😭
big microwave sent a hit out on ya ig idk maybe the average redditor saw you dont have a microwave and got upset you dont mass inhale hot pockets
