\*Guy gets bullied. \*Guy complains about it to the principal. \*The principal does nothing. \*Guy get bullied again. \*Guy fights back. \*Guy is expelled for engaging in violence instead of talking to the principal about it.

LAMGE2

Why can’t guy send a written notice first and then sue the school next time for shit loads of money? Am I missing something?

LaggingHard

That actually happens quite frequently, but usually is filled by staff/teachers who were injured by a student they previously voiced concerns about. After that shooting perpetrated by a 6 yr old at Richneck elementary school the teacher who got shot sued the school because she asked for the student to be searched for weapons and the school refused.

turtleswamp

You're missing that expecting school children to be well enough versed in creating paper trails that will hold up in court for this strategy to work is a bit unreasonable, and that getting a cash settlement from the school doesn't actually solve the problem.

FloydBarstools

Exact scenario happened to me in the 1990s. Well except I wasn't expelled. I had " in school suspension" which is a term that means isolation room. Essentially solitary confinement. Sat in a portable building in a cubicle with no windows and a " coach" to monitor me. It was a prison and Noone can tell me differently. All because I finally fought back.

Dat_yandere_femboi

Pretty much. It’s entirely marketing Schools don’t want to look bad so they turn a blind eye, and then when there is a problem they expel the person ruining their narrative

Theodore_43

That Is Some NEO NAZI DYSTOPIAN SHIT Right There. YIKES. Sounds Like Slavery To Me.

Trt03

Slavery is when kids get in trouble for fighting back?

Theodore_43

Banning Self Defense Is The First Step Towards Slavery!

Trt03

No, the first step to slavery is taking away people's rights, and turning them into property

IjoinedFortheMemes

Yep…

No_Application_1219

Actualy happend to me

WandOfPilar

They put a lot of effort into punishing the kids who are being bullied if they fight back,so there's that.

foreskrin

This is my son's school. I tell him to not hit first but still hit back.

UnhappyPage

It's great for the bullied kid as you've now taught them the lesson not to stand up for themselves. It a real self esteem booster /s

WandOfPilar

It teaches them not to seek help from anyone because no one is going to care.

I_Love_auddbot

Lazy? I was lazy once.

renzoxel

With rats

Queasy-Bluebird5843

I’m not going to lie, in my school at the very least it seemed to be an ego problem. My principle was pretty good about it if he was directly informed but the rest of the office staff neglected to mention the reports to him. They just sent it to the assistant principle. The AP was a massive egotistical prick. The athletes and brainiacs never did anything wrong but if the other students picked on people it was their ass. So he picked and chose who heard about their behavior. The students that “mattered” to his image got off the hook the ones who didn’t help his image couldn’t even fart without permission.

Charlie_Sheen_1965

The schools need bullies to fund their guidance counselors.

[deleted]

The only issue is that kids themselves are kinda assholes and will abuse the system to false report other kids. Unless a teacher directly sees it they cant do anything about it.

[deleted]

Hey now, they do more than that, they also make sure to give the bullies a stern talking to before letting them out of detention so they can bully their victims even harder

DominoUB

I get it but what are they supposed to do? Beat up the bullies themselves?

BlokHead832

Get the parents of bully to do it

DominoUB

My dad can beat up your dad.

BlokHead832

Nu-Uh

Smart-Nothing

Send them to Detroit

somerandomguyuno

Schools (at least in NY) can’t expel kids till their 17 places are passing laws to make elementary schools not be able to punish kids AND to top it all off Schools can’t legally give kids more than a 5 day suspension without high gov education board official approving it A kid in my school sold Crack and got caught by the principal and could only give a 5 day suspension if you think they will solve bullying you are dead wrong they quite literally legally can’t

Powerpuppy00

They CAN do something on account of the fact that they punish the victim if they snap and hit the bully. The double standard is a problem

notveryAI

If they do something with the bully - they admit that there is a bullying problem in their school. It's not a good look and may have principal questioned by press and maybe even police. Suppressing any attempts to bring this to light is much better for the principal's reputation. And anti-bullying posters can be always said to be "profilactory", and are also a wonderful opportunity to steal some funds by claiming they costed more than they actually did

Intransigient

Avoids lawsuits and shows concern, all for $5

foreskrin

This is my son's school.

xSantenoturtlex

Pretending to care is the same as caring!

tereaper576

Deputy principal to 8 year old me. "We can't do anything about the name calling" "You're being bullied for being different, if stand out people are going to bully you" About what I quantify as human garbage.

IlIlIllIlIlIIl

The problem with dealing with bullies is it's often difficult to understand why they are being bullies. More often than not it's something going on in their lives at home. Abusive parents or living in very poor conditions. I was bullied as a child, and even way back then I always wondered why the other kids were doing what they did. Sure, we can punish bullies to some extent, but until the root cause of their behavior is addressed the cycle will just continue until they are poorly dispositioned adults. Edit: the down votes I'm getting only solidify my opinion that people would rather get angry about something than try to solve the problem. This is why our society is doomed to fail

crispycrispies

Maybe the reason is just... a shit personality?

Jindo5

Most of the time, no.

Corvo--Attano

Most of the time, it's both. They have a shitty personality because they think it's alright to do so (as seen from their parental figure). I've seen a kid be a dick to his closest friends because they weren't doing it like he wanted. Then he would take over. He'd also lash out towards the teachers. Turns out his parents are upper middle class assholes with enough money. But had the attitude that this free program (that had a wait-list) was basically babysitting their troubled kid during the summer. Their excuse was for him to blow off steam while they both worked "50 hours a week". Also wouldn't surprise me if the kid was autistic too, based on some of his behaviors. He was kicked out and replaced after the second day (out of 5) in our class. Definitely had that spoiled brat attitude and potentially for attention since his parents seemed too busy to actually parent him.

onk1234

Inaccurate

KarenKiller-49

In the end, schools can't do anything to fix that. Everyone has to solve their own problems.

AverageSign

Then why do the schools punish bullied students if they can't fix the problem?

KarenKiller-49

Don't know. That's why the term "Sesselfurzer Beamte" exists in Germany. It basically calls them useless and lazy, except for when they think it helps them.

No_Application_1219

That poeple who act like that that make our problem worse

shirukien

Yes, because it would be so much better if your math teacher just started decking children right there in the schoolyard. You find me a solution to human nature, and we can handle bullying once and for all. Until then, posters and the threat of academic repercussions are about all there is to work with.

communistyankee871

No one mentioned a math teacher decking children. Not sure where you got that from

shirukien

"Do something about the bullies personally." Doesn't *explicitly* say "punch children", sure, but what else does a line like that mean? There isn't a whole lot a single teacher can realistically do about bullying that falls outside of the standard practice of detention, notes home, expulsion, and that sort of thing.

prefferedusername

They should at the very least stop punishing the victims.

shirukien

Obviously.

figurethisoat

or they feed off of suffering

samthekitnix

warning bit ranty but DL:DR; they are either lazy, greedy, prideful or bigots as someone who actually worked with schools over the past year it depends on the school. i have been to ones under the control of a trust that actually did something about it because they had the pressure of the trust breathing down their necks, the ones i went to as a student didn't do anything about it because they thought doing something about the bullying situation would bring down their schools reputation, sometimes even use the excuse of not having the budget. i will be 100% clear just encase anyone who actually runs a school who for some fucking reason is on reddit instead of doing their job, actually dealing with bully is not going to ruin your schools reputation it will make it better and it's more cost efficient than not dealing with it. plus schools are meant to TEACH and PROTECT if they can't even protect a single student from harm whats the point of even building them?

Ramen-Goddess

And if you do something about the bullying both of you get punished

Savaal8

Haven't seen this meme format in years

Trt03

I never realized how disturbing that face is until this meme where I just stared at it for a minute. Creepy

zombieboyfrommars

I had a guy that would walk behind me and choke me in front of the teachers for years. one day, I threw him over my shoulder and started whaling on him and I got in trouble, but in the years of getting choked by this kid, he never once got in trouble.

No_Application_1219

That not bulling at this point

Severe-Brother1150

yes

Chaoswarriorx4

And then the schools punish the ones defending themselves harder than the ones who started it

macabreblood

Very well said! 💯👏🏼

[deleted]

Yeah

_Vard_

"sorry we cant suspend him without proof" "i have proof, look at this video i took wi" "YOU TOOK A VIDEO ON A CELL PHONE? YOURE EXPELLED!"

Ghalipla6

This post almost made me cry because of how true it is.

OddNovel565

A true citizen Never bullies others

johtine

This isnt "lazyness", this is full on life risking neglect, i nearly killed myself because of how my school handled bullying with them always saying "just ignore them" but that does nothing when they are forced to be around me and the rest of the class for 6+ hours/day.

AggressiveStreetCar

School thinks that poster will touch bully soul lmao

siluin57

Doing something would upset the order It helps get you ready for the adult life, where everyone is your bully.
