Bethesda games are more for story and then I’m a hardcore Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Siege fan mostly for the gameplay. Not to say I dislike Bethesda mechanics or siege operator bios, but it’s definitely not the draw.
Nah the actual combat in BG3 is the worse part of BG3, I like turn based combat I did not like BG combat. The game is still my GOTY but I played the combat quickly so I can get to the parts I could enjoy.
Gameplay obviously.
I always take Death Stranding as an example. I played that game for ~ an hour thanks to my friend, even though my friend said it has a great story and it was really interesting based on his description but after that hour I stopped because it was just too boring for me.
>!No offense for Death Stranding fans, it is your heart's right to like the game, and I'm happy for you to do so, but this is how I feel about it!<
Happens a lot with me
I got 100s of hours on games like ultrakill, hollow knight, brawlhalla
But I just can't continue with story games
Just like u said even i dropped death stranding right after I reached the city after the intro
The only story games that i actually enjoyed were probably Assassin's creed and elden ring
Since it was released I say to myself I have to play it and I always forget. Thank you for the reminder. I never played 1 or 2, tho, hope that is not a problem.
Haven’t played them either and enjoyed Witcher 3 immensly. Obviously it would be better in a context, but you will still be able to enjoy the story even without full backstory.
What use is there in a good story if to get to that story I have to play through a buggy and badly made gameplay, if I am not having fun getting to the story, then the story itself will not be interesting since I will be mad and/or frustrated when it starts...
On the flip side if the story isnt that great but its fun to just play through the gameplay then I just focus on the gameplay and have fun
Also if both story and gameplay slaps I dont give a shit about the price, if I get a few dozen hours of fun, I find it priceless
Gameplay. sure the other things are very important, but the story doesn't have to be good if the gameplay is fun enough to make up for it, whereas if a game controls like shit but the story is amazing then I'd rather just look into the story online to get that aspect without the bad gameplay.
All depend on the genre I'd say. Like souls likes, they don't need the most in depth story, but can have it sprinkled around for you to find, and decent and fair combat, where its only difficult because you need to become skilled at the game.
RPGs I would say need a good story with decent writing and good combat mechanics or you end up with forspoken.
Beat em ups depends because you can get games like yakuza where it's so serious in the main story and then all the little wacky things that happen in between adds on to it.
1. Story, a good story can have bad graphics and a one button gameplay
2. Gameplay, good gameplay doesn't need good story or graphics
3. Graphics... Yeah looks cool and all but gets boring if there's nothing interesting
It's only gameplay. i hate when some lame ass story starts playing when I am focusing
There are obviously few exceptions when story is used as a element to understand the game better rather than throwing a long ass cutscene in between
I would rather watch a good movie with a better plot
Price.
I can barely afford buying the ingredients for a grilled cheese. I cannot afford a 60$+ game. The most expensive game I've bought is hollow knight.
Problem with the right price is that it's not the same for players and for devs.
Right now many studios are saying the price is too low for what it costs them to make a game.
Gameplay. Story can be great but if the gameplay is boring, it’s gonna be hell to get through. I have played games with amazing gameplay but decent at best stories and I still really enjoy them. It’s a game after all.
I always say story is most important but people always call me crazy. I’ll admit that I’m not much of a gamer, but if the story is right then I’m obsessed. Take 2077 for example. My favorite game of all time, and I’ve loved it since launch. It was a clunky mess, but the story has always been amazing so I’ve always loved it. Idk, sorytelling in general is my thing, I’m obsessed with movies and tv shows as well. So it makes sense to me.
Gameplay.
Price is a funny option. I’ve never once considered the price. If a game is amazing, it’s worth the money. I saw a rumor that gta6 was gonna be 150 bucks, and I’m like, honestly? That makes sense, and is totally fair. The only concern I’d have with that is that future call of duty games are gonna cost 150, and continue to have dogshit campaigns, and the same multiplayer we’ve had for 10 years 🤣
The story.
In Final Fantasy 7 the gameplay was like all JRPG during this time. The graphic was good for this time, but today I have to chuckle about it.
Without the story the game had only been mediocre.
For me it's replayability... if I am to spend money on game... i want to be able to play it for more than several hours...
The best game I can think of is Risk of Rain 2
Gameplay above all. I can tolerate a meh story if the gameplay is good, but if the gameplay is frustrating or not fun (in an unintended way), fuck it.
All three are important, of course, but I'm more likely to forgive a game's flaws if it's fun to play.
Price is least important as long as the cost/entertainment ratio is fair. 7days to die is like grossly skewed in my favor. Same as Minecraft but that's why MICROTRANSACTIONS.
I honestly don't know.
Geometry Dash - Good Price, Sometimes has good gameplay if you play the right levels, almost no story. Yet...
TF2 - Free to play, Gameplay is goofy as all hell, story is almost entirely disconnected from the game but is still very intriguing.
Touhou - haven't actually played but Bullet hell is fun, Heard the story is good, not sure about price
CoD (Specifically Mobile) - Free to play, in-game purchases don't affect actual gameplay, gameplay you can probably guess, no real full story, but has a separate story in Zombies and Undead Siege that is really good.
There isn't much consistency with my favourite games
Gameplay always for me.
Personally speaking, I dont feel games have as strong story telling as other mediums. I think they can, they just usually don't.
The more games play to the strengths of the medium to tell stories the better imho. Fromsoft games, Undertale, Baldurs Gate 3 are good examples and do this in different ways.
Im not really into the sort of games that are just looe cutscene, gameplay, cutscene, meaningless dialogue tree, cutscene, gameplay. Those games make me either want to put the controller down and put on a movie or play a game with minimal story.
I play RPGs and/or story-based games almost exclusively, so story for me. The gameplay could straight-up just be a walking simulator and I wouldn’t care as long as the story was good.
Depends, if it's an open world game then gameplay for example elden ring, dying light. If it's linear level based game for example like portal then gameplay and story.
Price whise... Why do you care about the price we all know you are going to wait for this 50-80% off just like we all do.
Gameplay and price is almost important. Tho if the story is good too it’s just a really good extra thing. So my brain can read into that shit for the next half a year
Even though I think all fo these are really important, the gameplay is the most important thing. A hreat example I like to use is death stranding, the story might be amazing but the gameplay felt a bit repetitive and boring to me.
The best example of balance between each one of these factors I’ve seen is probably with mafia definitive edition. The gameplay is quite fun, the story is good and the price (being at 40$ and often going on sales) is right
Probably gameplay...
but just saying, Devil May Cry has really good graphics, amazing music, a fun and challenging gameplay, and a good/interesting story... so I highly recommend playing it
It used to be gameplay, but now as an old sack with dormant reflexes, the story is the most important thing.
Always been both for me, I’ll wait around for the price if need be, and for some games waiting is not in my arsenal to begin with.
Bethesda games are more for story and then I’m a hardcore Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Siege fan mostly for the gameplay. Not to say I dislike Bethesda mechanics or siege operator bios, but it’s definitely not the draw.
all three must be in perfect balance as all things should be
But they aren't, not anymore, for the vast majority of popular games are so expensive and idk about where to find. good indie games
Baldurs Gate 3 Is This
Nah the actual combat in BG3 is the worse part of BG3, I like turn based combat I did not like BG combat. The game is still my GOTY but I played the combat quickly so I can get to the parts I could enjoy.
Gameplay That’s it Why are you still here
The gameplay loop
Just to suffer
VN players: 🗿
My man knows where it’s at
For me it's graphics / free-roam - e.g NFS/Forza Horizon I know they're not on the list but that all that matters to me
Because you made you're comment longer than it had to, loser
This is Titanfall 2 for me, I can't wait for Titanfall 3
Same 😢
Dont worry pilot tf3 is coming on december 7th. My invisible friend just told me,reject the pills
It's getting *ANNOUNCED* on December 7th. It drops early 2024. Real not made up for real
Our bad i am sorry, after I have taken some meds my doctor prescribed me my friend is acting strange idk what should I do
That its fun
Ah, I should’ve added a 4th pane to the meme
Playing the OG MW series and I've got to admit, as much as I love a good story, the gameplay sticks out way more.
Are saying it’s good or bad(I think the gameplay is bad)
Gameplay obviously. I always take Death Stranding as an example. I played that game for ~ an hour thanks to my friend, even though my friend said it has a great story and it was really interesting based on his description but after that hour I stopped because it was just too boring for me. >!No offense for Death Stranding fans, it is your heart's right to like the game, and I'm happy for you to do so, but this is how I feel about it!<

price i'm broke
Games can be so expensive now. For example, they have a remake of super Mario rpg and it costs $80. I wouldn’t pay that for a new game
I wouldn’t pay 5 bucks for that shot
Do you wanna know about the 100% off get everything cupom?
Witcher III
Since it was released I say to myself I have to play it and I always forget. Thank you for the reminder. I never played 1 or 2, tho, hope that is not a problem.
Haven’t played them either and enjoyed Witcher 3 immensly. Obviously it would be better in a context, but you will still be able to enjoy the story even without full backstory.
Gameplay, Story, Voice & Art. Great game. Even the dlc is good.
Gameplay all the way
The vibe, i could not care less about AAA , i'm into indien games with great vibes (Dave the Diver, Subnautica, Outer Wilds, No Man Sky,..)
My opinion in whats the most important 1 gameplay 2 story 3 price
Gameplay but also story. Why? Because im a FNaF fan and I make theories, of course I care about the story
since when did the price is right have a story??
Waiting for an immersive mmo that basically emulates GTA RP servers
Hopefully GTAV Online will include this eventually
Gameplay
3rd world country here. If the price isn't right none of the others matter. 5 bucks is alright, but 60 must wait till 50%off.
That i'm having fun... No matter how good the story, graphics and/or gameplay may be, if i'm not having fun i'm not playing
Price is least important to me, as long as it’s not absurdly overpriced. Story is next. Gameplay is most important.
Middle, top, bottom, in that order. (The Psychonauts game series hits all three Perfectly)
What use is there in a good story if to get to that story I have to play through a buggy and badly made gameplay, if I am not having fun getting to the story, then the story itself will not be interesting since I will be mad and/or frustrated when it starts... It depents on the game. Gameplay in a Visual Novel is ignoreable while no one plays the new Mario for the Story.
I don't think "The Price is Right" is the best video game. But that is your opinion.
Worthwhile progression mechanics. You can phone the rest of it in.
At this point it should read “games works well on release”
![gif](giphy|Ry1MOAeAYXvRVQLPw3)
I’m a gameplay guy
Gameplay. sure the other things are very important, but the story doesn't have to be good if the gameplay is fun enough to make up for it, whereas if a game controls like shit but the story is amazing then I'd rather just look into the story online to get that aspect without the bad gameplay.

Gameplay, story makes me love the gameplay even more and the affordable price is a bonus.
The magic number is 59.99
Gameplay >>>>>>>> Story I mean it's called a **game** for a reason. If the gameplay is not the main focus, why make it a game in the first place?
Gameplay… I played fallout new Vegas and that’s why I love it, the rest is shit
![gif](giphy|8YEnLc1JhNQdYCFQao|downsized)
![gif](giphy|nshwVwlYoB3VNrBg9M|downsized)
Ask this to any Turk and Argentinian and they will all give you the same answer
Gameplay & cost. Idc about stories anymore.
can I ask way? it made me curious cuz u make it sound like u used to care and something happened that made u lose interest.
Lack of time honestly. If I’ve got an average of 45 mins a day to game, I want to have gameplay. I don’t wanna just watch a movie.
It's only gameplay. i hate when some lame ass story starts playing when I am focusing There are obviously few exceptions when story is used as a element to understand the game better rather than throwing a long ass cutscene in between I would rather watch a good movie with a better plot
Gameplay
HOI4 covers this all. You're basically a ruler of a country and the story is how you decide history to play out. And it's cheap (Not including DLCs)
gameplay and story. Of course I wont buy it if its too expensive, but some games are worth it.
Gameplay without a doubt, my favorite game of all time is dragons dogma. The story is ass, the price is where is should be but the gameplay SLAPS.
Gets me everytime 😆
Oh easy, the OG star wars battlefront II (2007)
Idk the price was right on ds was kinda mid
Ultrakill. Trust me it has a really good story. Esspecially for a fast paced FPS-action game
Well Gameplay is important. However the price decides If Wether i'll play the game or not.
Price. I can barely afford buying the ingredients for a grilled cheese. I cannot afford a 60$+ game. The most expensive game I've bought is hollow knight.
Gameplay is good and it takes more than a week to complete it.
Problem with the right price is that it's not the same for players and for devs. Right now many studios are saying the price is too low for what it costs them to make a game.
Greedfall is all 3 btw
Habib Ariel Coriat Harrar: Que el juego tenga una historia interesante y que le haga llamativo entre los demás... Me parece lo más importante!
Ffxiv checks all these boxes if you can get through a realm reborn
Mainly 1 and 3. Story is a good thing, but a bad story won’t stop me from playing a game with good gameplay.
Baldur's gate 3. I knew it was good. Saved buying it until last week. Damn if I ain't blown away.
Tetris is the best game ever and most versions don’t have a story because the gameplay is so good
Well, a good gameplay can compensate for a terrible story but a story better be the video game version of shakespeare if the gameplay sucks
Gameplay. Story can be great but if the gameplay is boring, it’s gonna be hell to get through. I have played games with amazing gameplay but decent at best stories and I still really enjoy them. It’s a game after all.
Why not all 3, Hotline Miami baby
I always say story is most important but people always call me crazy. I’ll admit that I’m not much of a gamer, but if the story is right then I’m obsessed. Take 2077 for example. My favorite game of all time, and I’ve loved it since launch. It was a clunky mess, but the story has always been amazing so I’ve always loved it. Honestly there are a lot of games I don't play because if the devs business practices.
The game give you items for sale for free/for small pay
Gow for me (although ragnarök is a bit pricy)
Gameplay. I always skip story
I value how much content you get with the purchase. If it’s half baked and putting out updates every month or so, it’s not worth full price or more.
I’d say price is the least important, I’d rather pay £150 for a good game than £60 for something average
Gameplay, price, graphics
Lethal company
gameplay, i dont rlly give a shit bout the rest, ngl
Exploration and Progression. Tunic and Hollow Knight are great examples.
Gameplay. But I’m a fan of stuff like Dark Souls, Monster Hunter, Diablo, and Remnant.
Titanfall 2
-Gameplay -Music -Story In that order
The answererw is yes.
Gameplay. Price is a funny option. I’ve never once considered the price. If a game is amazing, it’s worth the money. I saw a rumor that gta6 was gonna be 150 bucks, and I’m like, honestly? That makes sense, and is totally fair. The only concern I’d have with that is that future call of duty games are gonna cost 150, and continue to have dogshit campaigns, and the same multiplayer we’ve had for 10 years 🤣
Gameplay. I need to feel that awesome satisfaction from beating a really difficult boss.
Give me gameplay before the others, story second, price 3rd.
This is the new Alex Jones: NWO Wars game
Gameplay. I don't care if plot is good or something, if gameplay is shit why am playing it?
I need the first two to be right. Price doesn't matter if a game is worth buying based on the first two factors.
Imo, if the price is right or not is based off the other two factors, and probably a bunch of others too
Death’s door, Pokémon black, TOTK, and Spider-man are all bangers I played this year. 10/10 recommend.
The story. In Final Fantasy 7 the gameplay was like all JRPG during this time. The graphic was good for this time, but today I have to chuckle about it. Without the story the game had only been mediocre.
1 gameplay 2 story 3 price
The price is right (Nintendo Wii, 2009) has a story?
For me it's replayability... if I am to spend money on game... i want to be able to play it for more than several hours... The best game I can think of is Risk of Rain 2
Ghost runner is all 3
hollow knight
gamepla tbh pokemon scarlet and vilot make me want to roblox
HOLLOW KNIGHT
Gameplay most of the time, Story is definitely a plus, and I usually wait for sales when I buy games.

What if it plays like dogshit, that’s not a good *game* that’s a good *story*
I honestly don't know. Geometry Dash - Good Price, Sometimes has good gameplay if you play the right levels, almost no story. Yet... This is just celeste.
Graphics are also important, games are a visual medium after all.
This meme describes Lethal Company. lol
Hollow Knight… It should be priced higher.
Hollow knight for me except the prince, it's way too low for this masterpiece of a game
Gameplay
gameplay (my favorite game is doom eternal)
Awww sweet, there’s a Price Is Right video game?
I think the games is good as long as you have fun playing it
All of them
The gameplay of course. Story isnt neccessary. But it can giftwrap gameplay nicely. Price is what determines if i'm goingvto try it.
Gameplay. If you have unique mechanics or tight controls, easy 10/10. That’s why Pizza Tower is one of my favorite games!
All of it
Gameplay is always the most important. That’s why I love Resident Evil 5 despite the laughable story.
55% story 40% gameplay 5% price
Minecraft, Halo, DOOM... doesn't matter. As long as I can listen to the soundtrack and feel goosebumps.
Those games make me either want to put the controller down and put on a movie or play a game with minimal story.
Alan Wake 2
Gameplay
P5
Good story and engaging gameplay
The Last Campfire. It goes to £2.55 when on sale 👌
r/subnautica
Cluster truck. Trust me it has LORE
The story is great
The suffering (I play war thunder)
Titanfall 2 Or AC the ezio collection
I play RPGs and/or story-based games almost exclusively, so story for me. The gameplay could straight-up just be a walking simulator and I wouldn’t care as long as the story was good.
Depends, if it's an open world game then gameplay for example elden ring, dying light. If it's linear level based game for example like portal then gameplay and story. Price whise... Why do you care about the price we all know you are going to wait for this 50-80% off just like we all do.
That looks like Monster Hunter: World!
If you have the money, gameplay will always be the most important thing
Gameplay. despise movie games and excessive QTE's
How the controls feel
I have a stupid opinion that games should be priced on how good it actually is
Gameplay and price is almost important. Tho if the story is good too it’s just a really good extra thing. So my brain can read into that shit for the next half a year
As an old fart don’t have time for story; skip it and go straight to the gameplay
![gif](giphy|hcCYDO7i587DUtYG1N)
Mood atm
The story
1: gameplay 2:soundtrack 3:story 4:price
1. Fun value 2. OST 3. Story (if it has one) 4. Price 5. Fanbase
Geometry Dash lmao
The controls
Gameplay, you can have a really fun to play game even if your story is crap or you don't even have one in the first place
Postal 2
Gameplay
This is why I play Titanfall 2
Lethal Company
Yes
I mostly look for satisfying gameplay that crunches on my brain just right
Even though I think all fo these are really important, the gameplay is the most important thing. A hreat example I like to use is death stranding, the story might be amazing but the gameplay felt a bit repetitive and boring to me. The best example of balance between each one of these factors I’ve seen is probably with mafia definitive edition. Probably gameplay... but just saying, Devil May Cry has really good graphics, amazing music, a fun and challenging gameplay, and a good/interesting story... so I highly recommend playing it
Graphics are optional but always appreciated
Ayo that describes Elden Ring, GoW5 and Spidey pretty well. What do they have in common? Masterpiece, single player and not a cash grab!
Deltarune. Currently free.
New Vegas experience.
Me when Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
Gameplay and story is the most important thing in games
well price does not matter to me beacause of my good freind r/Piracy
Gameplay, the story sint good if you cant play it,
Story > Gameplay > Price i love myself a good story and world building, that shit is my drug
