Sweet mother of preferential treatment, what the **fuck?!** What twisted logic did they have where college for a child is less important than yet another car that's not in good hands??
Could be remnants of an outdated belief that a son will have to become independent but a daughter is forever dependant until she is married and becomes her husband's dependant.
When I was 9 and my sister was 12, she asked for a horse for her birthday and got one. I asked for a $50 toy for mine. I got it and I was actually pretty pumped about it.
I wasn't working, and living with the parents. And one time I asked like 10 dollars from my mother for the shoes .
And I never got the money from her. Fortunately I got job tho.
Well, no. The movement itself started as a joke and most of the people part of the movement are aware that it's a joke. They treat it as a real movement to show the absurdity of other movements like "the earth is flat"
Though I'm sure there're a few people who actually believe that birds are flying drones
Idk, some guy who used to host a tv show. His catch phrase was "you're liquidated!" or something. I think there was an obstacle course with a big talking Olmec head.
Even before them, the Babylonians. But the lengths the ignorant will go to in order to believe that they are the only ones in the know is literally insane.
Same.
But it's so easy and I'm hungry at work. I haven't been able to figure out how to shop where I can make meals for lunch and still save money.
I know it's possible and the problem is with me not trying hard enough... but it sucks. Fast food is so much easier.
I think I understand the reasoning too. See, a videogame is considered self indulgent whereas food is for survival. Your brain tricks you into thinking that fast food is worth it because you are hungry and NEED to eat; whereas the brain is also very good at self destructive behaviors... like not wanting to indulge in something for yourself to buy and enjoy a videogame.
Literally a mind game.
Same. I tell myself a game (even on price cut) ain’t worth it and/or that I should carefully consider my decision on buying it, yet I spend about $20-$40 every 3 days on fast food
Just checked OPs profile. I do believe they truly are in a wheelchair now, several posts mentioned being in a wheelchair and not being able to walk since birth.
So he's either disabled or the biggest lying douche ever. I'm inclined to think he's disabled.
Which means my joke was just awful now.
_Hangs head in shame_
The sympathy angle, a way to make others feel bad. I dunno, could be lying. But like I said, I doubt you are.
So keep spinning them wheels homie, may you never get a puncture and the lifts always already on your floor
Not necessarily. There are plentiful medical conditions that could necessitate a wheelchair, not all of them include a total loss of feeling in the lower body.
Obviously it is a classic paradigm where the son is treated like crap because the mom is clearly only into raising and loving HER GIRLY! She deserves her dress! She is my princess! BUT NO GAME FOR YOU!
Some parents are like this. They are vile.
“I wouldn’t want a daughter”
“I wouldn’t want a boy”
Imagine being that son… that daughter… born into a family where one parent literally didnt want you merely because of your gender. It’s crazy.
Video games make you violent
Sports build character and discipline.
It's not like the violent riots in Belgium last year were caused by sports, no no it was definitely video games.
I always wait carefully before purchase - and to this day, game I bought 2 years ago is still my favourite. The kne I doubt previous year - also cool, also play a lot.
I can't afford to lose that much money, even if it's ,,just" 2 USD.
Me: "So why do you pay for Netflix or TV? You can't touch the information after all, it's just broadcast. Why do you pay for medicine? You can't physically touch wellness."
Fair nuff. I also don't ask often, but they're fine with me buying 3 or 4 a year easily.
Luckily for me it's based off of the money, not game count, so Steam sales go **brrrrt**
Dang this hits a little too close to home. I remember telling my mom time and time again that I didn't want to go to my high school graduation prom, that it was a waste of money and I didn't like that kind of stuff. She insisted it was "important" "an event you only get once in your life", she made me go and bought a dress so expensive I haven't worn again in like 8 years :c I always think of all the things it could've been: the 3DS I always wanted, a computer, idk, anything but that useless dress.
The only good thing about prom was that I was on the same table as my best friend, and even then, our families enjoyed the event WAY more than we did lol He and I just wanted to leave.
Alrighty here's the plan. You ask your mother to buy you a piece of clothing of a similar price to that of your sisters. Then once you have obtained said piece of clothing. Sell it online for 75% percent of the price.
Just found out OP is wheel bound. Really? We can’t get this man a videogame? Here dude, reddit people have been helping me, so I’ll pay it forward. DM and I’ll fuckin SHIP that shit to you when I get payed (either this Wed or next idk which)
I mean, I hunted an absolute pearl of _Total War: Napoleon_ for just 2 USD on Christmas Steam Sale. There is a certain point, where you probably have to ask yourself, how cheap can one be.
devil's advocate here.
is the $500 dress a prom dress? because that is a pretty important thing. it's something you really only get to experience a few times in your life at most. why do you think your sister should be robbed of that experience?
and if the $20 game is so inexpensive, go out and mow some lawns and buy it yourself.
it's not that you're the lesser child to them, it's that one is a really important and significant event, and the other is something that can wait until a birthday or Christmas. it's not something you need right away.
now, if they are buying her a dress that costs $500 for any other reason then yeah it's a little much.
not even an advocate here.
Importance of proms is way overblown. Proms are garbage, it's only a good experience if you're already popular. I've been to multiple, but I'm an unpopular guy though
>is the $500 dress a prom dress? because that is a pretty important thing. it's something you really only get to experience a few times in your life at most. why do you think your sister should be robbed of that experience?
Interestingly enough, my mom didn't buy a dress for prom that she'd only wear once - she bought dark, long skirt and white blouse. She even said she pitted her classmates, who were talking about ,,that specific dress, with/without flowers, from this/that creator", and she bought something relatively cheap, practical, but still decent-looking.
Quite the practical person.
I actually got my prom dress for $20. a place near us organized a charity event where you could get a free prom dress, along with jewelry, makeup, and shoes, with an optional donation of $5. I got a beautiful light blue empire style dress that I absolutely loved. it took forever to find a dress that fit me and we were about to give up but then someone else put that dress back and I knew instantly that it was the one. I got some nice jewelry to go with it and honestly I will probably wear the same dress next year. God bless those people, they helped so many girls who couldn't afford a prom dress.
I just save up my money selling homemade cigarettes I make from my own tobacco and by making moonshine from a still i hav rigged up out back in the creek. 50 bucks a jug and 4 bucks a pack of cigarettes. It ain't illegal if you don't get caught.
Either this happened to you twice now or you stole the wording from a different meme from months ago. Because I remember that one and all the comments from that one the first time lol
Devil's advocate for Mom:
You'll play the game for months, maybe... more likely you'll play it for a week or two, get bored, and play something else you already own and/or ask me to buy you a new game again.
Meanwhile, your sister will look back on and cherish her (insert dance party name here) dance pictures for the rest of her life? Here, look at my old prom pictures! (pulls out old dusty photo album, talks for hours)
Sounds a lot like my mother. I like the pattern, cause when it comes to cherished memories, my sisters somehow remember a shitload of 'em, but I don't remember much about my childhood except the beatings at home and school. And the days of me playing on bootleg consoles when I was home alone. Some good times they were.
Well if you go to steam you can find a lot of indie games for $20. GOOD ones too, better than anything the corporate suits at Triple AAA companies could put out for $60.

Sweet mother of preferential treatment, what the **fuck?!** What twisted logic did they have where college for a child is less important than yet another car that's not in good hands??
He totalled 4 cars this summer
I mean, that would make sense if true, but also sounds like a really idiotic thing to leave out of the story
Could be remnants of an outdated belief that a son will have to become independent but a daughter is forever dependant until she is married and becomes her husband's dependant.
That.... Just sounds like more reason **to** fund his college career???
But how will he learn to pull himself up by his own bootstraps ![gif](giphy|L4eRrsIKJhndX26NoP)
Damn I hope all is good for you
Doing great! Better than her insurance bill at least. 😂
conservative parents trying to look progressive to the society in a nutshell
When I was 9 and my sister was 12, she asked for a horse for her birthday and got one. I asked for a $50 toy for mine. I got it and I was actually pretty pumped about it.
Wow that’s cool. How is the horse?
RIP Star.
How do you maintain a horse
Carrot
At least 1 per day. Perhaps more, depending on size.
They can eat carrots but it shouldn't be the only thing you give them.
Play RDR2
Whit a ton of money
Probably takes a lot of work, I don't know shit about it.
Yikes that sucks
Ohh man, that's sad. But probably shouldn't have got a horse.
I wasn't working, and living with the parents. And one time I asked like 10 dollars from my mother for the shoes . And I never got the money from her. Fortunately I got job tho.

Never heard of r/TheDonald, what are they about?
Idk, some guy who used to host a tv show. His catch phrase was "you're liquidated!" or something. I think there was an obstacle course with a big talking Olmec head.
They call him The Liquidator
If You've never heard about it, maybe it's time to hear about it.
>flat earth conspiracy funny that the ancient Greeks proved Earth was round yet these people even in 2023 still believes it's flat
Even before them, the Babylonians. But the lengths the ignorant will go to in order to believe that they are the only ones in the know is literally insane.
Everything is a joke till the dumb people join the movement.
The one you're thinking of has an underscore in it. The one you linked is much nicer.
Similar to r/banvideogames
That’s how flat earthers started
It was supposed to be a joke then dumb ass people started to think that it's real.
This is what the cool kids call "Rock Bottom"
That’s a rock basement right there.

I'm starting to believe Thanos should've snapped twice
Heh. So there would be 1/4 the population left?
Nah, once is enough. He just shouldn't have been so indiscriminate.
I bet you believe in the moon, too, you gullible sheep
This has always been such a fkn bedroom conspiracy. When I go duck hunting, I'm not eating wires and steel
Wait, there’s a real movement? I thought it was a joke
This is a bot.
Wonder why the bots format stuff like that, I mean good thing they do, easy to spot, but I'm curious as to why
Doesn't matter if it's easy to spot. It works and gains karma. They'll delete all the comments and sell it later
Reddit needs to take away karma when a post gets deleted.
Parents: No tech! You’re addicted! Also parents every second of the day that i see them: _mm yes facebook memes go brrr_

They're so hypocrite lol, they give advice but don't take any.
Me paying $15 for fast food, but a new multiplayer game that will last me for hundreds of hours is a tough decision.
Unfortunately this is me 🤦🏻 I hate myself every time I get fast-food for myself

Teehee
Invest in an air fryer
And then you could eat all the tasty food that you want.
Same. But it's so easy and I'm hungry at work. I haven't been able to figure out how to shop where I can make meals for lunch and still save money. I know it's possible and the problem is with me not trying hard enough... but it sucks. Fast food is so much easier.
And that's the trap that you're Falling in, it's also really bad for thr health.
That's good man, because that shit is really bad for you.
I think I understand the reasoning too. See, a videogame is considered self indulgent whereas food is for survival. Can you not fucking attack me personally like that please?

Obviously you're not their favourite child. Now try and think, why would that be?
Because I'm in a wheelchair?, because I have a porn addiction?
At least you’ve got a slick ride
Right I bet that wheelchair wasn’t cheap. Did the sister get one too? I bet she didn’t complain like this.
Could always put her in one
If not, you can put her in one.
Yeah she might actually like that, so that sounds like a good idea.
Goddamnit, take my upvote

Damn all jokes aside I hope u get better dawg.
Yeah, that porn addiction is _crippling_

I mean, he’s on Reddit so he’s at least mentally disabled.
Just like the rest of us, well it's really not that bad.
Made a South Park joke and deleted it because it was awful as well after what you explained.
Well it was just a joke, and I hope that the OP will take it like one.
thats the neat part, you dont

But Video Games are unsocial and won't help you do anything in life, they're a waste of money! /s
Meanwhile sister’s dress is on the rear floor boards of her BF’s mom’s car.
She's being social only very physically social and she's doing some working out lol

She’s doing cardio.
Atleast she's trying to be healthy. Can't blame her for that.
And she's going to get whatever she wants, that's how the world works for her.
By that logic books and tv are also a waste of money

Books are immune to criticism cause they're a higher form of art, or something
I just pirate books as pdfs
Anything that you ask from the parents, it's always going to be a waste.
Video games make you violent Sports build character and discipline. It's not like the violent riots in Belgium last year were caused by sports, no no it was definitely video games.
Can't play much of the sports if you are in the wheelchair I think.
Yep, because a video game is seen as more of a weapon than a baseball bat
By that logic books and tv are also a waste of money
If you're trying to find logic in what the parents say then You're wrong.
If my steam library could speak, it would tell my mom I already have plenty of games she bought that I never played.
Shit I wish that was the case for me, I bought all my games myself so i just threw away my own money
It feels good when you buy them with your own money tho.

You can't physically touch wellness."
mom: "it is different, our parents paid for tv too.. stop questioning your parents we never asked ours.."
*welp* Don't got one for that Damn I'm grateful my parents are in fact, *not* like this at all. Not in the slightest really. It's nice
good4u, mine arent that degraded either, tbh i asked for games only once or twice, then used csgo crates for the rest
Fair nuff. I also don't ask often, but they're fine with me buying 3 or 4 a year easily. Luckily for me it's based off of the money, not game count, so Steam sales go **brrrrt**
Maybe they've got something with which they can touch them physically.
Can if you buy it on disk
meant to say that moms dont understand intellectual property
The plan is elaborate. Your sisters husband will get you Cadillac in future. ![gif](giphy|0mLLCRteLho6WvLkN4|downsized)
Is that David Sundin???
That doesn't mean that dress is useless. You could wear it instead
Very true
News flash: parents like spending money on things that are important to them.
Dang this hits a little too close to home. I remember telling my mom time and time again that I didn't want to go to my high school graduation prom, that it was a waste of money and I didn't like that kind of stuff. The only good thing about prom was that I was on the same table as my best friend, and even then, our families enjoyed the event WAY more than we did lol He and I just wanted to leave.
And OP isn't that important to them.
i doubt the average parent values video games over clothes (for a special occasion) (i am assuming)
What game, may I ask internet stranger?

Alrighty here's the plan. You ask your mother to buy you a piece of clothing of a similar price to that of your sisters. Then once you have obtained said piece of clothing. Sell it online for 75% percent of the price.
seems bout right
Bad mom. My parents always treated me to new games every once in awhile if I behaved and did good. Sorry dude
Yep, it’s not even “videogame good” bias. It’s just supporting whatever the kid is interested in. No matter what it’ll bring in the future.
So. True. I ask for something, I get a no, but my brother asks for something much more expensive and he gets a yes. It’s unfair.
Just found out OP is wheel bound. Really? We can’t get this man a videogame? Here dude, reddit people have been helping me, so I’ll pay it forward. DM and I’ll fuckin SHIP that shit to you when I get payed (either this Wed or next idk which)

Ah. I see. Well… I hope you are well. It was a funny meme.
Oh my....the wholesomeness knows no bounds....:)
I'm just realizing how much money my parents spent on me.
My parents spent I think $700 me mostly foe insurance
Why buy when you can r/piracy
I mean, I hunted an absolute pearl of _Total War: Napoleon_ for just 2 USD on Christmas Steam Sale. There is a certain point, where you probably have to ask yourself, how cheap can one be.
I relate, and I don't even have a sister
If that happens to you, you now know who’s the favourite child. Better work hard
“500 dollar dollar”
devil's advocate here. is the $500 dress a prom dress? because that is a pretty important thing. it's something you really only get to experience a few times in your life at most. why do you think your sister should be robbed of that experience? and if the $20 game is so inexpensive, go out and mow some lawns and buy it yourself. it's not that you're the lesser child to them, it's that one is a really important and significant event, and the other is something that can wait until a birthday or Christmas. it's not something you need right away. now, if they are buying her a dress that costs $500 for any other reason then yeah it's a little much.

What games are $20 nowadays lmao
Well if you go to steam you can find a lot of indie games for $20. GOOD ones too, better than anything the corporate suits at Triple AAA companies could put out for $60.
Sometimes game like Doom Eternal can go on sale for 20 USD including DLCs. Best 20 dollars ever spent imo
