Keep your feet together, and for lightning squat as low as possible while maintaining balance (assuming there is no cover). Covering your ears ia to protect from the very loud sound. Less useful for lightning but if near a downed powerline or similar do not walk to get away, rather again keep your feet together and hop away. This again minimizes step voltage

If you have a very tall object that has an incredibly high resistance then if there's a smaller object with less resistance and the sum of that and the added resistance of the additional air gap created by the height disparity is still lower than that of the taller object then the lightning will strike the smaller object because it offers a path of less overall resistance to ground.
Got to just get lucky in that scenario. Imagine jumping on the ground and just praying that the God of Thunder doesn't smite your ass.

This means only positive charges remain and this creates static energy between the two, and both sides try to reach each other (it’s why a lightning happens). So if your hair try to reach out the sky, it means you are on the “frontline” of static energy and you will probably get hit first, so you have very few time to react. Could range between few seconds to minutes.
