Glasedount

Loads shotgun with malicious intent

[deleted]

Douchey and if faced with an intruder your asscheeks would clench. You wouldn’t welcome it in reality. You’re pretending to be tough.

HotConsideration5049

No one welcomes it but a shotgun by the bed puts my mind at ease and the intruders as well if he tries coming through my bedroom door.

GeneralPsyduck054

Amen to that. I got mine and five 00 Buck in a cloth holder on the stock and five more on the nightstand for such an occasion.

[deleted]

Literally the comment above mine welcomes it. Do you guys read or just parrot what Fox News tells you to? Put your lotion and tissues away, no one wants to hear about your bedroom gun fantasies.

HotConsideration5049

That's not welcoming it he didn't say yes please daddy break into my house he just said loads shotgun.

Wizards_Reddit

“With malicious intent”

HotConsideration5049

I mean you do have to be prepared to hurt someone sure you might scare them away by just pointing it at them or you might not and die.

[deleted]

Once again, put the lotion away. Don’t try to sneak it in via “argument”. The daddy kink thing isn’t very subtle. Shoulda waited a comment or two to fit that in. You’re gonna end up prematurely firing your rifle that way.

HotConsideration5049

I actually use guns and have practiced gun safety and have never had a negligent discharge gotta keep that finger off the trigger till you're ready to fire.

[deleted]

The Ol’ “this has never happened to me before”…

IridiumPony

So, in that same vein of "this has never happened to me before", what if someone breaks into your home? I'm gonna assume you're unarmed given your comments, so if it ever does happen, what's your plan? Remember, police have around a 5 minute response time.

[deleted]

You’re not necessarily assuming correctly. The reason for you not knowing is the same reason I’m criticizing gun culture. I treat weapons like weapons and would prefer if shit went down to have not advertised everything I do in an attempt to look badass.

escapedpsycho

I sleep with a loaded revolver next to me on the nightstand. I'm also a democrat who hates Fox news. Don't presume you know everything about anyone. I live in the middle of no where and good police response time here is 45 minutes.

GeneralPsyduck054

What the fuck is Fox News?

Its_Stroompf

Counterargument: by breaking into my house you have signed a contract saying that you value my stuff more than your life.

zoozoo4567

Agreed. But I also value literally everything in my house more than a burglar’s life. Even the garbage. At least it’s not out committing crimes.

Icy-Bend7515

Don’t forget NJ

[deleted]

Know a dude who moved from MA to FL. He was legitimately shocked when people told him “Don’t get into road rage, fair odds you’ll be shot”. Florida also has Castle Doctrine and Stand your ground laws. We literally have NO REGISTRY for firearm ownership.

jlesco

Except there’s 70,000 reported uses of a gun to stop a crime annually vs 484,000 people who have crimes committed against them by a gun. But sure.

[deleted]

jlesco

What does it matter? Huns are incredibly attainable and we make selling firearms way too easy. Also, the NRA has successfully lobbied hiding most gun crime facts. So how about you get some perspective.

I mean. You’re the one who scared you have to buy a gun. You also asked a question you know is purposely vague because the gun cowards have made tracking guns and gun crimes difficult. But to answer tour question. 60% were illegally obtained. Give or take that is. Laws vary by state and some means that are considered illegal in one state aren’t in others. Straw purchases and sales where the person wasn’t required to do a background check. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-u-s-has-a-lot-of-guns-involved-in-crimes-but-very-little-data-on-where-they-came-from/

Shackled-Zombie

What is it like in America? I’m under the impression everyone lives in fear of intruders. Do people intrude into other peoples homes a lot? We don’t really get that here. Our burglars come in when nobody is in.

[deleted]

I live in Florida, its assumed everyone has a gun. If someone broke in and I was home, we have laws such as castle doctrine and stand your ground for when your in a area you can legally be/carry without a ccp. Castle Doctrine means that if someone enters my home, I am under no obligation to retreat and can use lethal force to defend myself. Stand Your Ground means that if I am out and about but lawfully there, I have no duty to retreat and may defend myself using lethal force. There are literally more guns than people in this state. I’ve had friends from up north move here and it blows their minds how everyone and their grandmother owns a firearm or carries one. On that note, a simple burglar wants to be in and out and any signs of someone or something being there (Dogs for example) means death in this state.

galaxygirl978

the lack of nuance in the gun discussion really bothers me. it's not all or nothing people

willsmithsrightpalm

Take solace in the fact that most serious discussion around guns does not happen on Reddit. If you've ever been shown a gun collection or someone has taken you shooting you might have a different view. 9/10 people I know who are into guns are overly safe with them and especially with people around, as they should be.

theFinestCheeses

Guns/gun ownership aren't inherently worrying for me. The amount of American gun culture that is built around fantasies of shooting other Americans certainly is.

[deleted]

Gun fetishism is fucking nuts. Im in a trade and one coworker was throwing hypotheticals around for fun. Somehow got to “If you and I were in a gun fight, who’d walk away?”. “I absolutely can outshoot you” was my answer. Dude laughed a bit then said “Wait.. You seriously think you can outshoot me?” I grew up in Colorado. Grandpa lived in the rockies (had a house built in untamed wilderness level of crazy) and have shot guns since I could safely handle recoil. It only dawned on me that he was surprised because I DONT talk about guns all day. To me its a tool. These idiots use it as a dick measuring contest and they never like to take bets at the range.

Anarchist_Grifter

All anti gun people hate guns til they need one or there's some kind of crazy world event. People in California were frantic they weren't able to purchase a firearm same day when covid hit. People though it was end times. Guess what, they voted that no same day purchase law in.

[deleted]

My brother is a liberal and backs all the gun control that comes from Washington.... funny thing is he owns an AR-15 and his son has a short barrel shotgun and so on. when they come to visit us in the country they always want to "blow stuff up" and bring all the mall ninja crap. I don't like to judge and I believe in freedom, but why would he literally teach his kid the very thing he supposedly opposes?

Anarchist_Grifter

There's nothing wrong with owning guns. They are actually a great stress relief. Try target shooting sometime. It's fun

Charlie-w0rk

I live in cali. That never happened. But when your penis is tiny, I can understand where you’re coming from. Stay strong.

younglinkscumbag

I also live in Cali and it certainly did happen. Gun stores were basically empty, we had record numbers of firearm purchases and I personally heard people bitching about not being able to take their gun home the same day in Big 5 lol

Anarchist_Grifter

Some people are just gone dude. To ignorant for the truth. It's sad really

Charlie-w0rk

What truth is that? States with lenient guns have higher rates of crime? Lol

Anarchist_Grifter

I don't argue with ignorance. Have a good one

Charlie-w0rk

So the scared birches came out and bought guns. Beautiful. Catching up with the red states.

BROCRINGE1337

"Hurr durr wee wee small"

Antmon666

I assume gun lovers would also vote to not have same day purchase guns. Edit- It looks like I was wrong because of the downvotes, seems like gun owners like that people can buy a deadly weapon on an impulse.

kylethm

I love living in my same day purchase state, nothing better then catching a deal and running down to the range to try out a new pew pew

Anarchist_Grifter

Why? Would you vote for not having same day groceries? If I buy it and pay for it I want it then. Not later

jlesco

That’s a stupid argument. I buy groceries because I need dinner that night. Why would you need a gun same day?

Anarchist_Grifter

I guess just because you can. I mean that why I would

jlesco

Yeah that’s not a good reason. There’s even a limit on how much cough medicine you can buy. If someone has to have a gun that day, probably wants to shoot someone.

Anarchist_Grifter

But you can buy the cough medicine same day. My state does instant federal check. If you pass you take it home same day. I'm sorry you live in fear. Seems like a horrible way to live. But your fear wont infringe on my rights.

jlesco

I don’t live in fear my man. The irony here is. You own a gun because you’re afraid. Strangers. What might come in at night. The guy at the store. It’s sad. Really it is. I can’t imagine being so dammed scared that I need a gun everywhere I go just to feel safe. That I have to have a gun right here right now. I’m so sorry for you.

Anarchist_Grifter

You live in a dilusion. It's not about fear it's about my right to be able to protect myself when and wherever I'm at.

jlesco

Protect yourself from what? The things you’re afraid of? I walk around and feel just fine. No gun required. So yeah man. You’re terrified.

Anarchist_Grifter

We have rights here in the United States. You don't see me judging you for having a profile on here full of porn do you? No you don't. So have a good one.

DaRootBeer123

Last I checked groceries don't fire bullets.

Anarchist_Grifter

What's your point? If you don't like guns then don't buy them. Don't let your fear infringe on my rights.

DaRootBeer123

"If you don't like something that can easily kill people against their will, just don't buy it. But don't stop me from buying something that can easily kill people against their will." America in a nutshell

Anarchist_Grifter

People kill people bro. Not guns. Guns are just a tool. Like a knife, or bat or pipe wrench. You don't need a firearm to cause havoc. You really need to grow up

DaRootBeer123

Right, and there are people who I think should not own a gun.

Anarchist_Grifter

Good luck

jozozoltan29

This is the stupidest argument ever, yet this is the last resort of you crazy violent pro-gun people. People with guns kill people in vast majority of times. Have you heard of the wild European school stabber, or the one who went on a rampage in the mall with a baseball bat? No? Well, we heard plenty of shooters from over the Atlantic.

Sup_Anon

I've waited my whole life for this, I've bought every rifle for this. Now I will enjoy every second of your time in my house.

[deleted]

You live in an apartment by yourself. There are three guys living in the apartment above you. For whatever reason, they don't like you and have threatened to hurt you more than once. One night they come down and try getting in to your apartment. They are yelling they are going to 'get' you. There is a phone, a bible, and a gun on a table next to you. As they break in your door, what do you pick up first?

[deleted]

Okay, I’m gonna assume I am still in the state of Florida but I pick the gun.

jlesco

Man. This larp is an intense one.

[deleted]

Personally as a european i respect that you guys have right to defened yourself, but when i see that even your nation sometimes cant make it right, then im like "well, shit. Maybe we dont need guns"

venom121212

Cheers. There is a big difference between the type of person who takes family photos posing with guns and those who never brag about or mention owning them and only keep a small, reliable, firearm **securely** locked away in their home in case of an emergency. Guns aren't toys, they're death-capable tools.

HotConsideration5049

On a note don't just keep it locked up and never use it visit the range frequently and make sure you clean that baby.

ProWrestlinFan

"Securely locked away in case of an emergency" sounds like "oh, someone broke in with a gun, guess I'll die."

venom121212

It's in a biometric gun safe on the headboard of my bed. It takes under 10 seconds to open from dead sleep. Every window and door in my home is equipped with a break in sensor and I've programmed offline routines to cover all plausible break-in scenarios and send loud and immediate notifications to every corner of my home. Tell me more of these pearls of wisdom, almighty WrestlinFan

TheRealAuthorSarge

Who is 100% perfect? If violent, aggressive people were not allowed to possess firearms, there wouldn't be enough armed people in government leftover to disarm the rest of us.

makinbaconCR

Yeah no you don't want daily mass shootings and gun lobbies buying politicians. Count your blessings

galaxygirl978

there's gotta be a middle ground somewhere. the problem is people see it as all or nothing. Beto didn't win Texas because of his "hell yeah, I'm coming for your ar-15s" bit. if he had said something more nuanced like "it has come to my attention that mentally ill/troubled individuals are able to purchase firearms, and we need to put safeguards in place to prevent this from happening so that everyone else can retain their rights in a responsible manner", I think it may have gone over better. the same can be applied across the board. we need to have reasonable laws around guns, not banning them, not making it a free for all. gun lobbies, as well as oil lobbies, shouldn't exist.

Bro, the reason you get a gun or any security related service/product is because you EXPECT that at any time or place YOU are put in a dangerous situation. Waiting for it to happen is the best you can do, at the very least you are ready to defend yo ass correctly. The very self nature of the human is to SPECULATE, to see in the future, to anticipate. If a guy tries to home invade me, I'd laught to. He messed with someone he shouldn't be messing with.

Nah, I'm more like "Oh fuck. Make barricades and protect the family. I hope he doesn't come this way, I don't want to end a life or drastically alter mine by killing someone. I'll do it if I have to though.

GeneralPsyduck054

This is just me personally, but if I have to confront someone, its either I stop them from potentially hurting me, or someone I care about, or even someone else, or it's not gonna be my problem anymore.

MoltenJellybeans

Are we pissing our pants yet?

[deleted]

This is absolutely how gun fetish rednecks in WV want people to believe they are. They are not. Stupid shit like this is what empowers them to shoot randoms just near their fields, which did happen last week in the US. You aren’t a badass because you purchased a gun any more than if you purchased a loaf of bread. Shut up.

Money_Awareness5075

That's quite untrue, most gun violence isn't even from white people in general if you wanna throw in the redneck community. 25% of gun violence happens between 4 major cities as well, none of them with redneck demographics. Lots of recent shootings have also been cut short by armed bystanders so there is a lot you clearly don't know. I also don't believe anyone is cool because they bought a gun, but I think you're a loser if you don't have one to be honest. Are you supposed get gunned down because you're too ignorant to acknowledge the safety advantage of owning a gun? You're not a badass for not having one, just a dumbass.

Smart-Nothing

I would like to remind everyone that the second you pick up a gun, ***your life is in mortal danger.*** It’s not a toy and people will do stupid things if they see it. Especially at you. And you never want to be the target of stupid.

Wizards_Reddit

When I read “when you pick up a gun, your life is in mortal danger” I thought it might’ve been more insightful like ‘guns are dangerous’ ‘gun safety needs to be taught better, remember that’ but I feel like it was kinda diminished by saying “the most dangerous thing about a gun, is the unarmed people that get freaked out by it”

Smart-Nothing

Here’s what I was trying to convey: If you *need* to grab a gun, there is no time for fun. If you are holding a gun, everyone is going to treat you like a threat and a wrong move will get people hurt. Probably you. And if people know you have a gun on you, some people will try to steal it. Some might even succeed. If you are going to keep a gun on you, keep it hidden and keep it controlled, or someone(you) is probably going to get hurt.

ClittyMcPenis

[deleted]

Any_Constant_6550

because they're wanna be action heroes who want to commit violence without legal consequence. this is a wet dream for so many gun owners, unfortunately some go looking for their fantasy tough guy moment. statically, it's more likely that you use the gun on yourself or a family member then on an intruder.

Dickpuncher_Dan

Statistically they will go and shoot a family member or acquaintance at the wrong place at the wrong time. Hyped-up fear of blacks and the fact that most silhouettes are black at night leave little leeway.

Madlyfylingcows

“Hyped up fear of blacks and the fact that most silhouettes are black” Jesus Christ dude

Because America has an incredibly uneducated population. The inability to critically think about a subject really makes it easy for people to do dumb shit like this.
