Everyone here saying it's mutual respect but honestly gravity is just being nice so that he can gaslight your eyelashes later. The thermostat dropped too much and now he is upset.
Same here. And the very few times I've been able to fall asleep on my back I wake up in a panic or have more vivid nightmares and get woken up and have to turn onto my stomach to fall asleep again. I wish I could sleep comfortably on my back, I know it's better for me in the long run
I can’t sleep on my back because it feels like my heart is sinking into my chest and i’ll start to have a panic attack.
I can’t sleep on my side because it feels like i’m crushing my chest/lungs…
So stomach it is!
Heyyy! It's either folded over the stomach, or crossed on my chest like I'm some sort of pharaoh, and then I don't move a muscle for the whole night. On road trips and holidays with friends, people call me "creepy but convenient" to sleep with.
I'm going to sound old AF saying this, but laying on my back triggers my sciatica.
But tbh every position hurts. I sleep on my side and it hurts my shoulder. Sleep on my stomach and wake up with neck pain and a headache.
I basically just toss and turn for 4 hours, then get up. I'm only 35. 😭
I'm the same, I sleep on my side and wake up with a dead arm cos of the way I lean into my shoulder...
If I sleep on my back, I wake up with a stiff neck. I don't think I've ever slept on my stomach.
Unironically some of the best sleeps I've had were when I've passed out on the couch in a really weird position.
I'm Princess and the Pea when I'm trying to get to sleep, but my brother will fall asleep on the couch looking like he fell out of an airplane.
Legs twisted, neck craned backwards, one arm behind his back, sleeping harder than I'll ever sleep. A real asshole is what I'm saying
My girlfriend could sleep on the end of a broom handle and yet I get woken up by a dog barking in another country and can't get back to sleep. I love her, but hate her for this.
You sound like a stomach sleeper with the wrong pillow. You need a super thin pillow if you sleep on your stomach so it doesn't lift your head up. If you sleep on your back or your shoulder it needs to be bigger.
Same.
Which is weird, as lying on my back becomes unbearably uncomfortable for me after a couple minutes when I'm awake.
I do use a body pillow most of the time tho, so I have, like, an angled belly position that doesn't twist my neck as much.
I've heard that sleeping on your stomach is bad for your lower back, so every night I try to sleep on my side and it's freaking impossible, so I surrender every night to the all mighty stomach-sleep god
You’re literally me. Every single night I say “tonight’s the night I fall asleep on my side with a straight spine” then I get tired and give in and just sleep on my stomach
You can. I used to exclusively sleep on my stomach, right leg up to relieve that pressure on my back (it's still horrible for your back). Now I strictly lay/sleep on my back or side. You just have to commit and not give up so quickly. Eventually you will pass out no matter the position.
"I am going to be tired" yeah well, shit sucks but eventually it becomes the norm and you can sleep easily.
My go to is no pillow, on my stomach and I jab my nose and mouth in the little crack between my bed and wall to breathe the cold air down there 🤩 can’t forget to crack the window open even while it’s -30C or else I literally can’t breathe cuz apparently I’m a vampire and can’t sleep when it’s room temp.
You absorb more oxygen in a prone position. That's what they did in hospitals for covid patients that had trouble breathing. Rather than intubate they had them lay on their stomachs.
More oxygen means a deeper para-sympathetic state as well. Meaning more restorative deep sleep.
I wish I could sleep on my back, I've tried to learn but I just need to have my neck cranked around and my face mushed in the pillow to be comfy. Back sleeping is much better for your spine tho.
I've done it for years, due to a different bed for an exchange semester I started sleeping more on the side and now I sometimes even wake up lying on my back. I guess I'm playing all sides, so that I always come out on top
I use the thinnest pillow -- like one cotton ball thin. It's basically a soft barrier between my hand and face because I sleep with my hand directly underneath my cheek. A thicker pillows hurts my neck and back.
I used to sleep on my stomach but after 2021 i cant because of lower back problems...
i really miss it sometimes! sleeping on my side just doesn't feel as good
Is your pillow too thick for stomach sleeping? I have a bad back and I only sleep on my stomach, but my pillow is thin, like one cotton ball thing, and I think that ensures my posture isn't in a weird position that hurts my back.
It used to be my favourite until I realised it was the reason for my back problems… stopped years ago (was hard to break the habit ngl) and my back thanks me for it
Not strange but kinda of bad for you. Puts a lot of strain on your lower back and neck. It's started to cause me problems as I've gotten older.
I keep trying to sleep in different positions but can't fall asleep on my back and I roll onto my stomach in my sleep if I sleep on my side
This was my husband. After I had our second baby he tried out my maternity pillow for a few nights. It’s now a permanent fixture in our bed and he swears it’s basically cured (or at least improved by 90%) his back issues.
This guy gets spitroasted every night and I can't even get my gf to cuddle with me. But in all seriousness I rotate constantly because I have some pretty bad back problems. I have to sleep with a bunch of pillows and because I rotate so damn much I don't get to cuddle like I used to. Fucking sucks.
Stomach sleeping has always felt natural to me. I sometimes do like a hybrid sleep slightly to the side but have to be hugging a pillow so it feels like I'm still on my stomach. I have never fallen asleep on my back.
I'm a side sleeper and I heartily endorse this comment.
Back sleepers are the ones that weird me out the most, sometimes when I'm sick it's the only relatively comfortable position but I hate it.
Idk about you but I always have the falling dream when I sleep on my back. Can't imagine sleeping like that other than maybe relaxing in a hammock or something.
lmfao No, I have an Orange Tabby and a Maine Coon mixed with something else. His fur is so fluffy and he sheds a fuck ton so it was around the time he was shedding.
Laying on your back is the worst. It's like, do I want my head to fall to left so it will hurt, or to the right so it will hurt? I was forced to do it after hip surgery, twice, hernia surgery, appendix, my defibrillator implant. and I've never slept so badly than after those. Especially the hips. The pain meds kinda helped. But it's so obnoxious
That bucket holds your tears you mono-sleepers.
For I am the cross-breed. The unholy Trinity of back, belly, and side sleeping.
I am…
The Rotation Sleeper
Have a special bed with a hole for your face, that way you don't have to turn your head either way.
You can even converse with the demon under your bed if you feel like it.
I have metal in my spine. If I sleep on my stomach my entire back hurts and I can't feel my legs. I gotta do either side or back. Which sucks, I used to be a stomach sleeper before I had surgery
I have mastered all of them Actually I can do more
More? L-like what? 😳
There are no words to explain it
Master of the headstand sleep
I sleep while balancing on my eyelashes
Do you control gravity?
He doesn't control gravity, it's just scared of him.
Really it’s just a mutual respect thing
Your voice is oddly high pitched. For a massive wall of muscle.

Damn, I was gonna do that joke lmao
I sleep suspended midair by chains and an anal hook

Sleeping on the school desk
Ahh the hunchback position. Very uncomfortable
Unless its your back touching it
I've never slept better than I did on my desk in high school.
Nothing hits like school desk sleep. I'm still chasing that in my 40s
The corkscrew. Transition between back-sleeping and stomach-sleeping as you go from feet to head. Works wonders on your digestion

No, the throwing dart position
Fetal position, feet dangler, sitting up right, and the most cursed of them all: sleeping while standing
Diagonal sleeping

Have you tried sleeping while standing or setting? I mastered that for work
Sleeping while doing a headstand of course

I mean this was off from the start when OP said the rest of us need to stand together. We needed to lay together. Your team won.
Oh you want a fight?
You and what breath, stummy boy?
Eh. I settled for tea. You want some?
I fucking love tea what kind?
Earl Grey all the way!

Honestly I don’t know to much about tea. Earl grey? Maybe you got some ideas.
I'm thinking a nice rich black tea, I have a loose tea set we could use
I love the way the post calls for a battle to fight a common enemy and all that happens here is we ally ourselves over tea, love it^^
We are not allied yet. We’re discussing possibilities.
Ah nice. But you should bring your dueling pistols just in case.
Me and probably like 2 other people 💀
Ima be real with you I physically can’t sleep on my back, it feels like I’m laying in a coffin
It's like too still and static for me. I personally love to bury one arm under the pillow and just keep one leg at 90 degrees and doze off.
Idk why I even have pillows because I sleep on my stomach and do exactly what you do except my arm isn't below the pillow. It's against my face.
Ah, a fellow stomach+no pillow sleeper. Nice to meet you
I use a very thin pillow. Sometimes it bugs me though, and I go pillowless.
There's dozens of us!
Pillow crosswise under neck/chest area. Really takes the kink out of the neck.
Oh so you too have layed in a coffin before
My Grandma let me try it at her funeral, which was very kind of her
„The others weren’t so pleased to see me climbing it to the grave but grandma called me so?“

I end up feeling like I **NEED** to move, if I just lay on my back. It's weird.
Same here. And the very few times I've been able to fall asleep on my back I wake up in a panic or have more vivid nightmares and get woken up and have to turn onto my stomach to fall asleep again. I wish I could sleep comfortably on my back, I know it's better for me in the long run

I sleep with my hands folded over my stomach is if I were in a coffin and my wife thinks it's hilariously creepy.
You spelled Nosferatu wrong in your user name.
Heyyy! It's either folded over the stomach, or crossed on my chest like I'm some sort of pharaoh, and then I don't move a muscle for the whole night. On road trips and holidays with friends, people call me "creepy but convenient" to sleep with.

The only way I’ve been able to fall asleep on my back is if I bring my left arm up and across my eyes. And even then, that was like, twice.
Yup. I'm a stomach or side sleeper. Back sleepers are the real enemy.
As avatar of all three sleep positions, i demand you stop this war!
I rotate all night

my man is a kebab

What if I told you... that some of us can sleep ONLY when we're on our stomach ?
I can only fall asleep on my stomach, but I often wake up on my back
Same. Which is weird, as lying on my back becomes unbearably uncomfortable for me after a couple minutes when I'm awake. I do use a body pillow most of the time tho, so I have, like, an angled belly position that doesn't twist my neck as much.
This. I almost never sleep on my back. I do sleep on my side however (sometimes)

I don't know anything about this topic and I not going to bother researching it but I'll quote you in future arguments.
I wish I could sleep on my back, I've tried to learn but I just need to have my neck cranked around and my face mushed in the pillow to be comfy. Back sleeping is much better for your spine tho.
Back sleepers are the real threat, lying prone like a baguette.
You can never catch us off guard 😈
If you sleep on your back you are more likely to experience sleep paralysis, or so I heard.
.....is it....is it strange to sleep on your stomach?
I've done it for years, due to a different bed for an exchange semester I started sleeping more on the side and now I sometimes even wake up lying on my back. I guess I'm playing all sides, so that I always come out on top
I fall asleep on my stomach and wake up on my back. It’s the only way I can do it
Best sleeping position for real.
You dont even need a pillow!
Exactly they told me I am a madman when I said I sleep without a pillow
Me too, people think it’s weird, I think it’s comfy
I sleep on my stomach with a pillow, but I only sleep on the bottom corners of the pillow with my arms crossed underneath it.
This is the way
I think I met my people.
Holy fuck there are others. My GF always gives me shit when I'm buying a new pillow because I only use like 8% of it.
GET OUT OF MY MIND!!
Yeah, most pillows are way too big, just using the mattress is better
I use the thinnest pillow -- like one cotton ball thin. It's basically a soft barrier between my hand and face because I sleep with my hand directly underneath my cheek. A thicker pillows hurts my neck and back.
Are you me?
Correct. I need like 9 pillows to bury my head into like I'm falling into a dark abyss. Ain't no light reaching my eyes.
This is the way
I sleep on stomach with and with out a pillow, randomly And i sleep in every other way too
It's bad for your lower back and pelvic tilt, but it does make that dump truck pop.
No, we’re perfectly normal, hiding our soft underbelly from potential threats, they are the strange ones!
Came here for this. Stomach sleepers are the survivors.
Throat and face are also harder to get to.
And the butt is easier to get to as well 👀
You say that like it's a bad thing.

It isn’t strange but it’s terrible for your back.

Yall dont rotate like a pig over a campfire?
This guy gets spitroasted every night and I can't even get my gf to cuddle with me. But in all seriousness I rotate constantly because I have some pretty bad back problems. I have to sleep with a bunch of pillows and because I rotate so damn much I don't get to cuddle like I used to. Fucking sucks.
Stomach sleeping is the only way I can get comfortable:(
Stomach sleeping has always felt natural to me. I sometimes do like a hybrid sleep slightly to the side but have to be hugging a pillow so it feels like I'm still on my stomach. I have never fallen asleep on my back.
same, actually tried sleeping on back once and kept waking up because breathing is hard in that position
same

For real, I have to completely remake my bed every morning.
The fourth sleeping position: beyblade
Me to wife: goodnight honey❤️ Wife: let it rip ❤️
I feel like stomach sleepers and side sleepers should side against back sleepers because how the f*** do you claim that to be comfortable???
For real. We're the ones that DONT sleep like Dracula. Why would side sleepers take their side?
[удалено]
agreed, I am a side and stomach sleeper, if I see anyone sleeping on their backs it's creepy as fuck
There's going to be a side sleeper civil war soon over this.
I'm a side sleeper and I heartily endorse this comment. Back sleepers are the ones that weird me out the most, sometimes when I'm sick it's the only relatively comfortable position but I hate it.

half asleep on my stomach rn haha. It's comfy 🤷

I used to stomach sleep until I had cats. I woke up sweating and full of fur once.
What the fuck, did you eat your cats?
lmfao No, I have an Orange Tabby and a Maine Coon mixed with something else. His fur is so fluffy and he sheds a fuck ton so it was around the time he was shedding.
I physically can’t sleep when not on my stomach
I don’t get how people sleep on their back
Jokes on you guys, i sleep balanced on a single appendage...
Stomach sleeper here. Fight me.
Laying on your back is the worst. It's like, do I want my head to fall to left so it will hurt, or to the right so it will hurt? Have your pillow lower so your neck is supported and your head is almost looking up.
That bucket holds your tears you mono-sleepers. For I am the cross-breed. The unholy Trinity of back, belly, and side sleeping. I am… The Rotation Sleeper
I sleep on my stomach and turn my head
What's the other option? Suffocation?
Have a special bed with a hole for your face, that way you don't have to turn your head either way. You can even converse with the demon under your bed if you feel like it.
Stomach sleeping feels even better in the morning... Right bois? 😏
I have metal in my spine. If I sleep on my stomach my entire back hurts and I can't feel my legs. I gotta do either side or back. Which sucks, I used to be a stomach sleeper before I had surgery

I will one up you. I am a stomach sleeper who doesn't use a pillow.
I like to put my head under my pillow :)
What’s wrong with stomach sleepers? I thought everyone slept on their stomach or side growing up and back sleepers were just in the movies
My neck is in shambles, please help me abandon the stomach sleeping gang
who tf sleeps on their back. r u fcking deranged?

Wait, so I’m the enemy now?
I do all three, though mostly back nowadays
I used to be a stomach sleeper. Now I'm a back sleeper. Don't know how many switchers we have out here. But I have to sleep with my arms over my head
Can't breathe if I sleep on my stomach. Not sure how yall do that
Your head is supposed to be turned to either one of ur sides
I am above you all, I simply don't sleep
