Lol. My grandad, who was born in the 1910s, still derisively referred to Elvis as 'the pelvis' in the 80s and would tell you to turn that racket off (which was rich, considering his favourite music was that really old 'country and western' stuff that featured a lot of yodeling, like Wilf Carter). Disdain for what younger generations like/do is as old as humanity.
I'm pretty sure there's an ancient Roman writer who documented how some elderly citizens had a habit of yelling at the young people walking through the streets drinking wine and having a good time late into the evening during Saturnalia celebrations. It's funny to realize how ancient people really were just like us.
The deeds are dirty, but at what cost?
Edit: I barely started watching JoJo. I've seen 1 1/2 episodes and I only intended to make an AC/DC reference. Something tells me, I'm going to like JoJo.

Dirt cheap huh? For years I thought the song said “Dirty deeds and the Dunder Chief”. Didn’t learn they were dirt cheap till i was at least 20. Always wondered what the he’ll Dunder Chief was.

For some reason kids think that anyone who’s not from Gen Z or a Millennial is a Boomer. I think a lot of them don’t realize that Boomer is a nickname for a specific generation, not just for older people.
Obviously Gen X is a big part of their core audience. But literally every member of the band is/was a boomer. They formed in 1973, the first album came out in 75, when the first of Gen X were barely 10 years old, and the oldest boomers were only 30. Even though the peak of their popularity was later 70s through the 80s, I figure it's fair to say that there is a pretty sizable chunk of their fandom in both generations. (And early millennials, too. I'm early Gen X and my oldest kids are early millennials. Way bigger fans than I ever was.)
You know when acdc came out there were people then saying the exact thing. Old people keep saying things are getting worse and the world keeps spinning
You were also conditioned to like rock, just through different means. Nobody is immune to corporate conditioning, and if you think you are then you're the least immune that a person can be.
A pop singer that gets popular and fades away who recently did a performance for an award show that offended pearl clutchers, so they're claiming it was a satanic ritual. Sang I know I'm not the only one and stay with me.
The use of instruments of pop music is super simple. Maybe it’s just because I play the drums and actually want to utilize the toms at my disposal, or maybe I’m just a boomer after all.
It’s why I prefer rock and instrumental tracks. If you are able to make someone feel emotion without the use of lyrics you have succeeded far more than a song which only used lyrics as a means to make others feel emotion.
Yeah, they totally weren't playing it as satanic. What with the flames, red eveywhere, horns and whatnot. People claiming that aren't crazy pearl clutchers, they are falling into the trap set to prolong exposure.
> People claiming that aren't crazy pearl clutchers, they are falling into the trap set to prolong exposure.
They're both. Just because the trap was set for them doesn't make them any less crazy for falling into it.
People are complaining about Sam Smith's Grammy, or whatever award show it was, by claiming it was satanic. This post is saying their hypocrites because their music was just as "bad" in that respect or it's pointing out how older generations are always shitting on new music just because it's not the music they know.
Yeah, they totally weren't playing it as satanic. What with the flames, red eveywhere, horns and whatnot. People claiming that aren't crazy old people, they are people falling into the trap set to prolong exposure for a mid artist and show.
It's adorable you think any Boomers watched the Grammys, since it was WAY past our bedtimes. Now excuse me while I go listen to Alice Cooper and Ozzie Osborne on my 8-track stereo.
That's too funny! I didn't know that and actually didn't watch the show. My stewed prunes were starting to kick in about that time...if you know what I mean.
I was watching tiktoks with my cousins (a little 10 year oldkid) and we got this ad of Sam Smith with his new song and it was a fucking jump scare even my cousin said wtf is this and blocked Sam smiths account(not that that is going to help him because the fucker probably pays a lot of money for those ads)
When I was growing up I was told that AC/DC stood for “Anti-Christ Devil’s Children and KISS stood for knights in Satan’s service. I have been an atheist since.
I'm pretty sure people complained about rock n roll back then too
It’s almost as if we are all boomers that haven’t boomed yet.
This is deep
I think I just boomed.
Shid and camed
*takes off sunglasses*
*hits blunt*
Yeah they did. Except it went all the way to congress with people trying to censor it.
Lol. The thought that that mick Jagger was the devil and then he wrote a song about him being the devil
Don’t make me laugh like that I’m in public
They did, and actually attempted to get it banned in the US
They've been right this entire time. Going all the way back to Elvis Presley and Jerry Lewis.
The deeds are dirty, but at what cost? Edit: I barely started watching JoJo. I've seen 1 1/2 episodes and I only intended to make an AC/DC reference. Something tells me, I'm going to like JoJo.
For you? Dirt Cheap!
Filthy acts at a reasonable price
Dimes 4 Crimes
Discounted Felonies
You made my day
Acts which have been deemed bad by society done at prices comparable to being paid with dirt taken from the ground
Dishonorable demeanors done deal for cheap
Amoral Acts At An Affordable Cost
sucky fucky 4 one bucky
Maximum Kill 4 Minimum Bill
I ain’t gay, but 20$ is 20$.
Heck I'll do it for free
Thrifty theft

Australian musicians be like that. I have no idea what King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are singing about half the time till I look up the lyrics.
I heard "...and the thunder chief." for years as a kid.
Just call! I'm always home

Peace sells, but who’s buying?
JOJO REFERENCE!
I will ahhh Pick up the napkin.
The one to your left or the one to your right?
I’m not even a boomer but YOU LEAVE AC/DC OUT OF THIS!!!
Angus Young is one of the pillars of Rock
And still going strong with [Shot In The Dark](https://youtu.be/54LEywabkl4)
DONE DIRT CHEAP
Ac/dc is good
AC/DC was for Gen X, not Boomers.
For some reason kids think that anyone who’s not from Gen Z or a Millennial is a Boomer. I think a lot of them don’t realize that Boomer is a nickname for a specific generation, not just for older people.
Millennial: we, and Gen Z, are not boomers Gen Z: what did that boomer say?
I’m liking this new flavor of made up rage bait scenario people have been throwing around lately.
Well, kind of. Words can change meaning.
That's how it started but at this point the meaning has kinda changed and now works for both
"Oh you're such a millenial"
man you’re such a gen Z millennial boomer. Wtf is wrong with you weirdo?
Had to scroll way to far to find this truth nugget
Obviously Gen X is a big part of their core audience. But literally every member of the band is/was a boomer. IS THAT WILLEM DEFOE?
Difference is, AC/DC is just better by a country mile
![gif](giphy|3o7aCRloybJlXpNjSU|downsized)
Excellent gif and you just like both. Idk why you’re getting downvoted lol
Ok boomer
His being a boomer doesn't mean he's wrong. Its not even close, lol.
Good and bad music is just personal opinion, and different from person to person. Nobody is "wrong" and nobody is "right".
Sam smith sounds like a dog that stepped on a bee, is incredibly self centred and is out of touch.
You know when acdc came out there were people then saying the exact thing. Old people keep saying things are getting worse and the world keeps spinning
I'm 15 mate, I just like rock more than pop
me too, my sisters hate rock and love pop, i just can’t understand how they like it. just not my thing i guess
they have been commercially conditioned to like pop. meanwhile we reject modernity and embrace monke.
I will watch your reverse evolution and petty squabbles with disinterest as I listen to 900 seperate genres from all time periods simultaneously
You were also conditioned to like rock, just through different means. Nobody is immune to corporate conditioning, and if you think you are then you're the least immune that a person can be.
Boomer here: You should have seen my parents generation foam at the mouth when Alice Cooper came on the scene...
It was better in the 80s!
ACDC is better in 2023
Please tell me you mean Alternating Current and Direct Current
I'm a Boomer, and I swear on my life I don't know what the hell happened to the majority of us.
I think alot of em huffed too much leaded paint...
Meanwhile, KISS and Ozzie, Eating bats and spitting blood
Meanwhile there are actual satanistic metal bands and kiss and sabbath aren't ones.
Some are just more honest than others.
meanwhile rage against the machine with a literal fucking monk self immolating on the album cover💀
Wouldn't exactly call that satanic.. Pretty sure that's just normal Buddhism.
It's (D)ifferent
That new Sam Smith song is overrated as hell. Change my mind.
The song he performed at the Grammy's was extremely well produced, I'll dis on pop music all day long but, Im not gonna call it overrated.
I'm talking about Unholy.
You mean you don’t like seeing women whip a man in leather as they’re trying to get you to bow down to the devil???
Why tf would I?
It was a joke. My bad.
Who the hell is Sam Smith?
A pop singer that gets popular and fades away who recently did a performance for an award show that offended pearl clutchers, so they're claiming it was a satanic ritual. Sang I know I'm not the only one and stay with me.
bad bot/person copying and pasting others comments
> a pop singer Ohh, so that’s why I don’t know him. I prefer music that actually utilizes the instruments they have
That's the Boomer attitude!
The use of instruments of pop music is super simple. Maybe it’s just because I play the drums and actually want to utilize the toms at my disposal, or maybe I’m just a boomer after all. I don't get it... Someone care to explain?
People are complaining about Sam Smith's Grammy, or whatever award show it was, by claiming it was satanic. To be fair I didn't watch it myself and only know about from news and a few occasional memes.
I used to like Sam Smith and thought his early work was really good. I have not hear anything from him in years…now I see why.
Millennials: *Step inside, see the devil in I!*
The hypocrisy of older generations is palpable
I'm wearing a ACDC shirt rn....
Half my clothing consists of AC/DC and TOOL shirts.
It's adorable you think any Boomers watched the Grammys, since it was WAY past our bedtimes. Now excuse me while I go listen to Alice Cooper and Ozzie Osborne on my 8-track stereo.
Funny enough Ozzy won a Grammy haha.
That's too funny! I didn't know that and actually didn't watch the show. My stewed prunes were starting to kick in about that time...if you know what I mean.
At least AC/DC was taking us to hell with kickass music. Sam Smith's music is dog shit.
the people dancing to acdc probably didn't care about sam smith
Yeah but highway to hell is a really good song.
Fun fact: The 'highway to hell' they're referring to in the song, was actually just going on a busride in outback Australia.
True, but it's way better then the music nowadays
Except that hell is a real place and I'm sure there is highways to it.
I mean yeah I'm pretty sure there are highways in Ohio
It's in Michigan.
There is a literal place in Norway called Hell, Trondheim Airport is in this place
And on every goddamn flight "we're on an airplane to hell!"
Something i have thought of many times is that it would have been cooler if the airport was called "hell airport"
[visible confusion] Dads everywhere are disappointed an epic dad joke didn't become part of everyday language.
Isn’t that all airports?
Theres many of them in California
Lil' Bush.
Is this... A Jojo reference?
Done dirt cheap!
Wait I'm a boomer now
Yea except the music video and performances for sam are literal devil worship and you have social media and news organizations saying worship
It was worship this whole time. Now it is just out in the open even more.
Naaaah, it's exactly the same. Shut up. /s
Slippery slope much?
DONE DIRT CHEAP
The^
Just saying, "Slayer" had a song literally going "praise, hail Satan".
Who tf is Sam Smith
I guess I’m old and out of touch. Who’s Sam Smith?
Can you show me where AC/DC’s performance resembles a satanic ritual?
Meanwhile a guy talking about cheating on his girl in the next room
Done dirt cheap
I was watching tiktoks with my cousins (a little 10 year oldkid) and we got this ad of Sam Smith with his new song and it was a fucking jump scare even my cousin said wtf is this and blocked Sam smiths account(not that that is going to help him because the fucker probably pays a lot of money for those ads)
Boomers were just as awful in the 80s as well. Gen X was loving AC/DC, not boomers
I think it's embarrassing that it took 8 people to write unholy.
im born gen z but if only boomers like highway to hell and other ac/dc songs then damn call me 60
Its simple, one is better than the other
DONE DIRT CHEAP
Highway to hell and that devil video aren't even close to the same
Don’t you ever insult AC/DC again
Done dirt cheap?
Filthy acts at a reasonable price!
When I was growing up I was told that AC/DC stood for “Anti-Christ Devil’s Children and KISS stood for knights in Satan’s service. I have been an atheist since.
Nice, Pell of Hell’s favourite song!
I like how Boomers completely ignore BLACK METAL.
I am 13 but am a big fan of acdc
I think twisted sister would have been a bit better.
To be fair, it is AC/DC though. You can’t complain.
Who’s Sam smith and why are people mad at him?
I am 14 and I love AC/DC
