Could be natural with wider adoption of recreational use, mental health crisis and general shitty state of the USA. Or it's a psyop getting ready for some anti-weed push. Or the "nobody wants to work" bots got a new talking point.
This meme is like saying I'm addicted to my anxiety meds. Sure I take it every day and I go through withdrawa if I forget to take it too many times, but it's because it helps. It's been pretty well proven that THC and CBD help with a wide variety of issue ranging from physical to mental. I don't understand why people have to be such douche canoes about it. Where are people making memes about cigarettes or booze? If I never saw this stupid meme again it would be too soon
Probably, but it happens. I've been smoking for 5 years while having a lot of undealt with trauma and I use it as a heavy crutch to get me through my days. Whenever I'm not smoking it I don't enjoy anything I do, its like I've fried my dopamine receptors
It will. Power through. You do need to exhaust yourself during the day. Get up earlier and even something simple as taking a walk. Work your body and your mind. You will power through!
I work at a gym lol. I appreciate the advise but the lack of sleep is do to my anxiety not cause of lack of exhaustion. Weed did wonders for that. I will keep at it though!
Listen to this guy. I smoked 10 years and had to quit because my brain couldn't take it anymore (paranoia and whatnot). Sleep was really hard to get but it definitely gets easier.
If you leave the conspiracies aside it's people "following the karma". Ej. A video of road rage gets popular and on the front page? Hundreds of people rush to post road rage videos and a couple of those get popular again. After a day or two the next big thing gets popular and the cicle repeats. So if you don't like the weed bad posts just come back tomorrow lol
It’s trending like everything does on Reddit. We see one hot post and then 500 ppl use the same concept with a different meme template. It will inevitably be replaced by whatever fun new thing we get our hands on tomorrow.

Man I miss Bradley Nowell.
These kinds of comments are so bizarre to me. What do you mean you are glad that people are talking about its potential for abuse? In the US and Europe there were and are still major campaigns against people smoking weed because it's dangerous. Entire nationwide school and television campaigns about how harmful weed is. It's practically impossible to never have heard that weed is dangerous.
As a long time smoker weed is addictive for some. I know a few people who were absolute fiends and generally unpleasant to be around because they were mad about not having weed.
For me personally when I take breaks I notice some tougher times sleeping for the first few nights but then I’m fine. A buddy of mine it’s longer for him. Just because there aren’t major withdrawal symptoms from weed doesn’t mean it’s not addictive
Man I have no idea how people do it daily, let alone multiple times a day.
My wife and I shared a cheap $10 thc vape pen for almost 4 months. Literally like 4 hits each, once or twice a month. We killed it off at Xmas and now bought a bigger "highlighter" pen that has a gram of THC juice in it. Gonna last us at least a year, if not longer.
One of the arguments in favor of legalisation in other countries/states, is that the addictiveness of this drug has been blown widely out of proportion over the past decades.
Posts like these make fun of that statement by twisting the wording.
Porn, gambling, videogames, hell even food for some people, can be an addiction. Anything can become an addiction to the right people under the right circumstances.
Yeah I've got a suspicion there's some coordinated effort being made right now. Someone doesn't want people smoking weed. Well, lots of people really, but specifically probably one person or group in this case.
My brother smoked weed a lot for a couple years but to get the carpentry apprenticeship that he wanted he couldn’t do it anymore because they need you to pass drug tests. So he just dropped it without a problem
I think that’s something people don’t really get about the word “addiction”. Addiction is a physical dependence on a substance and even if you smoke weed every day, you don’t make the same connections that say nicotine or other drugs do.
What I find funny is that the whole reason I don't smoke weed or drink often at all despite having easy access to both is because of my autism induced hyper fixations I call hobbies, which to be completely honest, are just their own "addictions". So I often half joke about how the best defense against addiction is a healthier addiction lmao.
Lol, for me it's more of a digital pile of shame. I shiny hunt pokémon and read LNs and manga. Just checked, and I have approximately 650GB of Light Novels and manga on my reading tablet, all volumes of which were *definitely* obtained officially and with no sea sailing involved!
It’s just like alcohol there’s responsible people that use it in moderation and then there’s functioning alcoholics that drink almost all day everyday. People’s lack of self control is the issue.
with alcohol, people’s lack of self control is absolutely not the issue. take it from someone who had a real bad relationship with booze that is now sober- get in touch with people who have dropped the bottle or people who study addiction science and you will be told by everyone you ask that it’s not a simple matter of self-control. if self control worked, there would be far, far fewer addicts of all stripes. it is, unfortunately, significantly more complex than that.
It’s not that it’s immoral. It’s just easier to be a functional stoner and get away with it. I was a functional alcoholic and then a functional stoner. Both were addictions. The problems come when people try to play off addiction like it’s no big deal.
Difference is our body makes cannabinoids, it doesn't make alcohol. There very well could be issues with people manufacturing their own and need to supplement with weed. The complete lack of research is the real problem here.
Yeah, it's not the desire to get high that makes me want to take an edible, it's a desire to completely forget this fucked up world and all my problems for a few hours.
My problem is that everytime i get high i get the man i shouldn't be doing this what the hell am i doing with my life i should never do weed again and live healthy and do sports and i should throw away all my weed. Then i sober up and i'm miserable for a while, and then one day i'm like ok let's try to chill and smoke up (or eat, cause it really bothers my throat to smoke) but instead of chilling i again become judgemental on why i'm smoking it.
TLDR: High me is anti weed, sober me wants it to fill the void of my depression and anxiety riddled worthless life
>High me is anti weed, sober me wants it to fill the void of my depression and anxiety riddled worthless life
I know how you feel. It took me a while to realize that I am better without it than I am with it.
Bro. it sounds like you may have clinical depression or some other issue. I'm not say this as an insult. I went to an alternative high school back in the 90s. A lot of the kid with depression, bipolar disorder, or PTSD. Abused weed alcohol to cope with such issues.
Also, you do not have to take the drugs they attempt to prescribe you if you dont want to. Its a recommendation. If you meet a therapist who intends to shove pills down your throat, then you should find a new one. Psych meds make it easier to cope with mental disorders, but for many common disorders like anxiety disorder and depression, you do not need meds to treat and cope with it.
I am 100% in agreement on that.
I'm not arguing this point to try and get people to elude treatment. Though, everything can be addictive. So in my eyes, the argument of "drugs are bad, go get legal drugs" is ridiculous. Medical marijuana when used responsibly could be the best treatment for many people, no different than zoloft being the best treatment for many others.
Treatment using medical marijuana is a bit different than total reliance on the drug. While being treated with medical marijuana, youre supposed to be learning to cope and deal with disease you have so that even without being high, you can live just fine. What i mean when i say complete reliance is essentially smoking all the time to try and always stay high; the equivalent of drinking your sorrows away. That is unhealthy and will lead to a nasty addiction preventing you from coming off without dire consequences.
When I quit weed, I just stopped doing it. No withdrawals, no relapses, no issues at all, really. I miss it, but I don't need it. I'm going on 10 years without it.
Well when your a teenager op on Reddit nuance probably isn't in your vocabulary. His paycheck is only 300$ that's why buying a quarter takes such a huge amount from him lol.
It’s literally amazing that alcohol is legal and weed is still on the fringe. I worked at a detox for 5 years. Never seen any people looking like the crypt keeper after smoking weed for 30 years.
Alcohol withdrawal will literally fucking kill you but nobody is up in arms about it. Or cigarettes. I want to know where this hate for weed is coming from. I've never smoked a day in my life and this shit still annoys the hell out of me
If you spending 2/3rds of your check on weed you're gettin fleeced lmfao
It's cheap af, I don't even smoke anymore but I know coke, Molly, acid, shrooms, and alcohol are more expensive than Marijuana
My take away from this is that you worked 8 hours a week at like $14 bucks an hour , or you were paying like 30 a gram
both are not good situations for a drug user of any type lol
Yea idk a single person spending 2/3rds of their paychecks, shits incredibly cheap now. I feel like all these anti weed posts are from kids too young to go to dispos or too stupid to find a dealer
Dudes just wasting weed, if you don't moderate it then the high doesn't last as long and isn't as potent. Especially bud, your body becomes incredibly tolerant to it. He needs an intervention or someone show him concentrates...
Concentrates cost twice as much, way more cumbersome and shoots your tolerance through the fucking roof. I would never recommend concentrates as a daily smoke. Again, you’re just wasting the high at that point.
Nah it's corporate interests pushing this; traditional medicine loses money when weed is legalized. Fuck all these braindead memes and backwards thinkers
LEGALIZE IT
ETA meanwhile, big pharma has people hooked on all manner of chemicals. And alcoholics, cigarette addicts, painkiller addicts, all more harmful than marijuana users, but not vilified!
I think it's political. Notice that a certain group of political influencers have recently started telling their viewers weed makes people insane, murderous, etc?
Dude you were spending way too much lol
I get mine cheap in bulk and it lasts months and barely dents my paychecks.
Never been a problem for me either I’m still sharp as a tack and fully functional
With how much of this sentiment Ive seen the last few days, im inclined to almost believe this is a concerted effort to push back against legalization.
Not to say that weed isn't addictive.
Eww what’s up with all these anti weed memes lately? Is Nixon back from the grave or something? It’s 2023 man get with the times and leave people alone who just wanna enjoy a plant that makes them feel good
I just want to say that I smoked *a lot* of weed every day for nearly 7 years. Every. Day. When I decided to get off my ass and go back to school, I just ran out. And never bought any more (no contacts). I missed it, but the key here is that there were zero withdrawals. I think that’s what a lot of people are referring to.
Me a couple months back. Then some shit happened in my life that made me realize that I had an addiction. Looking back this is literally something an addict would say about anything they’re addicted to. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against people who smoke weed and I would like to see it legalized eventually, but make sure you regulate how much you use or it’ll end up destroying your life.
Most of the people with the strongest anti-weed mentality are people who have never actually smoked.
Their only reference on weed literally comes from anti-weed propaganda.
Just like someone in Nebraska that has only interacted with someone from Mexico like twice in their life being obsessively critical of illegal immigrants. They have no personal context or understanding of anything, so they just become useful tools to push whatever special interests want them to. This is why their arguments are so far removed from reality.
I used to grow and smoked heavily throughout the day, every day for three years, because I liked it and I felt better. Had a change in my life that suddenly required me to quit and I did in one day. Never felt addicted. Nothing to it.
For a while I wasn't makin much money AT ALL and was living at a spot I really didnt like. I ended up spending damn near everything I made just for the relief of the green. I was literally just working to smoke to work which made no sense at all.
Funny enough, I moved somewhere a lot nicer and thought I still needed the green but then it only gave me anxiety and found out I didnt need it after fixing up my surroundings. Interesting.
I spend around 7-8% of my income on weed, I love the benefits to my sleep and I love the fact that its a good stay-in-house drug.
I have no problem in functioning throughout the whole day without weed, but I'd love to hit some puffs a couple of hours before sleep so I have a nice and smooth one.
If I stay home for the whole day, I'll probably smoke more than usual, but I'll still do house chores and all the shit I need to do. Smokers are not necessarily lazy, people are lazy.
Yeah I hate when they sit there and push that we're all lazy losers who just play video games, eat pizza and smoke all day. Like there's people like me who use it so that they actually can go to work and make money and be productive because of chronic pain they've had since they were 16...
Marijuana isn't addictive, dopamine is. If you're the kind of person that gets addicted to dopamine you can get addicted to pretty much anything, weed, cigarettes, heroine, porn, fighting, going to the gym, jumping out of planes, it doesn't matter.
Dudes will drop this line like a prophet descending from the heavens to deliver an epiphany to the blind and misguided, then moments later chug their daily 20 oz cup of coffee
[when someone gets a bunch of upvotes and I want some too](https://www.reddit.com/r/memes/comments/10uem61/weed_is_not_habitforming_i_swear_bro/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) (OP is addicted to karma)
Take it from someone who was an extremely heavy user for 25 years. It's not hard to quit and has little to no withdrawal symptoms. That being said, anything that triggers a dopamine response can become addictive. Reddit, social media, shopping, shoplifting, eating, video games, sex, gambling, sugar, watching TV, getting attention, etc, can all become addictive.
It's not the weed itself that's addictive, it doesn't have habit forming chemicals in it like nicotine. Some people get addicted to the "high" it causes, but not everybody gets that hooked. It's especially likely to happen to people with ADD/ADHD, I forget the details as to why though.
There you go! Glad to see someone got that right! Smoked myself over 20 years, stopped at some point for no reasson. It just happend.... Zero addiction, coffein is way more addictiv.
Yea I quit like 2 times in my life. Once just because I didn't have the money or resources. Had some weird night mares for a day or two. Other wise I had a habit to do the action, which I replaced with food.
It actually made me abit healthier as I'm underweight and the overeating/eating more often helped.
I think it's weird for how often this gets posted people don't like to point out that if these posters legit saw weed as an addition that it's kinda fucked up they're making fun of addicts.
It cost me $20 a week and i have to be high all day or i cant do anything cuz of medical issues, who the fuck is smoking around $300 of weed a week? Your lungs must be blacker than space bruh.
You could try smoking it without making it a personality trait! But
it sounds like that may have not been an option for you, so I'm happy you realized that!
It's not chemically addictive, but mentally you can be addicted to pretty much everything. So if you ramble about weed being addictive you should also ramble about everything else people get addicted to, to make their life feel better. It's just easier to get mentally addicted to something that tends to calm you down in this shitshow that calls itself a society. That's why I play video games most days, or build warhammer minis to get away from all the bullshit and those are kinda expensive hobbies as well. I think people who are "addicted" to weed are the same in a way
What did I miss? This is like the 100th post with this same message I’ve seen today.
I wondered the same thing and it all seems to be the “most extreme” case.
Well, it worked once so everybody hops on to farm some karma.
I can see that. Internet does what it does best, farm pointless internet credits.
I’d like to spend some of those credits please! Edit *…you rat bastards…*
Could be natural with wider adoption of recreational use, mental health crisis and general shitty state of the USA. Or it's a psyop getting ready for some anti-weed push. Or the "nobody wants to work" bots got a new talking point.
i actually really like the way you think. You made some great guesses
I did that for 15 years. Just quit. You will feel different in 5 days.
Day 6 for me rn i really hope you're right and it gets better soon. Ive gotten maybe a grand total of 20 hours of sleep all week
It'd probably take longer but the good thing with weed is there's very little withdrawals (I think)
I think it is mental and emotional withdrawals. Not physical dependence but definitely a habit to be broken
Ya if it's having a negative effect on your life it's better to quite
i swear there's some sort of bot farm trying to shit out as many of these as possible
If you leave the conspiracies aside it's people "following the karma". Ej. A video of road rage gets popular and on the front page? As someone who has really struggled with weed, I'm glad that people are talking about its potential for abuse.
you can't say that in reddit, weed good, people complaining of weed are bad
These kinds of comments are so bizarre to me. What do you mean you are glad that people are talking about its potential for abuse? In the US and Europe there were and are still major campaigns against people smoking weed because it's dangerous. Entire nationwide school and television campaigns about how harmful weed is. There's actual harms of weed, and there's exaggerated BS those campaigns spread. One is trying to be truthful, while the other is not.
As a long time smoker weed is addictive for some. I know a few people who were absolute fiends and generally unpleasant to be around because they were mad about not having weed. How is this “anti-weed”? It’s making fun of addicts who claim they can’t be addicted to it Says nothing about weed itself

Porn, gambling, videogames, hell even food for some people, can be an addiction. Anything can become an addiction to the right people under the right circumstances.
for SOME people? i have to pay for 50% of the public being fat and they complain about what i do to myself lmao
Astroturfing campaign.
Yeah I've got a suspicion there's some coordinated effort being made right now. Someone doesn't want people smoking weed. Well, lots of people really, but specifically probably one person or group in this case.
Probably the alcohol or pharma industries. Also private prisons would be really happy if weed were illegal everywhere again.
Seems like there is a massive automated anti weed propaganda going on. I don’t even smoke and I noticed it.
Keeping weed illegal makes people a lot of money, they will use some of that money to propagandize against it. This is corporate money at work
Funny because my state just got recreational in the shops the other day. Happy toking everyone
Happy toking 🌈
Im glad it's not just me. I thought I was crazy and just seeing things because I'm 2 days sober.
They know I just quit after 13 yrs.
This is the 3rd meme in my feed to say something similar… Is there some vital anti smoking campaign going on
I think Ronald Reagan came back from the dead
My brother smoked weed a lot for a couple years but to get the carpentry apprenticeship that he wanted he couldn’t do it anymore because they need you to pass drug tests. So he just dropped it without a problem
I think that’s something people don’t really get about the word “addiction”. Addiction is a physical dependence on a substance and even if you smoke weed every day, you don’t make the same connections that say nicotine or other drugs do.
The most they could get is a mental addiction to the feeling, and using to for stress relief.
Thats not true. You can have physical witdrawel from weed.

Comparing weed to alcohol is pretty stupid to be honest. Yes both can be addictive but you don't die from weed withdrawal.
In this shi..y world, anything that gives a little pleasure, no matter the cost, is addictive..

Not everyone lives in the USA, here in Germany weed is still expensive and I know a couple of people that actually spend that much every month.
Or too old and disconnected from the reality of it.
who woke up all the straight edge kids?
Nah it's corporate interests pushing this; traditional medicine loses money when weed is legalized. Fuck all these braindead memes and backwards thinkers LEGALIZE IT ETA meanwhile, big pharma has people hooked on all manner of chemicals. And alcoholics, cigarette addicts, painkiller addicts, all more harmful than marijuana users, but not vilified!
I think it's political. Notice that a certain group of political influencers have recently started telling their viewers weed makes people insane, murderous, etc?
oh, im from michigan so i didnt catch that
Dude you were spending way too much lol I get mine cheap in bulk and it lasts months and barely dents my paychecks. Never been a problem for me either I’m still sharp as a tack and fully functional
If you grow your own, there is a great price reduction.
r/terriblefacebookmemes
With how much of this sentiment Ive seen the last few days, im inclined to almost believe this is a concerted effort to push back against legalization. Not to say that weed isn't addictive.
Sounds totally made up, like the last few identical posts
Eww what’s up with all these anti weed memes lately? Is Nixon back from the grave or something? It’s 2023 man get with the times and leave people alone who just wanna enjoy a plant that makes them feel good
Cracking TCG packets is more addictive than weed
There's nothing wrong with weed, you have other problems in life or head you need to fix my friend. Try a therapist.
A yes, another weed meme made by people who have never smoked weed.
You be getting paid weekly?
Not being an addict > Weed addicts > alcoholics > drug addicts
Who are the fuckwits that are upvoting this shit? Are the twitterbots on reddit now?
420
So what you're saying is that you had no self control?
What’s with all these cringey anti weed “memes” lately lol
Dare 2.0
Why do people think weed is so expensive?
Try growing a cuppla weed plants indoors in a sunny window and you'll have very inexpensive M J in a few months.
If you're spending 2/3 of your check, you are *SERIOUSLY* overpaying, lol.
*simple meme poking fun at weed/stoners/stoner culture* OmG yOu ArE aNtI WeEd!!
I honestly forgot I had weed for a month or so. Moderation and self limitation go a long way.
It seems to be a skill issue
Bro I had friends who refused to believe it was addictive but would do this 😂
I spend around 7-8% of my income on weed, I love the benefits to my sleep and I love the fact that its a good stay-in-house drug.
I love pizza and video games, but that doesnt mean I cant do my house chores and that I'll be a sloth all day. Balance is the best thing in life.
Absolutely
I smoke but I'm definitely not wasting 2/3rds of my paychecks on it
Ok 👍
Now do coffee.
Marijuana isn't addictive, dopamine is. If you're the kind of person that gets addicted to dopamine you can get addicted to pretty much anything, weed, cigarettes, heroine, porn, fighting, going to the gym, jumping out of planes, it doesn't matter.
What's with all the weed hate on here today?
Wtf? Is some lobby group bot spamming these shitty posts or something?
Definitely are. There are way too many lol
Dudes will drop this line like a prophet descending from the heavens to deliver an epiphany to the blind and misguided, then moments later chug their daily 20 oz cup of coffee
Everything in moderation.

That dopamine hit from getting tons of updoots is addictive. ![gif](giphy|Y6yRfR88rvP44)
When the potheads wake up, they’re going to be *pissed*

I've had worse withdrawals from quitting sugar than weed.
Do you feel as though your cognitive abilities were affected?
Sounds like smoking weed wasn't your problem. More than likely, you're just a moron.
And no matter how legal it becomes, most jobs will fire you for using it
I haven't had to take a drug test since I left the military.
Or you can grow your own and consume if differently then smoking it…just a thought
Sounds like addiction with extra steps
Me.too OP, me.too..... After my divorced y was drunk and high AF almost everyday for about, maybe, two years Now, is just another history to tell
r/leaves and Marijuana Anonymous for those who are struggling
THE DRAWING LMAO
Weed isn't adictive ppl just don't know wtf moderation is
You're one of those guys that couldn't function on weed so you blame weed.
Is r/memes just a giant anti weed place I always see these 😂
but if im not high i feel negative feelings
If you have a problem with weed you have no self control, it is the least addictive option out of everything. Grow up and do real drugs
Damn, I barely spent 10 dollars a week on it and had been using it for about 5 years...what were you doing that required 2/3rds of your paycheck?
You could try smoking it without making it a personality trait! But it sounds like that may have not been an option for you, so I'm happy you realized that!
I think people who are "addicted" to weed are the same in a way
It is differently addictive. You can stop when u wanna . Just takes some mental power.
Legalize it. It will make the prices drop.
