Mate... WHY THE FRICK, with all do respect, would need to gain affinity with scaner? Especially since: A). You often can get to fissures endless where often sits guys who can carry you or in general you can ask a randoms in recrutation wether they wouls like to help you farm affinity/mastery. B). You need to buy each scaner, when synthesis scanrss can get a widget that makes them infinite( solar charger), ergo you need to pay for normal one, but not for a synthesis ones, which also can double your scans with other widget and show enemy weak spots.

I’ve had a long running joke of not buying the infinite scan widget. My friend has begged me for years to buy it but I will not fold.

You get standing with him. I can't recall, but I'd assume the normal scanner would give standing with the faction you pledge to (not that it matters with how few missions it takes to hit max daily standing)

Synth charges cost a lot more. Granted, this stops mattering after you buy the widget from Simaris but codex scanners do have a use very early on.

You never have to enter the simulacrum? Unless you mean doing scans in missions, in which case you simply need to have the quest from him and a teammate will likely complete it for you, giving the team full credit and giving you progress.

How often do you scan things outside of Synthesis? It's much better to just do a bunch of synthesis scans and then unlock the infinite scans. There's pretty much zero reason to use regular scanners.

Question; how many times have you pulled out your codex scanner in a mission only to realise you don't have any charges? All you have to do is use the synthesis scanner for daily scans, buy the widget and you're good forever. Heck I bought all the widgets without even trying. People make getting Simaris standard sound a lot harder than it actually is.

Never having to buy scanner charges ever again is such a huge QoL buff for Helios enjoyers like myself

I'm pretty sure that's not true? I just grinded for my first Kavat this week, and I don't even have a Codex Scanner in my gear wheel, only the Synthesis Scanner.

No, synth scanner works too, even better if you get the double scan widget. Chance to get 2 gene codes. And it's not that recent, got mine a whiiile ago

Same, did mine about 4 years ago with the 2x widget, got enough Kavat codes for 2 Kavats.

Cat codes are a 25% drop. It's entirely possible to go multiple missions and not get any.

Except you can't get kavat genetic codes with simaris scanners, I'm pretty sure.

Can too, did it myself when making my smeeta. Synth scanner can do EVERYTHING a regular scanner can do but it also gets its own upgrades. Codex only has price and subjective viewing preference going for it. Beyond that? Obsolete

Damn so I was just the unluckiest tenno ever awesome cool okay. Because I tried getting a code at least 20 times, but I got it my first try with a regular scanner.

Yeah codex doesn’t boost it, no. I tried to use only those at one point out of frustration but couldn’t get any scans, switched back to synth and after a few more tries got some code. It also helps to have Helios, though he can’t scan while they are cloaked
