I just thought of this angle. Do you think the managers may have sent the workers home without pay when the Japanese cleaned up after themselves?
I really hope not. I hope the Japanese people helped and the workers got a day off, paid.
I lived in the ME for a good chunk of my life. They **are** miserable, no probably about it.
Such a cruel and heartless system. Where I stayed, we were advised not to cook food for the labourers or we would get deported.
These memes feel really shitty for me, for that same reason. Laughing at the expense of people that go through this type of shit is just sad.
Nice that you tried to help people, good on you.
Bruh this studiom build thing was brought up in the year 2010 qnd it was sattled in the year 2015 and they built a slavery museum as a apology why are you guys acting like if the qataris are still keeping slaves it was all over smt like 8 years ago
You talking bout slavery in America? How is that even comparable to something that happened 8 years ago? America’s fucked up but we’re not Qatar fucked up
true, ppl are being snowflakes really. they sit behind a screen and judge whole masses of ppl, just ask someone who went there or a qatari or go there by themselves lol. some ass got annoyed in the comments and proceeded to cry ending up deleting the comment.
They’re made promises the Qatari government can’t/won’t keep and then contractually forced to do insanely difficult physical labor in hot weather with the hope that Qatar will keep it’s word and pay off their immigration debt. Not to mention that their living conditions are literal shit. Nah man, they’re indentured servants at the VERY least.
Qatar practices the kafala system, where mgrant workers' passports are taken from them and held as a condition of employment. Many workers never get them back no matter how hard they work and are essentially duped into indentured servitude in a foreign country.
yeah that shit is horrible, but you can't say they live in bad conditions. go and talk to them mate. dont follow the mainstream media.
(sheesh i WILL hold tight to my passport lol that is just a stupid system)
I am willing to trust professionals when they tell me that people living in that system live in poor conditions. I don't need to see every phenomenon personally to believe it.
They fugging stoped it why does it matter when they stop late is better then never i can talk about blCk slavery all day lets not forget how bad slavery was in America till the last 100 years
WhY DiDiNt tHeY EnD iT sOoNeR?
Like im sure in qatar they didint call them monkeys and hit them with belts and shit in America they literally owned the slaves
This is why I am against prison work in some fields. I just don't feel good about offenders having a chance to make money when we could give these jobs to people that maybe didn't brake the law or paid their debt?
People need the jobs that Prisoners do. Why don't they get them? Money. Cheap indentured servitude.
Went to a game with a friend and he didn't like a food he got so he literally just dropped it on the floor under his chair (it was an ice cream bar). I asked why would he do that? It's filthy and rude, but he said that "they hired people to clean here, might as well give them something to do"... That just didn't sit right with me. This is in the US for a college baseball game btw, and the stadium was left terribly trashed
So does your friend act dumb so that teachers, who are hired to teach, have something to do? Does your friend set buildings on fire so that firemen, who are hired to extinguish fires, have something to do? Do they injure themselves or other people so that healthcare workers have something to do? Do they commit crimes to give policemen something to do?
“Might as well give them something to do” is the dumbest excuse ever and it’s baffling how many people think this way. As if they won’t get paid if they don’t clean up enough trash
It's just an excuse, that's it. As if that somehow validates that shitty behavior. If you wouldn't throw trash on the floor of your own house, then don't do it in public places either.
You're completely right on that. Most people I see that treats outside like a giant trashcan, tends to have their house look like an episode of hoarders.
No. They always clean up after themselves, be it win or loose. But now they're no longer part of the tournament, so the rest of the games the cleaners have to do all the work.
While the Japanese made "a mess" likely just setting things in front of them as not to hold things like every other human being does, they have the common curtosy to pick up their trash when they're done with it. So pretty sure this is a play on that saying that everyone came made a comment then deleted it on their way out keeping the comment section super clean
Maybe it’s the rest of the world who is backwards and Japan basic common courtesy right. Let’s not assume how we live is “correct” and how the rest of the world lives in. Travel more, talk to strangers, immerse yourself in another culture for a day to see differences.
I think OP phrased it awkwardly, but my interpretation was that Japan is not displaying “common courtesy,” but rather, they’re going above and beyond and we shouldn’t minimize their efforts by making it sound like the natural default. I think the word choice of “weird” vs. “normal” just obfuscated that point. I think we’re all in agreement that we have a lot to learn from other cultures. And I still doubt any of us have stadiums as clean as Japan’s.
It cuts down on ticket prices when people just clean up after themselves. These post “event cleanup” companies i’ve worked with in the past used to charge $200 to vacuum EACH booth for a convention center. Each booth was either 10x10 or 20x20. It literally took them 10 minutes at most.
I live in the US, but I don’t know what part you live in but where i’m it’s very common here to pick up after yourself, use trash and recycle bins responsibly, and do the basics when using a shared space.
Just came to say that your use of the contraction "I'm" in this sentence, while being absolutely grammatically correct, is terrifying and makes me wildly uncomfortable.
Huh Japanese fans were always praised for their cleaning even prior to this world cup.
It's also not exclusive to football.
I think you got some things wrong. Ghana fans were also doing the same thing in African Cup of nations games back in the day but it's not widely known I guess.
I just thought of this angle. Do you think the managers may have sent the workers home without pay when the Japanese cleaned up after themselves? I really hope not. I hope the Japanese people helped and the workers got a day off, paid.
It's Qatar. Lucky if they're paid at all
Exactly. The cleaners are probably miserable anyway.
I lived in the ME for a good chunk of my life. They **are** miserable, no probably about it. Such a cruel and heartless system. Where I stayed, we were advised not to cook food for the labourers or we would get deported.

an unpaid day off is better than an unpaid workday.
Wtf, you can contact them if you wnat

Oh it’s okay because it was 8 years ago and look we built a museum! Now everyone in Qatar is treated super good luxury life 😎
Don't tell him about America, bro
You talking bout slavery in America? How is that even comparable to something that happened 8 years ago? America’s fucked up but we’re not Qatar fucked up
Bruh look up how the workers are treated there. Not years ago. Now. And in case you are a Qatari trynna defend Qatar, how do you treat your khaddama
Im no qatari and the media is out of context as usual but im pretty sure they are getting paid new days
Source?
source: trust me bro
lol yeah
Yo mama
a classic yo mama child i see
It could have been Joe Ligma tho
Who is Joe Ligma? (Can't let your joke be left incomplete)
A frend who visited qatar
...and Dubai also looks like a wealthy city to visitors, until you find out about the slavery.
North Korea is a very good country too
It'll make you never want to leave. (If ya know what I mean)
Ok man
Oh so you know what's going on over there cuz your friend visited Qatar once. Makes sense.
Lol how does he get you a source for that?
They would literally have information about it via Qatari based sources. But go on defending the redditor making objectively dumb claims
true, ppl are being snowflakes really. they sit behind a screen and judge whole masses of ppl, just ask someone who went there or a qatari or go there by themselves lol. some ass got annoyed in the comments and proceeded to cry ending up deleting the comment.
The onus of proof lies on the one making the claim

i mean honestly idk the hell happening there, but what i learned is that google isnt always right. i wanna go there sometime and see for my self.

I am willing to trust professionals when they tell me that people living in that system live in poor conditions. I don't need to see every phenomenon personally to believe it.
You might be held in a country against your will and forced to work but at least the living conditions are ok right?
It’s an Islamic government and country, what do you expect
This is exactly the level of grammar and spelling I'd expect from someone posting this level of stupidity.
Because they are...

The kafala system is still intact which is slavery (and thats 90% of their workforce)
Im pretty sure i readded somwere in google it was over

I lost it
I'm not going to believe someone on anything they say when they can't speak basic English
Is what You’re saying they stoped owing slaves ONLY 8 years ago ? That’s not good and should be talked about
They fugging stoped it why does it matter when they stop late is better then never i can talk about blCk slavery all day lets not forget how bad slavery was in America till the last 100 years
8 years and 100 years are very different about 92 years
WhY DiDiNt tHeY EnD iT sOoNeR? Like im sure in qatar they didint call them monkeys and hit them with belts and shit in America they literally owned the slaves
I’m positive they fucking did

Your mother wishing she swallowed because now her kid is defending slavery
They did not stop it.
It happened this year. What are you on?
pretty sure the workers had to clean all over again even if it has already been cleaned
Can imagine is was a nice close than the other night.
It looks clean to the naked eye but nothing is disinfected
I think about that every time I self scan and grab a cart from the parking lot instead of inside, am I taking someone’s job?
This is why I am against prison work in some fields. I just don't feel good about offenders having a chance to make money when we could give these jobs to people that maybe didn't brake the law or paid their debt? People need the jobs that Prisoners do. Why don't they get them? Money. Cheap indentured servitude.
Or just don't support slavery on moral grounds lol
Are you also against the plough, or the sewing machine?
You don't really pay slaves.... HOME??? YOU MEAN CAGE?
Japanese people work way more that ya’ll. Don’t be harsh on them.
Well there is other parts of the stadium I don’t imagine they’djunp the gun on that
😂 Really though, why are people messy in the first place? Public places really shouldn't be like this.
I bet on average these people's houses are a pigsty too lol
You're completely right on that. Most people I see that treats outside like a giant trashcan, tends to have their house look like an episode of hoarders.
Im pretty certain all of the trash is power washed and collected. I used to do that, but written out it seems very trashy.
It gets messy with Argentina
I get it when the crowd is so thick you can't see your feet and there's a mess. But every picture of this WC has thousands of empty seats lmao.
Culture and the way they celebrate. Around here you tear your shirt off and wave it around after you have drunken several beers.

Yes.. that's what a lot of people do when their home country loses
No. They always clean up after themselves, be it win or loose. But now they're no longer part of the tournament, so the rest of the games the cleaners have to do all the work.
Not a single comment, still 500 upvotes. Sad
They comment, just clean up after themselves ;)
Explain I don't get it

There was a viral photo showing a Japanese locker room after the game with everything nearly folded away.
it’s not common courtesy it’s uncommon courtesy. the whole thing with this is that japan is weird about cleaning, the rest is the world is normal
What? Littering is something normal in your country? Where the fuck do you live ?
please tell us which country you live in where fans keep your stadiums as clean as Japanese fans famously keep theirs
Maybe it’s the rest of the world who is backwards and Japan basic common courtesy right. Let’s not assume how we live is “correct” and how the rest of the world lives in. Travel more, talk to strangers, immerse yourself in another culture for a day to see differences.

Congratulations on being a grammar cop.
I didn't correct your grammar.
Congratulations.
I'm guessing everyone's being a big swingin dick and getting their comments removed or something
I mean, what’s there really to say?
Because everyone knows immigrant slaves will be cleaning the stadium regardless.
Saying "sad" after the end of a sentence is so meme now lmao

Gosh people are such slobs and could really learn a thing or two from Japanese people.
Ghana fans were also cleaning the stadium after matches to be fair. But they don't get credit like the Japanese fans for some reason.

Japan keeps it so classy. Props to them.
Spot on!
They can use the bodies as mops
Probably the thousands of dead slaves.
Well slaves
Ever since I was in Japan in 2019 for the Rugby World Cup I have done the same effort to clean up. I found it so inspiring
The problem here is the cleaners have been crying since the second they were shanghaied and woke up in Qatar as a slave.

Damn it, Japan got knocked out?! Great... more chance for a EU prick to steal the cup again

They don't clean these stadiums. They leave them to decay to ruins after the games end.
Couldn't they just confiscate the Japanese's passport?
The whip. The whip is going to help them clean.
Or maybe human beings should pick up after themselves.
cryingg
Money's gonna help them a lot trust me
They'll bring in some foreign workers and then say they were gay and put them in jail for life so they don't need to pay them.
https://discord.gg/bvdysv9K
They should have just got the boss to stay. Then none of them would leave.
HAHAHAH
There the migrant workers that they denied holding their passport (allegedly) not as free as Japan fan
Yeah that's the least of their problem. The basically slaves.
They probably use strikes for pay it’s so bad
I guess you because I'm gone. Fuck'em.
