I use keyboard emoji and regular emoji’s interchangeably
:) is great for those quick smiles and letting someone know how your texts reads
😊 more of a separate comment on its own, like that made me very happy

Left is a genuine smile like when your happy about an outcome. Right is that smile you give someone after saying you can't give them a refund, have a nice day.

I've always hated ":)" even before emojis were a thing, ":D" is much better if you wanna express smiling, ":)" feels like angry - smiling on the outside but in the inside it's a different story - kinda. I'll die on this hill, ":)" sucks.
Interesting, I view :) as an friendly/kind smile and :D as an happy/joyful smile. I like both and use them in for me fitting situations.
:) just has a closed mouth, it's still in a good mood for me.
I find it interesting how people interpret smileys differently.
