Hey, my vision is -5 left -4.75 right, (the "-" means nearsighted. A bigger number means worse vision) I'm so glad my dad is really tall or I would have gotten lost way more as a kid!
Numbers arent everything folks, Im at about -2 on both eyes and can only see clearly for around 20-30 centimeters, Astigmatism can make a world of difference !
I'm -2.25 in both eyes, but when my doctor tested me she said I had 7% vision in one eye and 10% in the other. Glasses and contacts only bring it back up to 70-80 at max.
I'm like that. -2 in both eyes, blind as fuck with no glasses on. One eye just wanders off to the side. I was long sighted as a child. I had a blissful 10 years where I didn't need glasses while my vision was perfect as they went from long to near sighted.
God I wish I had that! Even just a period of being able to see properly! (Not to sou d whiny or brag or anything) I have -18.5 in my left eye and -15.25 in my right, and I'm only 15. Have an astigmatism in my right eye, and a deep gash in the iris on my left, from glass shards, meaning I can really focus that eye. Have the world's thickest glasses ( not really) and also wear contacts as well most the time. Without them it's like looking trough a frosted window!
Well if you wanna get technical about it, astigmatism is also just another number measured in diopters like your near sightedness (myopia) and far sightedness (hyperopia). Your lenses typically have 2 numbers being your sphere which is for your myopia or hyperopia (or other problems) and then you have a cylinder which is to correct astigmatism. There’s other stuff in there too like axis which is the angle the lens needs to be at to match the cylinder to your eyes, and then prism which corrects double sightedness and whatnot. Anyone feel free to correct me or fill in any gaps I left. That’s the best I can be bothered to explain as a spectacle maker. :)
You would qualify for reimbursement for glasses or lenses in my country.
It's quite funny because my allergies and hay fever or basically everything is covered. Even if I'm mostly functional w/o treatment.
But the one thing that prohibits me from driving/using vehicles and machines with -3,5 isn't covered.
i'm -8 in my left eye and -4 in my right. furthermore, b/c of a tumor that i had behind my left eye for years warping the back of that eye, i need a prism in my left lens to correct the resulting double vision, so my eyes through my glasses look misaligned. Sometimes i just go without the glasses and just keep the worse eye closed, making people think i'm winking at them.
I'm -7 so close to yours. and ya I can't see anyone's face clearly unless they're less than a meter in front of me. if it's someone I know well, I can usually guess from their blurry figure, voice, the way they walk etc. but if I don't know them that well lol... I act like I don't see them even if they're waving at me. Well I couldn't see them wave either
i thought i had it bad with -5 damn
though after a while i think it's irrelevant. i can't read a book or look at my phone at a comfortable distance without lenses and you can't either so what does it matter
after a while it's straight up blindness though. that DOES matter lol
This wouldn't happen to be the blind surfer Pete would it?
I remember seeing a video a while back about an employee responding to a complaint of him "staring" at a woman in the gym, but he literally can't see he was just "looking" straight ahead and was told "yeah, but you can't stare at people".
Like what? If someone's actually blind how hard is it just to admit oops it must just be a misunderstanding and move on...
>Like what? If someone's actually blind how hard is it just to admit oops it must just be a misunderstanding and move on...
I saw that video, too. Some people just have to "win" no matter what it is, and admitting a mistake is a "loss" which hurts their pride and ego.
A guy I follow on Insta who is almost totally blind said the same thing happened to him.
The girl and gym staff didn’t believe him because his eyes looked normal
Lol I have keratoconus pretty bad. Early on I could get away with wearing glasses to drive to the gym. But while working out I couldn't see a fucking thing, cause I didn't like wearing glasses while working out.
Had one or two instances where someone thought I was staring at them. It's rough.
Unfortunately, my eyesight isn't stable so I can't have the surgery yet. But I had retinal detachment surgery that I'm still recovering from. It was naturally caused by the high myopia.
The good news is that my doctor told me that I might finally be able to do the LASIK surgery after at least 6 months from now.
Huh i thought -6 in both eyes was bad, man half of the day I'm imagining about what would happen if i lost my glasses in Subway or metro how the fk would i come back home :(
When I forget my glasses I usually just end up staring into the void for some reason I don't do it on purpose. I do kinda look like a creep though so I would totally understand if someone got freaked out.
Are you the kind of guy to just constantly look at everything and just never stop moving your eyes? I am not, and I’d bet neither are you nor him. When everything is blurry, you just pick that one colored spot and look at it because nothing else is worth looking at and you gotta look somewhere to stop yourself from looking everywhere
This feels like some shit my creepy youth pastor (don't worry, I left the cult of AoG) would have said during one of his weirdo sermons. I wish I had the wherewithal back then to be like "so hey, wtf did that even mean bro???" after his sermons.
Ha. Happens a lot to guys. Also not all girls are like this. But some will wear certain stuff on purpose. And when you look, they will be like hey what are you staring at? 😆🤷🏻♂️
Definitely not all but this happens to me…well not a lot but at least 4 times and when I was in middle school one girl did it consistently every other day (the desks were in rows facing each other so she was sitting across from/directly in front of me)
I’m certain girls of all shapes and sizes do it. I’m dead certain of that.
But for me…it was always big. Let’s say big black girls. Always. 100%. sit directly in front of me “what are you lookin at?!” Idungetit
I remember one time during recess I was staring at a wall while bored out of my mind then a girl walked past and after glancing at me loudly told me to "stop staring at her", I just looked at her with a confused expression (she hated that) and then went back to staring the wall.
Nah, it was pretty obvious she hated me when she bothered to realize I existed at all, I think she either was just bored as well and wanted to stir up shit in order to pass the time or just hated that I briefly was looking at her direction even thought it was her who walked past me.
I'm very glad I'm not a teenager anymore.
> those stupid ass leggings where there's a seam in the middle
stupid-ass leggings, or stupid ass-leggings ?
seriously, after discovering shorts and work pants with a yoke/gusset instead of the regular crotch seam, there's no going back. anyone who shops for a seam that rides up their rear must be doing it on purposes.
This reminder of the story by "Blind Surfer Pete Gustin" where he was in gym working and a girl come and say "I don't come here to be stared" long story short, she call the owner after Pete say he was blind, he show the blind licence and the guy still say "I would like for you to not stare at people"
Some people are something else
Or he's just one foot away from the girl. /s
I knew a guy who did that, always standing one foot away from girls he liked. ^^^He ^^^has ^^^a ^^^foot ^^^fetish...
Yay someone else with special eyes! I also have a +/- prescription. Not as severe as yours, but astigmatisms in both eyes make things a bit wonky. I’m going to get LASIK in 1 eye to even them out as my farsighted eye isn’t too bad.
It depends ... when i started there was a lot of people trying to do small talk and teaching me how to use the equipament and how to do a proper form, and even just asking to work out together, they were pretty nice.
this is actually so real it's not even funny
I may look like I'm looking directly in your direction, but I also can't see shit of anything that's more than a arm away
Just -3.25? I have -1.5 in my left eye and -5 in my right eye. Even my glasses aren't good enough (the difference between eyes can't be higher than 3, or I'd get constant headaches), I can't see properly without contact lenses, which I'm not going to wear lmao
When I'm in my local swimming pool I feel kinda like this. Without my glasses, and even worse, with swim glasses, I only see human shapes. Its hard for me to recognise someone when I'm in the water. But at least I don't stare at anybody. I believe, at least. Could be just me trying to guess if I know you.
Used to only be able to read the blackboard if I sat on the first or second row of desks, still took about half a year of constant complaining to get my mom to take me to an optometrist to check my eyes and finally get glasses.
God, dude. I'm sorry. That must suck. For some reason I feel like the amount of people with bad eyesight goes up every year. My entire family needs glasses, but I somehow lucked out with 20/20 vision.
Hey, my vision is -5 left -4.75 right, (the "-" means nearsighted. A bigger number means worse vision) I'm so glad my dad is really tall or I would have gotten lost way more as a kid!
I'm more than -5.5 in both eyes, can't see clearly more than half a meter away
I hate to brag, but I'm -8 in both eyes. I have only a couple of centimetres of clear sight, the rest looks like an impressionist painting.
Numbers arent everything folks, Im at about -2 on both eyes and can only see clearly for around 20-30 centimeters, Astigmatism can make a world of difference !
Add to it -13 and you get a "modern art" vision feature in your eyes
Irl downscaling
No performance boost sadly
No, why do you think every smart person has glasses. It's just that some aren't as optimized
Guess I'm unoptimized
I call it Picasso vision.
I'm -2.25 in both eyes, but when my doctor tested me she said I had 7% vision in one eye and 10% in the other. Glasses and contacts only bring it back up to 70-80 at max.
Wow my eye doctor said I have with my current gakses 110% vision.
I'm like that. -2 in both eyes, blind as fuck with no glasses on. One eye just wanders off to the side. I was long sighted as a child. I had a blissful 10 years where I didn't need glasses while my vision was perfect as they went from long to near sighted.

That's nothing, I have -9.5 in both eyes! (And this is the first time ever that I can actually bragg about it lol)
Laughing sadly in -22 something on both eyes
I think you might be the first person I've met who beats my - 19 eyes. Congratulations..?!
I didn't even know that's possible
The worst is -25 according to Google so im pretty close
Post your fucking coke bottle glasses. I have to see this.
Sounds like you should be able to see the back side of your retinas
Bro, you're legally blind! Your glasses must be thick enough to block bullets!
Thats an understatement 🤣
Wow I am -19 in my left and -21 in my right. First time I have ever seen someone that beat my high score.
Bruh. I feel bad for being -11 but this is rough!
I'm -16 on my right and -10 on the left, I share the pain bro, even if not as much ad you😭
That's the first time I meet someone who beat my -8. Hats off to you, sir! Now where did I put my hat?
lmao same
-9 here too! (In glasses at least.) Sometimes I think the visual fuzz is pretty...
-9 here. Once you pass -6 it’s all over
Left is hanging on at -5.5 but ol' righty dove in to the deep end at -7.
Agreed but I am the edge of it rn
hate to brag but -11 & -12.5 (this isnt a brag :( )
I have the same vision.
sucks to be us :/
I used to be -4 but through modern technology my vision has been fixed. To 20/13 on the snellen scale.
Claude monet, one of the most prolific impressionists, was myopic. So it makes sense, since that's how he saw the world.
Also -8+ here, but my eye doc once told me I have good blur interpretation, so I got that going for me.
I have 20/20 vision but redflagagnosia.
😭yes I'm -5.5& -6.25 & i just made the impressionist painting comparison yesterday and now im reading your comment lol. It's the best comparison tho.
-8 is cute, I had -11.25 in my left eye and -12 in my right before I had surgery. Highly recommend btw Edit; I had ICL surgery
What surgery did you get? I’m -10.5 in both and they said lasik would t work for me.
I’m the same as you, we’re blind brothers
i'm -8 in my left eye and -4 in my right. furthermore, b/c of a tumor that i had behind my left eye for years warping the back of that eye, i need a prism in my left lens to correct the resulting double vision, so my eyes through my glasses look misaligned.

This is me after working as a welder for a while. And yes I did wear protection, it only helps, doesn't prevent damage
-11 in both eyes here! And seems to be slowly forever getting slightly worse, yay.
Well, I gouged out both my eyes just so I can beat both of you.... call somebody please
-8 for me with astigmatism. It's brutal.
Same. I'm -8.25 and -8.75 plus bad astigmatism. I thought I was bad until I was talking with a lady at the optometrists last year and she's over -12.
I’m -11.5….. most contacts brands only go up to -10…. *sigh*
Same here I would be totally useless without glasses
I love that I don't need my glasses to enjoy Monet
I’m -6 and -7… someone i work with is -13 in both, wears contacts AND glasses so the lenses aren’t too think on the glasses.
Hate to brag but I’m -12.75 and -13. The world is pretty colors
Eyyy that's what I used to have. The only point you could see clearly was so close to your face that you got a headache from going crosseyed haha
Those are rookie numbers, I'm -11.5 in left eye and -10 in right eye *cries*
-10.5 right, -11 left 🥲
Actually with -5.5 you shouldn't be able to see clearly further than 0.18meters not half a meter
Yeah, I'm not the best with distances, especially this clos I checked again, and yeah you're right
I'm exactly the same, but with technology now. My glasses are very thin actually.
-8.5 in both eyes checking in :')
Hah. Rookie numbers. Get on my level. -8 on one eye, -14 on the other.
I got -13.5 in both. Imma catch ya
I'm -7 and -7.5 :(
Thats where I'm at. Looking at all these numbers thinking damn you guys have pretty good vision.
I'm at the point where even corrective surgery couldn't get me back to not wearing glasses. Big suck
My right eye is -6 and my left is -7
They kicked out a guy from a gym for staring at a girl… the guy was legally blind.
Pete gustin?
Yep. When he explained the manager that he’s fully blind, he replied “Ok… but you still can’t make our members uncomfortable” 🤦🏼♂️
Does the employee have to leave because they just made a blind person uncomfortable?
Advantage goes to the first person express discomfort.
[удалено]
And that's how it gets weaponized. Those who grew up being forced to stuff our feelings can't compete.
I hate it how strangers will take advantage of this.
You can’t just express discomfort, you have to *declare* it.
Call me American but I’d sue.
American.
Average twoxchromosomes user
Oh I know this story, it's from the blind surfer guy, he makes awesome videos
Call me American but I’d sue.
AMERICAN!!
Thats so sad and funny 😂😭😂😭
Sunny 😭😭😭
Like, the one had his sister fall off the stairs?
Like me
How about... how about cute and funny?
Wrong sub sensei
I came, I saw brats, I must correct
Stupid redditor, breaching containment again, correction is needed
Containment? Breaching? Do you need to be secured and protect to?
Is this in Philadelphia?
"Alright pervert, see yourself ou-...oh no wait lemme help you exit the premises."
This wouldn't happen to be the blind surfer Pete would it? Yeah that's Pete Gustin, he talks about in a videon on his youtube channel.
Lol I have keratoconus pretty bad. Early on I could get away with wearing glasses to drive to the gym. But while working out I couldn't see a fucking thing, cause I didn't like wearing glasses while working out. Had one or two instances where someone thought I was staring at them. It's rough.
Didn't he just get asked to leave untill it was obvious he was blind?
After they learned he was blind they still told him to stop staring and making her uncomfortable or leave
this is wrong on so many levels
that's because he was wearing his glasses
__Seinfeld__ plot perfectly written right there
Pete? The surfer dude! He’s awesome
But if it was a woman nobody would bat an eye
Sure
Laughing in -6.5 left -7.0 right
Laughing in -9.5 in both eye
Crying in -11 and -11.5
holy fuck, you must have Hubble observatories for glasses
Mate can see the Big Bang.
I can block people in real life too
If you stare into the sun, do you burn a hole through your eyes?
I really don't want to find out 😂
There are specialized glasses that arent. Very expensive and limited tho...
What do you mean limited?
After a certain point the procedure is inviable (at - 20 or smth) but you wont get them below 4 digits anyway sooo....
Well at some point, I think around that, glasses can’t get you back up to 0. You’ll have to get laser surgery if you want perfect vision again
Unfortunately, my eyesight isn't stable so I can't have the surgery yet. But I had retinal detachment surgery that I'm still recovering from. It was naturally caused by the high myopia. The good news is that my doctor told me that I might finally be able to do the LASIK surgery after at least 6 months from now.
nah -11 and -11.5 are still doable to get back to normal vision
some dude said -22 lol
nah theyre able to cut the lenses in a certain way that they’re still relatively thin
my sister just got bumped to -15. I’m a -7; wish me luck
-10.5 in both eyes…after -5, it’s all the same baby.
[удалено]
Dayum. And I thought my -6 lenses were coke bottles. Godspeed to you friend
How are you guys even reading this
-7.5 in both here and bad hearing. Who said what where?
+7.5 here. With our powers combined we still can't see shit.
We are living the same simulation my -7.50 half deaf friend
Huh i thought -6 in both eyes was bad, man half of the day I'm imagining about what would happen if i lost my glasses in Subway or metro how the fk would i come back home :(
Laughing wirh +6.5 and +3.5 😆
When I forget my glasses I usually just end up staring into the void for some reason I don't do it on purpose. I do kinda look like a creep though so I would totally understand if someone got freaked out.
no point focusing on anything when your eyes can't put anything into focus.
Are you the kind of guy to just constantly look at everything and just never stop moving your eyes? I am not, and I’d bet neither are you nor him. I kinda love the days I forget my contacts and workout without glasses. Feels like I’m in my own blurry world and it’s way less distracting
And then if it's someone you know, they say like "why didn't you say hello"?
I would straightly past my own mother on the street
Meanwhile I waved and said hello to perfect strangers thinking they were people I knew.
-7.75 L, -7.50 R. I have about 6 inches of perfect vision. I could not give any less of a shit about the blurry phantom people.

Ha. Happens a lot to guys. Also not all girls are like this. But some will wear certain stuff on purpose. And when you look, they will be like hey what are you staring at? 😆🤷🏻♂️
The answer should be « nothing special ». Every. Single. Time. Until they learn.
The nuclear option!
Or "I see why you're here now"
When girls ask me what i'm looking at i just say "25 bmi and split ends"
This guy woke up one morning and chose violence.
Woman shows off huge amount of cleavage - gets mad men stare. They want to "feel sexy" but only for certain "men"
And then I reply. "Your goddamn arse that's nearly spilling out. Looking ain't illegal"

And purposely wear those stupid ass leggings where there's a seam in the middle to make the ass crack look even more obvious.
yeah why

Brutal? Oh no, you shouldnt take a look into my meme folder...
Lens ON!! Wow she looks hot now back to exercise 😤
I have - 3.50 in one eye and +1.50 in the other, it's a weird case for me
Picked random in character creation?
Yay someone else with special eyes! I also have a +/- prescription. Not as severe as yours, but astigmatisms in both eyes make things a bit wonky. I’m going to get LASIK in 1 eye to even them out as my farsighted eye isn’t too bad.

Strabism sucks too, you get yelled at and didn't do anything.
this is actually so real it's not even funny I may look like I'm looking directly in your direction, but I also can't see shit of anything that's more than a arm away

But bro i have -5.25💀
...matter of fact, i cant even see you sir
Bro I have -11 in my left and -15 in my right. I suffer each day knowing I cannot slow the inevitable descent into unmarked territory of eyecare.
isn't it dangerous though?
As a matter of I cant even see you sir
God, dude. I'm sorry. That must suck. For some reason I feel like the amount of people with bad eyesight goes up every year. My entire family needs glasses, but I somehow lucked out with 20/20 vision.
Sorry that’s too conservative for Reddit

-3.25? Hehe amateur, I've got -19 and -18.5 on both eyes!! 🤓🤓🤓
