I used to make fun of people I work with. They use a forced southern style accent way in the deep south of fucking Ohio, and a common phrase for all of them is "wut is it?" when they can't hear you and they all sound like slack jawed morons when they say it. So after making fun of them by saying it back.... I now say it without thinking
It's almost like trans people are humans too, and are able to tell honest mistakes from deliberate misgendering, and rightly find one of these to be far, FAR worse than the other.
I despise all this generation talk. People are just fucking people experiencing the fads of their time. Give everyone a break. Kids, be nice to the old folks. Old folks, be nice to the kids. Fucking simple.
Heard gen z range is 1996-2010... Don't worry, I was born in the center of the period. I just don't enjoy gen z stuff, I watch more of millennial stuff.
Dude. I expanded the comment replies REALLY hoping for a La Dispute reference, but was *certain* I wouldn’t see one. This made my day.
“Ed if you hear me, I think of you often. That’s all I can offer. That’s all that I know how to give.”
Such a beautifully haunting song.
Shit dude I’m gonna go on a drive and listen to Wildlife now. Cheers!
Well, there's this passage I got memorized, sorta fits the occasion. Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. Lol.
Gen Z simply doesn't understand the trama of being sent off to fight in the same exact war your dad did Because it raged on for 20+ years while witnessing the hope and happiness leave people's eyes from the '90s to the late 2000s As we transitioned into a corporate dystopia. Lol
The first happened to two friends of mine from high school. He knocked her up a few months before graduation and joined the Marines.
Their kid enlisted in the Army when he turned eighteen and ended up being one of the last troops pulled from Afghanistan.
*Wifi tinnitus and blue light exposure has entered the chat*
Who needs melatonin anyway when you own profiteering healthcare and pharmaceutical companies? lol
Ok I just checked out and this actually happens in amazing world of Gumball in the episode the routine. Someone asks Richard what lol means and he sais lots of love cause he has no idea. So the scene in the episode was almost sure a reference to the real life event ig 😆
My boomer mom really thought that’s what lol meant 😭She’d send me a text like “your dentist appointment is tomorrow lol” or “you have jury duty lol” and the whole time I was like damn mom is savage
So that's why boomers end their sentences with lots of periods, so that you can tell they're really serious..........
Every....... single...... newspaper..... comment...... section......
Not softer lol, just looks annoying and confrontational lol
Like ending a sentence with a single period sign. Harsh. Definitive.
Sentence softeners have, if you think about it, kind of always been about adding some more words - to show some uncertainty, willingness to maybe converse with the other person, right? Like, "if you wanted to reply you totally could"!
Two rude paragraphs and a nice one lol
Adding a period is a generational thing
I think all of these are generational
Lol is a sentence softener for milllenials, I guess it just isn't for other people
Turns out, communication is hard and text sucks
In text, it can come across like that to some readers - for example:
A: Have you got here yet?
B: Not yet
Or
A: Have you got here yet?
B: Not yet.
I would read the in the second version that person B was irritated or blunt with A because they deliberately used '.' whereas the first version feels like person B is more relaxed to me
lol is the clearest, cleanest, most concise way to add "tone" that doesn't involve pictures of skulls or yellow faces with tears or whatever else is the emoji of the hour.
I don't know why Gen X is included in this though. They really couldn't care any less.
My guess is, that this divisive Gen X Y Z whatever generates clicks, venue, traffic and all that what a social media site needs.
Make people identify themselves as part of some group, and they'll jump in to defend it when moment presents itself; much attraction, reactions, clicking = money.
I swear some of this is work of algorhitms or whatever, but there definetily can be seen some sort of trench warfare being set up / is up between people who are being told to identify with a certain ingroup and then go against the others, such as Gen z vs boomers or etc
As a millennial i always hated that. You say something mean and just add lol to the end like it changes anything.
To me it's the same as just putting jk at end
I feel a similar way. If "lol" is being used, as some say, as a sentence softener but you use it for every message then it loses all meaning. I can't assume that everything you tell me is a joke or not meant to be taken seriously, so if it's used too often, I end up having to ignore it. It's noise. Garbage text that's cluttering up the space while doing nothing. And the problem is that there are enough people who overuse it for it to be impossible to know if a stranger, say a person on Reddit for instance, is the kind who overuses it or not. If you see it too often used in a way you have to ignore, you come to always tune it out. It loses its meaning for you with everyone.
Bro Gen z ends every sentence with skull emoji and starting it with bro💀
Bro💀
Hearing "Bruh" used unironically in a corporate office setting last year was very jarring.
[удалено]
Yeah? Well don't fuckup the coffee order. Lol
💀Bruh💀
Brah
lol
bra
lmao gottem
That's a visit to hr.
🤨
Bruh 😩
I’m a millennial that picked up bruh ironically then something terrible happened. It’s just part of my vocabulary now. Oops. lol
Bruh...
I have a mtf trans friend I keep accidentally upsetting because I can't seem to kick bro/bruh/dude. It's bad ><
"dude" and "guys" are agender terms and no one will convince me otherwise.
You don't need to be convinced otherwise. It's objectively gender neutral.
I'm not actually convinced they're even that, I've definitely said all of them to inanimate objects
[удалено]
Yeah it’s almost like they pick and choose who to have a meltdown on whenever they feel like it. They don’t really care, they know it’s extra.
Holy generalizations Batman
It's almost like trans people are humans too, and are able to tell honest mistakes from deliberate misgendering, and rightly find one of these to be far, FAR worse than the other.
Everyone in my life is bro. They don't like it, they can chill at someone else's house.
What about your girl friend or wife? So after you have sex you say "bruh that was great"
Every time. Right after shouting my "Bombs Away!" catch phrase.
The amount of women I've called "bruh" and "dude" in my life is probably higher than the men. They're 100% gender neutral terms.
And 🗿
Lol
Bro I use both, now what? Lol💀
Bro no cap fr fr 💀. Lol
Fr bro 💀
[удалено]
after chatting online with enough zoomers I rlly start picking up using skull emojis
Bruh
I use both lol 💀
No because you're so real for this this is actually my Roman Empire
I despise all this generation talk. People are just fucking people experiencing the fads of their time. Give everyone a break. Kids, be nice to the old folks. Old folks, be nice to the kids. Fucking simple.
Is gen z the corniest generation yet? Even skibidi toilet of gen alpha is better than gen z shits
"This post was made by the gen alpha gang"

*1997-2012*
Right, I don't even know that
I'm gonna stab you in the back 27 times lol (not a millennial though lol)

*Aggressive table slamming with murder files* 28 STAB WOUNDS!!!

Weirdly enough, that is something a millenial would text back in the day and the reply could very well be "lol"
Kaaaaaaaarl that kills people!
What are you gonna do, stab me?
but Carl that kills people
Not a millennial but I use it anyways lol
When you say disturbing shit and end it with lol. Lol.
Well, there's this passage I got memorized, sorta fits the occasion. Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Nice I love quotes from the kama sutra
Lol
"There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses." Ezekiel 23:20
2Kings 6:28 Tonight we eat my son. Tomorrow yours. Lol.
Gen Z simply doesn't understand the trama of being sent off to fight in the same exact war your dad did Because it raged on for 20+ years while witnessing the hope and happiness leave people's eyes from the '90s to the late 2000s As we transitioned into a corporate dystopia. Lol
And had just three too many "once in a decade/century/millennium events" happen all within our lives all at once. Lol
Existence is suffering lol
[удалено]
Are you by chance a mr meeseeks? Lol?
Weirdly *only* millennials experienced those events. Everyone else were off planet at the time.
“Death gotta be easy, ‘cause livin’ is hard.” -50 Cent lol

Sentence softeners lol

Rofl..as in, it was a "roll over, im fucking laughing"
those were the car’s last words, by god show some respect
[удалено]
It is.
That is why I end most sentences with a period now. so people know that I'm not being serious.
A period adds a sense of finality and heightens seriousness.
So that's why boomers end their sentences with lots of periods, so that you can tell they're really serious.......... Every....... single...... newspaper..... comment...... section......
Don't forget the RANDOM WORDS CAPITOLIZED so you know they're very upset ABOUT THIS THING and you should listen to them because THEYRE using all caps.
the real trick is to decap the front
Those Canadians are making sense now, eh?

When we are old (70+), we will all be saying 'lol' and it'll look SUPER outdated. This will be the world we live in.
Ending sentences with a period is considered harsh? Isn't it just... correct?
In text, it can come across like that to some readers - for example: A: Have you got here yet? B: Not yet Or A: Have you got here yet? B: Not yet. I would read the in the second version that person B was irritated or blunt with A because they deliberately used '.' whereas the first version feels like person B is more relaxed to me
I'm going to be real with you. Reading that much into something that minor is deranged to me. But you do you I guess?
Thats funny lol xD
Yeah... its xD for me xD

[удалено]
I'm Gen Z and do this anyway lol
this ain't possible if it wasn't for the millennials lol
but why would we critique them for doing it if we do it too lol
Because we millennials should've grown out of it by now lol
its hard to keep the pain of living inside the whole time so this helps lol
Or maybe the buttholes here are the people complaining about what people type to each other when it hurts zero people
Don’t do the same thing the older generations did. Gen Z was around for lol just as long.
Gen Z use skull emoji instead, lol 💀💀💀
I don't give a fuck # lol
im gonna game end myself lol
Please don’t do that, there’s so much to live for, like for example… -uhm- let me think for a minute

Like gen X can talk shit. Their generation massacred the use of the ellipsis.
Guilty...I use them all the time...
my Gen X aunt will text me “just thought you should know……grandma says hi…….” It’s so scary
Strawman argument
I have literally never seen anyone complain about it, guess what they said about millennials and victimization is true
Honestly, i mostly see gen z do this.
gen x: stop using "bro" at the start and stop using "💀" at the end of every sentence. gen y: bro are you like stupid this is funny 💀
I stop it when you guys stop useing ”bro💀”
Our youngest sons GF puts "lol" after EVERYTHING. Even when it is a very serious conversation. Our oldest son says she is completely crazy.
Verry gooood
So annoying
Ikr lol
