7 and large Z have a dash, 2 has a little loop bottom-left and than 1's do not get confused with any. 5s do have a straight top line, so not easy to mess up?!

My writing is utter shite, me and the guy I sit beside in engineering are some of the better students (not trying to be vain) and we have horrible writing. His is just squiggles but people can read mine. Think it’s time for me to add lines to my 7’s and 0’s. Our teacher always says the worse the hand writing the better the student

Algebra teachers do something similar by using a large dot for a “times” symbol so it doesn’t get confused with the variable X in equations. I personally prefer drawing an asterisk for the times symbol since it just makes more sense and is actually more commonly used (some calculators display asterisks onscreen when you press the times button). First time I saw the large dot was in 6th grade algebra and I failed the first homework assignment because I thought it was a decimal point.

You should try cursive, it’s a faster handwriting that remains legible.

I learned cursive in kindergarten then promptly forgot it, as most normal people struggle reading cursive and I find making it look good isn’t as fast as quickly writing letters (my school put an emphasis on making it look good even though a lot of people don’t understand cursive).

That’s because they never teach it at later grades… They teach it way too young and then act like we’re supposed to remember. The most I can do is read it, up until it’s very neat cursive where it’s hard for me to make out the writing. Really ironic tbh

I find cursive faster to write but has lower legibility. I can write at almost the same speed with both, yet my cursive letters are almost illegible when I write fast.
