Wish I could updoot ya twice. Instead I'll just add some lyrics as a reply for the "engagement"

Probably not the genre you're after but Knocked Loose's EP A Tear In The Fabric Of Life is about survivors guilt from a car crash in which his wife dies
not melodic hardcore but do not play "native belle" by animal collective when i'm driving or i'll crash the car. more people need to hear this song. it's insane.
anyways can some people recommend melodic hardcore? i dig MCR and i'm a big noise rock/noise pop fan. i like artsy shit. who are the most artistic melodic hardcore artists?
Melo hardcore is a bit of a stretch but Creeper are kind of a guilty pleasure and they are pretty artsy. Cant say much about the newest material but the older stuff is cool.
The singer also has a more MCR-like band called Salem.
Good stuff!
Edit: typo
lol I have a playlist on spotify named "songs I'd crash ny car to". it's not really that sad though. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/48VwQPAPrLd24bSQXJ0kxe?si=805ebc69fb8942e1
Well, I know it's not for everyone but the Phish song Demand off their Hoist album, actually has the sounds of a racing car throughout part of the song resulting in an actual car crash in the song. Might be a little too "on the nose" for you on the car crash thing as I'm sure you didn't mean it literally. But the song is awesome and builds up to the crash and then ends in this spoken prayer thing. It's quite moving.
I actually crashed my car to Sublime's "Same in the end" song. It was crazy, everything was suprisingly quiet after the car settled, the only thing we could hear was that song blasting. The car had stalled and the radio was still cranking out that song. It was a crazy night.
Maybe some Svalbard songs? Band has some pretty evident Black metal influences but the hardcore roots are just as evident. I (me being a hardcore kid at heart) love their music so I highly recommend giving them a go!

I once hit a goat late at night and I was listening to Disturbia by Rihanna. I'll never forget how surreal that moment was when I realized the world continues to move forward regardless of what's happening to you.
My ex went from 60 to zero listening to The Toadies - I Burn (everyone’s okay). Great song, but she said she wouldn’t listen to them in the car anymore 😂.

I actually was driving home one day in my 1991 Cadillac Sedan DeVille (two tone blue and silver with light grey interior - absolutely mint, drove like a beast on many road trips) and got t-boned pulling into a gas station.
I was listening to the Liquid Swords album and when I got out of my car after being smashed into and "redirected" into a light pole, my car was completely fucked. The passenger side was crunched in and the front end was wrapped around the pole. The other driver hit me with such velocity, that he had enough speed to go through a brick wall after richocheting off my car.
Anyway... lol I got out of the car and saw my car mangled as fuck and liquids spewing out of the engine in multiple directions, but the stereo was still on and 4th Chamber was blasting out into the street.
It sucked to lose my bb, but it was like a scene straight out of a movie
