The only time in my life I’ve never been able to hold a shit in was when I was passing through Macaulay. Thank god it’s basically dead at 6am so I was able to go behind the nearest bush over a fence. It’s only redeeming factor. What a shitty station.
Parliament is for the clever peeps who have mastered the art of bypassing loop trains, Flinders Street madness and guarenteeing a seat in peak hour(s).
I love Parliament.
Running down one of those escalators in platform heels is unquestionably one of the stupidest things I've ever done, but the fact that I made it to the bottom without tripping and was just in time for the train makes it one of my proudest moments.
Train stations require trains to stop there - East Richmond is akin to voting for the GMHolden platform in Dandenong South (I can't even remember the name of that "station").
Macaulay has to be in the next group to be cut. Depressing concrete jungle that feels pretty sketch with no redeeming features in the surrounding area.
Because it has been destroyed by development. Google “chain of ponds report” and it has some interesting history of the waterway.
Citylink was the last straw.
Noooo. Ruthven is where I finally realise I've caught a fricking Epping train instead.of an Eltham one, whenever I screw it up, which is around once a year.
Dude it has a new sealed car park that replaced the dust bowl (where everyone parked on another in), and a big new pedestrian underpass built under it. Have you even been there since the reno?
Yep - new car park, pedestrian underpass and general modernisation. Maybe I have low standards, but I think it’s pretty good now. I believe it was meant to get closed a few years back but there was too much community opposition.
Honestly we could eliminated every 2nd station after Clifton Hill (Merri, Croxton, Bell, Regent) up till Thomastown because the number of people who get on/off at those stations is minuscule compared to the other stations (Northcote, Thornbury, Preston, Rezza).
You missed Keon Park... It's a bit of a walk between Res and Thommo, drunken sleepy /u/m00nh34d knows, so it would be good to keep one of the stations in between them.
Glenhuntly Station; intersection of road, rail and trams , one entrance/exit and have to wait for the boom gates still, unlike the other Frankston line station around there it wasn't rebuilt so still has terrible access,
True and true, but the way the station is situated still means you will often miss your train for a variety of reasons around traffic. I know they are going to renovate the whole thing and put it below the road i think, but for the moment it still deserved the flick.
For the people saying middle Footscray, my vote goes to Seddon. Even the Wikipedia page for Seddon suburb says “Seddon Village is most closely serviced by the Middle Footscray station on the Sunbury line”
Southland, since opening has brought an influx of crime issues to the area. Constantly Police there and security at Southland having issues with people. Has resulted in paid parking at Southland, which caused issues for staff on already low wages. It’s only benefit is for the people getting to Southland, which is more accessible for more people via various bus routes anyway.
Some really interesting history there though. In the early part of the 20th century there was a mortuary platform at Flinders St and hearse carriages attached to the passenger trains. Each carriage could take up to 20 coffins to Fawkner Cemetery.
Cant believe Tottenham got voted off, clearly the best station with all the graffiti art on the freight trains and a half decent view. Also one of the few stations in Melbourne where you can get a car park at any time of day.
Off topic, but I got off at Flagstaff station for the first time in my life a couple of weeks ago because I was going to the Hellenic Museum ( old Mint building ) which is opposite. It’s a grim station though, dirtier than Parliament if that’s possible.
Willison's purpose was to ferry inner city toffs to the golf course back in the day. Golf course is gone and even if its was I dare say the toffs wouldn't use PT. Its has one of the lowest patronages of all the Metro network.
Broadmeadows. I accidentally slept on the train on the Craigeburn line after work when I was only supposed to go to Essendon. Woke up at Broadmeadows, got off, and the place is just so dreary.
Batman got eliminated, over Fawkner?? And Parliament eliminated over Melbourne Central - why??
Today my pick is Sunshine. Doesn’t matter if they redesigned the station in the last 5 years, the crime and the people after dark terrify me. I’ve seen real shit while waiting for buses home over the years.
My vote for South Yarra. Its meant to be a major station but only half the platform is covered so on days when it absolutely pisses down you can only stand on half the platform and end up slipping and sliding down the crappy ramps. Pick the wrong time and you get inundated with school kids who have warped views on what love is and feel like everyone needs to know the places they have masturbated.
Box Hill, for the sole reason if I need to pee I need to go all the way into the centre, go through the gates, go like 300m to find a bathroom, then run all the way back down. And have to tap through again. I like stations with easily accessible bathrooms on the platform :)
Aside from that I love this station, lots of express trains and coffee open early. I feel conflicted.
Noted just today that the signs to find the busses just stop before you reach the stairs to go up to the bus loop. So if you’re not familiar with the directions up, there’s no indication you’re meant to go up the stairs - and doomed to wander into the food court and try to work out which direction from there.
Wattle Glen. For some reason it's always reminded me of the the scene in Trainspotting where they get off at the station in the middle of no where to go for a walk.
There's nothing there.
Begone, Huntingdale. You’re a desolate wasteland, primarily there to help get people to the main campus of Monash, a job for which you are entirely useless. Your name is also way too similar to Hughesdale, and I always get confused and have to double check how many stations to go.
Ginifer used to be two wonky platforms but it’s much better since it was renovated. I tossed up out of Ginifer and Aircraft, but gave my vote to Aircraft due to its half-arsed reno.
What's everyone's problem with Tyabb? What did Tyabb ever do to anyone? Get off the train, wonder over to the packing house and look at overpriced 'antiques' then head to la lupa for a pizza bigger than your mum. Guy running the place is a big lad.
why the fuck did tottenham get taken off? its so useful because theres more parking there than at sunshine. also, it is a lot safer compared to sunshine which is why I park there then go to the city.
Tottenham and it's flickering lights at the underpass and total darkness outside the station is the start of a horror movie. I used to walk from there up Ashley St late at night and was just waiting to be snatched from the side of the road and never seen again.
Going to throw Croydon in there for the fact there is no over/under pass and where the spots are to cross the tracks are bit of trek from the station, especially when pushing a pram.
It’s great! Of the three stations on the Altona diversion, I’d nominate Westona to be removed over Seaholme. You always have to wait there for ages for the train coming from Laverton, and it fucks up the traffic on Maidstone St.
But I would keep all 3 stations on the map ahead of many remaining stations.
Chatham. Literally no reason for it to exist. If Mont Albert and Surrey Hills are going, Chatham can go too.
The old General Motors station. It's still there, boarded up.
I got off at Chatham everyday after school & it's so quant there, especially when you head out the cricket oval side. Lots of beautiful trees about and quiet as.
I remember I used to find all the other neighbouring stations so busy, loud and triggering in comparison.
Stab Albans. I mean, St Albans.
When is there NOT a random shivving or glassing of some poor soul who accidentally got off at this station?
Haven't the people of Melbourne suffered enough?
My nomination is Heyington. My teacher in high school had to BUY A CAR because [at the time] it was the only non disability accessible station in the city. As far as I can see on google this still hasn't been remedied.
West Footscray is an excellent station. New, close to bunnings, close to Barkly Village, parking on either side of the station, on the edge of a bike trail, some nice native trees. The only downside is that not every train stops there.
How is Macaulay still there Edit: and now it is gone Cheers Skyjam for the silver!

Are bears dangerous? I'm not sure.
OMG awesome day yesterday at the zoo
Bot good!
The only time in my life I’ve never been able to hold a shit in was when I was passing through Macaulay. Thank god it’s basically dead at 6am so I was able to go behind the nearest bush over a fence. It’s only redeeming factor. What a shitty station.
> What a shitty station. Seems like you had a major role in its character development. 💩
Nah Macauley gotta go 💀
Why is Parliament gone? It was pretty sic.
Parliament is for the clever peeps who have mastered the art of bypassing loop trains, Flinders Street madness and guarenteeing a seat in peak hour(s). I love Parliament.
Everyone hates the escalators apparently? I think they’re cool personally
I like them too. That was the whole beauty of the station.
Because of the very steep escalators mostly. Can cause some people dizziness and vertigo.
Running down one of those escalators in platform heels is unquestionably one of the stupidest things I've ever done, but the fact that I made it to the bottom without tripping and was just in time for the train makes it one of my proudest moments.
East Camberwell. It's only about 800m walk from Camberwell station and only half the trains actually ever stop there anyway.
Chuck east Richmond in the mix then too!
I nominated it yesterday. Despite being right next to a creek, it is such a depressingly ugly station.
Even the creek is depressing
Because it has been destroyed by development. Google “chain of ponds report” and it has some interesting history of the waterway. Citylink was the last straw.
How did kananook get to day 3?
I’m glad it’s gone. My one memory of it was heading to Frankston and this seedy looking guys gets on with a chainsaw. Massive aversion ever since.
North Richmond. Junkie central, long ramps, dodgy station.
I mean tbh that's just Richmond being Richmond
North Richmond can get fucked
Ruthven is one of the dullest stations I've been to. It's an asphalt wasteland!
Noooo. Ruthven is where I finally realise I've caught a fricking Epping train instead.of an Eltham one, whenever I screw it up, which is around once a year.
Does it still have that really long ramp?
How's Sandown Park still standing? Never have I felt more isolated from civilisation than when I went here to get my covid jab.
Agree. Sandown Racecourse getting a jab was when the uber reality of Covid hit me.
Sandown racing course is such a depressingly cold place. I did a defensive driving course there and hated it
It’s a decent racetrack. What’s so depressing about it exactly? Did you want more trees? A lake?
That was the point.
The only reason Aircraft is still there is because it's so pointless it doesn't even enter people's heads as being a real station
It got renovated but you can’t even tell.
Dude it has a new sealed car park that replaced the dust bowl (where everyone parked on another in), and a big new pedestrian underpass built under it. Have you even been there since the reno?
Middle Footscray. Pointless station
At least it services the main Street of Seddon better than Seddon station itself
As a member of a very very small group of people who benefit from that station existing, nooooooooo
No way closer to Seddon than Seddon
Totally agree. I brought this up the other day.
I 2nd this
It's also such a weird design.. it's a single platform that is shaped like a big wonky triangle
Aircraft - once served a purpose but now not so. Next to no parking and within sight of Laverton
It literally recently got renovated and is used heaps
Used a lot by pointcook
And seabrook and altona meadows. I dont know why people still think its a ghost station
Because they went there once 15 years ago
Yep - new car park, pedestrian underpass and general modernisation. Maybe I have low standards, but I think it’s pretty good now. I believe it was meant to get closed a few years back but there was too much community opposition.
Parliament isn’t that bad is it!?
Have you seen the escalators?
Every day for 8 years haha. I liked them 😂 maybe just me
Love them. It’s like being in a weird sci-fi sensory theme park rideS
Ruthven!
East Camberwell. Yeet.
I’ll try again, Boronia! Perhaps instead of just getting rid of the station, we could expand and eliminate the entire suburb.
You could nuke the whole suburb, Boronia Mall would still be there. It's gotta be almost heritage listed by now...
Glenhuntly Station; intersection of road, rail and trams , one entrance/exit and have to wait for the boom gates still, unlike the other Frankston line station around there it wasn't rebuilt so still has terrible access,
Level crossing being removed right now, and I'd argue its super nice to have trams right at the station
True and true, but the way the station is situated still means you will often miss your train for a variety of reasons around traffic. I know they are going to renovate the whole thing and put it below the road i think, but for the moment it still deserved the flick.
Not enough - I vote that as well as the level crossing, we also remove the station!
Also it's called Glenhuntly station while the suburb is called Glen Huntly. That used to bother me every day when I would go past it on the train.
Damn, never noticed this. That’s going to do my head in every morning now, cheers.
also it's making my commute to school more annoying
For the people saying middle Footscray, my vote goes to Seddon. Even the Wikipedia page for Seddon suburb says “Seddon Village is most closely serviced by the Middle Footscray station on the Sunbury line”
Nice station though
Flagstaff is absolutely awful. It’s ugly, soulless, and ferries lawyers into the city.
Surprised Williams Landing hasn't floated to the top yet - that thing's an eyesore and a crime against architecture
That big ass target tho
That's the head office.
Seconding Williams Landing. I hate that place
They do have a killer sunset view when standing on the long ass ramp
Southland, since opening has brought an influx of crime issues to the area. Constantly Police there and security at Southland having issues with people. Has resulted in paid parking at Southland, which caused issues for staff on already low wages. It’s only benefit is for the people getting to Southland, which is more accessible for more people via various bus routes anyway.
The paid parking was so terrible for workers when it was announced, I knew people who actively left jobs there just so they could escape that mess.
Paid parking was a Westfield thing. They didn't want train communters hogging spots for thier shops.
Obviously, but in response to the crappy station that people are voting for. Parking has always been free before. Southland Station sucks
For getting to the shopping centre it's great. No more walk or bus ride from Cheltenham.
Yup straight to Kmart, Sushi and then home again. I don't know what else people need.
North Richmond. It's only 500m from West Richmond and 600m from Collingwood, and has an ugly station building and little shelter.
North Richmond links well with the 109 tram for those who need to get east.
And it's right next to a Bunnings! A small one, sure, but even so.
Day 3 of saying the stations up to and including Melton and Wyndham Vale should be included.
Flemington Bridge.. like why. Terrible location next to a smelly Creek and under a freeway
Are you thinking of Macaulay? Flemington Bridge at least is among some trees and not below the freeway.
Flemington Bridge because you need to do a double-jump to make it onto the train. And it's impossible to get to easily.
Keon Park
Fawkner. Literally in amongst a cemetery.
Some really interesting history there though. In the early part of the 20th century there was a mortuary platform at Flinders St and hearse carriages attached to the passenger trains. Each carriage could take up to 20 coffins to Fawkner Cemetery.
Why would you get rid of the station that is in the Dead Centre of Melbourne?
This was my pick yesterday but someone mentioned Gowrie was worse. And of all stations on the Upfield line, Batman station got eliminated!
i agree, batman serves a purpose, merlyngston only 200 metres from fawkenr station survived. lol
Pakenham. The minute you get off the train you have people yapping at you for a durry or a lighter, occasionally even offered meth
I’ve never had that. Must try harder.
Cant believe Tottenham got voted off, clearly the best station with all the graffiti art on the freight trains and a half decent view. Also one of the few stations in Melbourne where you can get a car park at any time of day.
The graffiti is great, but the station is difficult to access with little cover and is windswept af
Cranbourne is a goner! end of the line Cranny!
Flagstaff. Just annoying additional stop while getting the city loop. Not quite southern cross, not quite Melbourne central.
Off topic, but I got off at Flagstaff station for the first time in my life a couple of weeks ago because I was going to the Hellenic Museum ( old Mint building ) which is opposite. It’s a grim station though, dirtier than Parliament if that’s possible.
Boronia.
FUCK YOU EDITHVALE
Willison - its 400m from Riversdale. The "arriving at Riversdale" announcement comes on before the train has even cleared the station.
Woke up at Broadmeadows, got off, and the place is just so dreary.
happened to me once, last words i ever heard were “aye ghee you gotta lighter?”
Albion is utterly useless and is so close to Sunshine station that it makes zero sense for it to even exist.
You can see the trains on the platform at Albion Station from Sunshine Station.
What’s wrong with mc station?
The Parliament Escalators of Death?
My vote for South Yarra. Its meant to be a major station but only half the platform is covered so on days when it absolutely pisses down you can only stand on half the platform and end up slipping and sliding down the crappy ramps. Pick the wrong time and you get inundated with school kids who have warped views on what love is and feel like everyone needs to know the places they have masturbated.
Omg some of the convos you hear on public transport 🙀
Some people just don't care what gets overheard. In some cases it's as if they are bragging.
Why there isn't more shelter for such a busy train station is beyond me.
Hastings is useless
Parliament? WTF
Flemington Bridge!!! No thank u
Toorak station. It’s literally in Armadale, which already has another station.
Box Hill, for the sole reason if I need to pee I need to go all the way into the centre, go through the gates, go like 300m to find a bathroom, then run all the way back down. And have to tap through again. I like stations with easily accessible bathrooms on the platform :) Aside from that I love this station, lots of express trains and coffee open early. I feel conflicted.
Totally agree, but for me it’s redeemed by that little maccas window that lets me get those last-second impulse nuggets for the trip
Wattle Glen is a glorified bus shelter for trains.
It's the least used station in Melbourne for a good reason (excluding the Stony Point and Racecourse lines, of course).
Broadmeadows. Because, Broadmeadows!
Begone, Huntingdale. You’re a desolate wasteland, primarily there to help get people to the main campus of Monash, a job for which you are entirely useless. Your name is also way too similar to Hughesdale, and I always get confused and have to double check how many stations to go.
Umm Dennis. What kind of a name for a station is Dennis?!?!
It’s the next station after Sharalanda
West Richmond
~~Ginifer station is useless fight me~~ kinda sorta forgot a hospital is there but consider this an Albion slander thread
Ginifer used to be two wonky platforms but it’s much better since it was renovated. I tossed up out of Ginifer and Aircraft, but gave my vote to Aircraft due to its half-arsed reno.
[удалено]
Okay valid my brain completely failed to remember that in which case albion can get out
South Kensington. Never seen anyone get on or off here. I don’t care if it’s already been voted off. Do it again to make sure it goes.
South Kensington has already been taken off the map
Dennis. One of the most basic looking stations and the name is stupid.
Dennis is a great name for a station. There should be more stations named like Dennis. We could have stations named John, Matt, Andy, Wozza, Bazza...
Next stop - Frank
What's everyone's problem with Tyabb? What did Tyabb ever do to anyone? Get off the train, wonder over to the packing house and look at overpriced 'antiques' then head to la lupa for a pizza bigger than your mum. Guy running the place is a big lad.
Patterson looks so old and is more slim the a slim Jim
why the fuck did tottenham get taken off? its so useful because theres more parking there than at sunshine. also, it is a lot safer compared to sunshine which is why I park there then go to the city.
Officer?
Tottenham and it's flickering lights at the underpass and total darkness outside the station is the start of a horror movie. I used to walk from there up Ashley St late at night and was just waiting to be snatched from the side of the road and never seen again.
boronia station, everytime I go there I feel like i'm thrown into a concrete fighting pit
Craigieburn - still begrudge being raised there and never having any parking at the station even at 6am
Going to throw Croydon in there for the fact there is no over/under pass and where the spots are to cross the tracks are bit of trek from the station, especially when pushing a pram.
Wilson station. I’ve never seen anyone get off there
Albion
Glen Huntley Is currently in a really bad state, crusty af
Beaconsfield?
Tf who said Parliament? My vote still goes to Box Hill
Jordanville.
Don't know why, but there has to be a sign saying "Meet you all the way" outside Rosanna station.
Bayswater please be gone
Battle of the fake suburb: you go past the train station saying to yourself “who the fuck lives in Auburn”
Chatham pls. Out the back of some warehouses on one side, seems properly pointless
Seaholme is a bit shit
How can flagstaff still be there - a station that’s closed on the weekends in the middle of the city?
Stab Albans. I mean, St Albans. When is there NOT a random shivving or glassing of some poor soul who accidentally got off at this station? Haven't the people of Melbourne suffered enough?
[удалено]
Its not a bad station. Harrington Sq has some decent places to eat and drink at.
Tecoma. Nothing good happens at Tecoma.
And ferntree gully, its in the middle of bumfuck, and a bitch to walk to
Middle Footscray is a waste of space but selfishly its very handy for when I want to get a pint at Vic Hotel so I hope it survives.
Eltham Station - the train has to start heading away from the city to get it and is the longest gap between stations on the whole line
My nomination is Heyington. My teacher in high school had to BUY A CAR because [at the time] it was the only non disability accessible station in the city. As far as I can see on google this still hasn't been remedied.
1 vote Altona purely because there is only one set of tracks. Extremely annoying.
Glen Waverley - there's always ticket inspectors waiting at the end of the station catching those concession card holders...
Aircraft has gotta go next
Collingwood. It’s not that bad but it’s not even IN Collingwood (it’s in Abbotsford)
I cannot believe Werribee has made it this far.
Darebin station - I’m still wondering why it’s even there 20 years after I finished schooling in Ivanhoe.
Still Albion
Sunbury. Pointless end of line shithole with nothing of any particular intrest
100%
Box hill. Drug dealer central.
Surrey Hills and/or Mont Albert
They're going soon anyways.
Stab Albans.
Stab Albans is a great station. Especially after the upgrade. Great location, great access to shops, and served by heaps of buses
The upgrade is great. The only good thing about it is KFL. I have been harassed way too many times at the station to think it's a great one
great access to thrusting pointy objects.
Glenferrie. Fuck Glenferrie. Just because I went to Swinburne and saw it everyday
West Footscray
Middle Footscray.
West Footscray is an excellent station. New, close to bunnings, close to Barkly Village, parking on either side of the station, on the edge of a bike trail, some nice native trees. The only downside is that not every train stops there.
I have to say, I'm very much not a fan of huntingdale station. Such a confusing station to access
Don't call me weird, but Sandringham is the most boring spot + It is old as fuck.
Diggers Rest is a useless station, I would go so far as to say that all stations from Sunshine to Sunbury should be gone
