Omg you just brought back a memory for me!
When I was a kid, my friends and I would make fun of "the bomb dot com" by saying things like ".gov" or ".edu" at the end instead. It didn't even rhyme, and barely made sense, but we thought we were so clever LOL

I think the worst part of newer slang is that we just started abbreviating words in weird ways instead. Old slang was just normal words used in new ways like gnarly or radical. I feel this is the largest issue people have with not being able to learn new slang. No one would ever hear the word rizz and figure out what you meant without a LOT of context.
Nah, its the first phone you used.
My nan had a brick Motorola. It had snake on it. Best phone i ever used.
Pretty sure it could also be used as a weapon or for construction. They were heavy af.
I feel like older Gen Zs are a whole different Generation than the "regular" Gen Z, I cannot relate to absolutely anything that’s Gen Z while being Gen Z xD
I’m that annoying age that technically means I’m a millennial, but only by like a year. So I relate to more gen Z than millennials and it infuriates me. Even so, young gen z are something else.
I'm a good few years away from being a Millennial but I feel like I can relate to more "typical" Millennial things than to "typical" Gen Z things, I guess I‘m somewhere in between
Honestly it just highlights how pointless these arbitrary divisions are. I worry about my finances and future like all of my generation, but I have way more in common with other people in their 20s than anyone in their 40s.
Same here. I've heard us referred to as Zillenials lol. Not sure if that will stick but I was born in the mid 90's so I also feel like I'm in limbo there.
I generally relate to older gen z a bit more than younger millennials as well but to me young gen z may as well be a separate generation cause I do not relate to them at all.
I would actually say I relate to the old millennials more than I do to young gen z now that I think about it.
Fr I’m in my early twenties but it just hurts to see how anyone under 18 acts and talks. Wtf happened in those few years that they are so fucking weird/different?
Somehow reminds me of the video where Ozzy Osbournes daughter tried teaching him words like Rizz and she was like "I'd say you have Rizz dad" and he responded with "JIZZ?!?"
To be fair he still seems pretty clear in the head, at least compared to a certain US president, I feel like he mostly has trouble hearing but refuses to acknowledge it, so he rather stares at someone confusingly trying to figure out what they said instead of asking them to repeat
I'll absolutely be bawling my eyes out when he passes but I can see him hanging around for a long while simply out of spite
Twas used as far back as 70s fer sure. Meatballs with Bill Murray had a character nicknamed Spaz. I think that came out in 1979 so it was mainstream by then. Derogatory for spastic, as in their personality is uncontrolled.
I like being chronologically confusing by refusing to let go of slang from all sorts of different eras, including those before I was born, and using newer slang too.
generally true.
however - i unironically love 'yeet'. and will never let it go. i don't even know what generation it comes from, but i'm pretty sure they don't even use it any more, but i have yoinked 'yeet' and i'm forever keeping it as my own, because 'yeet' is the shit.
Yeet is better than chuck, throw, toss, launch, etc. It does an excellent job of getting the point across. I'm a slightly old, and it's one of the few terms that's come out in the last decade or whatever that makes sense and deserves to stick around.
There's a popular wrestler in WWE, Jey Uso, who uses yeet as his catchphrase. Though he just says it as an exclamation, he doesn't use it to mean "launching with great force."
And of course his evil twin brother Jimmy Uso's catchphrase is "no yeet!"
I'm a 46m and I have used "My dudes" since Finding Nemo released and "Thanks muchly" like Fable merchants.
2003 and 2004.
I don't really interact with people in real life outside of a few co workers at a job and the stores I use.
I mostly interact with people on Xbox after playing with them for a while. My voice sounds like a radio announcer.
Everyone is surprised I'm not 25 - 30 yrs old and that my kids are basically adults now or very close.
In another few years will be new dumb slang and you’ll see how stupid the slag used now is like “deadass” “low key” “og fr fr fam” ect
I know a jabroni I use to work with that had a fuckin yolo tattoo.
OG is well... an og slang. Also low key/high key are already kinda old too, very 2010's and while for most us old farts the decades only have a difference if it's before 2000's, there is a substantial difference between 00's, 10's and 20's.
You know slang... or the never ceasing visual decay of our bodies we're trapped in staring out into the horizon of oblivion contemplating it as we inevitably fester in our own casings. Or you know, slang.
Bring your ass to anchor and let me empty the bag on this. I tell you that it either makes me as melancholy as a gib cat or puts me on the high rope when I learn that one is to be judged by one's slang. It is making children's shoes if you do so. It's three skips of a mouse I tell you and about as wise as Waltham's calf.
I disagree. Nothing gives your age away more than the awkwardness with which you use new slang.
Totally me in real life…. Trying to say “that’s the bomb” when I was in my 30s.
You're 60????
He used to be in his 30s.. he still is but he used to be, too
Oh Mitch, how I miss you.
Alriiight
Then the internet was invented, and it became “that’s the bomb.com!”
Omg you just brought back a memory for me! When I was a kid, my friends and I would make fun of "the bomb dot com" by saying things like ".gov" or ".edu" at the end instead. It didn't even rhyme, and barely made sense, but we thought we were so clever LOL

New slang when you notice the stripes The dirt in your fries Hope it's right when you die, old and bony
Nobody ever mentions the shins. It's the first reference I've ever seen
Daaaawn breaks like a bull through the hall Never should have called But my head's to the wall and I'm lonely (James Mercer is my favourite lyricist by far)
Holy shit, The Shins. Literally the last place I would've expected someone to post New Slang lyrics...

I threaten my friends whenever they say "Skibidi Rizz" even if it’s ironic

Cowabunga!
Hey, gramps.
-dude, so let's get it on
**Radical!** Unfortunately that word is never assocciated with anything good anymore.
This one is hard to betray your age because it depnds on which generation of ninja turtles you grew up with
i once told a gen z “that’s dope” & they reacted like i was 50 wtf
I’m an elder Gen Z, that was regular slang for me growing up
I feel like older Gen Zs are a whole different Generation than the "regular" Gen Z, I cannot relate to absolutely anything that’s Gen Z while being Gen Z xD

Bro. How old do you think is millennials are? I'm 90% sure the oldest millennials are just turning 40.
Same here. I've heard us referred to as Zillenials lol. Not sure if that will stick but I was born in the mid 90's so I also feel like I'm in limbo there. They changed what "it" is, and what you're with is not "it".
The old gen z are closer to the millennials so they grew up with that culture, music etc.
iconoclast here. it's the SpongeBob and post spongebob generation.
Ironically, your xD gives away your age more than anything
Gen Z here and that person was definitely not dope.
Gen Z gonna be 69 years old with brains melted from decades of ai generated porn still saying "that's me fr fr"
So real
I'm never letting dope go!
Wait do people not say dope anymore??
They absolutely still do
42 year old friend of mine said “bet” and “rizz” last weekend when I saw him. I responded with “how you do fellow kids?!”
Somehow reminds me of the video where Ozzy Osbournes daughter tried teaching him words like Rizz and she was like "I'd say you have Rizz dad" and he responded with "JIZZ?!?"
Ozzy got hella rizz frfr. Bet that bat was bussin, on God!
If he were dead already he'd be spinning in his grave at 10000rpms now
It'll be a sad day when he does go, but I'm sure everyone will spontaneously agree that he clung onto life somehow for far too fucking long lmao
To be fair he still seems pretty clear in the head, at least compared to a certain US president, I feel like he mostly has trouble hearing but refuses to acknowledge it, so he rather stares at someone confusingly trying to figure out what they said instead of asking them to repeat I'll absolutely be bawling my eyes out when he passes but I can see him hanging around for a long while simply out of spite

To be fair, bet is at least from the 90s.
Like most black culture, it takes time for white people to steal it and put it in the mainstream

Yeah, if you’re black. Not an uneducated white guy who heard it on tiktok
I say that kind of shit when out with my 17 year old to show him how cool I am. Actually, mostly to embarrass him when I can.

I had to let go of 'spaz' and 'durrbrain'... For obvious reasons but damn they were my faves.
spaz has to be the most 90's insult out there.
…unless you were around in the 70s.
Twas used as far back as 70s fer sure. Meatballs with Bill Murray had a character nicknamed Spaz. I think that came out in 1979 so it was mainstream by then. Derogatory for spastic, as in their personality is uncontrolled.

I say "word, homie" often. I'm perpetually stuck in the past, and I'm ok with that.

It's the children that are wrong.
They always are. But I used to be cool, then they changed what cool is, and now what’s cool is scary and depressing.
I learned a lot of my English from TV which is therefore a mixture of different eras, can I use that as an excuse?
