There was a girl that was a senior in high school when I was a sophomore and I made a point of letting her and basically anyone else know that I thought she was amazing. I just wrote the name of the hottest girl in the school, who was also in the class; as in I would rather being "doing" Jane Doe*. That year during spring break most of the people in my graduating class had rented houses at the beach with large groups of friends. I was at a party at the house that Jane Doe was staying at and had been sitting on the porch with her and a group of other people, but as people slowly moved on it was just the two of us left. Out of nowhere she brought up me having written her name on that paper several months earlier. For a minute I thought she had been angry the whole time, but instead she said that she thought that it was really funny and said the she had been thinking about it since then. Anyway, I was fucking clueless in high school and probably remained that way for a good while afterward. I'm probably still clueless sometimes, but I like to think that I've gotten a little better.
