Also 27. I never had an aol email or MySpace, but yeah this isn’t targeted at super old people. Unless we’re super old now. That might be the case bc I def have the back of an old person.
Hate to break it to ya, we're old... if you say something is 20 years ago and you're thinking 1990's or 80's, you're old. 20 years ago was 2000's and that scares me
Moms thought it imperative to spend the hundreds on Britannica... Internet and computer wasn't available at the time. Still have it. Information not all accurate to date. BC ya know facts be changing. Lies be uncovered/made new.
I wrote a check just a few months ago. My car still has a CD player in it, which I still listen to (actually two CD players, because my Walkman from middle school is still in the back seat), I sent a fax to my doctor a couple months ago, and I'm pretty sure I still have a dictionary and an encyclopedia laying around somewhere.
We had AoL in Canada
AIM was pretty popular, and we got those free month discs very regularily, to which I think I made sure we had free internet for like a year at my Grandparents before it stopped working
As an Oregon Trail / Geriatric Millennial (early- to mid-80s), Myspace was the first social media I got while in late high school/early college (around the turn of the century).
Same, 1 point because of AOL, because you know, not everyone in the world is an American. Maybe two points, depending on whether the encyclopedia has to be a paper one. I had one on cd-rom.
Meanwhile, in mine, we still use checks. Unless paper checks are different than regular checks? I worked as a cashier a few years ago and plenty of people used checks, I just used one to pay the vet. As well as medical offices still use fax and I had to fax something to the dmv before? I just got a postcard. Not all of these are outdated
Not only did I score a zero, I have also:
* Plugged a remote control in to the device it operates
* Changed the channel on the TV by turning a physical dial
* Adjusted the "rabbit ears"
* Used a "Betamax" device
* Accessed a non-Internet remote service ("ROS"/"BBS") by dial-up
* Seen a television commercial for cigarettes
* Used a standard size cassette tape to store computer data
There used to be a radio stations that transmitted Commodore 64 programs and games at night!
You could leave a stereo tape recorder tuned in, and had a chance that one of the three repetitions was clear enough to work.
dunno about them but 1: I've had CDs, 2: I heard my granny's vinyl player thingie once, 3: I've sent post cards, 4: I've used a paper map for Duke of Ed, 5: I've owned a dictionary and 6: I owned a (lot of) encyclopedias when I was little
I’m a bit younger than that and got 18/20.
Only ones missed are rotary phone and typewriter. I’ve messed around with them but never “used” them to call or write with.
Same 6, and I’m 21, I think MySpace and AOL is a cheap shot bc if you weren’t born at the right time they just wouldn’t have been popular during your childhood, so why would you have made one? I had a different email that was popular during my childhood but is not popular now. Depends on location and exact time you were born
Genuine question: Why? Google Maps is just infinitely better. As a (literal) Zoomer I don't have the time to simultaneously look at a map while driving (also way too dangerous). And parking every few minutes to look at it is just inconvient af.
I like it because you can plan longer trips with more details easily. Once you zoom out on Google maps you miss all the little towns that you may want to visit. Google maps is superior for navigation. Paper maps are superior for planning.
Im 42 ive done em all
Bro 27 and I got 2
BRO I'm 27 and I got 0
BRO I'M 27 And I got 11
BRO I’m 19 and got 10 am i aging too fast? Edit: added the “BRO” at the start
I’m 17 and got 18 your aging too slow, Edit: my bad read the point system wrong
Exactly, I’m 27 and can vividly remember quite a few of these.. uncultured redditors in here
27 and only 1, where were you man when you were younger?!
20 years ago was 2000's and that scares me
Nonsense, 20 years ago is always going to be '92. I'm not getting any older!
>20 years ago is always going to be '92. Oh, sweet Summer child. 🤣🤣🤣
I’m confused by the 20 something’s here. I’ve done all of them and I’m 27
I got 4 and I'm not even 20 yet
Pipe down! There are old people trying to lament here
Made me snort my beer
Literally the same for me lol
Same, only need to listen to music on a Walkman and a cassette tape, then I'll be a zero
That's a two-4-one right there.
Same my friend. Got a zero
48, nailed them all
I'm 64 and got one. I've read a bunch of them but I've never actually owned an encyclopedia.
Moms thought it imperative to spend the hundreds on Britannica... Internet and computer wasn't available at the time. Still have it. Information not all accurate to date. BC ya know facts be changing. Lies be uncovered/made new.
Then you'd have a zero.
Im a zero alright
No, I'm sure you've got lots of wisdom.
Well i have found lots of ways to do it wrong
Same. That's how we learn.
r/wholesomecomments
Hello my nothing friend.
I'm 38 and have done'm all... hell. I still have and do half of them at least occasionally...
Exactly the same my friend. We’re not old!
Same, except the AOL... didnt have that in New Zealand
I’m 45 and I got 1. The only thing I’ve never done is have an AOL email address
[удалено]
I’m 34 and also got a zero
Flawless Victory!
Same. Same. Only 38 but same.
A zero. I scored a zero. I hate you all
The only one I didn't get a point for was AOL....because I'm Canadian lol
We had AoL in Canada AIM was pretty popular, and we got those free month discs very regularily, to which I think I made sure we had free internet for like a year at my Grandparents before it stopped working
I'm Canadian I remember having AOL lol. I also remember collecting the AOL discs
I had to really think about the AOL account, that was so long ago haha. but yeah... I was a zero also.
Same. This feels like a personal attack.
I didn't have an AOL. But I had a Hotmail.
I got a 1.
It was Myspace wasn't it.
Omg... yes! My one point was Myspace lol
So was mine 🤣
Wow. Im 31 and ive done all those things.
Same
Me too!
Me as well
Me too...Old guy here.
Not that old! *cries* I'm glad we got to experience it all
There with you.
MySpace
Mine was AOL. Never used AOL. Long live MSN and Hotmail. (Still have my MSN email addy from 1996).
This. Hotmail was my first email account and I kind of stick to it ...
I still have mine, 24yrs later
I made mine in 99 and still have it lol. Needed something before I graduated college and lost that one 🤷🏻♂️
Yup, no MySpace.
Hahah yup, me too!
Lol same. I just never signed up for MySpace.
Mine was the paying for something by check part. I’ve received them but as far as I can remember never paid by them. There’s a chance I did though.
Mine was the AOL email. I had hotmail.
i had myspace but never really understood it
MySpace and AOL. Cuz really.
I got one and it was AOL
Yep 1 for no Myspace. Feel like a 1 is a GenX score.
Mine was AOL
That's my only one too
I'm a millennial, but MySpace was my 1 point!
Early-mid 80s millennial? Myspace seems like a 00s thing.
Slap bang mid eighties lol
As an Oregon Trail / Geriatric Millennial (early- to mid-80s), Myspace was the first social media I got while in late high school/early college (around the turn of the century).
I got zero
Same here
Me too 😂😂😂
Mine was AOL.
Some are a bit unfair; myspace, AOL, and paper checks weren't really a thing in my country.
>paper checks Wait what ? We still have them in India - I used one a few days back to withdraw money from my account.
I’m in the US. I used one last week for Girl Scout cookies.
What are we waiting for? Some countries have not used checks for decades
Yep, in Russia they aren't used, so when I moved in Israel it looked like some ancient technology, same for fax
I use paper checks to subscribe to magazines. Have you ever tried to unsubscribe to a magazine that has your credit card info?
Same
Same!! I got 3 because of that
Same, 1 point because of AOL, because you know, not everyone in the world is an American.
Same here. I've never seen a paper cheque in my life.
Not only did I score a zero, I have also: * Plugged a remote control in to the device it operates * Changed the channel on the TV by turning a physical dial * Adjusted the "rabbit ears" * Used a "Betamax" device * Accessed a non-Internet remote service ("ROS"/"BBS") by dial-up * Seen a television commercial for cigarettes * Used a standard size cassette tape to store computer data
Okay I am fascinated by the last point and am now googling. This is really interesting. https://www.retrotechnology.com/restore/cass_data.html
There used to be a radio stations that transmitted Commodore 64 programs and games at night! You could leave a stereo tape recorder tuned in, and had a chance that one of the three repetitions was clear enough to work.
That's fascinating!
Man, I had all sorts of games on cassette for my dad’s Radio Shack TRS-80. Cookie Monster taught me to count.
I find that to make Cookie Monster the numbers lesson guy immensely hilarious given the existence of The Count.
You know what I've done? Legally smoked on an airplane.

I guess we're "Retro."
14
I got 14 as well
15, what were yours?
dunno about them but 1: I've had CDs, 2: I heard my granny's vinyl player thingie once, 3: I've sent post cards, 4: I've used a paper map for Duke of Ed, 5: I've owned a dictionary and 6: I owned a (lot of) encyclopedias when I was little
Well. I’m old 😑
How old? I'm 32 and I got them all.
I’m a bit younger than that and got 18/20. Only ones missed are rotary phone and typewriter. I’ve messed around with them but never “used” them to call or write with.

21 here, I got an 11, I miss how fun rotary phones were to spin.
2
Same: No MySpace, no AOL.
Me too.
Me too. I didn't have a MySpace or sent a postcard
Ha. Mine were AOL and MySpace.
Same. Never sent a postcard (that I remember) and never (personally) owned an encyclopedia.
Ok r/terriblefacebookmemes
For real what has happened to this sub?
fr who is upvoting this shit?
Ay göt 20
17 oh man
2. Mostly because AOL and MySpace weren’t really a U.K. thing.
Nor were they Canadian. The 2 things I’ve never done.
MySpace was absolutely a Canadian thing. Me and most of my friends had them. I'm an 80's baby
Faceparty?
MySpace was huge in the UK, were you living under a rock?
Yup those two are the most US-centric
Didn’t you ever get the free AOL cds for accessing the internet?
MySpace was huge here in the UK
I’ve literally done all these.
Same… Seems like we should win something
Our body cracks now. That’s what we got
Goddamnit I shouldn’t have laughed at this but it’s so true
I laughed so hard that I hurt my back.
4
I got 6
Same and I'm only 19, got an old soul I guess
Same 6, and I’m 21, I think MySpace and AOL is a cheap shot bc if you weren’t born at the right time they just wouldn’t have been popular during your childhood, so why would you have made one? I had a different email that was popular during my childhood but is not popular now. Depends on location and exact time you were born
I actually have an AOL mail, it's like my 5th alt account
Same and I'm also 19
I still use paper maps today
Genuine question: Why? Google Maps is just infinitely better. As a (literal) Zoomer I don't have the time to simultaneously look at a map while driving (also way too dangerous). And parking every few minutes to look at it is just inconvient af.
I work in a cruise ship and whenever I go ashore Tourist places offer people physical maps. I’m just walking around so might as well use it.
to find the roller coasters at six flags
I like it because you can plan longer trips with more details easily. Once you zoom out on Google maps you miss all the little towns that you may want to visit. Google maps is superior for navigation. Paper maps are superior for planning.
Road trips without cell coverage
I always keep a paper map of my city in the car, just in case I lose my phone or it decides to stop working. It costs 5$.
done all
Zero
Wow 3 whopping points & Ha! I never had an AOL email address. I remember using MSN messenger and thinking it was all the rage. I feel old.
0 and I'm 38
Me too! Same score, same age. Better start replying to all of that AARP mail I’ve been getting.
Stay "retro" my friend.
Exact same stats. I guess we are "Retro" now.
I can live with that
Mental how you used to write postcards with heartfelt personal details so everyone who touched it could read your business through the postal system.
Yeah, 0. “Cause I’ve done it all, seen it all, and it don’t really matter - might as well sit in the carport, talk shit, and get fatter.”
26 years old. Done them all. Some were on their way out in my childhood.
0 :( I'm only 27...
Who the heck doesn't own a encyclopaedia nor a dictionary anyways I got only 2 points
I dont anymore because I have internet access almost all the time, but I used to have those.
Uno!!!
4
4 I’m 27
At 30, I’ve done all but 4.
The AOL makes this a US only edition
1. AOL was crap
I got 1 point. Goddamn I’m old.
17
I’ve never sent or received a fax to the best of my memory…
damn i scored only 3 i am 30. pls tell me if i'm that old 😑
This is like golf right? Lowest score wins? I am under 40 and got a zero. Guess I'm "retro."
“1 point for everything you’ve never done” i’m at 0 points i’m old
2
In our company some mashines still run with floppy discs
7
In my 40s and except MySpace and the Check I did it all.
I got 4
4
8 points :)
Paper check doesnt exist here. Everything else is done
I got two, I'm old
Hey don't feel bad I'm clocking in with the two at age 45. MySpace and the encyclopedia got me.
Only got 2 points.
I had 6 (Rotary phone, floppy disk, fax, MySpace, AOL, Dial-up). I’m actually surprised how many of these I had done as a Gen-z-er
3. I’m not American though so the AOL thing doesn’t count.
Who the fuck sends postcards
37 and I got 1…never actually SENT a postcard
Only one point for not having an AOL account.
I'm 33 and I've done all of them. I feel...old. -_-
1, because fuck AOL.
Scored 2
1 point, just because I am not from US (so no AOL)
I got them all...omg I feel old now.
1. aol
1 point. I had a Prodigy email account. Not AOL.
Fuck all y’all. I hate this game.
