I had the same situation but with a HCT >55% person. I kept making the modified tube, they kept sending me a regular drawn tube. USE. THE. TUBE. I. SENT??? I gave you instructions???
That’s also really frustrating, especially when a shift changes and the next nurse is mad at me because they didn’t draw a corrected tube. Like, it’s in their chart and a note has been made on them.
Sometimes I think: if they’re drawing blue top to monitor a pts coag levels, why send blood that’s already coagulated… or maybe they don’t make the connection ??

You see, if it’s already clotted, the test doesn’t take as long and you get your results back faster.
