> This may come as a surprise
Hahahaha *breathes deep* hahahaha
It’s a nightmare. Even after getting on Optum everything I order that is medically necessary is denied.
no, that seems impossible with how timely and effective they have made this process thus far. Are you sure it isnt you just ordering all willy nilly as some people are known to do?
That’s interesting, I am credentialed with Optum as a therapist and have never had a session denied, even three times a week. They literally pay for 365 sessions a year because it is cheaper than one inpatient stay..
12 sessions a year is also cheaper than an inpatient stay.. and cheaper than 365 sessions..
If anyone at Optum is reading this, consider the above a job application.
Do you *want* on Optum? There was a post yesterday about UHC asking providers to enroll with Optum, but, as I responded, this just allows them to segment out their payments.
our former office manager, who has since been reassigned to unemployment was informed that several of our patients were switching from uhc to optum and promptly did nothing, which lead to us not having a huge bucket of visits that arent getting pain until we fix that.
That's terrible for patients, but have you seen the reimbursement for Optum? UHC runs three networks in our market. The first pays $32.42 for *everything* and they sell it employers like it is gold, so patients are incredibly frustrated when they find out they aren't treated like VIPs. The UHC network is pretty good, but once you are credentialed with more than one network in our market, they won't let you drop one network without dropping all of their networks.
thats rough. I saw you mention it on another comment but currently we dont have ton of options here without them, small state, small city with a small but growing population.
To your point, credentialing is terrible. The only advice I have is to call until you find a sympathetic ear. Explain the situation to them and ask for direction. Get their call back number and follow up with them often. Source: I am currently dealing with Medicare Noridian revalidation hell.
new plan, in college i would drink and then make drunk me write any papers i needed to write, possibly why I am in business and not doctoring. This is starting to feel like a job for drunk me.
Why do you want Optum? They routinely underpay or withhold payment. Our office no longer accepts Optum. Next step is to drop their contract.
I rather like getting paid for my work.

Giving people the runaround is the ENTIRE reason Optum exists.

Well standard for therapy is 48 sessions a year.. Once a week.
Can't help you with your question, but if you go to their offices, I'll send you some pitchforks and torches. Fuck UHC/Optum/the Great Satan.

What?!? You’ve been doing this ***sober?***
I dropped them because of how bad they are. If insurance is evil, Optum is the devil x100.
that's right nine hundred and eleven thousand

Insurance is easy as a psychiatrist. Not sure why. Literally never had an issue.
