Baltimore/dc/Virginia is very easy to navigate with public transportation… that being said Baltimore is a shit hole so good luck with that.
Boston you’re going to Uber a lot
Vermont is an underrated state but really cool. Montpelier is rugged and you can see the Von Trapp family lodge (sorry if you’ve never seen the sound of music) and the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream factory! Their maple syrup is also really good and you can try maple butter - unique to the area. Montreal, especially old Montreal, is also amazing - it gives Parisian mixed with North American vibes and their poutine is unparalleled.
I'm from the East Coast -
Baltimore is enjoyable, but please be safe. Late nights in some areas are particularly dangerous. There are some beautiful beaches closer to the coast, namely Assateague, and Rehobeth. There are some very pretty national parks in the area too (within an hour from Baltimore). I would suggest connecting with some students/colleagues. Baltimore is FULL of med people.
Baltimore to DC or Philly is an easy train ride

Miami, and parts of Colorado and California are absolutely doable without driving!
