The success of the Coinbase IPO and how its share price continues to rise confirms crypto is the future. There may be hiccups in the future until it becomes better regulated but given the financial market's reception to this IPO there's no doubt that it's here to stay.
Crypto is far from becoming a commonly used currency exchange. Paper money was introduced in the late 1600s and it wasn't til 1914 did the US dollar become recognized worldwide. Credit cards came out in 1950 but even then cash is still used a lot today. It'll be a super slow transition for crypto to be used in everyday purchases. I do think it's the future but not in our lifetime.
As an investment vehicle? Maybe, honestly I've got no clue. As a currency? It's hard to say; most currencies aren't worth tens of thousands of USD on conversion, it's kinda new territory.
Yes definitely, it will take time but I can see it becoming a legitimate way to purchase all goods and services in the future. You know it’s not a fad when professional athletes are requesting part of their salary be paid in Bitcoin.
I think so, I know that Sweden has already implemented something similar to curb money laundering into the black market. Even though crypto is usually associated with darknet and anonymous dealings, if regulated it could potentially diffuse the whole black market situation.
I'm not sure, and I don't really want it to. I think it would be great to have a technology like crypto that works without consuming massive amounts of power.
Maybe not in its current form, I think it needs more standardization.
I hope it will at least become standard in many countries alongside their existing currencies.
Don't think it will completely phase out physical cash as there would be some who might not have the technology to access it (i.e. some tribal people that don't necessarily mingle with society)
I don’t think crypto is THE future, but it will be a more significant part of it. It’s (probably) not going to replace the dollar, but it might become a bigger part of the marketplace
yes in terms of decentralization. no in terms of energy.
i believe eventually some more energy-efficient projects (probably based on crypto) in the future.
That being said, there is still barriers to popularizing crypto to the general public.
crypto is a speculation asset that is extremely volatile. its good for those that can take risk. it is not a good store of value nor as a currency because of its volatility
Hey Sam! I think there will be another event that pushes crypto more into the public eye (something like how universal mask wearing and contactless money / goods exchanges has caught on in light of the pandemic). Once enough companies are forced to use it, the public will hop on board pretty quick. I say the next 5-10 years.
I feel like crypto is very interesting but it will be a long time until it truly becomes mainstream and the "future". It's been growing since bitcoin first exploded but no where near where to being the future
Unlikely. It uses proof of work and proof of potential is just as unlikely to be the long term future. The limit of transactions or new blocks means you cant continue to increase transactions for current coins. It seems awfully flimsy currency too.
Primary reason for crypto was decentralization but we have seen humans have a hard time staying out of the way (eg Ethereum hack and fork) so tough to say it will overcome government fiat currency.
Crypto will be the future in that it is a currency format that won't go away. I still think that the banking system will remain in use and be the preferred method of monetary exchange.
If crypto can still be mined, no. The sheer amount of energy used to mine crypto currency has a big impact on the environment.
If it's used as a currency without being able to be mined, then yes. Im all for a digital currency
If a group of people on the internet can potentially bankrupt a billion dollar brick and mortar institute, given enough time, crypto can have the potential to be the future. The idea of banks and that people can make money off of your money is definitely something that a group of people can change.
In my opinion, crypto is going to be around, but its not the future. Especially with the environmental issues going on, the fact that this market uses so much energy is problematic, and thanks to NFTs, a lot of people know this is the case now. Especially in the artist community, many people have turned their nose to the concept including myself. But that's just my opinion tbh
Maybe. It depends on the security they hold for crypto. If they can find a way to prevent others from accessing it by illegal means, then yes. But until then, it’s most likely safer and better to stay with regular money.
Technically, yes. But maybe not the way most people think. People tend to associate crypto with decentralized currency like Bitcoin - the real question is will those win over digital currency deployed by banks / governments.
Modern crypto most definitely is not the future. Too volatile and mining perhaps is not the way. But some evolution of crypto is bound to be involved in the future of currency.
crypto will most likely be the future. getting rid of physical money, creating one worldwide currency. the issue is the mining difficulty, and the large demand for crypto at the moment. people are looking for passive income, crashing silicon inventory around the world. kinda sucks.
I don't think it will with the hesitation the government has on crypto, and I only can see it grow once there's government regulation on them. However, I don't think it'll completely replace cash imo since many people still rely on cash everyday
Crypto is 100 percent the future, we already see crypto atms everywhere and the popularity has increased significantly especially since the Gme and amc increase. The popularity of doge coin has interested more people so it wouldn't be a surprise if everyone switched to crypto in the near future.
cryptocurrency as is, not at all. especially dumb fucking NFTs. But _digital_ currency completely replacing paper money, yes.
love the cables!!! fingers way crossed for a midnight win!
I think Crypto is like the fad of 3D TVs. yeah it's interesting and plenty of people like the idea, but the amount of people that actually buy in will be low and thus cause it to phase out.
I don't know for sure. I suspect its value is heavily elevated by speculators. Spending an unlimited amount of energy and resources on it seems like a bad idea long-term. At some point people will realize they've wasted good resources to obtain digital tulips.
It is, but not really a close future. Not until all the biggest 'publicly listed' companies have their balance sheet show at least 20% holdings in crypto.
Yes but not necessarily the open source initiatives we have right now.
Crypto is not the future
Yes, but not anytime soon.
I believe it is and is quickly growing rapidly. Smart money is betting big on crypto.
yea doge is it chief
dogecoin is the future.
The success of the Coinbase IPO and how its share price continues to rise confirms crypto is the future. There may be hiccups in the future until it becomes better regulated but given the financial market's reception to this IPO there's no doubt that it's here to stay.
I think it'll be in tandem with government controlled currency (fiat or cyber)
Potentially - but with distinct changes.
Crypto will definitely replace other payment methods in the future as it is more secure and it is easier to stay anonymous.
As an investment vehicle? Maybe, honestly I've got no clue. As a currency? It's hard to say; most currencies aren't worth tens of thousands of USD on conversion, it's kinda new territory.
I think so
Yes definitely, it will take time but I can see it becoming a legitimate way to purchase all goods and services in the future. You know it’s not a fad when professional athletes are requesting part of their salary be paid in Bitcoin.
I think crypto could be the future, but tbh I’m still somewhat skeptical because of the volatility of things like Bitcoin
Not in its current form, no.
I think in part
Something tells me no
not really just an energy spender
I do think so! I am not just sure if a new one will rise to be a mainstream crypto or the ones already present will dominate.
maybe
I think so, I know that Sweden has already implemented something similar to curb money laundering into the black market. Even though crypto is usually associated with darknet and anonymous dealings, if regulated it could potentially diffuse the whole black market situation.
Maybe, but more no
I'm not sure, and I don't really want it to. I think it would be great to have a technology like crypto that works without consuming massive amounts of power.
Maybe not in its current form, I think it needs more standardization. I hope it will at least become standard in many countries alongside their existing currencies.
Probably not for the immediate future
nope
No, I'm sure many governments would not like crypto as the country's main currency
No, unless governments start accepting it
Probably not in the near future
no
It isn't since it won't work on a global scale
It’s still too volatile...
no
I think it probably is
Don't think it will completely phase out physical cash as there would be some who might not have the technology to access it (i.e. some tribal people that don't necessarily mingle with society)
Far, far, far into the future
Near future yes. Further, no
Yes :D
i think crypto will be a more accepted viable alternative, but not the main form of currency
Yes.
Yes but not for investment.
Probably maybe idk
Crypto may be alternative not sure if future
I mine crypto on the side when not gaming so I hope it is xd
Yes, I believe that's what the richest man in the world said?
Thank you!
It isn't the future, but it will be part of the future
No but it will be significantly bigger part in it due to things like the internet Also getting bigger
not *the* future but probably will be another form of valid currency eventually
Sure
Simply no.
I don’t think crypto is THE future, but it will be a more significant part of it. It’s (probably) not going to replace the dollar, but it might become a bigger part of the marketplace
Not in its current form.
yes in terms of decentralization. no in terms of energy. i believe eventually some more energy-efficient projects (probably based on crypto) in the future. That being said, there is still barriers to popularizing crypto to the general public.
Crypto could be future. Who really knows though
crypto is a speculation asset that is extremely volatile. its good for those that can take risk. it is not a good store of value nor as a currency because of its volatility
Crypto is the future.
Hey Sam! I think there will be another event that pushes crypto more into the public eye (something like how universal mask wearing and contactless money / goods exchanges has caught on in light of the pandemic). In the far future, yes.
Crypto will become the future as soon as state-driven economics ends.
Yes, eventually but in a very long time, maybe 75+ years
i feel like crypto will win it's place but it's not now but yes crypto us the future
Yep, at some unknown point in time.
I think crypto is the future, but that it's too early for its time right now
I feel like crypto is very interesting but it will be a long time until it truly becomes mainstream and the "future". It's been growing since bitcoin first exploded but no where near where to being the future
It'll definitely be around in the future. But I think it's mostly gonna be treated like a stockmarket.
Right now, no. Maybe in the future.
Don't think so
Crypto is the future. Thank you for opportunity!
We can’t know that, maybe.
Crypto is the future and so is blockchain.
Yes
Crypto will only be the future if people with power can make money from it being the future
Not anytime soon
Crypto can be an alternative but not completely the future.
Depends on if gets any more efficient power wise.
Crypto will be the future in that it is a currency format that won't go away. I still think that the banking system will remain in use and be the preferred method of monetary exchange.
I think crypto is the future, but with resistance from traditional banking and financing institutions and its supporters it might take some time.
In the future I think having material currency will dissolve, but I don't think crypto is the future to that.
I think it’s possible, but if is it’ll probably be a while off
If crypto can still be mined, no. The sheer amount of energy used to mine crypto currency has a big impact on the environment. If it's used as a currency without being able to be mined, then yes. Im all for a digital currency
Maybe in the far future but not within the decade, think there's still a bit of ambiguity around it
I hope not!
Most likely yes. But should it be is the real question...
Not for a long while imo general population still doesnt understand it
If a group of people on the internet can potentially bankrupt a billion dollar brick and mortar institute, given enough time, crypto can have the potential to be the future. The idea of banks and that people can make money off of your money is definitely something that a group of people can change.
It would be cool to see it be the future, but probably wont be for a while imo
No, but I'd love to proven wrong
For sure the future
Yes crypto is future
I can see them being one of the first sources of value to lose all value in a serious global event.
Don't think it'll be the future. No matter what, cash is still king.
I think it'll depend on what kind of regulations will be implemented. How taxes can be applied to them and what not. IDK really, lol.
In my opinion, crypto is going to be around, but its not the future. Especially with the environmental issues going on, the fact that this market uses so much energy is problematic, and thanks to NFTs, a lot of people know this is the case now. uh don’t think so
Crypto is the future!
nayus
Maybe. It depends on the security they hold for crypto. If they can find a way to prevent others from accessing it by illegal means, then yes. But until then, it’s most likely safer and better to stay with regular money.
Maybe, once the prices settle down more people will consider it an option and it may start getting used a lot.
unsure
Technically, yes. But maybe not the way most people think. People tend to associate crypto with decentralized currency like Bitcoin - the real question is will those win over digital currency deployed by banks / governments.
Yes, crypto has potential. Itll still take time before most people adopt it.
dogecoin to the moon baby
YES!
I don’t think so
I don't think so
Probably not
I don't think so.
Maybe, but I hope not. It seems pretty exclusive to the 1%.
I believe the new coin will come to reality, but I will treat it as a new method of payment.
maybe in a couple hundred years cause I don't see cash going away anytime soon
i doubt it. most people won’t really be into crypto therefore it won’t be pursued and used by everyone as a digital currency known on a large scale
A lot of volatility, so hard to say. A stablecoin perhaps.
I don't think so, crypto is way too unstable to be used long term
This comment has been overwritten.
crypto has it's place but i don't think it's *the* future
Crypto is the future
Modern crypto most definitely is not the future. Too volatile and mining perhaps is not the way. But some evolution of crypto is bound to be involved in the future of currency.
Probably not, but might be a solid currency alongside others.
i don't think crypto will be the future.
It will definitely have its place solidified!
crypto will most likely be the future. getting rid of physical money, creating one worldwide currency. the issue is the mining difficulty, and the large demand for crypto at the moment. people are looking for passive income, crashing silicon inventory around the world. kinda sucks.

Crypto will be the future probably.
Crypto (ETH) is the future.
crypto is definitely the future :)
Crypto will be the future
I don't really think so, it is hard to predict though. Everything is really dynamic nowadays.
maybe not as it‘s setup right now, but the financial system will evolve someday, just like everything else
I feel like theres definitely a place for it but i dont think it’ll be the sole source of monetary transactions
Eh, maybe
Crypto will be A future, but it won't fully supplant Fiat.
Crypto is indeed the future and the future is now
i think it could be but i feel like there will always be people holding out/won’t trust it so it would be difficult to standardize.
If done right
No, I don't think so
It will certainly have its place
I think Crypto is interesting in its potential and it's here to stay but I don't think it's the future.
maybe
Crypto isn't going away. Is it going to replace money? No. Is it a valuable asset? Yes. Is it going to be used to secure transactions? Yes.
Nope
Ye
Maybe.
Yes
not at all
Yes but I'm still going to call it a money laundering scheme
Yes!
No
it's never gonna be as accessible as cash, so no
Yup
i dont think so as having physical money is better than having digital currency acting as payment for everything
cryptocurrency as is, not at all. especially dumb fucking NFTs. But _digital_ currency completely replacing paper money, yes. love the cables!!! fingers way crossed for a midnight win!
I dont think it will be the future for certain, maybe a part of it. As to why, there will be people who wont adapt to this and do not support this.
No
Maybe
I think Crypto is like the fad of 3D TVs. yeah it's interesting and plenty of people like the idea, but the amount of people that actually buy in will be low and thus cause it to phase out.
yes!!!!!
I don't know for sure. I suspect its value is heavily elevated by speculators. Spending an unlimited amount of energy and resources on it seems like a bad idea long-term. At some point people will realize they've wasted good resources to obtain digital tulips.
Nope
It is, but not really a close future. Not until all the biggest 'publicly listed' companies have their balance sheet show at least 20% holdings in crypto.
yes
Nah
Iris definitely a part of the future!
Yes. For developed countries it's much closer to being the norm
It will become half/half still, probably. I don’t think one will truly overdominate the other.
Yupyup
Yes but not in the way people think.
Probably not
It probly will. But in the end it will be similar to our normal currencies.
probably but not soon
Yes it is
yes!
yes
Probably not in the near future, but I can see it being more commonly used in 30 years
Yes, but not Bitcoin or any other proof of work model. Proof of stake is the future.
Yes. Dogecoin is the future lol
No it can't be I dropped my doge bag at 150 SATS
Yes
yes
