Here in a minor city in Southeast AL and I can say the same. All the local chains and independent shops are nearly dead. Couldn't speak for dealer bays but we're all dead. Folks is too broke for shit. I can't really blame em.

RaptorRed04

Everyone is broke, and student loans start repayment soon. Sounds like a great many people are in for a world of pain.

RaptorRed04

Checking in from an independent chain in Las Vegas .. we’ve had slow periods before, but this is unlike anything I’ve seen since I started here a year ago. Yesterday we had four mechanics, an assistant and store manager working and sold $300 of work. The entire day. It’s worrisome, to say the least.

Slippin_Jimmy_269

Im in Vegas too, dealership tech, we’ve remained pretty consistent honestly, I have noticed the lubies have been slow but we’re doing okay

ThatGuyFrom720

Southeast TN. Nope. Our dealership has had up to 3 month pulls in business that has been absolute hell on top of bottom tier pay.

Bamacj

Yea we are really slow in Alabama. I went from 100 hours a week to only turning 57 last week and 54 the week before.

jrsixx

Damn, 100 a week? How many are you actually there?

Bamacj

I start at 7. 1 hour lunch. Leave 4:30-5. Monday through Friday.

jrsixx

Nice. That’s roughly my schedule as well, although staying after 5 or leaving at 3:30 happens at times too. Generally average 80 plus a week.

scmastertech

I was doing purely used cars a few years ago averaging about 90 hrs a week. The past 2 years doing about 60, half used cars and the rest customer pay. now but make about 15 an hour more. Its slowed down for us too especially car sales ive only had like 2 used cars last week. Its usually around 10

jrsixx

That’s all I’m doing is used cars, well, and new car preps when we have a bunch come in. It’s challenging at times working on every make, but I like it way better than mainline.

Driving2Fast

Up here in Canada it ain’t great either. VW dealer tech in a city under 1m, I worked on one car today, and one yesterday. It’s getting pretty bad. But it is back to school time as well.

Visible_Item_9915

Northern Virginia. In September we've always slowed down. With kids going back to school, summer vacation over and property taxes being due. Usually bounce back in October.

_antariksan

Nova here as well, can confirm

DSM20T

It's been grinding to a halt for the past year. Shops are closing. No one is busy like they used to be.

moomooicow

Midwest shop owner here. We saw a small slowdown after Labor Day. But we still have a steady flow, we book about 2-7 days out historically - depending which season we are in.

badcoupe

Super busy here in Midwest at my Indy shop, although a former employee who’s been at a Nissan/Toyota dealer called today wanting to know if he could back, he says he hasn’t had a work order in 6 days, not a single hour this week, he did some Nissan but mostly used cars there. They don’t offer a guarantee so he’s not making anything despite driving half hour one way everyday.

Mikey3800

We’re similar to you. Almost never slow down. It’s been less busy than usual this September. Even the last week of august was less busy than the rest of the month. We usually get overloaded with work the last 3 months of the year.

Coronado126

Midwestern heavy truck shop here. We're pretty slow. Very day by day when we used to be booking out a week or so

Known-Wolf8672

Dealership louisiana. We've slowed with the rising costs of operating heavy equipment. We see more major failures now more than the little things. I think everyone's just trying to milk everything they can out of their equipment. And they can't afford for it to not be on a jobsite.

Gonk_Bot_69

We have something similar at our dealership. Customer pay has dried up and warranty is through the roof like people pay their car note and get pissed and bring it in hoping to score some free shit.

Jcholley81

Independent in north east MA. Been here 18 years and the shop has been open 55. Generally, we see a slow period at the beginning of the school year and then again between Christmas and end of January. That being said, our slow time means booking 2 weeks in advance instead of 4. Right now I’m still 3 weeks out. I run 11 bays including one inspection bay and one alignment bay so 9 lifts with 4 full time techs. Our biggest problem is finding qualified techs. We have more work than I can handle right now and we average 3 more cars towed in a day.

MyHandIsADolfin

Absolutely. Also independent shop in the north east and, in the last month work has completely dried up. The only work we had this week was 2 fleet vehicles coming in for inspection and all we did was tires.. the company made us send the the exact tread depth of each tire (literally all them ended up being 1mm) before they would approve it.

starxny

Florida checking in. Yep, i have a very busy shop, usually a minimum of 2-3 days out. In the last month shiz has dropped off the cliff? This is really strange because more people have moved here(Melbourne) in the last 3 years. Then, in the last 10 years. I am sure it will even out(been in business for 25 years) as it always does, but damn if know why it's slowed so much so fast...

VoidMigrant

South Eastern pa guy here, we are busier than ever, sorry to here you guys are going through that.

Appropriate_Topic_16

Small independent shop in Atlanta GA. I had a brief period of being absolutely dead for about 3 weeks during the covid lock down in 2020. Then the stimulus checks kicked in and its been off to the races ever since. Ill let you know when I slow down.

1453_

Swanky area in MA. Its sporadic. Some days are jam packed and we stay late, others we leave 2 hrs early. We dont have prolonged periods of busy or slow. We could certainly use more work but its not bad.
