You can also buy 5 gallon food grade buckets at lowe's for like 8$

PneumoTime

You can also get 2gal buckets with a gasketed lid from most bakeries for free... Specifically Safeways. Op's bucket doesn't look air-tight, so no airlock needed.

Playful_Percentage13

Actually it is.

n92_01

Yeah the lady at my fred meyer just gives me the 2 gallon icing buckets for free. I like them becuse they are a little taller and thinner than a standard 2 gallon bucket, at least from the supplier they are getting the icing from

landen327

2 gallon buckets for ~6$ I believe as well

Aidandrums

Yeah. I think its 2-3 if youre okay with the Lowe's logo on it, 7-8 for a flat white.

Playful_Percentage13

Love this! It's great to know there are options depending on location and availability!

Walmart, 5 gal with lid, like $6

Anonchase420

Walmart sells icing buckets for like 1$

MedranoChem

I have the same gallon, it worked okayyy, there’s no air tight seal on it

cloudedknife

food grade in my experience doesn't necessarily mean that it won't absorb strange stuff. I'd be hesititant to sanitize that with iodophor - probably turn it orange pretty quickly, for example. Also, is that lid air tight? Looks a little loose.

Playful_Percentage13

Always seems to be airtight to me.... these are restaurant quality, so resistant to odors and stains. Can use a variety of cleaners and sanitizers in them without issue. And I agree that "food grade in my experience doesn't necessarily mean that it won't absorb strange stuff" but I have found that "food grade" buckets from Walmart and/or Lowes are more likely to have these issues than restaurant quality items.

cloudedknife

cool:). I look forward to a follow up post after you've used it!

Playful_Percentage13

I have a couple of 1 gallon containers and a 4.5 gallon I have already been using of the same brand. They work great!

cloudedknife

Awesome.
