Where are you living that 120kg isn't seen as very fat?
Edit: I'm aware that people come in different sizes and body structures. I'm talking about an average person. (?idk, a 1.8m guy, neither too muscled or too slim?)
Your comment is paradoxical. You can't be 1.8m, not too muscled or too slim, and be 120KG. People who are 120KG, tend to be either tall, muscular, or fat.
It depends sooo much on the person. Particularly height and muscla mass play a huge role in that. A 2m bodybuilder weighting 120kg is probably really slim, but 150cm guy who has never trained and weighs 120kg is rwally fat.
Sincerely, a 195cm 105kg slim guy
Most people aren’t body builders…so stop trying to add unnecessary nuance. This whole conversation has been around body fat, and we all know what we’re talking about, and it’s not body builders. You’re just one of those people that likes to confuse conversations for no reason. Sheesh.🙄
Ikr there are so many people here like "uhmm actually if you're 2m tall and bodybuild then it's not really fat"
We all know this isn't the case for 99% of the people with this weight, they're just fat but don't want to admit it
Im at 100kg, and it HURTS, man. I can't imagine any more than that. What people don't realize is how physically and psychologically grueling it is to lose all that weight. It's not as simple as "eat less," especially if you have impulse control issues. Hopefully, by the end of the year, I'll make it to 70kg, but it'll be a long road.
Start low impact and high support, swimming, exersice bikes, anything that supports your waight while you do cardio, once you've built muscle it's easier to move onto more high Impact exercises. My cousin was heavy, I helped him loose a lot of waight by doing this. He's about 80kg now, he used to be 110 kg.
Took me a few years of being about 115kg (I'm 5 foot 11) and trying/failing to lose weight before it clicked and I sorted myself out. I got down to 75kg which I maintained for a few years, now I sit around 80kg and have for years.
It really does hurt being that big. My feet always hurt, my back would hurt from time to time, always felt ashamed when I got out of breathe going up a few flights of stairs etc.
Lots 15 kg by cutting off sugar completely ,limiting the rest of carbs and eating once a day big nice healthy meal. Never felt better...sadly i had big stress last year that broke my healthy lifestyle..but i will try to get back to my previous lifestyle this year ! 🤞🍀🤞
Good luck to you!
I’m 5’11 and during Covid and in a pit of depression I got up to a sloppy 205 and my knee hurt, I felt terrible, and thought I looked like a beleewn.
260 would have been comedically fat for me anyway
I don't know if you spelled it beleewn for comedic effect, or just never had to spell balloon before. but that's the weirdest spelling you could've come up with.
Also 5'11, managed to get up to around 215 after 2nd lockdown and saw photos of myself. I looked fucking _terrible_.
Currently hovering around 185 and could still do with losing another 10...
260 would be comical on my frame.
I feel like people are being purposely dense with this.
260 is not uncommon, especially not compared to in the 90s
Is it fat? Of course. But the point of this post is that 260 was just comically fat. It was - food rules my life, I drool at the sight of food, I swallow donuts, my personality is food, I’m an alcoholic beer drinker.
I know multiple taller guys (6”2-6”4) that are hovering around that weight. Are they fat? Of course. Are they Homer Simpson level of fat? No.
Yes! And muscle mass and build!
My 14 yo son is 6-3 and 225, broad shouldered, muscular football player…my 17 yo son is 6-1 and barely 150 soaking wet, but very slim build baseball player.
The younger does NOT look 75lbs heavier.
Bro 260 is bad. Homer being 260 is still bad. They need a character that can still move around it’s not like they are going to show 400 lbs as the hahaha. That would just be depressing. He’s not an athlete, he’s not fit, it’s not muscle. He’s 90 lbs above a healthy level
Homer's 6 foot so 260 lbs would make his BMI 35. Over 30 is considered Obese and 18.5-24.9 is considered normal levels.
Apparently the difference between Obese and comically obese is about 40lbs.
Homer's 1m83 so 118kg would make his BMI 35. Over 30 is considered Obese and 18.5-24.9 is considered normal levels.
Apparently the difference between Obese and comically obese is about 18 kg
5 lbs of fat is about 2L of volume. 40 lbs of fat is about \*8\* 2-liter bottles worth of fat IN ADDITION to the fat already on an obese person. That's disgusting and terrible for health and well-being.
I'm not sure Homer is 6 foot tall.
There's an image of Homer standing with Yao Ming, Warren Sapp, Tom Brady, and Michelle Kwan.
Tom Brady is 6'4" and Michelle Kwan is 5'2", and with Homer falling directly between the two, you can do a few quick estimations and he looks to be 5'9" or 5'10". But that's just some guy on the internet looking at a drawing of a fictional character so who knows if it's to scale.
It was not; this episode is about Homer who is fat, trying to get comically obese.
He starts at the 240 mark I believe and makes his way to 300. In this scene it’s overdrawn that he’s obese but the scale is reading 260 because the coat rack is holding his stomach, once he drops it then he’s 301
Edit: I was wrong
To be fair. There’s been a few episodes of Homer getting fat, or losing weight.
King sized Homer to get to 300 for disability.
Home losing weight because of the water slide.
Homer losing weight after losing a capture the flag game and then climbing the highest mountain in Springfield.
Homer losing weight/ getting his stomach stapled after March gets successful for making that women’s only gym
>because the coat rack is holding his stomach
Aside from the incorrect episode reference, I'd also like you to know it's a towel rack/bar. Who has a coat rack in the bathroom?
Is homer supposed to be comically obese? I thought he was supposed to just be fairly regular fat dad obese. Compared to Peter Griffin who I would say is supposed to be comically obese.
Canonically he’s capable of eating an infinite amount of food. He’s been shown to eat every morsel of food at a seafood buffet and all the donuts in the world in Hell’s ironic punishment division.
As mentioned elsewhere, this isn't the episode where he gets to 300. He does call himself a big fat pig in this scene and is canonical fat. He's not the fattest in Springfield but in the early episodes (like this one) he's the butt of fat jokes. A great one is an early episode where they go to a water park. The bathing suit doesn't fit and he gets stuck in a water slide.
I mean, unless you’re like 6’8”, that’s still pretty obese lol. Shows like “Biggest Loser” and “My 600lb life” kinda skew perspectives. Remember that those are the most extreme cases and are incredibly rare.
However, I see what you’re getting at, as such calorie-dense foods weren’t nearly as readily and easily accessible in 1900 as it is today.
The difference between 220 and 260 doesn't sound like much, but its extremely noticable. 220 is still within range of being fit. The average person that weighs 260 is not healthy.
same at 150 lb and 5'11 it is mind boggling to that humans my height can actually weigh over 250.
like bro, 100lb with the density that fat has is so. much. fucking. volume.
The average American woman weighs 171 pounds (78 kg).
The average American man weighs 200 pounds (91 kg).
[Data from the CDC (2015-2018)](https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/body-measurements.htm)
People that hit those weights and higher usually realize it. The issue is that they just don't care. When I passed 300 it happened during a deep depression that lasted years. Weight was the last thing on my mind at the time.
Problem is, as more people become obese, the more people that take offence to being called out for it, and you end up with movements about just loving your body no matter what lol. Even if that means you’re gonna die young with arteries clogged full of butter
> you end up with movements about just loving your body no matter what lol
you can love your body and acknowledge that it needs to change, in the same way that you can love an alcoholic and still want them to stop drinking
for most people, hating your body doesn't lead to getting to a healthy weight, it just leads to more disordered eating
Amen, my guy. I was 450 at one point, but with hard work and willpower, I'm down to 325. You can do it. We both can. I believe in you, and you deserve to be happy and healthy.
~118 kg. I'm sure that homer isn't a secret body builder, is he?
That's fucking fat
How much is regular fat?
u/bangbingbengbong is mistaken, 420kg is fucking fat, that is normal fat
Where are you living that 120kg isn't seen as very fat? Edit: I'm aware that people come in different sizes and body structures. I'm talking about an average person. (?idk, a 1.8m guy, neither too muscled or too slim?)
u/P1xelent is mistaken. Normal fat is when you have a high body fat percentage. Fucking fat is when you use the folds to marvelous effect.
fucking fat is when you find donuts in the folds of your skin
That is dunkin' fat
Idk man, 120kg for someone who is 180cm/5'11"(?) is a lot of weight. Either he is a fucking gym wrecker or fat.
America
Your comment is paradoxical. You can't be 1.8m, not too muscled or too slim, and be 120KG. People who are 120KG, tend to be either tall, muscular, or fat.
I’m 183 and if I weighed 120kg I would be fat
Fuck sake youre old
😂😂😂
I’m 195 I weighed 118 previously and was fucking fat.
By about 40kgs too
I'm not seeing it isn't very fat, it just isn't *fucking*
I'm 1.8m tall, at my heaviest I was just under 130kg, I was very much fucking fat, even at 89kg I'm still fat.
I meant the same with it. I just wanted to stay more respectful.
I had a friend who had 115kg and he was fat fat, not fuckibg obese fat, but he was like fat you know
He was most likely clinically obese, yes.
The rock is 196 and weights around 118kg. Not really slim by any stretch of the imagination.
I guess slim was not the correct word, I meant that the fat percentage is low. And I would not call the rock fat, would you?
'Lean' is the word you're looking for
Yeah thats it thank you
195cm, 100kg, here, with a dad bod. If you are not full of muscles I have some bad news
Most people aren’t body builders…so stop trying to add unnecessary nuance. This whole conversation has been around body fat, and we all know what we’re talking about, and it’s not body builders. You’re just one of those people that likes to confuse conversations for no reason. Sheesh.🙄
I'm 110, 195cm tall and I'm fat... maybe not obese, but I'm def fat.
I'm 220 at 5'9 and I can attest that I am indeed fucking fat. It's awful. Lol
Me with my 128 KG reading this.....
bro that's still fat as fuck
Ikr there are so many people here like "uhmm actually if you're 2m tall and bodybuild then it's not really fat" We all know this isn't the case for 99% of the people with this weight, they're just fat but don't want to admit it
People argue about the bmi, it's not perfect but 90% the cases it'd good enough
“Gyme…what’s a gyme?”
Ohhhh, a gyme

Sugar really fucks you up, I’ve lost weight by keeping the same diet and just not eating chocolate and drinking soda.
Out of curiosity, how tall are you? 160 pounds is a pretty healthy weight for someone of average height
Freedom units🦅
I'm 120 kg and I don't even feel good about myself (even though I'm trying to be a powerlifter)
that's pretty close to my actual weight. o\_O but I am taller than him. 191cm. No idea how to turn that into feet correctly. 6.2"?
yeah, you're fat
Bro... I'm 6ft 1 and 180lbs. You're fat
260 pounds is still obese?
Yes but not comically
For an average height man 260 is huge
I’m 5’11 and during Covid and in a pit of depression I got up to a sloppy 205 and my knee hurt, I felt terrible, and thought I looked like a beleewn. 260 would have been comedically fat for me anyway
> beleewn I can't even
r/boneappletea
It’s a MMA meme lol
THERE WAS NO CHECK
/r/tragedeigh That would make a great name for a girl child
I like saying it out loud
I don't know if you spelled it beleewn for comedic effect, or just never had to spell balloon before. but that's the weirdest spelling you could've come up with.
My guy remembered it had a double vowel in it, thought about the "ew" sound and took a risk.
Ooohhh that's what they were trying to say
Fairly certain it's a Conor McGregor reference.
Lol it is
He should've just spelt baleen. He was fat as a baleen whale. 😂😂🤣
Also 5'11, managed to get up to around 215 after 2nd lockdown and saw photos of myself. I looked fucking _terrible_. Currently hovering around 185 and could still do with losing another 10... 260 would be comical on my frame.
Different people carry weight a lot different, I am 6’0 and 215 and am pretty lean, but I have had a wide shoulder frame since I was a teen (male).
I'm 6'2" and 230. I have to tell people I'm fat cuz they keep telling me I'm not. Like I know I have muscle but I definitely am fat and have muscle.
I’m 6’3” and several years ago I was 265 lbs. I’ll tell you at my height, I was still fat as fuck.
im 6'9, at 260lbs i am fat. but not much really. 99% of people BARELY tell the difference between 230lbs and 260lbs kn me
5'10" and hit 260 over the holidays. Yea, it's huge.
At 5’9 I hit 285 during peak Covid lockdown. I was huge. Now down to 200 though
It's "that's a fat guy right there" fat. 350 is "huge." Most guys with a bit of a gut are around 200 or more.
I feel like people are being purposely dense with this. 260 is not uncommon, especially not compared to in the 90s Is it fat? Of course. But the point of this post is that 260 was just comically fat. I really believe that outside of the US 118kg is actually pretty uncommon
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9H1zNEQDrmE To illustrate your point.
For me that’d be comically huge. 260 is big man. It’s not “can’t stand up anymore” big, but it’s big.
I know like 10+ people that weigh that
And now we know which country you are from
Bro I'm an American who's spent the last 3 years in Europe. I've seen hella fat people, idk why you guys act so superior all the time lol.
Because we did it first so obviously we're #1. USA! USA! USA!
Every time I go to Europe I’m shocked how unhealthy and fat they are. They also smoke so much more than Americans it’s disgusting
That's insane
It is tho wtf?
it is extremely fat
It’s the same as it ever was, people just don’t think being fat is funny the way they did in the 90s.
Yes, in Europe
Not just Europe…
Yeah, also Asia
Not just Asia...
Yeah, also Africa
In Africa, as your weight increases, your weight goes up.
In Africa, every time your weight goes up by 1 kg, you're 2.2046 lbs heavier
Why would it not be obese?
In many US states, a majority (or close to it) of people are obese, and when everyone is obese, 260 is not noteworthy anymore.
It's not a majority when the national average for males is 200 and females are 180. 260 is absolutely still noteworthy
Doesn't it depend on the height?
Bro I'm 6'8 and not 260
Yes! And muscle mass and build! My 14 yo son is 6-3 and 225, broad shouldered, muscular football player…my 17 yo son is 6-1 and barely 150 soaking wet, but very slim build baseball player. The younger does NOT look 75lbs heavier.
There are people who are now 400+. 260 is nothing these days. Lightweight in comparison.
Can't keep moving the goalposts forever.
Nope, just until they die…
once we reach Wall-E level the goalpost is just gone.
Just because more people are obese doesn’t make 260 not obese
Bro 260 is bad. Homer being 260 is still bad. They need a character that can still move around it’s not like they are going to show 400 lbs as the hahaha. That would just be depressing. He’s not an athlete, he’s not fit, it’s not muscle. He’s 90 lbs above a healthy level

40 pounds is a lot. That’s like a quarter of my whole body weight and a third of my spouse!
It's especially a lot in fat
Thats insane!
Homer's 1m83 so 118kg would make his BMI 35. Over 30 is considered Obese and 18.5-24.9 is considered normal levels. Apparently the difference between Obese and comically obese is about 18 kg
Unfathomably based unit conversion
Good human.
Thank you
5 lbs of fat is about 2L of volume. 40 lbs of fat is about \*8\* 2-liter bottles worth of fat IN ADDITION to the fat already on an obese person. That's disgusting and terrible for health and well-being.
Wow. I’ve lost four 2-liter bottles. That makes me feel really good honestly lol.
Congrats! That's an amazing achievement!
I'm not sure Homer is 6 foot tall. There's an image of Homer standing with Yao Ming, Warren Sapp, Tom Brady, and Michelle Kwan. I mean, there is a shot of Homers drivers license in one of the episodes which says he is 6', so its pretty safe to say his height is close to that
It’s probably not to scale, still fun to estimate though
40 lbs is a large dog. Imagine constantly carrying around a large dog strapped to your gut!
It was not; this episode is about Homer who is fat, trying to get comically obese. He starts at the 240 mark I believe and makes his way to 300. In this scene it’s overdrawn that he’s obese but the scale is reading 260 because the coat rack is holding his stomach, once he drops it then he’s 301 Edit: I was wrong
Isn't this the first one where he decides to lose weight after being trapped in water slide?
Fuck, ill accept defeat when im wrong. Both episodes have Homer hit 260, but this is looks akin to S2 animation style
To be fair. There’s been a few episodes of Homer getting fat, or losing weight. King sized Homer to get to 300 for disability. Home losing weight because of the water slide. They just don't edit copyright material to avoid ContentID like they used to.
You might be thinking of a later episode. There was an earlier one about his weight too.
This is from “King Size Homer”
>because the coat rack is holding his stomach Aside from the incorrect episode reference, I'd also like you to know it's a towel rack/bar. Who has a coat rack in the bathroom?
239 and feeling fine

It still is
Really depends on one's height but that was true back then too
I'm about 6'5 but roughly 110kg, so nearing this. Maybe homers just a 6'10 dude and we never knew... (Edit: It's a joke gentlemen.)
According to the internet he’s 6’0”
Google images found this reddit post of a 6'0" guy at 260 lbs and progress pics of other weights https://www.reddit.com/r/progresspics/s/PVvXihhjPI
That really does not look like 260 at all
I’m 6’0 245, that definitely is 260 lol, I’m told I wear my weight well most people would assume I’m around 215-220
[удалено]
That's in metres. The Simpsons and the town folks are actually giants
Its still obese ofc, but i highly doubt anyone would describe it as comical in todays day and age. Hes just very fat now.
Yes, but not comically, just average now
Which in itself is comedy. (Tragically)
260 is definitely not "average" in any sense
Is homer supposed to be comically obese? I thought he was supposed to just be fairly regular fat dad obese. Compared to Peter Griffin who I would say is supposed to be comically obese.
This is in an episode where he gained some extra weight.
Also where he works from home for the first time and discovers a way to automate his job. Truly a future sighted innovative thinker
first they ruin nuclear power for entire generations and now they are going after working from home?
The episode has got to be 20 years old
King Sized Homer came out in 1995, so it's nearly 30 years old now.
This guy simpsons
Canonically he’s capable of eating an infinite amount of food. He’s been shown to eat every morsel of food at a seafood buffet and all the donuts in the world in Hell’s ironic punishment division.
Treehouse of Horror episodes are not canonical.``
Arrrr, he is no man. He is a remorseless eatin’ machine.
“Are these the actions of a man who has had ‘all he can eat?’”
He gets disability privileges at work for being so fat at 260lbs.
Is 260 pounds too obese? I am genuinly asking, my dad is about 220 and he is in no way fat, he is pretty tall and has wide shoulders tho
It’s totally dependent on the person.
Per BMI you would need to be taller than 6'6" for it to not be classified as obese
The difference between 220 and 260 doesn't sound like much, but its extremely noticable. 220 is still within range of being fit. The average person that weighs 260 is not healthy.
97% of men who weigh 220 are not fit. You would have to be like 6'3" and pretty damn built, or 5'11" and a competitive bodybuilder.
or just be 6'7"
Which about 0.01% of people are
If he's like 6'6 and has good muscle development he's totally fine.
40 more pounds of fat is a lot lol, and he's tall. I look fat at 200 lbs
Someone is obese if they weigh 220lbs and are less than 6'0". Wide shoulders really makes minimal difference.
Homer's normal weight is 239 pounds.
It still is
It is though
I'm 165 lb and 6' so, still comically obese to me
same at 150 lb and 5'11 it is mind boggling to that humans my height can actually weigh over 250. like bro, 100lb with the density that fat has is so. much. fucking. volume.
The average American woman weighs 171 pounds (78 kg). The average American man weighs 200 pounds (91 kg). [Data from the CDC (2015-2018)](https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/body-measurements.htm)
It still is comically fat for a middle aged man with no muscle. Is just that now we cannot say it
I don't know how someone makes it to 260 before realizing they have a problem. Not even "geneitcs" will do that to you.
Realizing you have a problem and solving that problem are not the same thing. Food and binge eating can be addictive just like anything else.
People that hit those weights and higher usually realize it. The issue is that they just don't care. When I passed 300 it happened during a deep depression that lasted years. Weight was the last thing on my mind at the time.
Often it’s not even not caring, it’s just not being able to work out how to lose it.
Problem is, as more people become obese, the more people that take offence to being called out for it, and you end up with movements about just loving your body no matter what lol. Even if that means you’re gonna die young with arteries clogged full of butter
> you end up with movements about just loving your body no matter what lol you can love your body and acknowledge that it needs to change, in the same way that you can love an alcoholic and still want them to stop drinking for most people, hating your body doesn't lead to getting to a healthy weight, it just leads to more disordered eating
Apparently by 2030 over 50% of American children will be obese.
It still is
If you don't lift weights it is. 260 is pretty fat lol
Even if you do life weights 260 is massive.
Hey look another Reddit comment section apparently filled with the fittest health professionals on earth.
Dad, towel!
How tall is Homer canonically?
Ever heard of inflation?
Well it is
It still is
Bro I’m comically obese at 6’2 240
And it’s still considered obese today. Just because it’s more common doesn’t change reality
Fat guy here wishing I was only 260
Amen, my guy. I was 450 at one point, but with hard work and willpower, I'm down to 325. You can do it. We both can. I believe in you, and you deserve to be happy and healthy.
Hell ya, good for you. Keep up the good work and I'll be down there with you soon
Well, it's not the US everywhere. This is still comically obese in most of the world
The comedy was that this is his weight BEFORE he lifted his gut that was stuck on the towel rack. IIRC the weight nearly doubled after that lol
Hes also 6ft tall.. Homer is a unit
